  • "With its beautiful setting and superb service, this restaurant could be a real winner. Unfortunately, a main course of bison ribeye was partially inedible: raw instead of medium rare, gristly and covered with a tasteless glob of crabmeat. Since everything else was very good, this failure seemed especially shocking and seriously marred the experience."

  • "The views from the outdoor terrace were spectacular and the food and service were great!"

  • "You may think that the Keswick dining staff feels they need not perform to a captive audience. We found just the opposite. The food was great, including 3 different entrees, appetizers, and even dessert. Crab cakes were very tasty, lightly fried artichokes were perfectly prepared, and the cherry cobbler with fennel ice cream was amazing. Great work Kesswick."

  • "nice location, excellent service but menu is very limited and food was disappointing....very average or below, a shame given the potential of the location. Many other much better restaurants in the Charlottesville area to consider."

  • "Went for a Sunday dinner. The food was plain, undercooked, and overpriced. The service was friendly and casual as were many of the diners. This is definitely not a shirt and tie establishment. Flies were a problem, landing on the food and back-stroking in the wine. I see no reason to return when there are better restaurants in Charlottesville."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed a lovely dinner: mushroom nage and foie gras starters followed by bison ribeye and angus filet entrees. Both came with vegetables but we also shared a cauliflower gratin side. The food was delicious, the service attentive, and the view of the golf course/rolling hills of Piedmont Virginia spectacular. We skipped dessert in favor of brandy and port on the terrace bar at sunset. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion."

  • "Service was extremely slow. We were the second group in the dining room? What could have been so slow? Our waiter was great, and very apologetic. He comped our drinks which was nice. Medium rare cooked angus beef was more like rare. Fantastic view overlooking the golf course."

  • "Our group of 7 went to the bar for a cocktail, 45 minutes ahead of our 6:45pm reservation. It took 30 minutes to be served, the waiter argued that the champagne two of us ordered was not flat.It was in fact flat, time was fleeting, we drank it anyway. At dinner, our waiter only took a partial drink order, serving 3 of us a bottle of champagne, never asking the others for their order. This caused a delay and upset.Service was extremely slow, most likely due to a wedding nearby. We waited 45 minutes for our first course, another hour for our entree, way too long for the elderly folks in our group. Crabcakes small, good flavor, Pork Loin tough.Appetizers bland.A special occassion marred by slow service, a wedding, and incompetence. Disappointing."

  • "We celebrated here many special occasions since service and ambience are amazing. Two big problems that sometimes come are level of noise and inconsistent food quality. Last time we ate dinner they brought wonder bread with butter for starters. I think that place that aspires to be fine dining restaurant must do better. My salmon was to greasy and fishy so it was hard to eat without good side dish or bread. Overall high quality service with only average food. "

  • "On our first visit to Fossett's, we were most impressed! The restaurant is beautiful, and at 6:00, their earliest seating, it was quiet and serene, perfect for our 96-year-old mother. Our waiter recommended a New Zealand white wine that proved to be excellent. The homemade bread was to die for. We highly recommend the mixed greens salad, with its delicate dressing fragrant with herbs. We each had different entrees - chicken, beef filet, salmon, and flounder - and were thrilled with our choices. Portions were modest but not skimpy, leaving us satisfied but not overfilled and with plenty of room for dessert. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "This was our third visit to Fossett's in the beautiful Keswick Hall Inn. The food and service never disappoint. A wonderful selection of wines. The bar at the hotel was really hopping the night we were there, able to sit outside before dinner on veranda and soak up the view."

  • "Our reservation during UVA's graduation weekend was for a Saturday lunch at Fosset's. However, when we arrived at Keswick Hall, the lobby hostess was "standoffish" and acted as if we were in the wrong place. We were directed to Villa Crawford and was seated in a corner near the door. Instead of a panoramic view, my family had a constant view of pool attire clad guests. The food was mediocre at best. We asked for a basket of bread with our meal and never received it. It was not the memorable experience that I attended to give my graduating son. "

  • "Visiting from out of town. Service was outstanding from the time we arrived with the hostess to the wait staff. Food was great! Everyone was friendly, neat and very courteous. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and I mentioned that when I booked the reservation. Our anniversary was acknowledged by all of the wait staff and hostess and they went out of their way to make sure that our day was special. The only thing that needed attention was the table that we sat at on the terrace was not cleaned well. We are definetly planning a return for brunch. "

  • "We had dinner at Fossett's on a Thursday evening. We Arrived early enough to enjoy the view of the countryside from a window table for two. The service provided by Bradley was outstanding. Food was also outstanding with many of the dishes being accented with the restaurants pickled vegetables. Our request to have an order of oysters .broiled rather tan raw was met with a willingness by the chief to provide an over the top modified Oysters Rockefeller.substitute. Definitely would go back when in the area."

