  • "A friend of mine was visiting the Montgomery County area. Although, it was not her first visit to the area it was her first Founding Farmers experience. She thanked me several times over for bringing her to the establishment and stated that she would be certain to return on her next visit. She found the food delectable, the culture inviting, and our waiter Lawrence to be patient and friendly. The experience was great."

  • "Food was great as usual, though the pickled veggie and goat cheese tartines seemed over-soaked with balsalmic vinegar. Twin guests at the table were celebrating birthdays, which was noted on the reservation. Even after several hints to the waiter, no effort to recognize the birthdays. It turned out that the birthdays guests didn't want dessert anyway, but it seemed like an odd oversight."

  • "The food at Founding Farms is incredible. The service was the worst I have experienced at a highly recommended restaurant. We ate dinner at 6pm on Saturday. One of our party received the wrong sides (yes, both sides were wrong) with her entree. The waitress never offered to refill our drinks. Two in our party shared a bottle of wine. One drank a draught beer and was never offered another beer. I asked for a second Arnold Palmer and what I received was a drink with alcohol in it (That mistake is compounded by the fact that I do not drink and have not had a drink in 25 years!!!!). When we ordered dessert, I received the wrong item and the coffee arrived late and luke warm! Our waitress obviouly did not care about what she was doing."

  • "I had the chicken and waffles for breakfast which was really good. The waffle was fluffy and the chicken crispy. Both were flavorful and delicious together. The white gravy, honey butter and syrup were all good too. The service, however, was not so good. We waited 20 minutes before someone took our drink order. During breakfast, we had to wave down other wait staff as our waiter kept disappearing. I had requested a well-lit booth, but we were taken to a very dark booth. This has happened all 3 times I've eaten there. Thankfully, we were able to move to a half booth by the window."

  • "My girlfriends and I enjoyed a birthday lunch on a Friday. We sat out on the patio and the service was very attentive and friendly. The food never disappoints here. :)"

  • "Food was good and appreciate the mission; we support local farmers and businesses; wine list average; beers of the week, nothing spectacular (expected a bit more variety); waitstaff - too scripted about the mission -- had already done my research so it was a bit "over the top" in terms of selling the place. My sense is the young man was still in training which I completely understand. The restaurant manager took over our table, which was great. Biggest reason for not coming back would be the noise level. Not sure there's much that can be done about it, but the noise left us both with ears ringing. No private conversations to be had. Everything was heard at the table next to us. Positive note -- love the mailbox for the check. Nice touch!"

  • "I've been here for both dinner and brunch and the food is amazing each time. Love their great menu and delicious food. Sinfully delicious stuffed French toast for brunch. For dinner the shrimp and grits, Chicken pot pie and gnocchi were all really well made. I've never been a fan of gnocchi, but this one was soft and not rubbery like other gnocchi I've had. The pot pie wasn't the traditional pie crust, but had fluffy biscuits on top that made it so delicious. Shrimp and grits was tasty. The shrimp being well cooked and the entire thing well seasoned. One of my favorite places."

  • "The food is excellent, the service great, but the experience is painful. It is entirely too loud in this restaurant."

  • "The service was very good and the food excellent. Wine by the glass a tad pricey if you only wanted to get a glass of wine with dinner. Would have liked a few more 'plain' choices that weren't salad, pasta or red meat...ie chicken"

  • "Great american food. I recommend the ahi-tuna salad."

  • "Came where with my mom for Sunday Brunch. Definitely make reservations if you come for brunch, it was packed. Even with a reservation, we waited about ten minutes to be seated. We sat outside and the area was very comfortable and well set up. I had the steak and eggs about $12?, which was great, and my mom had a bananas foster waffle. The waffle was crunchy, but not dry. Overall the brunch was good (I'll go back!) but nothing super spectacular."

  • "I chose to go to Founding Farmer's for my birthday on a Saturday afternoon. The food was excellent, service fabulous and the atmosphere is always fun. I had the chicken and waffles, which is always a good choice. Don't leave without having dessert, all of them are wonderful, especially Uncle Buck's Beignets."

  • "I love to visit this place for the brunch. (My opinion, here is better than D.C. inside location.) French toast, egg benedict.. all brunch foods what I taken is fresh and tasty. I would visit here when I return to the D.C. Recommend."

  • "I've been to F.Farmers a dozen times for brunch, lunch & dinner; both at the bar and in the dining area. Its consistent. The food is good, the mixed drinks are fabulous and the service is poor. I want to much to love this place - but just can't! They cannot get the timing of the service right - so tables don't turn over correctly - waits are too long, whether you are sitting, standing or you've made a reservation (i never go w/out a reservation unless I'm planning to sit at the bar). Its a shame - its almost a great spot!"

  • "We have been to Founding Farmers several times. It is a good restaurant not far from our home. The noise level and service are much better for an early dinner. This restaurant gets too loud and crowded later in the evening!"

