A word from Fork & Wrench
The Fork & Wrench bar and dining room in Fell’s Prospect, Baltimore offers glocaly sourced, craft made fare and libations. The owners worked for two years to design and hand build the interior space themselves with the goal of evoking the 20’s, 30,s and 40’s working class. There are hints of a workshop, a linen factory line, a pharmacy, a college science lab, and a savings and loan office scattered thru out the rooms, balconies and courtyards of the space. It is their intent to combine the dive bar and 4-star attitudes into one space for the benefit of the “modern day” working class. The kitchen offers craft made fare using all local produce and meats when available. They use old recipes and new techniques (and vice-versa) with global influences to arm their ever-changing menu. We hope you enjoy!Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We had the burger for brunch, which was excellent. For dessert, the Nutella cake was really good and very different that the standard flourless chocolate options you always see at restaurants"

  • "We have been to the Fork and Wrench 3 times this month, because the food is unique and delicious. The noise level in the 1st floor dining room is high, if there are very many guests; quieter in the bar and upstairs. This is a really good restaurant!"

  • "Heard good things and were not disappointed. Friendly helpful staff and delicious food. My shrimp with polenta gnocchi was yummy. I soaked up every bit of sauce with bread. Tomato bases sauce spiced just right. My friend had Arctic char and ate every bit. Peach crumble was perfect for 2. Topping crunchy w/ nuts and not overly sweet. Plus it was Tuesday and there were half price wines. We drank a crisp rosé. Would definitely return."

  • "This was my second time at the Fork and it did not disappoint. They menu changed to a small plate offering on this visit which I thought I'd dislike at first, but ended up loving just as much as the original menu. Went on a Sunday. There was a large group/event upstairs so we were seated in the bar area which was fine. Service was great and the bartended can mix a mean drink. If it wasn't so far away, I'd eat here more often."

  • "Uncomfortable evening due to the excessive noise. Food good, but not exceptional. Very pricey for a below average experience."

  • "We are over the moon with our experience of this eclectic restaurant. The food was amazing with every bite. The food here was designed the way food was meant to be. There are different components on the dish, that if tasted separately aren't that great, but when you taste the dish with a little bit of every piece on the fork, it creates this wonderful burst of flavor in your mouth. Our server wasn't amazing, but all the all the others around him made up for it. I couldn't wait to tell all my friends about it. And most of all, I can't wait to go back."

  • "This place is fantastic. The food is innovative and delicious. The cocktails are old-time-- crafted and creative. The services is first-rate. The decor is creative and engaging. I hate to recommend it too much b/c it's SO good! Places like this just don't scale-up to being bigger (nor do I think they want to). If you just walk in, at least on a Friday or Saturday evening, you can expect to be sat at the bar-- this place TOTALLY books up. They do a great job of handling full capacity, and I really liked that all staff seem to be able to pitch in everywhere, but this doesn't deter from service. The menu is outstanding but not very big/long, which also helps ensure that everything you get is delicious & nicely-plated."

  • "The food at the Fork & Wrench was outstanding. Our server was fantastic and walked us through the dishes and specialty drinks so we had a meal that suited us perfectly. The ambiance was nicely lit (not too dark or bright), decor was cool mix of modern/rustic (like a hip speak-easy style), and there was plenty of room around our table, making it a perfect date or meeting spot. Bourbon drinkers must try their barrel aged Vieux Carre drink; it'll knock your socks off."

  • "This was my third time to F&W in 6 months. Each time has been different. The menu is variable, which is good and bad. The bad part is that sometimes the choices are not very good. This past weekend there were only 6 entrees to choose from and only one was meat (brisket). The others were char, shrimp, octopus, soft shell crab and I think a vegetarian choice. This was far too limiting in terms of meat. The desserts were excellent. We had the peach crisp. It had a great, crunchy topping. Appetizers were fairly good. The escargot bun is our favorite. Our waiter was pleasant and knowledgeable. However, he did not ask whether my mother liked her brisket, which she left most of on her plate, just whether she wanted to take it home (NO)."

  • "My wife and I both had the octopus entree. First off the portions were radically different sizes with hers being much larger. Ultimately it didn't matter because the food was poor at best. The food was too spongy. The poached octopus had no consistency and the potatoes were mushy. Also the kale salad was a chopped pile of bland taste. The meal was bad enough that we skipped dessert figuring that would be disappointing too."

  • "Brunch was spectacular, the service terrific and four of us had different plates, but all agreed one was better than another. The third floor would be a great place to hold a shower, birthday party, or a special event. The cocktails were fun and well executed."

  • "My wife and I finally got a chance to try Fork and Wrench for date night this past weekend. What a treat! The cocktail menu is several pages long and includes some old-fashioned classics as well as innovative creations. We were surprised to find a short wine list, but there was enough variety to fit the bill. I strongly recommend the smoked octopus...don't be dismayed by the $36 price as it was one of the most delicious and innovative dishes I've eaten in Baltimore! My wife opted for the Steak Frites, which was as expected but perhaps not a stand-out. While we dined in-doors, there is an enclosed patio which looks like a nice retreat from city life. Enjoy!"

  • "Fork & Wrench was an amazing dining experience. Chuck was a phenomenal waiter, and Evan was a great bartender. We sat outside in the back patio and found ourselves eating delicious food and rocking out to great music."

  • " I went there for brunch. The food was interesting but extremely salty. My friends had the same complaint."

  • "The food and selection of food were both excellent. The drinks were very good as well. The restaurant itself was very cool from an ambience perspective and the service was great. The servers were clearly invested in the success of the restaurant, as appeared to be the chef, from his food. The commitment came through in both the service and the food. While the restaurant is very unique in its decor and worth the visit to see how it has been accomplished, what really matters is the food and I would have sat on the sidewalk for what they brought to our table. While we were only in town for the weekend, this will definitely be on my list to return to next time I am in Baltimore."