  • "If you go to Fossett's you must try the sticky bacon which we understand is only prepared for Sunday brunch. It truly is an outrageous taste treat! We also enjoy the bloody marys....delicious. The service is friendly and the pace is relaxing...no rushing here."

  • "Service with TJ was exceptional. He described dishes and answered our questions about keswick history. Brunch was the best we have had crab Benedict was superb as was the sweet sticky bacon-- a real first for both. Ambience was inviting and romantic. A wonderful experience, memory making!"

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful evening at Fossett's. The service could not have been better. You feel very welcome and are made to feel comfortable. The restaurant is beautiful and the view can't be beat. The food is very, very good, but I would not say that it is stellar. However, the presentation is stunning. I wish the bread served with the meal was better. All that said, I would definitely return and recommend it highly."

  • "Our evening at Fossett's was once a delight. Every person at the table was impressed by the quality of the food and the service. And it was so pleasant to be in an environment where we could talk and hear one another without shouting! Especially delicious were the rockfish and the butternut squash "linguini." The fish was cooked to perfection-thoroughly done but moist and the spices on the squash brought out the flavor of everything in the dish. Timing of the courses and attention to details of filling glasses, etc. was perfect."

  • "Splendid new seasonal menu options offered on Friday night. Food here is always excellent and very creative. Service is always top-notch. Making decisions for our courses was the only difficulty. Every time we dine here, we say we should go more often!"

  • "I took a young friend to Fossett's for her birthday. She works in high end food service and was particularly impressed with the setting and the level of service here. The food was good, not quite sublime. The experience is even more beautiful in the daytime; although the front lawn is still lit with white lights and is quite magical."

  • "The food was great but the service could not have been worse. For starter all 3 courses were incorrectly placed at our table of two. It was actually some what funny but not what you expect from a a fine dining restaurant. The worst part of the night was when the server dropped off the bill before dessert?!! Yes this happened and misplacing all 3 courses at 1 dinner. We didn't know what to do and another server actually saw the look of astonishment on our faces and asked what was wrong. He was very nice and quickly grabbed the bill and apologized. Of course our server came running back and apologized but it just became awkward because of all the mistakes. I would probably not come back to Fossetts and certainly would not recommend Fossetts."

  • "Fossett's was impressive with its service and location. It was not as expensive as anticipated. But we were a little disappointing with how the food tasted. We expected something extraordinary from the food after reading reviews on Yelp, but ended up not as impressed. Our bill was $135 + tips at the end. The wine list was extensive and the manager was happy to offer his opinion about the wines. We would come back here and recommend this place to a friend. P.S. Pistachio ice cream is no longer offered for desert."

  • "The ambiance and service were superb and and the restaurant wonderfully quiet. The apple cobbler dessert was delicious. The rest of the food was good but not outstanding and the menu selection was rather limited. I would love to havean entree such as duck l'orange or snapper ponchartrain in such a wonderful setting."

  • "Overall, we had a wonderful meal on New Year's Eve. Despite the room being nearly full, it was still relatively quiet and we were able to hear one another without having to raise our voices. The food was all excellent - the servings were not excessively large. The service as outstanding - very attentive but not overly so, and everybody was extremely warm and friendly. All in all an excellent meal. Our only complaint, and a relatively minor one at that, is that we would have enjoyed a bit more time between the courses. Often we only had a minute or two between the time a plate was cleared and the next appeared - particularly between our entree and getting desert. The desert arrived before we had a chance to order coffee"

  • "We have only been once, so not a lot to trend on. The dining room was really noisy for something marketed as quiet and intimate. Overall the food was good. The menu was not suited for the season and was limited. Second course oysters were good, quail was not cooked properly.Steak was incorrect temp and was sent back. Sides with steak were not creative (AU gratin potatoes and creamed spinach - no sauce). We skipped dessert. Service and altogether front of the house was awful. Too long between courses and not offered bread.Wait staff was not resourced correctly and were generally unhelpful.Food was overpriced for quality (4 oz. steak with potatoes was $40). I think the restaurant has potential but not recognizing potential."

  • "I dine here but only on special occasion as it is expensive and marketed as such a restaurant....which I like. Livking in a very academic granola town it is nice to have a place to dress....I am originally from NYC/DC. There seems to be something missing. There is a new owner of the resort it is located in and the focus seems to be on renovating the golf course and not the restaurant. We waited too long to be greeted by our server, who was very nice, because there was not as many working that evening that should be. Once the ball got rolling all was well. However, I ordered the sweet potatoe bisque and it was lukewarm....good but poor temperature. My entree, the Pork Chop was delicious, but why be buried in beet like sauerkraut? Will return"
