Diner Reviews
  • "Our reservation was not timely honored. Took 30 minutes to find out they had no diet coke. Not typical good service we have had here."

  • "We were there on a Tuesday night, the place was packed. It was noisy. At the bar while I waited for my date, the bartender was quick and got me one of the best drinks I've ever had. But when my date showed up he was nowhere to be found. As my reservation time approached the hostess said they'd come find me when the table was ready. Twenty minutes later I went to find them. We were seated right away with apologies for the misunderstanding. At the table as at the bar, initial service was quick and then after that it got much slower, but was always professional. Food was good, it wasn't as great as the drinks."

  • "My fifth meal at Founding Farmer's over a nine-day period proved to be by far the best. Although I'd met friends there for dinner the night before, the following night I was there with my family. Our food choices included the delicious chicken wing appetizers, which featured a tantalizing sauce...they were literally finger-licking good. I restrained myself after eating two despite the temptation of the plate before me. My vanilla soda was delicious as always. My plank salmon was delicious, and the green beans were perfectly done. Two of my dining companions enjoyed the cranberry and brie turkeyless burger. One loved her meal, the other compared it to a veggie burger on a previous menu and was dissatisfied. Good food well prepared."

  • "A nice local restaurant. I ordered the fish and chips. It arrived warm and the chips were a little soggy. Old Bay spice was added to the fish which impaired rather than enhanced the flavor. I was going to send it back but decided I didn't want my friend to eat while I just sat there waiting for my food. Our server was good and very helpful when my friend asked about Gluten-free items on the menu. I may return but I would definitely order something different."

  • "Fried Green Tomatoes are not vegetarian -- fried in animal fat. Curious! We were upstairs which was clearly being used as an office/meeting for management but at least it was quieter. Our server seems significantly clueless, forgetting an appetizer order, a promised refill of an iced tea. Three apologies later from various team members but too late in the meal to follow up on the appetizer. No other offer was presented to us. Prices should come down about $2-3 per dish to make up for the consistently inconsistent service and noise."

  • "There are some very special choices on this menu for those who enjoy a sweet and plentiful breakfast! Portion control is definitely not found in Founding Farmer's vocabulary. Go for a special occasion and enjoy this unique breakfast with friends, family, or those visiting this area for the first time. What a treat!"

  • "LOVED IT AND WILL BE RETURNING OFTEN. WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE LIQUOR LIST MY SADA WAS AMAZING AND I HAVE NOT HAD A BURGER THAT GOOD SINCE I WAS IN MEXICO. THE POPCORN WAS TO DIE FOR :)"

  • "Everything is delicious and unique. Large menu, lots of selection. Would definitely recommend!"

  • "Simple breakfast took an extremely long time to arrive. The two scrambled eggs were undercooked and re cooking them took more than twenty minutes. When delivered, they were tasteless."

  • "There were a lot of problems during our dinner here. They seemed to be out of a lot of dishes; everyone at my table tried ordering something that they were out of, and it was frustrating to hear "we are out of that" over and over. When my friend tried to order the flank steak (which was listed on the menu), they told us that they don't even have that item anymore. At some point after we'd finished our appetizers someone came out to let my husband know that they were out of the dish he'd ordered, and that he had to choose something else. At the end of the meal, he was charged for both entrees -- the one he actually ate, and the one that they were out of. When our entrees finally came out, my friend's steak and vegetables were very cold."

  • "Once again, Farming Farmer's did not fail to impress. This place is always crowded, I'd suggest reservations."

  • "The home cooked feel of some of their items ,causes me to suspect that my Grand mother is somewhere back in the kitchen:-)"

  • "I've ususally been very happy with brunch at Founding Fathers. This past Saturday was an exception. I'd hoped to have blueberry pancakes which have been very good in the past. The griddle was broken so pancakes were not available to me. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich instead. The mix of cheeses was very tastey, but the bread was *way too thick*! Way too thick. Please consider slicing your bread so it's not so thick. The thick bread was both too filling and also distracting from the cheese."

  • "The physical properties of the room seem to amplify noise. When busy (as it was during our visit) it is VERY LOUD. Our server was high energy. Too much so. I think he had the best intentions, but was much too long-winded / talkative, especially when delivering the "canned" speech given to first-time patrons. Some of the food (like the basic french toast) was amazing/delicious. The eggs on two of the plates we ordered had a very strong metallic taste and were virtually inedible. A member of our party has a nut allergy. She had an allergic reaction to the pink peppercorns (turns out they're a part of the cashew family) in the dish she ordered. I would expect the restaurant to know this. The sweet tea wasn't to my liking. The OJ was tasty."

