  • Entertainment: The bar at Founding Farmers is a truly unique and innovative experience, with true mixologists specially trained in 'bar-chefing'. The bar menu harkens back to the pre-Prohibition era with handcrafted cocktails that use juices and mixers prepared by hand as well as Fountain Sodas and Phosphates, prepared to order. Founding Farmers has been recognized by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington for two consecutive years, 2010 and 2011, as having one of the area's best beverage/mixology programs and received the top prize for Best Bar/Beverage Program in the group's 2011 RAMMY Awards.
  • Special Events & Promotions: MoCo's Founding Farmers includes is a second floor mezzanine level that is ideal for special gatherings, business meeting, parties or corporate events any time of day, for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The mezzanine can accommodate up to 75 guests comfortably seated for dinner, or up to 100 guests for a standing reception. The full restaurant is also available for buyouts.

In addition to serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, MoCo's Founding Farmers hosts a unique “Afternoon Social,” providing a modern afternoon break for area entrepreneurs looking for a respite from coffee houses, local mom groups with toddlers in tow and retirees craving a place to socialize and a bite to eat. The Afternoon Social menu features tea sandwiches, scones, tea, cocktails, cookies and other desserts.

Entrepreneurs and business professionals are always welcome at MoCo’s Founding Farmers, where we offer a mini business center and restaurant-wide, complimentary WiFi.

  • "I've been here for both dinner and brunch and the food is amazing each time. Love their great menu and delicious food. Sinfully delicious stuffed French toast for brunch. For dinner the shrimp and grits, Chicken pot pie and gnocchi were all really well made. I've never been a fan of gnocchi, but this one was soft and not rubbery like other gnocchi I've had. The pot pie wasn't the traditional pie crust, but had fluffy biscuits on top that made it so delicious. Shrimp and grits was tasty. The shrimp being well cooked and the entire thing well seasoned. One of my favorite places."

  • "Came where with my mom for Sunday Brunch. Definitely make reservations if you come for brunch, it was packed. Even with a reservation, we waited about ten minutes to be seated. We sat outside and the area was very comfortable and well set up. I had the steak and eggs about $12?, which was great, and my mom had a bananas foster waffle. The waffle was crunchy, but not dry. Overall the brunch was good (I'll go back!) but nothing super spectacular."

  • "I chose to go to Founding Farmer's for my birthday on a Saturday afternoon. The food was excellent, service fabulous and the atmosphere is always fun. I had the chicken and waffles, which is always a good choice. Don't leave without having dessert, all of them are wonderful, especially Uncle Buck's Beignets."

  • "I've been to F.Farmers a dozen times for brunch, lunch & dinner; both at the bar and in the dining area. Its consistent. The food is good, the mixed drinks are fabulous and the service is poor. I want to much to love this place - but just can't! They cannot get the timing of the service right - so tables don't turn over correctly - waits are too long, whether you are sitting, standing or you've made a reservation (i never go w/out a reservation unless I'm planning to sit at the bar). Its a shame - its almost a great spot!"

  • "Food was very good - we, a party of 3, had three different pastas - the spaggetti bolognese, shrimp bucatti, and the pepper gnocchi. They were all delicious and filling. The only thing is that the sauces might have been a bit too rich for our tastes, but other than that, it was very satisfying. Also, the noise level was a bit much for dinner conversation, but it would be perfect for a less formal meal or a lunch/brunch among young people."

  • "All of my family members enjoyed their meals, but the service was SLOW, and the restaurant wasn't even all that full for a Saturday night. My grandmother ordered the blood orange soda and a few minutes after everyone but her received their drinks, she was finally brought a cherry soda without even being told that they were out of the flavor she ordered. By the time we finally received our food, my father's crab cake was cold, but he ate it anyway because we had waited so long, and he didn't want to have to wait any longer. A waitress did offer to take off the crab cake from the bill, but we were still not all that impressed with our experience."

