Normally, I LOVE Founding Farmers. This was the first time (out of about 8-9 visits) I had a mediocre experience. The food is normally wonderful, but my sister's salad with chicken was full of cartilage scraps. Must have been a mistake. The hostess was kind of rude. I guess, even favorite restaurants can have a bad day.

It's not that the food wasn't good, it was but I had heard so much about how great the food is that perhaps I was expecting better. It's wholesome and you do feel that you're eating quality food but it just didn't meet up to my expectations. This was my second visit to the restaurant and I went away feeling the same on both occasions. I was most impressed with the friendly service. And do they get all their wait staff out of a A&F catalogue? The waiters were all great looking! The noise level was quite high. We sat upstairs on both occasions. I was glad for that because it seemed downstairs was noisier. I will go back again, don't get me wrong, but my expectations are now set for what to expect when it comes to the food.

We took some friends to Founding Farmers for Sunday dinner because we have been consistently impressed by the food and service on previous visits. Our friends were very impressed by the range of the menu selections and the quality of the food. My hard to please friends were effusive with their praise, something I don't expect from them. Congratulations to Founding Farmers for making a great first impression.

Location not attractive, had to wait 15 minutes after reservation time and very noisy. However, we love the brunch, the restaurant, and the food. We have been back several times. Menu is somewhat unique. We had ordered a meal "to go" and they forgot to include gravy which was important to this meal.

Food is delicious and service is good. Food arrived in timely manner and hot. Variety of menu items is great, something for every appetite and dietary need. Enjoyed brunch w/my 97 year old mom, but waiting area is extremely crowded and dodging all the incoming and outgoing patrons was a real challenge. Also, elevator for handicapped and eldery entrance way was blocked by excess chairs and high chairs being stored in the hallway, and the door swings out, which hit my mother in the back because she had no room to maneuver. And, requiring the elevator to be unlocked and accessed with the help of staff seems unnecessarily cumbersome. Going down was not much better. If this is an accommodation to "handicap" accessible, it is a very poor one.

Made a Sunday Brunch reservation, noting the occasion of celebrating my wife's birthday. Requested a table away from the bar/kitchen/server station. Waited 15 minutes after the reservation time to be seated - the seated next to a serving station. No other tables available unless we desired a longer wait. The dining area was completely filled, with a large group of people in front of the revolving door waiting to be seated. Ordered a waffle to share before the main breakfast platters. Waffle arrived cold, butter would not melt. After taking our order, the waiter disappeared - he was busy to his credit with several other tables. The main breakfast platters - one platter was missing an item. We informed another waiter of the error - he apologized and a "manager" arrived to apologize as well. The check arrived with no credit for the cold waffle or missing platter item. The "manager" suddenly appeared and then offered to adjust the amount. The breakfast food, really, was not special. A similar platter from IHop or Bob Evans would compare equally with the Founding Farmers offering. Save your money for a lunch or dinner at FF, but skip the brunch - it's all hype and show.

Walked into a very unique space that is well designed and my first reaction was, "Wow." We were seated in a very busy restaurant on time. I will say that the spicy Bloody Mary's that my wife and I had were outstanding. So was the food.

We arrived on time for our 8:30 seating to find the waiting area mobbed. Seemed everyone with a reservation was being forced to wait. We were told they were running behind a bit in table turnover and it would be 15-20 minutes before they would seat us. We begrudgingly went to the crowded bar and ordered drinks. After 25 minutes, we went back to the desk and asked for our status. They said they were just beginning to seat the 8:30 reservations. After another 15 minute wait we returned and demanded to be seated immediately, which was accommodated. No offer of a complimentory anything in order to make up for our wait. If a restaurant of this caliber cannot manage their table turnover and reservation planning, they don't deserve our business.

I love Founding Farmers but we were there on a busy Saturday night where they were off their game. We had a 7:30 reservation but we were told when we arrived that they were running 45 minutes late, even with a reservation. Would have been nice if they could have called or texted us. We had a drink at the bar while waiting and nothing was offered to appease us while we waited. When we were finally seated, our server was upbeat and attentive. They brought the wrong food to our table twice and got the order wrong for one of us when the food did arrive. WE ordered many old favorites and they arrived lukewarm and hastily thrown on the plate missing some key ingredients. Will return but likely not on a Saturday night.

This was our second visit within a month. The first one was very average and we had some service issues. This time we had the same front of the house problem as the first and it just left a bad taste (no pun intended). We had a 7pm reservation; arrived about 6:55. We were told that they were about 15 minutes behind which was fine. At about 7:20 we asked when we would be seated and were told that there were many tables that had their checks and it would be very soon. At 7:30 we checked in again to be told that, oh so sorry, our table was given away to the wrong party. Second time in two visits this happened. As none of the food was outstanding and the atmosphere is hectic, we probably will not return.

We were about two minutes late for our reservation so we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. Food was pretty good. Service was ok. They make their own soda so if you want a Coca-Cola, they bring it to you in a can. One of our canned sodas was flat. No free refills. Two people in my party were not given their "change" back from their bill payment (i.e., change due from bill was $6.33. Customer was given $6). We had to ask for our change. Is this customary?

