Founding Farmers - Montgomery Countymothers day, felt like date night! We have a family of 5. Children rqange from 9 to 18. We went during the week to avoid Mothers Day rush. It was fantastic! I have a daughter who is semi vegan, the menu gave multiple options for her. Our gracious meat eaters were satiated and our pasta loving fiend as well! My husband and I enjoyed the atmosphere, spacious, trendy, yet friendly feeling. All around everyone raved!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful!Brought a picky bunch and everyone found something on the menu that they loved!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, great timeMy family and I have been to Founding Farmers in Montgomery County several times for special occasions. The food is very good, especially the burgers and soups, and the service is excellent. We usually sit in the upstairs loft dining room - very comfortable and much quieter.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI can't wait to go back. TheI can't wait to go back. The entire menu sounds very appetizing.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat timeWe went to Founding Farmers for Mother's Day. Out reservation was for 1:30, but we didn't get seated until after 2pm. Wouldn't have been that bad, but the small lobby was tight with everyone waitin for a table. No seating and we were all in the way. In the servers way and patrons coming and going. Other than that, the food was fantastic and the service was good. I'll go again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and a Fun AtmosphereWe returned recently to Founding Fathers and once again experienced great food and a fun place to eat. The menu is very diverse and can accommodate any interests including specialty items, vegetarian etc. The prices were reasonable and the wait staff were courteous and attentive. This is our new favorite restaurant and would recommend it to everyone.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAll Fs: Fun, Fresh Food & Fabulous! Our server Brian was very personable and informative. The menu has all kinds of interesting items on it. The food is noticabley fresh. The five at our table ordered: Bananas Foster waffles; Chicken & Waffles, Crazy Corn Salad, Ahi Tuna Salad and Roasted Chicken. Everything was delicious and there was more than enough to eat. They syrup for the waffles was really good. The salads were very flavorful. The roasted chicken was moist and the honey glaze was infused throughout the chicken and not just on the skin. I had a vanilla egg cream ot drink which was really good too. We ordered the chocolate mousse for 2 and 5 spoons for dessert. It was very well done as it was very fluffy with great chocolate flavor. We will definitely be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchWe dined at FF for Mother's Day Brunch and while it was crowded, we had a reservation so had no problems. The waiters and waitresses were wonderful and attentive and all the staff was friendly and kind. The food was as amazing as one would expect from a farm-to-table style restaurant. Our table ordered a cheeseburger and fries for one person, pork and lentil stew with a side farmers salad for another and then a side of beneits and coffee afterwards. The beneits were amazing. Absolutely delicious. They come with 3 dipping sauces and are served hot with powdered sugar. We also had mimosas which were clearly made with fresh orange juice.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDrinks and food made from scratch! This place has the best sodas! All flavorings and even the ice is made in house. On this visit, we did not have any alcohol, but I k ow the "Dark and Stormy" is the best. The vegetarian options keep a wide group happy, but the fried chicken amd waffles are a great ode to southern cooking.
Tristan was a great server, knowledgeable about the menu and friendly and entertaining.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always, the food was veryAs always, the food was very good and our server, Michael, was great. Since the restaurant is so busy, the service is a bit slow. It took about 20 minutes to get a cocktail, all 3 times. The rest of the visit was very good however every time we have been there, the temperature in the building is always very warm. This time we were seated next to the windows and when the sun came shining in, it got extremely hot and was quite uncomfortable.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulWe loved our server, Yuri, and the food was delicious. The cocktails are a bit pricey, but we enjoy how thoughtful they are.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful for special occasionsWe ate here for our anniversary. The BBQ pulled pork was definitely the favorite and the Northern Fried Chicken was a close second. Definitely on the weekends make reservations as this is a Montgomery County favorite spot and it is always busy.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first visit to FoundingOur first visit to Founding Farmers in Potomac was a big hit. The food, service, and style exceeded our expectations. We'll return and recommend this terrific neighborhood restaurant to others. Great fun!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for full range of tastes/dietA wonderful and diverse vegetarian menu. The three in our party purposefully ordered from different parts of that menu and found each to be full-flavored, with complementary spices, and beautifully presented.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchWe took my mom here for Mother's Day and she loved it! The waitress was really knowledgeable and helpful when it came to questions about the menu. We ordered lunch and brunch items, the pan scramble and egg skillets are AMAZING! We also split beignets for an appetizer which are an absolute must. Overall, a fantastic brunch here, fun atmosphere and lots of menu options. We'll be returning!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Loud and CrazyThe food here is fantastic, but the environment lacks ambience, unless you like loud guests, crazy background music, and enjoy eating on the first floor of a steel and glass office building. Also, ask for a table with chairs as the booth seating places the table way too far away and you'll spend the meal hunched over to reach your plate (unless you already weigh over 300 pounds before you start eating). Servers are quite knowledgeable and well trained.