  • "Food was very good - we, a party of 3, had three different pastas - the spaggetti bolognese, shrimp bucatti, and the pepper gnocchi. They were all delicious and filling. The only thing is that the sauces might have been a bit too rich for our tastes, but other than that, it was very satisfying. Also, the noise level was a bit much for dinner conversation, but it would be perfect for a less formal meal or a lunch/brunch among young people."

  • "All of my family members enjoyed their meals, but the service was SLOW, and the restaurant wasn't even all that full for a Saturday night. My grandmother ordered the blood orange soda and a few minutes after everyone but her received their drinks, she was finally brought a cherry soda without even being told that they were out of the flavor she ordered. By the time we finally received our food, my father's crab cake was cold, but he ate it anyway because we had waited so long, and he didn't want to have to wait any longer. A waitress did offer to take off the crab cake from the bill, but we were still not all that impressed with our experience."

  • "Even thought we were seated we did not get waited on for a while. When we were waited on our waiter was more interested in something other than us."

  • "My husband and I wanted a good brunch on a holiday weekend. We had great service and the food was very good; we each got a sandwich. The reuben and pulled pork were both delicious and festive summer options."

  • "We're tired of traditional 4th of July cookouts and wanted to do something different this year, so we headed to Founding Farmers for brunch. What a delight! The food was great (as always) and the service was good (as always.) The best part about our meal, however, was the wonderful friendship that we made with diners at the next table. Our impromptu party with the folks at the next table made for a memorable holiday thanks to Founding Farmers."

  • "Had not been to FF in a while - it's still as popular as ever. Service started off slowly and never really picked up. Out of our wine - told 5 minutes after we ordered. Out of an entree, again told long after we placed the order. Would it hurt to tell your staff in advance??? But when our food arrived, it was the best. Still delicious, generous portions and perfectly prepared. So what started as a dinner to be considered our final visit ended with a ray of hope."

  • "My wife and I were staying in the D.C. area and found this gem! Great farm to table restaurant, easy to find location and great ambiance. The service was sub-par in my opinion, but the staff was helpful when we had any questions. Definitely will return!"

  • "Met an old friend. Had fun with the beer tasting before we decided to compare the Northern Fried Chicken to the Southern Fried Chicken. Both were outstanding and had fun sharing. My husband had the Fish and Chips and that was great too. Fun place to meet and have drinks and share in conversation. Too wet to eat outside, but that would have even been better!"

  • "Founding Farmers in DC never disappoints, and the Montgomery County location is following perfectly in it's footsteps. The service and food at anytime of day is always amazing and I'll continue to return here again and again."

  • "We had dinner on a Thursday night. 7:30 Reservation on a Thursday night - we weren't seated until after 7:45 The noise level is way too high, it was difficult to hear the server or my date, much nicer at the DC location. Appetizers came out 15 minutes after ordering which was good; but then our main course came out 3 minutes later. When we complained the waitress offered to "keep it warm" in the kitchen. Not the right answer for seafood. The food was good, and our waitress was friendly."

  • "I have enjoyed this place much more in the past. I sad outside this time which I find uncomfortable. The service was not as good as the service inside. But it is still a great restaurant with really good food."

  • "Service was good, but my scrambled eggs were very dry, my friends scramble was undercooked. Pork sausage tasted old, not fresh, toast was cold. Would go back, but never get egg dish again."

  • "Founding Farmers is great! Four of us "ladies" including two teenagers, went for brunch on July 4th and had a wonderful time! The atmosphere was fun and energetic. Our server couldln't have been more pleasant and efficient. Wish I could remember his name! He was terrific! The food was delicious! Everything is fresh, tasty and even pretty! There is an incredible amount of choices on the menu - we enjoy the lunch and dinner menu as well. We will definitely be back! We highly recommend Founding Farmers."

  • "Went to Founding Farmers for my birthday. The food was delicious (loved the decadent red velvet pancakes!) but service was spotty and my birthday was ignored. Loved the choices but did expect better service. When she presented us with the check, the waitress said, "Oh, yeah, happy birthday.""

  • "An excellent vibrant restaurnat. Very welcoming and friendly. We were especially touched by the fact that we asked to be seated outside since we came with our dog, natasha who is our most beloved part of our family. We always struggle with very bad attitude of restaurants to accompany dogs. It always makes us very uppset. BUT founding farmers is really wonderful and welcoming. We recommend this restaurant for the food and the speciall attitude to pets."

  • "This is a restaurant with a terrific concept that is implemented to a "t"...the one observation is that it is almost too perfect in realizing the concept...makes it a bit more of what it is trying to be than something authentic...it is also just very big...lots of people give it a kind of "food factory" feel...all that being said, the staff was absolutely terrific, the food was excellent and we had a great time!"
