We've been to FF's before, and always like coming back as the atmosphere, food and service are fantastic! They sat us in the upstairs section this time, which we liked as it wasn't as noisy as the main level. I had the Gnocchi's with shrimp and scallops in a cream sauce. Delicious! We always get the corn bread, and we started off with the bacon lollies. Again, both were delicious! We will definitely go back.

The food is fabulous, hard to choose what to have as everything looks and sounds so great. A lot of "down home " food, I LOVE the chicken and waffles, but overall a great range of choices. And I was pleasingly surprised that the prices don't need to break the bank (altho those are there too). Will definitely be going back-there are so many things on the menu I want to try. The only downside is the noise level which can be daunting, but at my most recent visit a request for a quieter table with the reservation was honored, and did help quite a bit.

I was expecting healthy choices, reasonable prices, and knowledgeable service because I was introducing two colleagues to the restaurant at lunchtime. I learned that our meals were "held" when the server discovered that the special I ordered was not $20 but was $26-I decided that the cost was more than I wished to spend before beverage, tax and gratuity so I changed my order. The entire order was not served until more than 45 minutes after arrival - in my opinion that is not acceptable at lunchtime. The salad I ordered was a tiny serving, the soup was acceptable. Fish and chips were a small serving-two small pieces of fish with some fries and chips. Underwhelmed- I do not anticipate returning. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.

My boyfriend took me to dinner at Founding Farmers for my birthday, and it was the perfect way to celebrate! We got the fried green tomatoes and bacon lollis to start, and I had the meatless meatloaf for dinner. The food was excellent! The only downfall was that the drinks were very weak for the price. Other than that, a great experience. We can't wait to try it for brunch!

Founding Farmers is a fun restaurant that prides itself on using all ingredients found at local farms. Some of our menu favorites are the seasonal Rickey drinks, the chicken and waffles, seafood deviled eggs, the cornbread and lobster mac and cheese. For the moderate price range, this is a fun place to eat. My kids also enjoy coming here and the service is good and quick.

We always have a good time at Founding Farmers. You must make reservations since the wait for brunch can be up to an hour and a half. It is always pleasing, but never spectacular. I normally bring out of town friends here since it's special, but I don't regularly go here. Also, I've never understood bringing kids here (or to most restaurants, for that matter)--it's loud and crowded enough without screaming babies and strollers. The service is always amazing--I'm never disappointed with the waitstaff or hosts.

When a reservation at the DC address could not be had, this location was able to seat our party of 5 easily. The place was busy, but not hurried. The biscuits are delicious but the overall breakfast was not quite as good as I remember from a past visit. The coffee was fine, not great, and the homemade jam was very runny. We were seated upstairs which doesn't have the ambiance of the downstairs seating. Still, the prices are reasonable, the food is good although I would rather return for lunch. The salads were excellent.

We had a reservation, yet we waited over 30 minutes as I saw them seating people who were on a waiting list instead of getting those with reservations sat. Appetizers were the highlight. Mussels were excellent. Unfortunately that item was the only good one. Service barely OK, rarely saw our waiter. Other food was mediocre at best. Mashed potatoes cold, fries room temp. My prime rib (which I requested as an end cut, but was not, had been placed on a flat top griddle. I think they were trying to fool me. Meatloaf was dry.

We took a friend over for dinner before going to the airport. The food was just delicious and attractively prepared. We tried from their bread selections the one with brie, jam. apple. Nice combination. Also tried their corn bread which I always enjoy. Their butternut squash soup had a particular pleasant gingery taste - it was to die for. All very fresh and yummy. We had salmon -tasty and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately my husband decided for their meatloaf and was mostly pink (uncooked). He did not opt to return it so he did not enjoy it as much for that reason. Only for that I will rate it a 4 but everything else was excellent.

We had been looking forward to breakfast, especially the French press coffee. During previous visits, they had run out of pots to serve. Fortunately (or so we thought) they had 1 left for us. The server arrived 10 minutes later to serve the coffee. Despite the lid not fitting tightly on the pot, he (the server) began plunging/pressing the coffee. Within a few seconds, the pressure caused the piping hot coffee (and grinds) to escape the unsealed lid and spray all over my bf, burning his neck & chest. His sweater & pants were covered in hot coffee & grounds. The Manager completed an accident report. We left holding an ice pack to his neck wearing only his undershirt. Needless to say we did not stay for breakfast... or coffee.

We went on a Saturday night with the Family, the front desk was the worst. Didn't want to help, made reservations and they seemed to ignore them. The only saving grace was the Manager, she made sure we got the table when we were in que for it. I feel that the one gentlemen behind the front desk did not want to seat us. Once we got to the table the server, was distant and did not seem to want to be working, and was not attentaive. Then to top it off, the kitchen was out of many main dishes and deserts, by 8:30pm?? I hope they were having a bad night, we like the location in the district, but will think twice before attending this one in Montgomery County.

I had a 7:45PM reservation for 5 Saturday for my son's 17 birthday,we showed up about 15 mins. early. After waithing for 25 mins(10 past when we should have been seated) I was told it would still be another 25 mins before they could seat my party. They were still working on the 7 and 7:15 reservations, and with a party of 5 there were only so many tables that they could put us at. I have liked Founding Farmers in the past and enjoyed the food, but this experience has left me very disappointed. My 83 year old father was with us and standing even for the 25 minutes was painful for him. He is not the type to sit at the bar, if you can even find a seat. And they have such a cramped waiting area that you are bumpping into people left and right.

So far, when my family comes to DC, we've eaten at Founding Farmers DC, Farmers Fishers Bakers in Georgetown, and now Founding Farmers in Potomac. It has gotten to the point that it's basically a given whenever my family visits that we'll do a dinner or brunch outing at one of these locations, and Founding Farmers in Potomac was just as good as the other spots, so this tradition will likely continue for a long time to come. Delicious at any location, at any time of year, and for any meal. Nothing disappoints--everything is delicious. One dish that was particularly spectacularly tasty was the brussel sprouts. Simply amazing--possibly the most delicious brussel sprouts I've ever had (and I love brussel sprouts)!

I have dined before at the original Founding Farmers and loved the experience. However, the Montgomery County location has a bit of work to do before it will be as great--the food was more or less as it should be (with the exception of one dish arriving lukewarm), but the pacing and quality of service really undercut the kitchen's performance.

Steak was ordered medium-well was served RARE! Their solution was to take the same piece of meat and "put some heat on it". These were the managers words when he returned the steak to our table. NO apologies were offered in any manner. The waitress was rearly seen, and we had to wait several minutes to place our order. After the under-cooked steak arrived the first time, we waited quite a while for the expected "how is everything", but since this did not materialize, we finally resorted to flagging down the waitress to send the steak back to the kitchen. After so many positive experiences here, will return and hope this was an aberration.
