  • "The food is delicious. A nice variety of choices on the menu. We've been twice, everything we've had has been very good. The staff is very friendly and good at making you feel catered to. My only complaint is that it can get pretty noisy in there. We were seated next to a large party, so that make it a little less romantic, but we will be back for more!"

  • "Outstanding service, seems like it's family-owned and they try very hard to please. Lasagne was delicious. Salmon wrapped in phyllo on a bed of spinach was unique, tasty, and big enough to not finish--so brought the remainder home. Wish they offered more Livermore wines."

  • "I ordered the lasagne, but it was cooked so the noodles were a little too crispy on the edges for me. I then ordered the shrimp scampi and I liked it much better. I loved their focaccia bread and seasoned olive oil mix. I probably could have made a meal off of this!"

  • "Usually we have had good food - but this time around the bread before the meal was old and stale the Lasagne - of which we love - was cold to the touch in the middle and tasteless (needing garlic or something) it was a slow night - so timing was not an issue - maybe being slow caused the issue with complacency we chose not to complain onsight - but its been stewing in us since so I write this response upon the request of Open Table"

  • "The meal was great and the service was outstanding. I took my wife here for Valentines Day and she ordered Option 1 off the menu and I ordered Option 2. the only difference was I received an amuse bouche which was a goat cheese crostini. She had an option of 3 entrees and choose the flank stank over polenta with asparagus and she loved it. My entrée was a gnocchi with lobster in a cream sauce and my only complaint was I could have eaten twice as much of it as it was so tasty. As it was, I ordered more bread so I could be sure to sop up all the remaining sauce. For dessert, my wife choose the strawberry trio and loved it. I ordered the pear and ice cream dessert which could use some work. We will definitely go back."

That alone says a lot with the amount of Italian places to go to in Pleasamton. We took some people from out of town and they loved it."

  • "This was our first time eating at the restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. The menu had a nice variety of items that are reasonably priced. The server was helpful in making selections. There is a good Fixed price selection at $26 to go with the a la carte. Two of us had the salmon covered in phyllo, one the halibut and the other the short ribs. All of us enjoyed the meal very much. We will definitely return. A nice find in Pleasanton."

  • "We are return customers to Forno Vecchio and chose it for NewYear's Eve. The Prie Fix selection was outstanding. Each dish was delicious. The pear-gorgonzola pancetta soup amazing. My husband had the lamb and I enjoyed the lobster gnocchi. The lobster was very generous and the lemon-pistachio cream sauce tho die for. Am looking forward to trying some of the tempting Sat. brunch items."

  • "Very nicely executed family restaurant. Menu is a single page, which means they focus on doing a few things well. And everything we tried was definitely done well. The truffle fries were amazing, and the warm brussels sprouts were quite tasty. We also had the lasagna and halibut…both done very well. Not quite sure about some of the nasty reviews here. There are many Italian restaurants to choose from on Main Street in Pleasanton, but this one belongs in the upper 25%. Especially nice was the greeting by one of the owners when we arrived. She made a sincere request that, if were not delighted with everything, that we bring it to her attention. That is rare indeed. Highly recommend you try this one for yourself."

  • "I found this place purely by accident a couple of years back. A friend and I were looking for a nice, classy quiet little place to go celebrate our birthdays and catch up. Most of the other resturaunts in Pleasanton are great but rather crowded and quite noisey especially if you are wanting to have some good conversation. We stumbled upon this place quite by accident and it has become a fast favorite of myself as well as many others. We have all been there on many different occasions but the service is always outstanding, the food is fantastic.. They have a pretty good bar and a great wine list. For fine dining and a quiet classy setting this place is by far one of the best in downtown Pleasanton. Keep up the good work!!!"

  • "Favorite thing on the menu is by far their truffle fries. Also enjoyed the apple tart with gelato. Main courses are good but nothing out of the ordinary. Service was very slow this evening. After being seated no one even came to our table for about 10 minutes. Server was extremely nice, either just new or inexperienced. I would give the restaurant another try as I'm sure the server just needs practice."

  • "The food at Forno Vecchio is always great, authentically Italian with occasional local twists (e.g., saturday night's pumpkin tiramisu). We started with complimentary bruschetta, bread still toasty warm, continued with wedge salad (simple but tasty) then our foursome had: lasagna, rigatoni, spicy gnocchi, and grilled salmon. All were temperature hot, clearly fresh from the stove and oven (I hate when entrees are served warm or lukewarm). Comfort food with excellent subtleties. All dinners were generous portions. And, of course, the service is professional, yet fun, because Augustine took great care of us, as usual. He has been the main server at this restaurant for years, and is a gem."

  • "Should have know when we walked in at 7:30 on a Saturday night and there were only four tables full that we were in trouble. The service we received way very bad. The waiter rarely checked in on us, made very few suggestions and was just unavailable when throughout most of our 2.5 hr meal he and the other waiter took care of the now three tables that had people at them! Could not believe how long it took to get my burnt halibut that was completely smothered in this rich sauce and surrounded by raw gnocchi. For the length of time it took to make, we should have been served a 7 course gourmet meal. Will never go back there. Probably won't have to worry about that decision anyways because I cannot see them being in business much longer."

  • "Enjoyed the outdoor dining; however, we were disappointed in the food and service. Bread and main course was just okay. Need to let everyone know, that is all you get, bread and the main course. No salad and no vegetable unless you want to pay extra. The dessert was absolutely delicious. Would recommend this restaurant only for the desserts. As for service, we dined on a Saturday night relatively early (6:30) when it was not busy. Saw the waitress very little. Asked for more bread and never got it."

  • "The food here is consistently excellent. For an Italian restaurant, they have a small menu, but everything on it is well-prepared. The restaurant used to be overmatched on weekends and they have added more staff. However, the staff needs to learn not to call women "guys" and not to ask "if you're still working on that" in order to be considered a four-star restaurant. Also, they ran out of one of their wine selections early on a Saturday night; that really should not happen except late on a Sunday evening, if at all."
