Diner Reviews
  • "We had a reservation for 7:30 for Monday evening. When we arrived, there were lots of other prospective dinners waiting around. The hostesses could not offer much specificity as to when we might dine. Around 8:00 pm, after beeing told that the restaurant had "tables on buzz," we left. Founding Farmers may have buzzing tables, but we wanted to eat."

  • "We came in as a large party on Monday morning to gather following services for a religious holiday. There were several small children in our party which can sometimes make for a difficult dining experience. However, that was not the case during our visit to Founding Farmers in Potomac. The food was delicious (the kids raved about everything from the fresh squeezed juices to the stuffed french toast) and our server, Thea, took great care of us. I would highly recommend FF in Potomac!"

  • "I have to say I'm very disappointed at what I experienced at This restaurants location in MD. First, it was very hot inside with minimal air conditioning. Second, even though the server did his best to dampen the news; they didn't have many things on the menu and his only explanation was that "it was Sunday" I don't even know what means. I don't care if it's Sunday. Am I supposed to not eat there on Sundays?? My mom and fiancé wanted a veggie burger or even just a turkey burger. Due to the fact that their menu is confusing to understand they ordered what they thought was a turkey burger but turned out to be a turkeyLESS burger and looked and tasted gross. Overall, I won't be going back to the Mont Co location and will stick with DC's."

  • "We frequent Founding Farmers on a regular basis - both MC and DC locations. For a while the DC location was by far the better restaurant. Our last few visits to the MC location have been great. Good food and okay service."

  • "Second time we've been to Founding Farmers-Moco and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. Folks at our table had the blueberry pancakes (blueberries in the butter-awesome), salmon with pasta and cucumber dish, chicken and waffles, and the meatloaf with potatoes. All delicious. Looking forward to our next visit!"

  • "Our waitress was great. It was our first time dining a founding farmers and her recommendations were on point:). Absolutely wonderful dining exerperience. Will definitely do the weekend brunch."

  • "The negatives were small, but they added up. Daiquiri and old-fashioned were unexpectedly served straight-up (perhaps we needed to request ice); menu items looked appealing, but chicken pot pie was overly soupy/creamy and mac and cheese with ham was under-seasoned; table water was room temperature (this time we DID ask for ice); noise made any conversation strained; after-dinner drink was incorrect, but sever insisted otherwise. The popcorn rocked, however."

  • "We had a nice 8 party (4adults, 4kids) family birthday dinner here. The food was very good an the service was great. The only downside was the noise level andour table size. We were sat into a round booth which was nice but a bit crowded."

  • "I usually love Founding Fathers; however, this time around the place was dirty. The Pimento Farmers bread was good and the homemade chips. The vegetarian meatloaf was too salty to eat."

  • "Almost everything about this restaurant was ok, but not memorable. The part that was not ok was the drinks. The beer was overpriced; a water glass full was $7. But worst of all, the non-alcoholic beverages, such as soda, ice tea and lemonade were priced by the glass, and the serving staff did not stint on the ice. I might have missed it on the menu, but except for the soda that was delivered by the can so I found out it was individually priced, I did not discover the per glass pricing for the ice tea and lemonade, at $3 and $4 per glass, until I got the check. In all, my party paid almost as much for the ice tea and lemonade as for their entrees."

  • "Simply marvelous! I have dined here 3 times in the past 3 weeks and each time I am blown away. It is an high volume restuarant but it is well managed that you will never feel unattended. Food is great and service too. I have had dinner, brunch and lunch. I always leave filling well served and full. Great place to chill."

  • "The quality of the food is always great. My only concern is every time I've eaten there my food NEVER comes out hot, just barely warm."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner and enjoyed everything. It was difficult to choose from so many wonderful dishes so I know we will be back to try more."

  • "I have loved FF in the past, and they are still the best all-around place in the area. However, there is a new menu, prices were higher than on their website. We made a 530 reservation and the hostess tried to seat us at a small table in the middle of the room. I asked for one of the empty booths, and we were left standing for at least 5 minutes until someone came along and cleaned it. I specifically went for the portobello mushroom reuben. It was no longer portobello, but now just "mushroom" and frankly there was more bread than filling; it didn't fill the bread and there was only a whisper of cheese on it. My companion was very happy with his pulled pork sandwich, and and we both loved the shared apple pie. Still, we will be back."

  • "An all-round superb restaurant to dine at. All their dishes are delicious (especially the kettle corn and beignets!), the food comes in a timely manner, the waiters are friendly, and the restaurant itself is bright and comfortable. This has become one of our favorite restaurants in MD and we will return to try out their breakfast/brunch menu!"

  • "Absolutely fantastic food, service and ambience! Not to mention that the reservation line changed our reservation at the last minute for 30 minutes later and stayed with me on the phone while she switched tables and servers around until it worked. Thank you so much! This was a special evening for our long-distance friends from Australia and made for a wonderful evening."

