Diner Reviews
  • "If you are looking for an Inner Harbor restaurant that sources its ingredients from indentified local sources, this place fits the bill."

  • "I first heard of Forno through the City Paper's Facebook page. They featured their Monday night lobster and one happy hour drink special for $20 so I figured I'd give the place a shot. Upon first entrance I was immediately sold. Forno has a great ambiance...a great space with cozy decor...a farm to table like atmosphere. The happy hour pino noir was delicious served in a generously sized glass. The lobster was good (first time I'd had grilled lobster)...pickled vegetables tasty. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "Went on Monday for the $20 Lobster & a Pint deal. Lobster comes split, it is steamed and then finished on the grill. Pretty decent size. Also ordered the funghi pizza, the mussels, and the olive oil bread. The bread was a little heavy, but aside from that, everything else was very good. The 4 of us sat at the bar, it seemed like most people there were as well. Greg is a great bartender. I would definitely come back for the lobster."

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Forno for dinner and it was fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. Our waitress was very knowledgable about the menu when we had questions and made great recommendations on what to order. We had to try one of the pizzas and chose the Carne pizza which was recommended by both the waitress and online reviewers. It was so delicious! We were too full but finished it anyway because it was so good. We will absolutely visit Forno again to try the rest of their tasty pizzas."

  • "Great restaurant for people attending shows at Hippodrome and Everyman Theater. Food was delicious and very creative."

  • "Great trendy decor. Love having another option before theater. Liked having small plate options. Curried vegetables were more of a bouillabaisse but good. Duck pickles were interesting but lost their taste on top of the toast points. I love that they have some creative choices and hope they add more. If you want an example of creative menus and restaurants...look to Durham, NC or Tapas Teatro here in Baltimore near the Charles Theater."

  • "We like the ambiance and the food is very good. Would like to see changes in the small plate options over time. Pizza is delicious!"

  • "We were surprised by this diamond in the rough. We went "pre-theater" but will go back just to enjoy"

  • "Great place to go prior to the theater whether the Hippodrome or the Everyman theater."

  • "We have started going to Forno before Everyman Theatre performances, and I noticed that some people dining there were going to the Hippodrome. The food was interesting and timely. We have gone back."

  • "We didn't know what to expect from Forno, but gave it a try as a pre-theater option to Alewife. We will definitely go back. The service was good and the decor was fun and relaxing. The food was ok -- not spectacular. The cheese plate appetizer was small for the price and the mixed green salad could use a little more dressing. But the pizza was tasty. It's a good spot for a casual dinner."

  • "My family came to this restaurant before see Tribes at Everyman theatre. The environment was rustic which was refreshing. The waitress was great at explaining their menu and prompt. We ordered the olives, oysters, and mussels as appetizers. They were all incredibly delicious and filled with flavor. We also ordered the carne and artichoke pizza- both of which were amazing. The thin homemade crust and fresh tomato sauce was perfect. They also did a great job check on timing of food with the time of our show."

  • "Forno is around the corner from Everyman and across the street from the Hippodrome theaters. We had a very nice light meal outdoors before a show."

  • "Forno has excellent, fresh food, a great wine list, and is right across the street from the Hippodrome. Downside, it's a little pricey. "

  • "This is a very nice addition to an emerging neighborhood. It was rather quiet when we were there, but that was early on a Sunday evening, so perhaps it's more lively at other times. It's an excellent choice if you're seeing a show at the nearby Everyman Theater or the Hippodrome, and there aren't a lot of upscale options nearby. The food was very tasty, the space was attractive, and service was good. My sazerac cocktail and chocolate dessert were the standouts, but everything my friends and I tried was high-quality."

  • "We ate here before theater and were happily surprised. The wait person was fun without being intrusive. She knew the menu and helped guide us to the best choices. I had the pork dish and loved it. Lots of food. My friends went for the pizzas and said the tomato sauce was tasty. The last friend had the arctic char (like salmon) and he enjoyed it. Would return definitely."

  • "We went there before a performance at the Hippodrome. We were running late due to an accident and the hostess was SOOO kind to keep our table (we called, of course). The restaurant is adorable! The food was great. Our waiter took care of us and had us out of there in time for the 8 pm performance. We just walked across the street. Would go back again for pre-performance dinner and just for the a fabulous dinner! "

  • "Unlike a typical noisy sports-bar with blaring flat screens everywhere you look, this restaurant presents a great dining experience and excellent milieu for eating and enjoying unhurried time with your friends."

  • "Sat in bar area to be eligible for happy hour prices. Had salads, pizzas, and wine before theatre. Very satisfying. Perfect for a light dinner."

  • "Out 2nd visit. Great location and convenient for Hippodrome attendees. Easy reservations; upbeat greeting upon arrival; prompt service; terrific menu; wonderful meal! We're official Forno fans!"

