  • "Didn't know anything about Fork. Found it by chance looking for a midway point for a family brunch with my adulT kids who live in the city. Reviews looked good and they took reservations. It was a beautiful day and Lincoln Square was bustling - great neighborhood. Got seated promptly. Service was excellent. Between the 6 of us we were able to have the Hangover cure, chicken and waffles, chiliquias (sp?) and a few others. Food was excellent. Ambiance was very nice. Windows were open to the sidewalk and our table was very comfortable. I'll be back and will allow extra time to enjoy the neighborhood."

  • "Went here for a casual Thursday nite dinner on a beautiful summer night in Chicago. Loved that the walls/doors slide open giving you an outdoor feel in the dining room. We chose the dining room over the sidewalk, because the tables are very close on the sidewalk and there is no privacy between tables. The eggplant caviar smear is exceptional, the buratta smear with the tomato jam is not to be missed, the mussels were tender and flavorful and the broth was great! The fresh ham on the Fork flight, was more fat than meat and when we mentioned it to the waiter, it was replaced with excellent ham within minutes. We also had wine flights which were good as well."

  • "Our large intergenerational party had a wonderful brunch at Fork on Fathers' Day. The brunch offerings appealed to our variety of tastes. Everything was delicious. Special kudos for the eggs benedict florentine, the chicken and waffles, and the bacon-wrapped dates. The fact that there were so many families in the restaurant is a tribute to the welcoming style of a spot that is also very appealing to adults, with its extensive and thoughtful wine, beer and cocktail lists."

  • "We went here before seeing a concert down at Old Town School of Folk Music and had a few drinks and dinner. We just ordered a bunch of things and shared, everything was great especially the poutine! The sidecar drink was to die for and the bartender even made a mommytini for my pregnant friend. We sat outsider and it was a beautiful night. Will definitely visit again!"

We tried half of the menu and there were no regrets. Even though we were stuffed, we tried two of their dessert selections and scraped the plates clean. Easy street parking and outdoor seating make this a real neighborhood gem. Obviously the feeling is shared by many because it was very lively for a rainy Tuesday evening."

  • "Fork is our go-to restaurant in the Lincoln Square neighborhood. The food is always top-notch and the ingredients are fresh, thanks to the great work by Chef Tim. Service is excellent, and the extensive selection of beers and wines allows for many creative pairings. We had the pike special and it was exceptional. We started with an appetizer of mussels and finished with desserts (mine was the apple pie/cobbler and my wife had the pudding with butterscotch. On other occasions, we start with the mushroom and grits, which is the best outside of the south and better than most in the south. Another favorite is the poutine. The Quebecois may object, but it much tastier than anything that we ate in Quebec. As for kids, the staff makes it easy."

  • "With a great energetic and innovative chef, Fork continues to improve, innovate and amaze. We started brunch by sitting on the patio & enjoying house Bloody Mary's - strong and flavorful - with nice accompaniments. First came the house donuts - this week's flavored with Stout and covered with powdered sugar. Excellent! French toast, chicken/waffles & eggs benedict were prepared as ordered and came with sides of bacon, cooked absolutely to perfection. The bagel and lox were fresh & came with correct amounts of capers, tomato and egg. Service was excellent with the entire staff helpful, efficient & friendly. Finishing brunch w/sorbet & crème brulee was just the right touch, both light & flavorful. A fun, enjoyable brunch experience. A+!!"

I was weary of the mother's day brunch prior to going and I wish I would have waited to go there when I could order off the menu; the food might have been better. There were a lot of items on the brunch set up and you could order one of three omelets but I did not enjoy the food very much. the line to get food was very long and service was a bit slow. I realize it was mother's day a very busy day, but still I was not thrilled at all with this brunch. "

  • "Can't be beat in the Lincoln Square neighborhood, especially when the weather is nice. Ample outdoor seating, plus with the bay windows open, the inside tables feel like you're outside. Great beer list. Very strong beer list. Interesting food choices--deliciously prepared. Service with a smile. We like everything about the place--we've made three recent visits."