  • "This farm to table restaurant is incredible!!! They offer an extensive menu of delicious dishes and also have a variety of wines and cocktails. The food is both fresh and full of flavor. The bacon wrapped dates were amazing!!! Will definitely return!"

  • "The food was OK tonight. Service was lousy; she was slammed though. I had asked to be away from the bar because I had people who are hearing-inpaired. The hostess sat us NEXT TO THE BAR! Maybe they couldn't read? Used to be one of my favorite; not so much now."

  • "The highlight of my experience at Founding Farmers was breakfast, which was outstanding! I enjoyed my hot buttermilk biscuit and my dining companion said the English muffin was outstanding. I enjoyed my bacon and my friend liked the chicken sausage very much. We both had eggs, and leek hash browns, and the food was very good. Although the construction is still ongoing outside, the noise was not nearly as bad as it was earlier in the week. Service was a bit slow, we had to ask the hostess to find our waitress, but she was very pleasant when she was there. Overall, the standout of the morning was the food which was delicious."

  • "My boyfriend and I decided to go to Founding Fathers for dinner last minute on Thursday afternoon. As always, I checked Open Table and found an available 7:15 pm slot which was perfect. We arrived to find the new parking garage open so parking is now super convenient. We were seating immediately and started with the table biscuits and each ordered an El Presidente, my favorite cocktail. The bread was delivered promptly and was served with great dipping options. It was amazing and incredibly fresh; would definitely order again. For dinner my SO had the prime rib with potatoes and asparagus and I had the lobster mac and cheese. The food was absolutely amazing! Both entrees were cooked to perfection and made dinner a memorable occasion!"

  • "Brought a tech client for lunch. Enjoyed the eclectic menu of reimagined favorites. Not to loud that we couldn't discuss details and still feel we had a private conversation. Even better next when he said he would pick up the tab."
    Dined on 8/14/2014
  • "The food at Founding Farmers is quite good, but the slow service and high noise level detracts from the experience. It is nearly impossible to have a conversation with others at your table, and both times I have dined here we have waited over 30 minutes after we were seated before our waiter/waitress stopped by the table to take our order. I very much like the concept of this restaurant, but would be very hesitant to return for another meal. Also, carefully review your check - we were offered an order of biscuits "on the house" because of the slow service, and then were charged for them, as well as an appetizer we had ordered which came out with our check. There is potential here, but lots of quirks that still need to be worked out."

  • "The place was noisy - very noisy. We did not get our appetizer and it took forever to get our food and drinks. People who came in after we did were served timely, but we seemed to have been overlooked. We could not even spot our waiter to ask. Someone else served our meal. My date's pot roast was not hot, but alright. My hamburger was ok, but the bottom bun was so wet from the potato salad, it was useless. Finally the waiter came to see if our food was ok and realized we did not get our first course. It was as if it was not big deal - haha it happens. Not a local favorite."

  • "I have generally enjoyed dining at Founding Farmers. A recent breakfast proved the exception to the rule. I wish I had known that construction workers were digging outside the restaurant as the noise permeated the entire space. Diners were greeted with the perfume of gasoline, from the construction. Service was slower than usual, and it was hard to have a conversation. The food was, as always, very good. I am certain that this is a temporary inconvenience but could wish I had known about it ahead of time."

  • "Heard great reviews. Went there for our 39 wedding anniversary. A total let down. No ambiance at all. Ordered drinks, my husband ordered a speciality drink. I ordered a martini dirty on the side. It came in a wine glass already mixed with olive juice. I sent it back and they brought another martini in an old fashion type champagne glass. Don't they have martini glasses? Drinks are way too expensive $26.00 for 2. Food was average at best plus at 5:15 on a Sunday afternoon, they were already out of 2 sides which we ordered. At the end of the dinner, we thought we would get a complimentary dessert being that it was our anniversary, all we got was "happy anniversary". Thumbs down on this one. Sorry Founding Farmers."

  • "The last two times I have been here, even with reservations, it's been total chaos. Going to the bathroom in the middle of lunch is like fighting a pack of wolves. Servers spill drinks, but don't clean them up. They don't refill drinks and sometimes you have to remind them you need silverware to eat. Why do I come back? The food is out of control good, that's why. However, you guys have to figure out this service/overcrowding issue."

