Best time to go for a lunch without a crowd is 2:15-2:30. Absolutely no wait. A very minor residual lunchtime crowd, but no problem w/seating and no order delay. I had my fav, Salmon, but tried friend's Fish and Chips and will DEFINITELY get that on the next visit. I absolutely love this spot...just happens to be across the street from my job, too!

the food is great this is my third time going to this restaurant. How ever, this time I noticed that the glasses of water and even the knives and forks smelled like eggs we even asked for new sets but we could smell the egg. Other than that the food is amazing and this place is a great place for brunch.

We found this restaurant listed on multiple "Best of" lists and decided to try it out! I wanted to go someplace special for a birthday, and this was the PERFECT choice. I have never had a birthday brunch, and I have missed out on life! The beignets...oh the beignets! Do not miss out on these delicious balls of dough. Everything here is absolutely fresh and wonderful. Both their alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage menus are to die for! Do not miss the chance to eat at this wonderful place! Just make sure you make a reservation unless you're willing to wait.

We had brunch. Several people recommended this place to me. I had an egg vegetable scramble and hash browns. There was way too much salt. Did not even eat my food. Server never even asked why. Beignets very good. I travel a lot and eat in a lot of very good dining establishments across the country. I was very disappointed after hearing so many great things.

I was visiting DC for my birthday and went to FF at a friend's suggestion. We arrived for a 9pm Saturday night reservation for two. The place was packed and several parties were waiting for tables. We were told it would be "a few minutes".After 15, my friend went to check with the hostess. We were sat shortly there after at around 9:20. Luckily we were seated next to a wall partition that acted as a sound barrier. FF is a great big open space and when full of people ( as it was that night) the noise level is significant. They have a large and varied menu; all of which our friendly server Tiffany informed us was made from scratch. The farm breads were especially good. The manager came over to apologize for our wait and offered us dessert.

This was my second time at Founding Farmers and unfortunately it did not live up to the first. I was impressed by both the food and the service during my first visit - even on a busy Sunday morning the waitress was attentive and pleasant. Therefore I was excited to share this spot with family from out of town but was disappointed. Despite being informed of a lactose allergy, the dish came out covered in cheese and took a while to bring a replacement dish. We were informed that it was impossible to bring bread that hadn't already been buttered so were offered an extra side which never came. We also had to ask multiple times for condiments so by the time we began eating the food was cold. The food was good but not worth the bad service.

We had breakfast there 3 times during our trip to DC and it was always very good and the staff did a very good job. When we ate dinner there, the noise level was almost deafening at times and you had to lean close to another person to carry on a conversation. The food for dinner was not as impressive as the breakfasts, but it was good just the same. If you want to eat there, you must get a reservation, as it was crowded every time we went.

My expectations were high because I had tried to get reservations several times but not enough in advance until this time. First we sat at the bar and drank really good red wine, which may have been the house wine, I'm not sure. We had come twenty minutes early and we're seated almost exactly at our reservation time, which was a pleasant surprise. The house salad (the one with mesclun--I wouldn't order an iceberg lettuce salad) was very good and so we're our three entrees, which were lobster mac and cheese, shrimp and sun dried tomato pasta, and a vegetarian mushroom dish. But they were on the bland side. I would recommend some seasoning for all three. The apple pie for dessert was great.

Food was great, but it was so loud in the restaurant. The main reason I noticed the noise level because from our party of four, no one was able to hear our waiter. Not a place to go on an evening to catch up with friends even though the food was delicious.

I brought a friend who was visiting DC for the first time to FF, thinking that this is one of those restaurants that can deliver a great bang for the buck. We were not disappointed. I would highly recommend the pepper soy chicken wings, fried green tomatoes, and rye-based cocktails. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes at FF! Truly a gem of DC dining, and this, from a picky and spoiled New Yorker!

First time here and it did not disappoint. Met old friends on a Thursday night at 6:15 and the place was very crowded at the front door, hostess stand, and bar with couples, families with strollers and lots of people! Noticing a staircase up to the seating area, I asked if there was an elevator (walk with cane) & a quiet table. The hostess said she'd take care of us and she did! They escorted us to an elevator and to a table for four. The waitress promptly brought water, wine and appetizers (fried green tomatoes were excellent). Roasted veg sandwich, grilled cheese and tomato soup, pork prime rib chop and shrimp bucatini were all excellent too and perfectly farm fresh! Shared 1 pumpkin cheesecake - delicious and HUGE! We'll be back!

Always a treat. They have revised their dessert crumble into a smaller pan which assists in the cooking time. There were a bit too many onions in the rissotto and although we had areservation they did make us wait a bit longer than usual while they continued to seat others. Not sure why other than they were busy.

Massive jars of carrots, tomatoes & corn make a farm-to-table impression at the entrance, where guests can hang their wraps on tree-shaped coat stands.I kind of knew there's a lot of hype about this restaurant,so we went to check it out.I came here with a friend for lunch. We had reservation for 2; we waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. I really like the decor & ambience in there; it was cheerful. The food din't take a long time to come. With that said, the food was really delicious! We had soup, devilsh eggs, veggie mushroom risotto & a smoked tofu burger. The only thing that could be improved was that it seemed like it was a bit difficult to flag down our server. All in all, though, I enjoyed our experience and would come here again!

Reservations suggested. On Tuesday nite we were able to secure a reservation but while waiting for our table (downstairs) we heard it was a 2.5hr wait. Portions are large.I had a double pork chop, great brussel sprouts with bacon, tasty stringbeans and apple pie. The pie looked much better than it tasted, little above average. There is a parking garage across the street but you may be able to find parking on the street a couple of blocks away. The food portions are large but very tasty The only down side is that it is very loud so it can be difficult to have a private conversation. I had to speak very loud so my dinner partner could hear me and was hoarse afterwards. Wait staff was nice..pretty average. The staff was great&flexible!!!

We arrived on a Sunday around 3 p.m. Place had a line outside the door. Only for our Open Table res. were we ushered right in, upstairs to a requested booth, quickly greeted by our waitress, served iced teas but not our cocktails. Appetizers and salads were immediately served, but still no wine nor cocktails. We waited to order the entrees until we had received our cocktails...the waitress then asked us if she should go downstairs and get them. Really? Yes! Specials were not mentioned; we needed to ask. When we were served our entrees they were not warm. One guest had cold chicken & waffles; I had a bland pork chop. Over-rated; very noisy; certainly not a place to relax and enjoy the marginal cuisine.