I've been here 3 times. I've always enjoyed the food, and the service seems above and beyond what you get from most other restaurants in the area. I recommend reservations during peak hours. The place has a busy bar, so it can get quite loud. They have an upstairs area I've never used, but would imagine it would be quieter up there if you were looking for more peace. Front parking can be hard to find, but there is an underground garage and they will validate parking for 2 hours.

My group had reservations at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. We were seated right away, but waited a while for a waitress to come to our table (she told us she had just gotten to work and so didn't know the specials or beer list that night and had to get those before taking our drink orders). The group split a few appetizers, but did not get our dinners until about 6:15. Three of us ordered the Southern Chicken on the waitresses recommendation, which was apparently the dish holding everything up. The other three dishes came out first, and were all a bit cold as they had obviously been ready for quite a while. The manager came over to apologize and brought up complimentary biscuits. The food was great, but the service was lacking.

This place had different atmosphere from the D.C branch. This specific location is great for parties and group gatherings for people who want great good and restaurant, but can be slightly loud. I had Skirt steak and Enchilada and that was a great choice! Somehow the corn had blend taste even though there were some seasonings, but enchilada had some taste, so it was a good combination. The steak was little bit more cooked then how I want my mid-rare want to be, but it was still tender with great texture.

My husband and I enjoy dining at Founding Farmers for breakfast and brunch. However, this visit wasn't as enjoyable as our previous visits. Our server wasn't as attentive as we would have liked her to be and the food was well below the quality we're used to from FF. However, my husband informed the manager that we weren't happy with our meals and he offered to pay for our next meal. I would have preferred to have an immediate solution, but I was satisfied and I will definitely return to FF.

It was my third time going, and as usual the food there was excellent and the staff was friendly. In all the times I went there, it was a bit noisy for my taste, but that is a minor thing. If going, I would highly recommend making a reservation early and getting there early. In the past, when making the reservation, I have found that occasionally there some times aren't available for my party size even about a day in advance. Get there early too, you may need to wait for your table because of how crowded it is.

to this Founding Farmers and I'll be back again. The food is just outstanding- bacon lollies, had the biscuits tonight, everything is just so good. I'm not sure if they were under-staffed tonight or what but the service tonight wasn't as good as our last visit. We had a reservation and still had to wait for about 15 minutes. Also, our server wasn't around much and when he was at the table he seemed to be pretty rushed. Everything else is so outstanding though, I'll try it again and see if this was a fluke!

This is a very busy, rather noisy restaurant in North Bethesda/Potomac. There is a big bar which looked like a pretty convivial scene. It seemed that you can order food from the bar which would be good for drop ins who don''t want to wait for a table. If you want a table reservations are a must, at least on weekends. Our server was very nice and worked hard but with the level of activity it was a struggle. There were the dreaded "dead moments" that all restaurant patrons hate; water comes then a long wait. Bar order is taken then a long wait. Biscuits did not arrive with the meals because of a delay in the kitchen, etc. Food was quite good and the price is reasonable. A fun and lively place but be prepared for an uneven experience.

This restaurant markets itself as serving farm fresh food. Honestly, I can't tell if the food is or isn't, but the menu is different from the normal with several unique items (the Popcorn is a must try, as is the Corn bread - and they have a lot of bread options if corn isn't the one for you). The food is good, and, again, you'll enjoy the reading the menu. The restaurant is lively, almost loud and was crowded when we went. We made reservations, and they couldn't seat us early, because of the rush, even early on a Sunday. I didn't mind, however, because all of the staff really was running around - not one lazy person on the floor! Nice to see. This is a good place, fun. Not the best food, but not the usual fare either.

Although I prefer the original location in DC, we were still impressed with the food quality (sometimes that tends to differ from location to location). The MoCo location had ample parking in the garage below and they validate (first 2 hrs are free). Like the original location, even if you have a reservation, you will still be waiting around 15-20 mins before you get seated. This location also seems to have more open times than the DC location as well.

I went here for brunch with a friend from out of town that I hadn't seen in a long time. Our waitress was very friendly, I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup, our food arrived quickly and was nothing short of amazing, and at the end of our meal, we didn't feel rushed to leave our table (despite the crazy long line of people waiting for a table) so we were able to sit and chat for just a little while longer (but we made sure we tipped well). The only problem we had was that the tables were a little too close together, so the lady that was sitting next to us dragged an edge of her coat through my butter, jam, ketchup, and hot sauce, but it really wasn't that big of a deal.

Can't say enough good things about FF; food simply scrumptious from beginning to end! Great service and fun atmosphere. Not a place for an intimate conversation, but come with a bunch of friends for a terrific night out!

Good food, but crowded and loud. upstairs, it was a bit calmer. Waitress was attentive, but we waited 30 min. For our corn bread appetizer. Parking was difficult.

This restaurant is not as good as the one downtown. The service was adequate but not great. The food was ok but not exceptional. It was a disappointment.

We were a large party and the food did not come out the same time with 2 meals delayed and the biscuits arriving very late. Several of the egg dishes were lukewarm or cold. The server was very good however and the manager addressed our needs and reduced our bill.

Took my wife to eat out here on a whim. The menu items were great for me, an all-American "meat & potatoes" kinda guy. The waiter took the time to explain the story behind the restaurant's purpose and to make custom tweaks to my wife's order to suit her taste. Beer selection is good too.
