We picked the Potomac Montgomery county location because I did not want to deal with DC traffic and parking . We got there 10 minutes late but we called ahead to let them know. It was a very busy Friday night so they were running a little behind. Still, we were seated within 15 minutes Our waiter was very friendly and did not at all seem to mind that all 4 of us were vegetarians. We ordered two starters which arrived without much delay. After the meal, he offered to pack us the left overs and we were happy about that. I tipped more than I normally do. Kids were welcome and the decibel level was fairly high. I would definitely go there again with a different group comprised of adults and try the various drinks on offer Very good food with decent options for vegetarians. May seem pricey but very high food quality. Definitely to be considered for a special occasion. The revolving door at the main entrance is a nice touch and kept those waiting comfortable on a cold day If there is one point that could be improved, it is the crowded check in desk on a busy night where people were standing around in groups of 3-4 waiting to be seated. There could have been some kind of a buzzer device like Panera and PF Chang give out or may be a designated waiting area. Overall must try

I like founding farmers because the food is fresh. While the basics are there such as chicken pot pie and burgers , I love that they come up with new and interesting takes on many classics. My only complaint is it is very loud. Go for the food and the great service

Just wanted to say that we had a great server in Timothy- my friend and I came for lunch, I had made a reservation earlier in the day. Since the restaurant was kind of loud, Timothy had to bend down to the table to hear me- It was a very personal touch that I really appreciate as my voice doesn't carry well in noisy space. We did order way too much food, but it was great because we both had food to bring home for our kids. The soup of the day was great and very warming. We shared an appetizer of fried green tomatoes- French fries with lunch were even good cold later and I don't usually like cold french fries! My daughter who ate the other half of my sandwich was very impressed and she's not a big fan of turkey, but since this one was off the bird, she really enjoyed it. Thanks again and I hope to see our waiter Timothy again next time we visit.

Founding Farmers has a lot of nice comfort food. Some of my favorites are the biscuits with butter and honey, cedar planked salmon, maple and bacon brussel sprouts and the sweet potato. The kettle corn is also fun, but really more of a dessert. If you are a fan of homemade sodas, the Rickey's are also refreshing. This is truly fun farm to table dining.

As usual food was very good. Service could use some tweaking as well as special requests regarding our meal. Green beans were requested to be well done, came out cold and under cooked, second order came out when we were about finished with meal and that to was under cooked but hot.

  • Kind of Organic, a little bit weird.
    OpenTable Diner Since 2013

FF makes a strong impression on those who have never been there because it's visually quite interesting with jars of preserved veggies lining shelves, stylistic murals depicting its organic ties to the community, and its frankly weird albino ducks suspended from the ceiling. But from reception to actual service, things are generally pretty good. Building your own custom sodas sounds more interesting than it really is and really requires more time and energy than I am either able or willing to give as I am normally go there with co-workers or customers. Service is prompt to your table but not overly fast in delivery...not really slow, just not quick either. The waiters try to be helpful, but when the place with its metal ceiling is in full buzz and full song, good luck understanding and catching half the probably good advice they're giving you...or maybe my hearing is starting to go. Anyway. I don't drink so I can't opine on the bar options...so for many of you this review is a waste...although they sure seem to have a lot variety and plenty of folks are imbibing, so it's probably pretty good. As to the actual dishes and food, let's say they taste pretty good and they don't scrimp...the chicken pot pie (I like comfort food) is really tasty and huge and made in a very unique way. My wife loved the mahi mahi and she can be picky. So, go. Go there and try it...think you'll enjoy it, but intimate conversation is best saved for some other place. And if you freak out at the sight of incoming albino ducks...just move along.

I have dined at FF many times over the years and have never been disappointed. Every dish was a cut above the ordinary. This time 2 people in my party ordered the Chicken Pot Pie and both said the flavor was missing compared to previous visits. Both found large pieces of gristle in their meals. My order of Sausage Mushroom Gnocchi lacked mushrooms. The gnocchi were gummy and the sauce was thin and lackluster. Our starters of skillet cornbread and fried green tomatoes were blah at best. Where before everyone would rave about their meals , this time all 4 people in my group were disappointed. The service was fine and the 2 Pot Pies were removed from our bill.

We love Founding Farmers in DC and have dined there many times and had great experiences. Their reservations were booked until 10pm so we decided to try FF in Montgomery County. We were very disappointed! We were seated more than 45 minutes after our reservation. When we checked in (on time), we were told it would be a 20 minute wait-at the same time another guest came to the hostess table and asked if she would be seated soon and indicated that their reservation was 30 minutes earlier. They were both late and dishonest with guests. Then, the "apology" was that they were really busy. That was clearly not the problem since the concept of open table is to manage reservations. They should have planned their evening better and managed their diners and taken responsibility. After finally being seated, next to the bar, we received decent service until it got later and staff started to go "off shift" and bellied up at the bar, while we waited a LONG time for our check and then to be checked out. Poor form.