Other 2 people enjoyed their selection, but I was not really impressed with mine. the Cobb Salad was large but did not have much taste and dressing was sparse. The chicken in it was delicious and the bacon, but lots of lettuce. All portions are plentiful and coffee is given very often. Feel it was my selection and will try something else next time. Prices are reasonable."

The menu promises wonderful things, but what arrives at your table is, more time than not, disappointing.   • "My wife and I love Fork. We had a party of eight with a reservation and all, and the food was plentiful and yummy as were the drinks and things as they always are. I liked the little touches of a candle for our celebration, etc. but having a large group proved complicated. Our server was attentive but at the same time, was confusing about whether gratuity was or was not added by default and he indicated they couldn't split our bill so we had to do a lot of math gymnastics to make sure the bill and gratuity was handled appropriately. This little annoyance marred an otherwise awesome evening. If you go, get the poutine, the farmhouse burger, and the brussel sprouts. They're always amazing."

  • "We enjoyed Fork as a place near the Old Town School that takes reservations. The food was fine, nothing all that outstanding. I was also drawn to the place because they had a variety of beers on tap. As an IPA fan, I ordered one, the only one on tap it seems. After looking on the menu I saw the alcohol content was 12%. For a beer drinker, that's a quick way to end an evening. There are many, many good IPAs in the 6% range or less. They need to have some."

  • "I made a small group reservation for an 11 a.m. brunch. My group arrived right before 11:00 a.m. and we then waited 25 minutes for a table. About 20 minutes into our wait, the hostess explained that several tables in the restaurant had already paid but that patrons simply wouldn't leave. Someone brought us complimentary mimosas because we had been waiting so long, although one person in our party was hugely, visibly pregnant so a mimosa wasn't really helpful. Finally a table opened up and everything went smoothly from there. The service was good, food was delicious. This is less a restaurant complaint than a patron complaint. (Seriously, once you've paid - get out! It's so rude!). Fork folks could have let us know the problem sooner."

  • "Sat outside. I ordered a cheese flight and mussels, son ordered soup and mussels and wife ordered just lamb. Waited 20-25 minutes and ALL the food arrived at once. It was comical as they tried to get everything onto a pretty small table, No apologies or explanation, As I realized we had just bypassed the appetizer stage, I asked for another glass of wine. Waited 10 minutes (finishing most of the meal) when I asked a waiter (not ours) about it. He produced it in seconds--said it had been "sitting there". Food itself was great (though entrées were a bit cold by the time we got to them) and menu is really interesting. Maybe we just got a new waiter?"

  • "This was one of the better meals out that I'd had in a very long time. I had my foodie sister in town, so I took a risk and chose to take her somewhere new. It paid off! The service was excellent - at one point, we had the chef serving us food, which showed us that when food is ready to go out, EVERYONE runs food. Must try the kale salad. We were so obsessed with it that we ordered another round to go! "

  • "I am a big Fork fan. I eat here quite often but this is the first time I have tried the brunch. They were mobbed from the time the doors opened so that may have been part of the problem. Ordered homemade donut holes and dipping sauces came after they were consumed. Fried egg sandwiches were served eggs over easy and made for messy eating. One of our party had the blood orange hollandaise on the eggs benedict and said it was the best she's ever eaten. As I said I am a frequent diner at Fork and will likely give brunch another try - but my first impression was it wasn't up to usual standards."

  • "I can't really comment on the food overall as we've done the brunch, which was very good, and the only things we ever get when we come for dinner are the mussels and chorizo dates wrapped in bacon. We LOVE the French style mussels with garlic fries (on par with Hopleaf's for sure) and chorizo dates. The mussels are always clean and the broth is amazing with bacon chunks and garlic. They also make a very good manhattan with a solid selection of whiskey and rye. Just a great place to come for consistently hearty and inexpensive comfort items. We will continue to come here.
