Fork RestaurantStellar!I can't say enough about how fantastic Fork was on our visit. We were warmly welcomed, given a beautiful table, loved the menu, and experienced prompt and courteous service. But, in all truth, it was the food that blew our minds! "Outstanding" is the first word that springs to mind yet doesn't come close to the level of our enjoyment. We were just thrilled and can't wait to go back!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome food, but soooo not 4 kidsWe went to the Arden Theater which is very close to Fork - and is recommended if you go to the theater. The food is fabulous, eclectic and different however, the Arden has many kids show and this place is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo not for kids. There is not a kid menu, and their version of chicken nuggets was chicken breast in a white shell which my son would not eat...(it tasted great to us!)
So yes, go as adults, go with friends, but do not bring kids!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding !!Fork has always been a great restaurant. It has even upgraded itself with the new menu and new look. Great service, great atmosphere, and very creative (and tasty) menu. Very recommended for a special occasion!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMYou had me at Rhubarb ConsomméFork is an old friend who just keeps getting better and better. This pioneering restaurant is the cute gal with the good taste next door who grew up to blow you away with her sublime artistry. She got a little smarter, a little hipper, a little more schooled and a lot more beautiful every year. We were away from her for about 3 months, which is all it took for her to go from reliably creative and delicious to mind-bogglingly gorgeous and absolutely ingenious. Did I mention the rhubarb consommé?6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely EveningFork exceeded our expectations. Our party of four enjoyed the Fork house menu. I highly recommend the duck. Wait staff was attentive and explained each dish beautifully without being intrusive. Each course was interesting and well presented. We will be back.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExtraordinarily inventiveExtraordinarily inventive kitchen. There were some misses, but overall the experience was fantastic. The biggest complaint was that the desserts all missed. The finish should be spectacular and this finish was disappointing, but frankly by that time we were so full it didn't really matter! But still with such a high quality kitchen, the pastry chef should be much better.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious MealMy Bronzino was absolutely delicious as was our chocolate peanut butter dessert. Albeit a little pricey.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood and expensiveWe had the chef,s tasting menu for $70 each. The starters were terrific so was the many little dishes as a surprise with the chef tasting. My pork was not what the menu said. It was a sampling of pork dishes sausage, rib, pork chop (very small) and a little pulled pork. It was good.. My wife had Bronzino ;she said she had had better.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMiddle of the Day TreatMy colleague & I returned to Fork to try out their new prefix lunch menu. He started with the wonderful chicken nuggets (not anything like what MC makes!) and I with the scallops. Two very diverse dishes. My scallops were so light and airy, his chicken was crisp and tasty with a great mustard sauce. He had the hanger steak and I the turkey burger. I know they sound prosaic, but they were anything but. I was completely stuffed but somehow found room for the lemon curd with grapefruit soup dessert. Every restaurant should have a dessert like this to finish off a meal. It was so scrumptious. The only very small glitch was an inexperienced waitperson. She was sweet just not very knowledgeable. We assumed that's why she worked lunch not dinner.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIt just gets better everyIt just gets better every time. The new chef and menu are superb! We had guests from out of town who were
in food heaven. They have surpassed themselves.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMsimply phenomenal dinner;simply phenomenal dinner; wonderful service; inventive menu; highly recommended6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDesert DessertMy entree was lovely, but when the dessert came, I was disappointed and a bit angry. Fork could easily provide larger dessert portions without losing money. The choices were interesting and the tasting bites I had from my two dining partners were good, but the portions were laughable. At $10 each, these portions are a joke. I felt that the chef was taking advantage of the diners' good will and trust. After reading the enticing descriptions, it was a colossal let down to see what the waiter placed before us. What a disappointing way to end the meal. If I eat here again, I will desert the dessert course and go somewhere else. That $30, plus tax, plus 20% gratuity portion of our bill could have been better spent elsewhere.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAll in all, dinner at ForkAll in all, dinner at Fork was pretty good, not great. It's a bit overpriced for the food, but tasty. We had a great appetizer; smoked pate with caviar. My husband had the steak, which he enjoyed, and I had the bronzino. It was served with a piece of toasted bread on top and spinach underneath. There was a nice sauce on the plate but there could have been more of that. They also included disks of what seemed to be chewy potatoes. They were not good at all. The service was great and the place is active and attractive. I'd go back but I'd like to see a little bit lower pricing.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMone of the best meals everThis restaurant is located two hours from my home. If it were closer, I'd go as often as possible. Our food was not only beautiful and filling, but also perfectly seasoned, portioned and served by an amazing staff. I felt like royalty while dining at Fork. I give it my highest possible praise.
