The hostess refuses to seat anyone until every person in your reservation arrives, and she has an attitude about it. I never understood restaurants with this policy as it means you'll be crowding in the entranceway instead of ordering drinks and appetizers at your table. Once we all were there, we still had to wait another 20 minutes for our table. Food was fine, but took forever and service was spotty (e.g., you have to ask for more water instead of the waitstaff anticipating it). District Commons is a much better choice in the area.

I've dined at the restaurant numerous times and tonight's server was not up to par. He was friendly but his service was lacking. He totally forgot an appetizer that he recommended. He never checked back to see if everything was okay until we were mid-way through meal. Of course it was then too late to re-order the appetizer. He apologized for forgetting. I inquired where he had been and he said he was busy with a difficult table. Other than the lousy service everything else was as expected. I ordered the rice burger with tofu which was well prepared but a little bland. My friend got the crispy shrimp which she thoroughly enjoyed.

I have mixed reviews on this restaurant. I'll say that the other two in my party would return happily. Me, I'm not so sure. We had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time. It was absolutely freezing at our table and the music was VERY loud. I'm sure those two factors negatively color my impression of the evening. It was just not an enjoyable atmosphere. The manager offered us a complimentary appetizers because of our wait which was a welcome gesture. The restaurant has a huge menu. There is certainly something for everyone here. They seem to do a good job with the food. Everyone was pleased with their meals. We shared carrot cake for dessert which was very good. With all the great dining options in DC though, I'm not sure I'll return.

The wait w/o a reservation 2 hours.. It's a noisy, bustling place with very good food - fresh and a focus on local farmers and sustainable sources. They were out of 2 of the 3 things ordered but very apologetic. On Saturday at 7 pm seems like poor planning on the kitchen's part. Scallops and risotto were excellent - cooked perfectly w/ a delicious, light sauce. Rib's great and rib eye done correctly. Tried 2 desserts, Red Velvet and Triple Chocolate; we give the Red Velvet the nod. Skillet corn bread is not your typical heavy crumbly stuff - it's light and kind of airy with kernels of corn rather than tons of cornmeal. The butter & honey served with - perfect. This is the 3rd time eating there & haven't been disappointed.

There is a lot of hype about Founding Farmers. The meal was very good, but not "out of this world" good. Some of the things we had were outstanding, but some of them were just good. I was expecting everything to be outstanding. It is a still a very good restaurant and I would go there again. It just didn't live up to all the hype I was expecting. However, we live in the Farm-to-Fork capital so our expectations may have been too high. Fresh and seasonal ingredients are standard where we live and that is not the case in DC.

At last, a unique restaurant with almost EVERYTHING homemade, even the spirits. Nothing basic here; only very creative and delicious food and drink. The only problem is trying to decide what to order. I suggest going with a group and sharing. By the way, the staff was outstanding.

When we were first seated, we were sat at a two-top directly next to a server station. We asked for a different table because within a couple minutes, servers and their butts were within inches of us whenever they were at the station. This table would be fine if there was a partition dividing the table from the station. From the time we were at our new table until the time we left, our experience was outstanding. The server knew the menu, notified us of things that they had sold out of before we were ready to order, and timed everything well. The food and cocktails were beyond spectacular.

Made a reservation for 6PM dinner for my group of five including toddlers. Server brought drinks out right away including straw cups for our children. Started our evening with a bucket of kettle popped popcorn, oven roasted cracked black pepper wings, and the seafood devl-ish eggs combo. I'm not big on popcorn, but this stuff was a lightly salted bucket of heaven. Wings were tangy and tender, not overly sauced. Deviled eggs were alright. I'm a big seafoodie and this didn't impress me. For dinner we ordered chicken & waffles and chicken pot pie. Pot pie wasn't available so chose fish & chips which were overcooked and bland. Chicken could've been seasoned more, but waffles and side dishes were great. Will come back to try brunch.

Not my kind of place. This was my second visit. Same experience. I had a reservation, but was seated 20 minutes later. A mob scene in the lobby full of people waiting. Felt as if I were in the Olive Garden. Hard to talk. Waiter asked us every 5 minutes if we needed anything. Very close to the next table with small children. Not sure why people like this restaurant. The food is good, comfort food, but not my scene.

Had a recommendation, but it far exceeded our expectations. Four people ordered four different meals and we all thought it was the best food we have eaten in a long time. The two ordered cocktails and the response was the same--the best! We are all young senior citizens and travel and eat at a lot of places, and rarely write a review, but this was so worthy of an outstanding grade!

My sister insists we come here for brunch every time she visits from out of town. So far we've had the garden eggs, Florentine Benedict, and the stuffed french toast with the yoga tea, mocha, and Italian soda. Everything is just delicious. The tables are kind of close together so hear other conversations (and they may hear yours as well!) but they have to accommodate all the people who come to eat! I just wish they could make a little more sense of their entrance; its hard to tell if there's a line and if there is, should you cut if you have a reservation? (What if they give your table away while you're waiting in line to talk to the hosts?)
