It was too loud to have an easy conversation, and I would not recommend the tuna poke salad. It was pretty disappointing - tuna was very bland. The deviled eggs (appetizer) also left something to be desired, but love that they're on the menu! The fried green tomatoes are a MUST, and you can't go wrong with the steak entrees - beef is true North Dakotan fare, and they do it very well!

Farmers provided the right menu for divergent tastes among four diners--orders ran from grilled cheese sandwich to entree course for vegetarian. Thankfully we were seated on the second floor where the decibel level, albeit high, didn't overcome conversation.

Had an early business lunch and came to Founding Farmers. Arnold Palmer was the drinks to start (awesome fresh lemon aid and tea). Lunch was the shrimp salad, my first time having it. Awesome. Burgers for the other guests and the plates were cleaned. You gotta to go!

This is our third time at Founding Farmers and we are never disappointed. The food is fantastic as we love freshly made food with excellent ingredients. This time especially our server was particularly good and we met friends visiting from Australia there, on our recommendation, it's so worth the drive into DC just to come here!

I've enjoyed this restaurant multiple times on my trips to the District, and this time was no exception. We were seated quickly, and our waiter also was willing to give our group separate checks which was much appreciated. He did forget to bring beverages but he was very apologetic and the beverages were quite good.

The selection at this restaurant is amazing and every time I have eaten here, including tonight, I have found the quality of the food outstanding. The table service is great also. My only complaint is the long wait time to be seated, even when you have a reservation. There just always seems to be a bottleneck in the foyer area and it's uncomfortable. That said, I would gladly return because overall, I think it's a great restaurant.

I came there after work with a friend and was sitted on a tiny table. People passing by constantly pumped into me which made impossible to relax. The food was nothing special and quite overpriced for the low quality and simplicity of the dishes. Finally, the waitress charged my credit card twice so that I had to open a credit card charge dispute case with my bank. Stay away from this overrated place!

I've been to this restaurant for dinner several times and loved everything about it. But my last visit was for lunch and it was disappointing. I wanted to eat something healthy and ordered chicken salad and it came drenched in gooey creamy sweet dressing, chicken heavy with mayonnaise mayonnaise and barely any lettuce or anything green. Place was noisy and the people at the next table were seated so close on both sides it was uncomfortable. Waiter looked annoyed that I asked for a different healthier dish. I will come back again for dinner ( their fried chicken great) but not for lunch, not for salad and definitely not for lunch business meeting.

This place had delicious food which met our high standards. The menu had losts of standard meat and potato type dishes but with flare. As a vegetarian, I had several entrees from which to choose, but the menu is still meat-heavy and you must ask to make sure which items are cooked in meat fat or broth (the fried green tomatoes, for example). The drink menu was the most interesting component: they hand-make all their bar mixers and sodas. And the selection of cocktails was based on pre-prohibition liquors, according to our server. This place was crowded, so a reservation is necessary. Noise level is loud, but if you like a bustling scene which is apparently a local hot spot, its worth it. Lots of young professionals.

Really enjoyed lunch with a friend this week. Food was absolutely delicious. Mushroom swiss reuben from meatless menu was exploding with mushrooms on perfectly toasted bread and melted Swiss. Exactly right portion size. Colin was attentive without being intrusive. My friend and I were catching up after not seeing each other for years and the FF team was tolerant of our extended conversation. Noise level is disruptive and tables on top of one another. Recommend some soft surfaces to help absorb some of the noise and removing some tables. I know no restaurant likes to give up that income but it would improve the experience significantly.

I made my reservation for two, a couple of weeks in advance. When my reservation was confirmed, there was a message, "size of your party cannot be increased without contacting us by internet." That was a new one to me. Walking over to the restaurant, we ran into a friend who was on his way to Founding Farmers - without a reservation. We were told that it would increase our wait time if he joined us. Our friend ate at the bar. So much for that. We were seated upstairs. The friendly server told us about the restaurant and we made our choices. I had the butternut squash pasta - which I liked very much. My friend had roast chicken which she said was not special. Bottom line - make dinner choices carefully and have a reservation.

I was really excited about this restaurant and had heard great things; however, my experience was just ok. The service was fair and the atmosphere was nice, but the food was not as good as I expected (Brunch). Our waitress was nice, but when one of my party members mentioned that her toast was a little burnt, she just smirked and said oh that's the grill for you. I think it would have been a little nice had she offered her another piece of toast. She also didn't tell us about the up charge for cheese. I think the prices are very reasonable, but a patron should be told if there is an up charge for something. My eggs had the distinct taste of onions and I hate onions. It was not the experience I had hoped for, but I plan to try dinner. SM

Great Iced Tea, sweetened with agave. Waited a long time in between refills, but sooooo good. The beignets are so light and fluffy I'm gonna die. The tomato soup is also great, with a slice of amazing bread drenched in butter. The shrimp and grits were the only disappointing dish. Sauce was bland and filmy, ladled over the whole dish. The shrimp, though plentiful, were bland as well. Stick with the breakfast stuff.

While the restaurant was mobbed when we arrived for Sunday brunch, we were seated promptly at the time of our reservation. In addition, our request for a "quiet as possible" table was met as we were seated in a cozy alcove. The service was friendly and responsive and the food was quite tasty and nicely presented. I look forward to returning again for brunch and sampling offers at lunch and dinner.

Amazing breakfast- I've been several times now, and each time I've had a wonderful meal. Whether it's a more indulgent item (try the stuffed French toast or red velvet pancakes) or one of their healthier options (veggie scramble...so fresh and tasty!), they execute well. On top of that, it's incredibly afforadable, especially for DC brunch. Service was also top notch, and even though the place was packed, food came out quickly and server checked in regularly.

FF is great for Brunch! I love the atmosphere, energetic with oodles of people representing all stages of life, but quiet enough that you can still comfortably hear whoever you are dining with. Waitress was wonderfully friendly and pointed out items in the menu that I hadn't noticed on prior visits. Love the Crab Benedict and you just can't go wrong with a Pimms Cup. My only complaint is that I had made a reservation for 1000 and was not seated until 1015, which, when you arrive 5 minutes early, means I had to stand and wait for 20 minutes before being seated. On this occasion I was not in a rush and was happily enjoying catching up with an old friend, but I would not recommend FF if you have a tight time restraint on your meal.

We got lucky on Saturday morning with a last minute 7pm opening for 4 people, someone must have cancelled as this wasn't there 2 days earlier. Have previously also been lucky walking in around 7:30 pm on a weeknight with 4 people, waiting less than half an hour. We were seated in a booth at the bar which was fine as the noise level seems pretty consistent with other areas. Enjoyable lively atmosphere. Our server was very prompt, friendly, informed and never gone for long. Every dish was delicious - particularly the Prosciutto, Fig & Mascapone Ciabatta, Low Country Shrimp & Grits and the beignets.