  • "In a family with some particular eaters Founding Farmers really does have something for everyone. On Sunday for Brunch they offer not only their Brunch menu, but their regular Lunch menu as well. Great for those of us who wanted eggs, sandwiches, and french toast. Drinks are great and inventive, though during Brunch be prepared to wait a while for one of the signature cocktails. Brunch is very busy, so make a reservation but don't be surprised if there is still a short wait. Service was a bit on the slower side so next time we will probably just eat at the bar."

  • "we went to FF for brunch and it was great. we may the open table reservation several days in advance because there were 5 of us and we know how busy FF gets. No wait when we arrived and our server was attentive. Our party included kids and seniors. FF is not super kid friendly since there is no kid menu or portion sizing. It's also a bit loud for the senior citizen set. however, the food is worth it! i had the chicken and candied corn tart-- totally amazing-- and the chicken and waffels were a hit, as always. if FF did free refills on cokes and farmer's tea, it would make my family more frequent fliers here."

  • "Okay--the bad--first time diners, celebrating and asked for special table in open table reservation, put at worst table in the whole restaurant. We sat on bar stools--actually 5 year old spent most of time under bar stool. Not relaxing. Bacon and hash browns not cooked well--I mean really poorly cooked. Not a kid-friendly restaurant. Would be nice if they offered kid portions and had a kids menu. On to the good-->our server Adam was awesome, the rest of the food was good and the bar beverages were great. The restaurant is extremely noisy and the outside looked lovely. Arrive early and wait for outside seating not sure I would want to eat inside the restaurant again."

  • "Not the first time here. Food was excellent starting with the kettle corn popcorn. Perfect and bountiful. Drinks were a bit strong, but no complaints here. Really missed the pork chops on the menu, but made due with the gnocci dish which was splendid. My wife is now 6 for 6 on ordering the salmon on plank which is absolutely superb. The strawberry lemonade sorbet was delicious. Service was fantastic. Once again, a can't miss place to go."

  • "I have been to Founding Farmers many times and had great service, but the service this time was terrible. Our server was not friendly, which would not have bothered me if the service was good. The restaurant was not busy at all and yet our server seemed to either completely forget our requests or take at least 10-15 minutes each time. He forgot to put in one of our orders, so we cancelled it. They did later give us the order for free. The food was delicious except there was an eggshell in the eggs we ordered. I would still recommend the restaurant since we usually get great service, and it is one of the few decent brunch spots in the area."

  • "I met 2 friends here for brunch Saturday morning. The service was great, the food was outstanding. We did not feel rushed as in some restaurants."

  • "I had a different experience this time. The first time I went there the menu had descriptrions of the dish, this time, they compressed the menu so no descriptions of the dish. (I think that is a misstep). Before I could tell which dishes were vegetarion, vegan or had nuts etc; now not so much. We would have to ask the server who was did not seem confident; Plus it was so loud it was hard to hear her. The vegetarian dishes were ok, the chicken dishes were good. (better last time). Last time we were told there was no coke served here, however, this time it was available, so I am wondering if I got scammed into buying a homemade soda last time. I tried the special soda and it was good. Overall good experience, but it was better the first time."

  • "I'm so glad we went a second time to Founding Farmers. The first time (about 2 weeks ago, also on a Friday night) was fun, but the drinks were very very slow to come and some of the dinner selections and dessert were disappointing. That time the fried chicken wasn't well seasoned, the collard greens were not very tasty and were not overcooked, which they should be! And the Red Devil Cake was dry. This time everything was good, although the mac and lobster underwhelming, the bar service better, and the sides, salmon, prime rib, and short ribs excellent! Overall it was a lot of fun and thoroughly enjoyable."

  • "I invited a friend out for her birthday. I orderd the crab cakes which were quite delicious and she orderd the grilled vegetable sandwich. Unfortunately, the ingredients were not listed on the menu and my friend, who is highly allergic to eggplant, took a bite and reacted severly to the sandwich. She asked the waitress if there was eggplant, and yes, the culprit was there, hidden among other veggies. Fortunately, I had Benadryl with me and gave some to my friend and was able to get her stabilized, but we had to leave because she was not feeling well. Due to lack of consideration for people with food allergies, Founding Farmers ruined my lunch and my friend's birthday. The staff was considerate, but the damage was done."

  • "Love the variety available on the menu and most have been great without being overly salty or oily. The wait staff could be more friendly. We saw our waitress smile maybe once and saw her shaking her head as she walked away after we asked to have the dressing on the side for a salad. Other wait staff around the restaurant weren't friendly either, which makes you somewhat curious as to why that is (pretty big tippers in the area, extra for friendly wait staff). This really overshadowed the quality of the food and really could use some improvement."