  • "What I had was wonderful (pork loin) but the menu was odd, it lacked some favorites. It listed many unusual choices that were not appealing to me. The diner that I picked was the only one on the menu that I could select."

  • "Had a chance to finally visit Forno and was quite impressed. We are regulars at Hippodrome and have had endured few options over the years. Forno is very inviting beginning with the staff from your initial greeting. The menu is FULL of options and many are interesting plays on great concepts, the rabbit is great, the cheese plate was local and well-balanced, the wine list was diverse and strong. We were especially impressed with our server, Adair, she was fantastic and a reason all alone to go back. Couple the vibe, good food, and outstanding service she provided and we have a real winner!"

  • "My wife and I tried Forno for the first time at lunch. We had a very pleasant experience. The food we ordered was very good and the waitress was very pleasant and attentive. The interior design was cleverly executed - very creative use of recycled wood and fixtures. We look forward to trying it for dinner before the theatre."

  • "Weather your going to the Hip or Everyman even a bell game, this is a great stop Park onceeven after the show nice bat scene"
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "The menu is quite limited and expensive. Nothing worth the high prices. Our first appetizer was bread which we had to order and pay for. The pizza was mediocre at best description. Looks great, convenient location for theater goers but not worth the high prices at all. So dissatisfied. "

  • "As an Everyman Theater subscriber, I had gotten tired of having to choose between the ok-food-but-ridiculously-loud Alewife, Panera, and Heidi's Deli (no one's idea of a nice pre-theater meal). I was ecstatic when Nando's Peri Peri Chicken opened, and now with Forno, the choices have dramatically improved. Great drinks, delicious super-thin crust pizzas and tasty homemade desserts. Fresh, locally sourced meats and produce make this a great choice. A tad pricey, but since I am only going to dine there before a show 3 or 4 times a year, it really doesn't matter."

  • "This area really needed a good food and wine restaurant. The farm to table along with the old barn wood décor and tables really makes for a great combination. They have a good wine list which you can't find west of Charles Street anywhere near this restaurant. Parking is free!"

  • "I am an Everyman subscriber who was so unhappy about the move because there's really nothing appealing food wise at the new location. Forno is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I loved the cauliflower, the mussels were perfect, and my pizza was delicious. I'd like to see a little more variety on the menu. Love that you can sit outside."

  • "We go here before the theater and have really enjoyed it. The ambiance is lovely and we can actually talk to each other and be heard. The menu is a little esoteric but the pizza is delicious as our some of the small plates which we tried."

  • "Great staff, yummy food!! The owner Byran is really nice , came over to table and checked on everyone. "

  • "What a nice surprise! Forno is comfortable - from the rustic wood tables and cozy banquettes, to the good sized bar and outdoor tables off street. The wood fired oven pizza was delicious and the selection of small plates, salads, and entrees for vegans to carnivores was adequate. I've already recommended Forno to my friends and can't wait to go back. "

  • "Restaurant uses good ingredients but needs better preparation. Except for the wonderful dessert, everything we had was terribly bland. Hope they can improve because I really like the place."

  • "The title says it all. Also great salads and apps. Service was the best. We were visiting and looking for a place that might match The Black Birch in Kittery Maine. We found it!"

  • "The food was interesting, great roasted Cauliflower starter and smoked chicken main--Shared by 2 people , More than enough food--Well prepared and location for Everyman Theatre is fantastic. "

  • "My friends and I tried Forno before going to the Hippodrome. We thought this was a perfect spot..... such a convenient location! Loved the decor and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. Salads and pizza were very good. They could use a bit more variety, but I'm sure that will come in time. Will definitely go there again."

  • "I enjoyed our experience at Forno before or after a theatre (Everyman and Hippodrome). It is wonderfully convenient. Restaurant area is airy and nicely decorated. We ordered small plates, wine, and pizza. All were good. Only criticism was that you had to sit in the bar area to take advantage of happy hour, this was not noted on web page. Also the napkins looked like rags, not ironed and sloppy looking. "

  • "We went after a show at the Hippodrome. The service was pleasant, but reserved. The kitchen seemed efficient and well timed. A standout from our order was the Grilled Greens - crispy and sautéed, light olive oil, sea salt and garlic. Wonderful and generously portioned as an appetizer. The Crispy Chicken Skins are an excellent substitute for those who love pork rinds. Flavorful and light, not greasy. Portion size just a tad skimpy for the price. The Margherita pizza could have been better - much too salty and not enough basil. The crust was nice - thin and not chewy. The butterscotch coffee cream topping on the brownie bar was wonderful - light, smooth and more like caramel. We will go back. "

  • "Forno is a well designed and interesting space. The menu is also interesting and different. The food was pretty good, but service was only ok. Dirty plates were left on the table for extended periods of time even though waiters stopped by to deliver or check on things, and food was delivered staggered rather that all at once. "

  • "It is so nice to have a quality place to grab a bite before going to the Hippodrome. It is a great location with a delicious menu and professional staff."