  • "Had not been to FF in a while - it's still as popular as ever. Service started off slowly and never really picked up. Out of our wine - told 5 minutes after we ordered. Out of an entree, again told long after we placed the order. Would it hurt to tell your staff in advance??? But when our food arrived, it was the best. Still delicious, generous portions and perfectly prepared. So what started as a dinner to be considered our final visit ended with a ray of hope."

  • "We had dinner on a Thursday night. 7:30 Reservation on a Thursday night - we weren't seated until after 7:45 The noise level is way too high, it was difficult to hear the server or my date, much nicer at the DC location. Appetizers came out 15 minutes after ordering which was good; but then our main course came out 3 minutes later. When we complained the waitress offered to "keep it warm" in the kitchen. Not the right answer for seafood. The food was good, and our waitress was friendly."

  • "Founding Farmers is great! Four of us "ladies" including two teenagers, went for brunch on July 4th and had a wonderful time! The atmosphere was fun and energetic. Our server couldln't have been more pleasant and efficient. Wish I could remember his name! He was terrific! The food was delicious! Everything is fresh, tasty and even pretty! There is an incredible amount of choices on the menu - we enjoy the lunch and dinner menu as well. We will definitely be back! We highly recommend Founding Farmers."

We were especially touched by the fact that we asked to be seated outside since we came with our dog, natasha who is our most beloved part of our family. We always struggle with very bad attitude of restaurants to accompany dogs. It always makes us very uppset. BUT founding farmers is really wonderful and welcoming. We recommend this restaurant for the food and the speciall attitude to pets."

  • "This is a restaurant with a terrific concept that is implemented to a "t"...the one observation is that it is almost too perfect in realizing the concept...makes it a bit more of what it is trying to be than something authentic...it is also just very big...lots of people give it a kind of "food factory" feel...all that being said, the staff was absolutely terrific, the food was excellent and we had a great time!"

  • "Maybe it was just because it was a holiday, but even with a reservation we had a wait of at least 15 minutes for a table for just the 2 of us, & then it took us over an hour to get our food once seated. At least half of the food when finally served, was not hot, most importantly our eggs. Some of the food is actually quite above good, but to be on the ragged edge of starvation for over an hour just diminishes your satisfaction once it arrives. Our server was quite good, but could not make up for the deficiencies. The noise level is quite spectacular!!!"

The wrong dishes were brought to two of us in our party and we were charged for an extra dish (the wrong one brought out to us). And the food wasn't as good as usual. One of our dishes was over cooked. I hope this was a one time thing and not a sign that the place is going downhill."

  • "The upstairs is a bit underwhelming and I need to remember to ask to stay on ground level. The upstairs lighting is unappealing and I feel more like being in a cramped diner. Food is great with good value. Best oatmeal. French Toast doesn't look special but it's DELICIOUS. Would like a few berries included on the plate with it."

  • "We had wanted to try this restaurant for a while but could never get reservations that worked. We ran early and were seated right away for breakfast. So many choices on the menu sounded delicious but we stayed with our classic standards-French toast with bacon and a waffle with ham. After waiting for some time, the manager stopped by and explained the kitchen was experiencing difficulties due to the recent storms. The waffle iron was not working properly. I changed my order to French toast. The food arrived quickly after and was worth the wait. The ham steak was more of a flavorful lean pork chop but fantastic all the same. The French toast was filling without being heavy. The check is in the mail is a cute gimmick."

  • "I've been to both the DC and Potomac locations, and both definitely did not disappoint. At the Potomac location, my dining group shared appetizers of bacon wrapped dates, bacon lollis, and brie apple flatbread. All were delicious. My entree was an amazing lobster mac and cheese, which was so cheesy and only could have been improved with more lobster meat. Dessert was a killer triple layer chocolate mousse cake."

  • "My daughter and I feel like we've discovered a new favorite place! We promised ourselves to come back on the last lunch of summer...and maybe our birthdays too. Everything was pleasant and unhurried and there were unending choices of delicious sounding dishes. She had a veggie burger and I had crab cake. We brought home beignets .. Amazing treat!"