  • "Generaly a very good restaurant. If you are seated upstairs it will be very uncomfortable-- just too hot. Also in the upstairs section you will loose any ambiance -- it is like being stashed away in a banquet room. Most of the food was excellent but one meal was just not good. The restaurant was wonderful in taking care of this matter. Maybe just a bad night."

  • "I like this location better than the downtown location. The food and service was great. I can't wait to go back for brunch."

  • "We treated a close family friend to lunch after years of hard work and dedication invested in the community. Founding Farmer's was the perfect place to unwind, to share a couple of laughs, and to indulge in reinvented dishes. From the attentive servers, to the large tables, and the beautiful layout, this restaurant offers a refreshing experience for family members and friends to share together."

  • "Hair in my stuffed french toast was not my idea of a great brunch, however the bartender pours a nice peach bellini."
    Dined on 7/20/2014
  • "Brunch dishes were good, but nothing extraordinary except for biscuits. Granola and yogurt came with about one tablespoon of granola and when we asked for more---they gave us another tablespoon! Come on! One member of our group ordered lunch (salmon) and that was excellent! Looking around at other people's dishes, the lunch options looked more appetizing than breakfast. Coffee bitter and mediocre."

  • "The food at FF was a very creative twist of traditional food that was refreshing and delicious. The IPA was very good and the hand-made gingerale was out of this world! There was a long line though even though we had a reservation."

  • "I live this restaurant. But my recent experience was disappointing. I made an 8:15 reservation for dinner saturday night, only to arrive early at 7:50 or so to find they were running 30 minutes behind on seating reservations. My friend and I got a drink at the bar while we waited, and at 8:10 I checked with the host, to find they were still running 30 min behind. My friend and I ended up grabbing seats at the bar instead of waiting until 8:45 to be seated for my 8:15 reservation. Seriously, disappointing. Why make reservations if they don't mean anything?"

  • "We had to wait over 30 minutes with a reservation. The food was great."

  • "We were extremely disappoinrted with the 50 minute wait even though we had a reservation. The appetizer and the main entree were not available. I finally received mussels that were so salty they were inedible and sent back. My husband oreded meatloaf and it was also way over salted and not very good. This was a birthday dinner that couldn't have been worse. The noise level was so loud we could barely hear ourselves talk. The reservation table was so crowded that I was pushed and shoved because there was not enough room for the incoming and outgoing patrons. The manager came over to say he was very sorry for the poor food, late reservation, and overall confusion. We will never return to Founding Farmers."

  • "Fabulous and creative dishes. All six people in our party were delighted with their entees. We even shared so everyone could taste all the deliciousness. Only down-side was the beverage service. We had to repeatedly ask the waitress for our " bar" drinks. Don't know if they were short- handed at the bar or what. Can wait to go again."

  • "So I have heard how great founding farmers was from all of my co-workers. I took my fiance on a saturday around 1:30 and the wait wasn't very long. But our server was not attentive at all. After leaving us for about 18 minutes after bringing us our drinks I started to get abit irritated. Then the appetizer that we ordered was forgotten and another server brought our food out. He grabbed a manager for us who was about to comp our appetizer but we declined. The atmosphere was very nice and the decor suited the food very well. My fiance had the honey mustard chicken salad which was quite good. I should have chosen that instead of the Joe's chili burger which was mediocre at best. It will be quite a while before we try dining in again."

  • "Dinner was a success. Always hard to finish meals, portions are huge. Good food."
    Dined on 7/18/2014
  • "The location and food quality is becoming that of a family restaurant. There are kids everywhere, and families treat it like their own living room. I ordered the BBQ pulled pork, it was over cooked and dry. My friend ordered the Shrimp and grits, the shrimp was average and tasted like it was from a frozen shrimp pack from Costco. Costco frozen shrimp is good, but I expected more from Founding Farmers. I would not recommend going at around 6:30pm. Perhaps around 8 would be better as most of the families with small children have already eaten and gone home. However, that does not change that the food quality seems to be going down. The place needs to be cleaned as well. The walls and ceiling are noticeably browner with stains."

  • "My husband, 3 kids in their twenties, and I were there for a family birthday dinner celebration. The food was outstanding. The server was polite, friendly, and knew the menu. We all enjoyed our food and drinks. We had already ordered a whole red velvet cake to take home. Not only was the cake beautiful, it is the best tasting cake any of us has ever had! Truly a blue ribbon winner. We will be back!"

  • "I had a 7:15 reservation to eat here and had to wait until 7:55 to be seated. Otherwise, the outdoor tables are pleasant on a nice summer night, and salads are very good."

  • "I can always count on Founding Farmers to give me the best experience (food and service-wise), which is why I always bring friends and family there. Our server was upbeat and very attentive. And the food was awesome, especially the black pepper wings! This will always be my go-to restaurant."

  • "Came here with some colleagues from work the other day. The food and service were great, but the noise level from the bar was high. Would recommend requesting seating away from the bar or upstairs if you want to have an easier time talking with the people around you."