I had the grilled carrot salad which was sweet and savory and gorgeous! I also had the pistachio stuffed agnolotti which was superb. Go. There. Now.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting food combinationsWell-prepared and presented interesting food arrangements and combinations. Currently, delicious roasted carrots and lovely branzino. Service attentive but officious waitress became irritating-everyone else was excellent.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGets better all the timeEach tine we visit Fork, the food and menu is better than the last time. Service was very good and attentive.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMYou want a slam dunk - go here.I've been enjoying Philadelphia restaurants for over 12 years. I had never made it to Fork, probably because I worked for a local competitor for several years. I was impressed from start to finish and fork is by far one of the top five restaurants I've ever been to in the city. Treat yourself!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA great mealWe were headed home from the Shore and went to Fork on a whim because our children had stayed behind with relatives. We had been to Fork before but not recently. Since having children, an evening in Center City is an extra special treat. We made a last minute reservation and really had a wonderful meal. Often when we go out, we lament that we could have made the meal better at home. This was certainly not the case at Fork. The food was interesting and absolutely delicious. We had a very knowledgeable waiter that was pleasant and willing to answer our questions.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA feast for your palate to enjoy! Each and every selection was welled prepared and the knowledgeable and friendly wait staff listened and explained everything with ease and great detail...Kudos to the new Chef and Ellen Yin has once again raised the bar for an exceptional dining experience!
The unique desserts were also a highlight, and I personally ususally do not have room or time for dessert, it simply couldn't be risisted here at FORK and each of the 3 we decided on were superb!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFork is one of Philadelphia's best!Second time I have been to Fork in the last few months and it was as get this time as before. The food is spectacular -- interesting, well presented, and unique. Took my son and his girlfriend and they were equally impressed with the food, service and ambience.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThanks for honoring my requestThanks for honoring my request for a round table! With a group of six, it just makes for better conversation flow.
Our group goes to the Arden after dinner and we appreciate the 10% off. We'll be back next season since we enjoyed our visit to Fork so much!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Food and ServiceChef Eli Kulp is really putting his heart and soul into everything that come out of his kitchen!!! The three of us all have sophisticated palates and thought that this was one of the best meals we've had... anywhere. Get the house menu, make sure one of the people at your table orders the Carrots and the Branzino!!! Keep up the great work Chef Eli and entire team at Fork!!!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming Brunch SpotI've been to their next-door neighbor, Fork Etc. more times than I can count, but this was my first time at the sit-down restaurant.
We started with the ginger yogurt, which came topped with pistachios, cardamom-infused honey and blood oranges -- a delightful and not-too-filling starter. Our entrees -- a broccoli rabe sausage and grits, a frittata with stinging nettles and a "gnudi" pasta -- all offered surprising punches of flavor.
On the down side, our refill of coffee was only lukewarm and the hostess didn't seem prepared to seat us when we arrived, despite having reservations and the restaurant being nearly empty. But, none of that detracted from our experience.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFork never disappoints!Great food, impeccable service, even my 8 year old boy was happy! Love fork. Thanks again.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb.Great in every way. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the occasional surprises from the kitchen.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty foodThe food was tasty and delicious. Portions are somewhat small but still reasonable. Could be more vegetarian options. Nice beer selections5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were celebrating a collegeWe were celebrating a college graduation and the wonderful food and service really added to our celebration.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMthe bestgreat food...great service...great restaurant...need i say more...go see for yourself5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA wonderful evening. We had a table by the window which was very quiet. It was a memorable evening.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best Food in PhiladelphiaThis restaurant is fantastic. I have used it 3 occasions now, sometimes for dinner entertaining and sometimes just for social pleasure and it has never once failed to impress.
I've eaten in top restaurants across Philadelphia and around the world and I honestly believe that Fork has the best food I've eaten anywhere!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat, innovative flavor pairingsThe best things were: the earl grey gin cocktail, the eggplant toasts, the spring greens salad, and the black and white pici pasta. The turkey entree was underwhelming.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly, knowledgeable andFriendly, knowledgeable and most competent service. Very pleasant atmosphere. Excellent food selection and quality. Asparagus with ham "special" appetizer was particularly outstanding. The pici pasta was superb and the "pastrami lamb" a very tasty and imaginative dish. Overall, very enjoyable time and better than anticipated despite high expectations based upon reviews and reputation. We will be back, for sure.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI appreciate the capable waitersI appreciate the capable waiters and waitresses - yes that is old fashioned language, but good solid, non-invasive service is also out-of-date in many places, but not at Fork. I had a business dinner with five people and the wait staff (no not the distaff) served without interfering. Fork's menu is inventive and original enough and the food is consistently well prepared. Keep up the good work and Fork will be around for many more years.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA little rushedThe food is creative, many layered, and quite delicious. The three of us had the house 4course dinners which were well worth the $65.00per person charge. We shared our dishes ,thus had the opportunity to experience an amazing array of tastes.
