Diner Reviews
  • "When I asked a local hairdresser where I could hear live music and have dinner, she recommended Blue. I couldn't have asked for a better suggestion. Food was tasty and interesting and the Hot apple pie rum was delicious! The manager helped us get back to our hotel via the inside bridges. Highly recommend."

  • "We had a nice Easter Brunch. We were seated upon arriving at our reservation time in the upstairs area - a bit claustrophobic due to low ceilings and loud (but not as loud as the main area). Service was good. My burger was extremely undercooked and my daughter's meal came out wrong, but the waiter rectified the situation in a timely matter. My father ordered Fish N Chips, which comes with a beer. Halfway through the meal, he realized the beer never came. When he inquired about it, he was told the beer lines were down, so he couldn't get one. Would have been nice to know this in advance. Overall, a nice experience, but not what I was expecting, considering all the buzz about the place. We'll come back to try it again sometime. "

  • "Great date night! Despite the reservation disaster and a 15 minute wait before being seated for our reservation, the dining experience was great. Black pepper chicken wing appetizer was very, very good. Server was very attentive, replacing an undesired IPA and giving multiple wine tastes to ensure preferred beverages. FF burger and roasted chicken entrees were awesome. We left full, happy, and certain we would return again. Highly recommend!"

  • "Got a window seat up front cus wanted a bit quite. The waitress was the best ever, wish I had written down her name to forward to management, she was fantastic. The food was incredible as far as tase and presentation. Simple Asahi tuna salad was scumptions, spicy, sour and sweet mixed artistically. Great job all around. Thanks. Glenn"

  • "Our reservation was for 2:00, and we were seated promptly. The food was good. The service was great. Our waiter came right over to us. He came to our table several times to check on us. It was Easter and it was busy and a bit loud -- lots of families. "

  • "This was a bit disappointing. I had had lunch at FF downtown a couple years ago and was eager to try the nearby Potomac location. I love the idea of FF- fresh ingredients, an imaginative spin on farm and comfort food, etc. The menu is great, but the execution was only so-so. The green tomatoes I loved downtown were tasteless as were the cheddar crisps. I had the gnocchi- which were leaden. One daughter liked her fried chicken salad and the other demolished her huge burger. Service was friendly and quick, but they took all our utensils when clearing appetizers and it took a long time to get new ones after the entrees were served. Fortunately, the price is reasonable. I'll give it another try one day. Hope it was just an off night. "

  • "I've been to FF five times for brunch and it is always great. You know you enjoy a place when you struggle between the beignets and biscuits as an appetizer and then just order both!"

  • "The food was so fresh. You can tell they really do take farm fresh and organic seriously. We will be back. Kids loved it too (age 10-14 )."

  • "We had Vince serve our large group yesterday and he was amazing. We had a total of 17 people at an 8 seater, 6 seater and a booth. The food was awesome! We generally dine at the DC restaurant but the food and service in Potomac did not disappoint. The lack of decor, atmosphere and general ambience in the upstairs dining area was a true misstep. The dining area is devoid of anything to make you feel that you are in a nice restaurant. When I reached the top of the stairs I thought... this is a joke right, Oliver Twist had more going on in his dining room than this place did. I'm all for sustainable, earthy crunchy elements but atleast give me some. Perhaps some interesting lighting, wall hanging, plants or something. 5 star Food and service!"

  • "There were 3 of us for lunch. We had the fish & chips, a burger and the chicken and waffles. All 3 were hits very well done. A nice thing at farmers is they have popcorn for an appetizer. The new flavor is kettle corn and it was also really good. I would highly recommend "

  • "Loved everything about the restaurant - the decor, atmosphere, servers, and of course the food. Our table had a lot of trouble deciding what to get because everything sounded so good. Everyone was satisfied! "

  • "Enjoyed the caramel popcorn for an appetizer. It helped waiting for our meals. Only one in our group truly loved their entree. It was fried green tomatoes and one of the breads. Two entree salads were okay with the chicken very salty. We had to tell the server it was our first time there so he would explain the menu. There is no kid menu-- a real disappointment in a restaurant that has lots of fried chicken on its menu and could easily serve nuggets or fingers. "

  • "I truly enjoyed my time at Founding Farmers. The service was great, our food came quickly, and it certainly tasted delicious. I was seated very quickly as per my reservation and overall it was a great dining experience for my girlfriend and myself. Perhaps there is some policy that I don't know about. Overall though Founding Farmers is great!"

  • "I came to this restaurant the Saturday before Easter and I thought it would be super busy but it wasn't. There was a good amount of people there (a lot of families). I ordered the New Orleans Style French Toast and it was amazing!! Definitely something to order if you're not counting calories. "

  • "In my family we have two omnivores, 1pescatarian, 1 vegan, and 1 vegitarian. The menu choices are plentiful for each foodie. Love this place! Plus, we never feel rushed, no matter how busy the restaurant. Overall delightful experience."

  • "Look, THE Founding Farmers has set a (rumored) high bar and there are many restaurants in this class. I will try it again, sticking with their chicken this time, but I was disappointed with the seared tuna. Very good drinks."

