  • "The food was presented beautifully, tasted delicious, and was just the right amount. The crispy brussel sprouts appetizer with sauce was a big hit. Our menu selections were Pasta Primavera, Rosemary and Lemon Baked Salmon, and Shrimp Scampi. There were no leftovers. Desserts were a nice top-off to a lovely meal. We look forward to returning."

  • "I chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner based on numerous good reviews on Yelp. Sadly, the evening was a big disappointment The waiter we had didn't seem interested and ignored us most of the evening. And the food was so-so. I had the pork - it was okay but a little overdone. My husband had the salmon - again, it was okay but not remarkable. We finished the meal with creme brûlée - gummy and one of the worst I've had. I'm not in the habit of writing bad reviews, but I just can't recommend this place."

  • "Have always liked this place and returned with family last Thursday. Not a huge menu, but the food is very, very good; perhaps because they know what they do well and don't try to do too much. First, complimentary meat balls for the table; nice beginning, tasty and just a touch spicy. Two of us split the Italian Wedge salad; the other two split the House salad. Very good and seemed generous portions for a split. We each had our own entree: Lasagna (specialty of house I think); Short Ribs; and the two fish specials of the night, one salmon, the other halibut. All were very good...the Lasagna winning overall once again. Had two bottles of the house red wine...and it was fine. The service was excellent as usual; Augustine is awesome."

  • "Tried the Prix Fixe dinner. Ceasar salad ok. Salmon in phyllo tasted bland and "steamy", bolognese sauce heavy on the bay leaf flavor, and the main seasoning in everything we tried was pepper. Rigatoni's take-out bolognese has a richer flavor than this one. Desserts were good."

My steak salad was very good, my husband's chicken marsala was nice with a super tasty creamy polenta, the chicken alfredo was rich without being overpowering, and the chicken parmesan was enjoyed by my oldest son. The bruschetta was perfectly fine and should be devine in a couple of weeks when the summer tomatoes come into their full flavor. The food was all very good but what stood out was the service. Our server was attentive without hovering, the owner's mother came by and asked us what we were celebrating and the owner's son (who was serving other tables) later came by as well to make sure all was well. This family owned business deserves a try!"

Forno Vecchio not only serves high quality, fresh, homemade food, but they also have the advantage of an owner and staff who are warm, welcoming, and seriously interested in making your dining experience the best! Our family of five has tried a variety of items on the menu, from seafood to chicken to pasta, and honestly they have all been excellent. There is a nice selection of wines, but even their water is great! Prepared with lemon and orange slices it "pairs nicely" with everything!😉 Forno Vecchio is a local, family owned restaurant. When the owner tells you she has to go home to "get the homegrown tomatoes and fresh laid eggs", that is the real deal!"

  • "We have lived in the Pleasanton area for about a year and did not see this hidden gem right on Main Street. Our son has gone many times and kept encouraging us to try it. (He loves the garlic bread).The sign is a bit difficult to see as it blends in with the others next to it, so we would drive past it not knowing it was there. We are so happy that we finally made it. The food was fantastic, the ambiance wonderful and we had great service. When the owner, Jana came over and welcomed us to the restaurant that just made it even more special. We will definitely be back!"

The house wine was very good, the antipasto was cleverly done, and each pasta entree we ordered was better than we expected. The menu appeared to offer run-of-the-mill "American-Italian" dishes, but we were each happy to get dishes that had unique twists and excellent flavor. The rack of lamb was too good for an Italian place; the chef is definately someone who likes lamb and it showed. The desserts were rich and not the predictable "cheescake and mousse." We'd go back without hesistation."

  • "The meal was great and the service was outstanding. I took my wife here for Valentines Day and she ordered Option 1 off the menu and I ordered Option 2. the only difference was I received an amuse bouche which was a goat cheese crostini. She had an option of 3 entrees and choose the flank stank over polenta with asparagus and she loved it. My entrée was a gnocchi with lobster in a cream sauce and my only complaint was I could have eaten twice as much of it as it was so tasty. As it was, I ordered more bread so I could be sure to sop up all the remaining sauce. For dessert, my wife choose the strawberry trio and loved it. I ordered the pear and ice cream dessert which could use some work. We will definitely go back."

  • "This was our first time eating at the restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. The menu had a nice variety of items that are reasonably priced. The server was helpful in making selections. There is a good Fixed price selection at $26 to go with the a la carte. Two of us had the salmon covered in phyllo, one the halibut and the other the short ribs. All of us enjoyed the meal very much. We will definitely return. A nice find in Pleasanton."