The waitstaff was very attentive and informative.
However, and this is a big however, we were rushed through the first few courses. While we were still eating the amuse bouché
the next course was served and that continued for the next two servings. It was annoying and did not give us an opportunity to savor each dish.as we had wanted to do. We dined at 6:00p.m. And perhaps they needed the table but that is no excuse.
We will return for the sublime food but will caution the servers TO SLOW DOWN.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch ExperienceSo much has changed since my last visit from the dining room art to the food presentation and menu. Amazing zesty foraged green salad that makes regular spring greens seem blah. The brunch smoked salmon and bagels are my recommendation best salmon I had in a while and presentation was stunning. I would of overlooked it if the server hadn't pointed it out.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Food, wonderful house menuWe ordered the house menu-what an amazing decision! The food was perfectly prepared; the pasta with pistachio sauce and rabbit could not have been done better. The skate was amazing, the caviar was to-die for, and the dessert was something that could not be matched.
The explorative nature of the bakery is a little too much for me (squid bread?), but that doesn't make it degrade the overall quality of the restaurant.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFrequent dinner at ForkWe live in NJ, but vist and stay in Philly quite often. Every time we are in Philly we dine at the Fork Restaurant.
In our estimation this is one of the finest restaurants .... food, ambience and seemless, professional service.
As one dines at Fork, it is amazing to watch Ellen (the owner) keep her finger on the pulse of what's happening5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming waitress, promptCharming waitress, prompt service
Imaginative appetizer/great oysters, expensive wine by the glass5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWowed by ForkI chose Fork for a business dinner on a Tuesday, when it was not busy. From the get go, I sensed this was going to be an excellent to outstanding dinner. The service was very balanced in terms of formality and familiarity. We took our server's recommendation and went with the four-course set menu for $65. Overall, the menu reflects the chef's whimsical approach and works deliciously. Every dish from starter to dessert applies a "play on words" in its make up and presentation. The bread courses and starters in particular reflect this "play on words". The Dining Room has an understated and calm decor and nicely complements the food. The wine list is probably the one area to improve, hence the four vs five stars.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my second visit inThis was my second visit in four months, the previous one being prior to CLB'S review in the Inky. I'm happy to say that nothing has changed, and everything he said in his review is true. The food and the service remain first-rate. It was the first visit for my guests, and they raved over everything.
A personal comment: I rarely eat fried foods, but the pickled onion rings that accompanied the lamb burger had me wanting to ask for seconds.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the BestFood , service and ambiance all perfect. Pasta's aree special as is the bread. Never got to an entree . Wine selection was appreciated.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMa gournet's treat. We thoroughlya gournet's treat. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The wine list was predominantly french with excellent options to pair with the food. We will return.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFork continues its greatnessHave loved fork and owner Ellen since it opened. Now with new chef makes it a very special place to dine. Waiters are great the lobster dish is absolutely wonderful. Dont think I've had anything that wasn't great since chef arrived. Will definitely recommend to friends and continue to celebrate there.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNice gem on a busy street.Nice gem on a busy street. Delicious and fit perfectly for a long leisurely lunch.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome time but make sureAwesome time but make sure you have time before other plans as the draw out the dining experience which is awesome4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSome of the best food thatSome of the best food that I have ever eaten! The delicacies of the blends of tastes truly created a sensuous eating experience!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA Philly FindAdventurous and elegant food. We were served too quickly, however, not enough time to savor the different tastes. It felt as if we were being moved on so another group of 4 could be seated, Over all, it's an excellent restaurant.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good. MyThe food was very good. My only complaint is that there were NO options for vegetarians - even the pastas all had meat.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always a outstanding foodAs always a outstanding food and service we've never been disappointed in any of our visit.
When evr we have visitors it's were we take them and they love it!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful meal andWe had a wonderful meal and the price-fix option made it so affordable.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