Based on previous OK meals with work groups, we made a Sat PM reservation for ourselves. We arrived on time, checked in, and were told it would be "a few minutes," so we got a (overpriced) glass of wine and a beer at the bar. We got no further. After 45 minutes, with vague and uninformative responses to inquiries about whether the reservation would ever be honored, we left. We can't comment on the food or service, since we got none and won't be back to find out more.

As forewarned, we made a booking but still had to wait for about 20-25 minutes for a table. On Saturday at noon, the place was packed and LOUD. Food was very good (between us we ordered chicken & waffles - yum!, eggs & hashbrowns, soup and grilled cheese, and blueberry french toast), service was good, but noise levels upstairs were even higher than downstairs. This is not the place to go for intimate conversation.

I've been to Founding Farmers a few times, and to the MoCo location at a minimum of twice. This time around, we had the same experience. Exceptional service, amazing food, great drinks as usual, and an overall inviting and comforting ambiance regardless of the population waiting at the front desk (which after more than a total of 10 visits to both Founding Farmers locations, I am quite used to seeing). This time I tried their Many Vegetable Meatless Meatloaf which was really good and hearty, although their original meatloaf still remains my favorite. My brother tried their Bleu-Cheese and Mushroom Ravioli, a flavor combination one would not think would pair well, until your first bite and things begin to melt in your mouth. I sort-of immediately regretted my dish and wished I had what he ordered. The wife ordered a Honey-Thyme Roasted Chicken which came with Mashed potatoes and Green Beans. She loved the way the chicken was seasoned and how moist it still was despite being slow-roasted for many hours (according to our very knowledgeable server).

This was my first time at Founding Farmer. it's a nice restaurant, however my first experience was not a great one. The cook lost our order, so we had to wait for almost an hour before we were served our food. The Manager did not charge us for our food, which was great customer service. I do believe in second chances, and I will try this restaurant out again.

Normally, I LOVE Founding Farmers. This was the first time (out of about 8-9 visits) I had a mediocre experience. The food is normally wonderful, but my sister's salad with chicken was full of cartilage scraps. Must have been a mistake. The hostess was kind of rude. I guess, even favorite restaurants can have a bad day.

It's not that the food wasn't good, it was but I had heard so much about how great the food is that perhaps I was expecting better. It's wholesome and you do feel that you're eating quality food but it just didn't meet up to my expectations. This was my second visit to the restaurant and I went away feeling the same on both occasions. I was most impressed with the friendly service. And do they get all their wait staff out of a A&F catalogue? The waiters were all great looking! The noise level was quite high. We sat upstairs on both occasions. I was glad for that because it seemed downstairs was noisier. I will go back again, don't get me wrong, but my expectations are now set for what to expect when it comes to the food.

Food is delicious and service is good. Food arrived in timely manner and hot. Variety of menu items is great, something for every appetite and dietary need. Enjoyed brunch w/my 97 year old mom, but waiting area is extremely crowded and dodging all the incoming and outgoing patrons was a real challenge. Also, elevator for handicapped and eldery entrance way was blocked by excess chairs and high chairs being stored in the hallway, and the door swings out, which hit my mother in the back because she had no room to maneuver. And, requiring the elevator to be unlocked and accessed with the help of staff seems unnecessarily cumbersome. Going down was not much better. If this is an accommodation to "handicap" accessible, it is a very poor one.

enjoyed the restaurant fully. I was with my family on football Sunday so I was able to enjoy football while eating. Service was great, everyone checked on you to make sure everything you needed was provided.

Their food is delicious and even though it was crazy busy while we were there, the service was still pretty good.

Made a Sunday Brunch reservation, noting the occasion of celebrating my wife's birthday. Requested a table away from the bar/kitchen/server station. Waited 15 minutes after the reservation time to be seated - the seated next to a serving station. No other tables available unless we desired a longer wait. The dining area was completely filled, with a large group of people in front of the revolving door waiting to be seated. Ordered a waffle to share before the main breakfast platters. Waffle arrived cold, butter would not melt. After taking our order, the waiter disappeared - he was busy to his credit with several other tables. The main breakfast platters - one platter was missing an item. We informed another waiter of the error - he apologized and a "manager" arrived to apologize as well. The check arrived with no credit for the cold waffle or missing platter item. The "manager" suddenly appeared and then offered to adjust the amount. The breakfast food, really, was not special. A similar platter from IHop or Bob Evans would compare equally with the Founding Farmers offering. Save your money for a lunch or dinner at FF, but skip the brunch - it's all hype and show.

Walked into a very unique space that is well designed and my first reaction was, "Wow." We were seated in a very busy restaurant on time. I will say that the spicy Bloody Mary's that my wife and I had were outstanding. So was the food.