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't go wrongI dine at Founding Farmers often and I've never been disappointed. I especially love their brunch. I can't live without the Bananas Foster stuffed french toast or the steak and eggs. You can definitely taste the difference with the farm-to-table local ingredients. The flavor in the steak is incredible. You also can't leave without trying one of their house-made sodas, fresh squeezed juices or a handcrafted beer. I like the MoCo location a bit better because it's a little less hectic than downtown, but great nonetheless. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMQuickly Becoming a RegularConsistently great food and drinks. Food has great flavor and always seems fresh. The place is always busy which is a good sign but can be a drag even with reservations. On the negative side, big crowds means big noise. The place is loud5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDate night this past Friday.Date night this past Friday. Place gets packed, make a reservartion. We waited a few minutes for our table but there isn't actually any waiting area, which is uncomfortable. Server was fantastic (and cute), I think his name was Thomas? He brought my boyfriend probably the girliest drink I've ever seen when he ordered the bartender's pick. Be warned, that was a 14$ drink... not worth it. Bread & spread app was a great way to start, I had the wild mushroom ravioli and he had the new york strip. Both very good. The beignets came highly recommended for dessert, but they were weird. When you bit into them, they were FILLED WITH OIL. It wasn't even that they hadn't been properly drained, they were just filled with oil.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMNew experienceThis was our first time. We enjoyed the drink menu. Wide variety of food choices. Loud dinning area. Would come back.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen the assigned waiter wasWhen the assigned waiter was busy, another guy stepped in--and that was a good thing, so that we didn't have too long of a wait.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSeparate vegetarian menuI was totally impressed with having a separate vegetarian menu they listed as "meatless". This was the first time I walked away completely full and enjoyed every single bit. I'll be back. Thank you.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely as alwaysAnother lovely meal. Service was a bit slow for a Tuesday night, but our waitress made up for it with a pleaser smile and popcorn.
All of us enjoyed our meals. Chicken and waffles definitely won for best meal.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNick & Nora?We love Founding Farmers and we go there often since we live across the street. We are only here about five months a year, but it is always enjoyable, great food, very attentive and concientious servers. We went for dinner there the other night and we were perplexed that you do not have Martini glasses. Nick & Nora glasses was what we were told. two of us ordered Martini's and they were fine except they came in an old fashioned glass, not a Martini. We ordered them straight up and were surprised when they cane that way. Nick & Nora Charles were fictional detectives in the 30's on radio and I remember listening to them. but the glasses are silly. I love the place but get real Martini glasses.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was very accommodatingThe staff was very accommodating and didnot rush us through our meal.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMKeep coming back.Founding Farmers is one of best restos I've been to - definitely a hidden neighborhood gem. Fresh farm to table food, a bit pricey but you get your money's worth. Customer service is excellent! Their "Farmacy" concept is unique and I like the fact that they make their own sodas, even if they are a bit tart. Best to make reservations - I always do - if you want seating at a decent time and not having to wait for a long time for a table. Oh, and they have vegan/vegetarian options. Cool!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMgood breakfast and great coffeeWe'd been to the one in dc and really liked it. So we were extremely excited when they decided to open one up in MoCo. But the first time we went the breakfast was as good as we remembered but the service was not good. It was shortly after they had opened so I guess they just needed time because this time around the service was excellent.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMsomething different in the burbsGreat variety of well-prepared foods. All organic and cooked to order. Funky tasting cocktails though, and ridiculously priced at $14.00. The upstairs dining area is way too brightly lit-feels like a cafeteria.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice upscale casual diningDiverse menu with fresh seasonal offerings. Nice environment for relaxing evening out or special occasion.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and great service/menuAmazing food and great service/menu advice from our waiter on 5/4/13 - thanks Brian!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed ourWe thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Founding Farmers. Our server was delightful and just attentive enough. The selection of items on the menu is pretty incredible. The food was yummy - scallops, salmon, cheeseburger and the fried chicken and waffles were the choices we made and they were all good. It's a fun place to be and we will be going back!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI will returnI live in Baltimore and first visited the Founding Farmers in DC - which I loved. Saturday was my fiance's birthday and I didn't feel like dealing with DC traffic and parking so we decided to try this location. It was easy to find and parking was abundant around lunch time (I think it might be a little bit crowded during the evening). I think the area needs a bit more shops, after walking around for 10 minutes we decided to go to Bethesda Row. I had the cobb salad which was great but only had 3 shrimp? He had the chicken and waffles of course. Our waitress laughed when he asked to sub the mac and cheese (hey everyone doesn't like cheese ok?). I told them that it was his birthday, a little slice of something sweet would have been nice:/5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFounding Farmers is such aFounding Farmers is such a fun concept and so well executed. Don't expect fine dining ambience...just wonderful service and some of the finest food in MoCo.