A word from Fork Restaurant
Fork, acclaimed for its contemporary American cuisine for over 15 years, features 2014 Food & Wine Best New Chef Eli Kulp’s inventive-but approachable menu inspired by the region’s finest produce, seafood and meat as well as the area's deep history. Part of Fork's allure is its hip, stylish, sophisticated interior, where the dining experience is anything but stuffy and uncomfortable. Fork's hand-painted chandelier shades catch your eye as you look above the cast-concrete bar. Modern contemporary murals painted by Anthony DeMelas accentuate the height of the ceilings. Since opening, Fork has received the praise of many local and national publications, including the New York Times, USA Today, Town and Country, Food and Wine, Wine Spectator, Zagat's and Gourmet. Fork has received 15 Best of Philly awards from Philadelphia Magazine.Continued
Diner Reviews
  • "A meal at Fork is often outstanding. Innovative, imaginative, flavorful, food that looks good and tastes good. We love taking friends from out of town so we can show off one of Philadelphia's finest restaurant choices."

  • "Pretty place with great food and wonderful service. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Enjoyed watching the open kitchen. The house-made gemelli with lamb ragu, pecorino and an egg was the winning choice. Good drink menu, good wine choices. Will definitely return for dinner."

  • "My date and I had the duck feast and it was superb. On top of her delicious meal, my glass was never empty and our waiter was sure to explain every item of food before me. It was a lovely experience."

  • "Fork lived up tot he reviews. We had a group of six and all were impressed. Very good restaurant ex[erience from the time we arrived until we left. Highly recommended."

  • "This has been one of my most wonderful dinning experiences. We, party of 3, have ordered the "House Menu" with four courses. Not only the food prepared with care and well-designed, each course is a feast for both the palate and the eye! Moreover, the server is very attentive, but never overbearing. She took time to explain and suggested something to my wife, when she needed a little help to select. They also served little tasty food between courses and they are special on their own. They were served by other staff, who are equally knowledgeable and courteous. My daughter agrees it was way worth the money, especially when compared with the NYC dining scenery, which would be two to three times more expensive. Again, this is a gem:)"

  • "Expensive and food overrated Noisy slow service Listed as$$ but more like $$$$ Misled by open table Would never go back"

  • "Fork has been one of our favorite restaurants for years so we were looking forward to a return with some friends who had not been there last Sunday, after a bit of an absence. To our disappointment, somethng has been lost in recent transitions. The menu was still enticing on paper. However, my zucchini blossoms appetizer of the evening seemed to be collection of healthy looking but not very tasty titbits served with overgreasy blossoms. The highly touted tile fish was salty to the point of being inedible. Obviously, the taster bungled on that for the evening. Also, the cosmo, despite attempts at resurrection by the bartender, just did not taste like one. So we settled for the delicious aperol cocktail instead."

  • "The hype and sell was just not worth it. Expectations always lead to disappointments. Waitress did a wonderful job explaining I am sure what had been scripted. The presentation sell was subtle and worked We ordered based on this but we were all - "it's just OK" Nothing special and these days with the local competition it needs to be special."

  • "Wow - we were shocked by the poor service and average food. Will never return."

  • "After visiting Fork many times over the years I can say it is now better than ever. Owner Ellen Yin, Chef Eli Culp, and GM Joey Campanella have created a world class dining experience that is not to be missed by anyone serious about food. It is worth a trip to Philadelphia to enjoy food, wine, and service as good as it gets anywhere."

  • "We were four old friends meeting for luncheon during a recent convention. Each luncheon dish was superb, with compliments all around. Their touch with Italian was superb. Each of us enjoyed our dishes. With friendly, considerate, and helpful service, this restaurant is a gem to be enjoyed repeatedly. Even the bourbon aperitif was delightful! Strongly recommend to anyone who enjoys fine food, great service help, and a friendly, local environment. No Philly attitude here!!"

  • " The bar selection and service was very good. The food and preparation was excellent. Food service just OK. The wait staff seemed to disappear after the main course."

  • "Excellent food; original ideas and great execution. A wonderful place for a special meal."

  • "Mostly lives up to the hype but made the mistake of ordering tasting menu. Interesting dishes but I lack the patience for so many tiny bites and its not enough food - especially for the price. Server was good but stretched thin. Biggest complaint is wine list; researched several bottles prior to visit and those that retail for ~$20 are ~$80 on the list. This is unacceptable so brought own bottle and paid the $25 corkage."

  • "Fork continues to delight. This is currently one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. Everything is great from the breads to the duck feast! Inventive wine list and excellent friendly service."

  • "I've loved this place for years, probably since it opened. It's beautiful inside, without a hint of pretentiousness. The food is top rate. The elegant owner is almost always there and almost always greets every diner. If you're in Philly and looking for an excellent and extremely pleasurable meal, don't miss it!"
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "All the food was great, service was great and the only complaint I have is the noise but that's unavoidable with a place that's so hot, hot, hot! Worth the noise for this quality of food."
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "Fork has always been a favorite, but since Chef Kulp has arrived it has rapidly risen to one of the very best of Philly. Expensive but worth every penny."