  • "I had a reservation for 2 @9:00 PM last Friday made through the Open Table. Although the Restaurant told me nothing was available before 10:30 when I called. There is a disconnect with the on-line reservation system. We arrived at 8:55 and the waiters could not give us a table before 9:30. There was absolutely no apologies and the open table reservation was completely irrelevant. This is the 3rd time we experienced the same issue in the past 6 months. The open Table reservation is a bogus reference for this restaurant. And by the time we get the reservation other places are closed. Anyway, once we were seated, the waiter was extremely nice and offered an excellent service. (Matt is the name if I am not mistaken)"

  • "Always great food, service and experience. This time we took the kids, 4 boys who eat a lot. They loved everything and had plenty of it. The service is usually great, but this time it was outstanding! Kevin was very personable, attentive and accommodating, best waiter we've had there, by far."

  • "My second breakfast at Founding Farmers was delightful. The food was well done, the service was outstanding, and much to my surprise the restaurant was less busy than usual. Of course, we were there at 7:30 am. I've been to Founding Farmer's on many occasions, and have found the food to be consistently good. A major plus in these days, is that the menu offers vegans and vegetarians some excellent options. The noise level can make it harder for older diners at lunch or dinner when the restaurant is full. Breakfast is an excellent way to catch up with friends and enjoy good food and outstanding service."

  • "I took my nephew because he has been craving chicken and waffles and I was told from a friend who has been to your restaurant how great it was so I decided to try. My nephew (16) ate everything and has rated this has his new favourite restaurant. Everything I ate was delcious, I enjoyed my meal immensely, I plan on returing with family and friends because I know they will enjoy it. I ordered the beignet to go and I shared it with family and I'm going back this weekend to order more, it was so good. Overall I enjoyed my visit to Founding Farmers and I will return. Thanks for the great food and great service."

  • "waitress not too sharp, chicken pot pie and burger cold, service slow, espresso cold when it came. Have eaten here and down town before and much better, maybe it was an off night?"

  • "Finally after almost two years I got my reservation and though we waited that long it was very worth it. We found a great combination of food, wines and desert (always avoided in other places). We just hope to return quicker next time."

  • "Honestly I hoped for much better but I was underwhelmed. Love love love the freshness of the ingredients and the modern urban farmhouse feel. The servers were decent. The menu was limited in basic nutritional balance while accounting for every vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, pork free customer that could walk through the door. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious and there were no major incidents but I felt that the offerings and flavors were nothing to write home about and certainly nothing to spend well over $100 on. The funky glassware and mailboxes to deliver the checks felt hokey and forced. For my dollar, I can get fresh, local, and not corporate fare elsewhere. Nice try, the masses will probably love it. Good luck."

  • "I frequently patron Founding Farmers. They are consistent Everytime. I have always been greeted with pleasant and welcoming faces from the hostess stand to every staff member that I encounter. The food is always amazing and fresh and the drinks are the best in the area. My favorite is the clementine. The Brunch menu is outstanding!! I love this place!!"

  • "Love this place for Sunday brunch treat! The beignets are the best around, and the banana foster stuffed french toast is amazing! Throw in a mimosa and patio seating and it will become a Sunday Brunch favorite."

  • "2 kids (9 and 12) and four adults: a vegan, a sometimes vegetarian with cancer who is very careful about choosing foods, and 2 omnivores. We ate Senate soup, scallops, pulled pork, hot dogs, fried chicken, and pasta, fried green tomatoes and deviled egg combo platter. Each dish was carefully prepared, arrived at the proper temperature and was tasty. Our table of 6 was served on time. Server was friendly and service was good and not intrusive, which is a welcome change from most restaurants where the servers want to be overly friendly, in my opinion. Desserts were good, but enormous. Considering the ample portions of food, I suggest the food managers consider the size of the cake portions; they can easily be 25% of what was served."

  • "I want to thank the great host staff and my server. Everyone was friendly and the food was delicious! I love the Red Velvet pancakes! Thanks!"

  • "I love going to Founding Farmer's for dinner. The food is good and fresh and really not expensive compared to other nice dining options. I had the fried chicken for the first time and it was tasty and moist, but could have used more spice/kick. The sautéed kale that was a veggie selection that evening could have been cooked more (kale a bit tough), it was tasty and creative with cabbage and pears. It's always crowded and a bit noisy at Founding Farmer's, but that is part of their vibe."

  • "Normally I would give this place five stars across the board. This was our sixth time dining and the first time we had any snafus, though granted they were small ones. It took over fifteen minutes for anyone to offer us water or greet us at our table. A young man who wasn't our server put a drink order in for us. And then it took another ten minutes to meet our actual server who had likely just started her shift. In short, that wasn't a great start but the rest of the evening was fine in that department. The food was very good. They crazy corn salad and mushroom reuben were delicious. The organic cucumber delight is an amazing cocktail. The carrot cake was fine but forgettable. A good night but the restaurant wasn't at its best."

  • "Went there for my birthday lunch/dinner/linner(?). I got a burger and my mom got their four cheese ravioli and both were great. Our initial server at a ratty attitude but then she said that she was leaving and we got a new server and she was super cute and nice. The only downside was that I had to pay $10 for just soda... I got their grapefruit soda and finished it before my food came. I was willing to pay the $5 that it cost because it was some good soda. Our new server came around and asked me if i wanted another one but little did I know that there weren't any refills. So, I ended up paying $10 for two glasses of soda... and now I know. We will definitely be back for the food but I'm probably going to stick with water."

  • "Service seems to be the sore point at this location. Had the fish and chips and asked for extra tartar sauce when it was served to me. My server never brought it. This will be my last visit for a while."