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved Founding FarmersI had enjoyed dinner at the downtown location and was skeptical of going out to Potomac Park thinking the restaurant might feel too suburban. However, you can't beat the convenient parking and the interior space is large, airy and interesting. My friend and I split two salads - the fried chicken salad and the ahi tuna salad and both were excellent. The tuna was extraordinary. I love that they leave a bottle of water on the table and refill it often. Our server was friendly and attentive. I will definitely return.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were celebrating a birthdayWe were celebrating a birthday and they did a great job with a very large party. Love the menu, the food , the drinks. Everything.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent choicesI thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Founding Farmers. I had the fish and chips. I was a little disappointed that the fries were super thin, but they were still tasty. My favorite part of the meal was the mango soda that was a special drink of the day. It was delicious.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find!Only complaint was the noise level. The food was outstanding. Scallops were cooked to perfection! Meatloaf was very tasty. Next time will only order 1 desert to share. They are huge! (And delicious!) Beignets were fabulous. So many items on the menu we want to try, so will definitely return.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice experience. FoodVery nice experience. Food tasty and service great.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodHad lunch with a friend last week. Food was delicious. Noise level was fine - we could talk easily. We had the dips to start which were very tasty. could have done with a slightly bigger pot of each though. Fish and chips were great. My friend had a fried chicken salad which she enjoyed.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat New Veg MenuWe are very appreciative that FF has once again provided vegetarians and vegans with upscale and unique choices (that's plural!) for dining. Far from the ordinary far, FF ups the ante with surprising and delicious choices. My husband had a mushroom reuben and I had a grilled cauliflower "steak" - both wonderfully interesting and thoughtful, as well. And best yet, these weren't our only choices! A veg meatloaf was raved about by the staff as well as other options will keep us coming back. Thanks for catching up with your downtown sister restaurant who has had a vegan menu for a while.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderfulWe came as breakfast was ending cause I thought brunch would go later during the week -- the staff was so flexible; kitchen wanted to stop breakfast service but waited for my late friends; the wait staff was helpful and courteous and the food was so delicious.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food selection is veryThe food selection is very similar to the downtown location's. Availability of some dishes is spotty, but what they have is delicious. The cocktail selection is similarly impressive, as are the non-alcoholic beverages made in-store. The wine list isn't much, and beer selection is limited. Appetizers are delicious and very reasonably prices: try the Brett B's peanuts and the pickled seasonal vegetables. Great selection of vegetarian/vegan entrees, sandwiches and salads, all very clearly labeled on the menu.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was wonderful.Everything was wonderful. The food was great as always. I never seem to have enough room for dessert, but I'll have to make room for it next time. Our waiter was fabulous - accommodating our overgrown group.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMNiceAlthough the food was fabulous, the service was the best part of the experience.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food and service,Wonderful food and service, although a bit noisy, but great for kids!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMTop-notch dining experienceFresh, delicious food. Very knowledgable staff. Highly recommend!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went on the late side (9:30ish)We went on the late side (9:30ish) for dessert--delicious coffee and wonderful cakes. Just found, tho, we had to stay pretty loud just to be heard above the din...and yet worry about annoying the couple at the table next to us....4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMService is consistently slowService is consistently slow here - this is our 4th visit and it seems to be even worse. Yes, the restaurant was full - it always is. We love it but they need to get their act together.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI only have excellent serviceI only have excellent service and mouth watering food here!!!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI love a good breakfast placeI love a good breakfast place and am glad to have made the trek to MD for breakfast. I checked Open Table for a reservation and was disappointed to only find one for 1:15pm --which meant over an hour if we had to wait. I made the reservation and crossed my fingers we could squeeze in earlier since we were past the brunch crowd. When we arrived, it was busy but had a few empty tables so we lucked out and got a table right away.
The staff were fantastic--very warm and friendly even though they were swamped with people at various stages of their meal. Our server even took extra time pointing out various items.
The food was plentiful and tasty. I'll definitely be back since the menu isn't limited by any means. I highly recommend the bei4/27/2013 12:00:00 AM