  • "I have been eating at Fork for over 15 years now. It used to be one of my favorites. But the food has really gone downhill these past few years. I am sad but have to take it off my list of restaurants in Philly."

  • "There is a reason chefs in the city eat at fork. It may be for the ideas but it is definitely for the tastes. They are nailing it. Inclusive of some of he best gluten free options I have tasted to date"

  • "We came here to celebrate Father's Day, based on their reputation. BIG mistake. We ordered from the Terrior Tasting menu ($95 pp). In the end, you could have fit each "course" onto the dinner plate with room to spare. Our first course: 1 small but flavorful oyster. Next: Asparagus with bee pollen. 1 stalk per person! Are you kidding me? This sparse tasting was made worse by the very loud, "happy" table of 4 gals who were so obnoxious, customers were staring and leaning into their tablemates in order to hear something other than their cackling. 1 of their spilled and broken drinks landed on the back of another diner. Shame on Fork for taking more time to describe these pitiful portions, then it did for me to eat them. We left hungry."

  • "I hadn't been to Fork in quite some time. I don't think it lived up to its recent hype. The food was good and artfully presented. But the service was odd. We sat down at the bar for a drink It took 10 minutes to get our drinks. I have never seen bartenders in slow motion before. They were out of advertised Plymouth gin. While our meal service was fine, the tables on either side of us had problems. The wrong dishes were served at one table and the server asked if they wanted it anyway. The diners to our right finished dessert and then the server brought them bread and butter. He seemed to have forgotten they had already eaten. He realized his blunder and removed them. So while we didn't have a bad experience, it wasn't great either."

  • "Unbelievable food, although it is pricey. Desserts were the weakest link. Everything else was superb. Window seat was fun. Very attentive staff. Hope to go back soon."

  • "We were welcomed with attitude from a hostess at the door. Food was great but very small portions. "

  • "The food combinations were ones I would never think of combining, some worked and some did not. A strawberry and pea salad was actually delicious; a pretzel nugget stuffed with a tad of cheese whiz not notable. The lamb 3 ways (neck, belly, body) was extremly fatty except for the body. Having such high expectations I felt a little let down. I must say the desserts were amazing...unusual combinatons that do work!! The root beer chocolate mousse...amazing and the strawberries and cream delicious!! Phila. has so many delectable restaurants, I will opt to try another before going back to Fork."

  • "I had a salad and oil-poached pollock and both dishes were way over salted. But at least the portions were small. "

  • "We went on a Sunday evening, pre-theater, and the experience was excellent. The service was attentive, the atmosphere conducive to conversation and the food top-notch. My dining companions had the "4 part" duck for 2 which was original, cooked to perfection, hearty, and plenty to eat. I had the most delicious bronzino! A great time was had by all!"

  • "I haven't been to Fork in a few years and decided to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I was told there is a new chef/partner and the menu has changed. I was very surprised on how good the food and presentation was. The portions are on the small side but each dish was delicious from appetizer to dessert."

  • "Enjoyed my dining experience at Fork. The food was great, menu was diverse. Steak my husband had was cooked to perfection. Would definitely return!"

  • "I took my husband to Fork for his birthday and he loved it. The choices were very unique. I would recommend asking questions about the menu! We didn't know what some of the things were and ordered it any way. The scallops ended up being served raw, which my husband wouldn't have ordered if we knew. However, everything tasted really good! I would recommend the 4 courses. We were very full by the end of the meal! Definitely recommend it!"

  • "This is a place that is truly fit for foodies. Our waitress was so knowledgable and patient explaining the menu. Every single thing we had was different, creative and beautiful and most of all to die for. Menu seems a little out there but when the dishes come they are just plain delicious. Bread courses served in-between are crazy good too. I Look forward to when we can return."

  • "We ordered multiple small plates that were all flavored amazingly with great presentations and novel combinations of flavors. We also ordered the whole duck that was served as a number of plates. The duck breast was awesome and the pepper relish and au jus complemented the flavor of the perfectly prepared breast. The wines selected for us complemented the food perfectly. The service was warm, prompt, and professional."

  • "Great service and wonderful experience. However, the lobster was undercooked for my perference and spoiled a good meal."

  • "Definitely one of the best meals I've had in Philly lately. Dishes not to miss are the vitello tonnato, pappardelle and the black and white pici"

  • "From my experience of Sunday brunch with a group of eight, it was definitely a great place for foodies. The food was unique and delicious (but not great for the picky eater who enjoys more traditional menu options). The service was very accommodating, and although they brought the wrong dish for someone in my group they were very apologetic, leaving the first dish for us to try while they brought out the next. They even brought out a complimentary dessert for the graduate (as I was there to celebrate a graduation)! Overall, it was an enjoyable time spent with family while trying out out-of-the-ordinary dishes and flavors."