  • "We live in close walking distance from Fork & Wrench and drop in all the time. They never disappoint, and keep improving. The bar has always been great, making many of their own liquers and bitters and such in house. The food has always been good, but since Chef Cyrus started, the food is absolutely top-class, and we always have great service. The only downside is that the menu is sometimes lacking in lighter items."

  • "We've been wanting to try F&W for awhile. My best friend and her husband joined us for my birthday dinner, as well as a friend of mine who came down from NYC. My husband had the octopus special and I had the arctic char (I don't recall what they had). Everything was very good. The price tag was a bit high. I think the next time we go I may stick to cocktails and small plates - which is my preferred dinner anyway. Overall, it was very good and I would go back."

  • "So I went here on Saturday night for my anniversary with my husband. While the server was nice she seemed "off" and new and quirky. I was DYING to have the octopus and even though it was $36 I splurged. I was okay but not worth the cost the papas bravas were not spicy (it means angry potatoes) and I make them better. We got queso fundito to start and had no small plates so all the grease dripped on our table. I had to request another beer when it was clear mine was gone. Who doesn't want to upsell more money for a better tip? The mussels were a good ROI, wow very generous but at the same time my hubby got 3 appetizers so we prob should have only gotten 2 with the size of the mussels. the salted caramel lava cake is my fav, winter dish?"

  • "Cocktail list is both classic and adventurous. Fresh juice not syrups. Food selection is smaller plates. No distinct theme but each item was amazing. My only criticism is the use of flour tortillas instead of corn for Queso Fundido con Chorizo. Soft shell crab was made gluten free so if that's an issue, ask! Steak tartare was one of the best I've had to date. Our server, Chuck, was spot on with recommendations."

  • "It's bizarre that a restaurant in 2014 does not have a vegetarian entree on its menu. Even worse, the appetizers are almost entirely non-vegetarian as well. Luckily we occasionally eat seafood, so my wife got the arctic char (good) and I got the octopus. It was well-prepared and tasty but with very little to balance out the heavy protein. Tiny sliced potatoes were not nearly enough. I could only eat half the octopus without filling up and feeling too stuffed. A substantial vegetable or even just more potatoes would have balanced it out. As it is, we left and my wife had to go elsewhere and get a cheese plate. I realize meat is your thing, but even the seafood dishes had bacon or sausage in them! Lighten up the menu, please."

  • "I initially only went to the Fork & Wrench because I was given a gift certificate to dine there. But I would gladly go back on my own dime. The food, service and decor were all very good. The food is inventive, fresh and oh so tasty, while not outlandishly priced. The service was friendly and attentive, but gave us the time and space to chat and digest between courses. All in all, if your experience at the Fork & Wrench is anything like mine, it will become a go to place."

  • "A really neat place to have dinner. Food is very good and presentation is superb. Extensive beer list. The Ommegang Rare Vos is the best beer I have ever enjoyed, and I am a beer drinker with 50+ years of experience(its an amber ale actually). We ate in the mezzanine and our waiter, Michael, was terrific. Food portions are not large, so plan on enjoying an appetizer and entree. We split a delicious dessert and left feeling pleasantly satisfied. We absolutely will return soon with friends."

  • "We celebrated our daughter's high school graduation at Fork & Wrench in early June 2014. The atmosphere was pleasant and the server was patient with our many questions about the unusual menu. The food was fantastic, creative and delicious. My only suggestion is to offer 1 or 2 more accessible options for any non-foodies in a group."

  • "Wanted to order everything but as luck would have it, arrived late and it was BURGER TIME. Check ahead if its happening but apparently after 9, and only of late, you can get a burger that is the best burger I've ever had. Also had the soft shell crab which was amazing. The poutine appetizer was ordered by my dining partner but quickly became mine. Cocktails were great, server was on spot with guidance and helpfulness. Need to return to eat more of the great menu."

  • "Visiting our daughter in Baltimore from Northern New Jersey, we really enjoyed Fork & Wrench. Appetizers and main courses were well-prepared and delicious. We didn't seem to be waiting very long for our main courses, but the server thought that we were so she brought a little something extra (cheese plate) from the kitchen to tide us over. We hadn't said a work and hadn't even thought that, just a nice touch on her part. Only drawback was the people sitting next to us were shouting. Not the fault of the restaurant, and other than that one group the place was not overly loud. "

  • "My boyfriend and I really enjoy gastro pubs. I was happy to find one so close to home for me in Canton. I booked a reservation to celebrate his birthday. The menu seemed to have a high percentage of seafood entrees. Perhaps this was contrived, but I wasn't in the mood for seafood that day and settled on pork ribs and potatoes -delicious. I hear that they change their menu every few weeks, though. My boyfriend had blackened duck, which was also very delicious but small in portion so that he ate off my plate whatever i didnt finish fast enough! I would reccomend this restaurant to a friend, but would caution that to fully enjoy the offerings on the food+ drink menu, be ready to drop at least $30 per person & that's a being conservative."

  • "The food was incredible! We started with the beef tartare served on a marrow bone and the blackened Brussels sprouts were superb. Entrees soft shell crab and the ribs were amazing as was the skirt steak pizza. Signature drink was vaodka with sage and simple syrup , very refreshing . Overall I would recommend this to anyone looking for a spectacular meal."

  • "Loved the eclectic vibe and service was fantastic. Ordered three dishes and all three were over salted. Loved the place, wine was delicious, but the seasoning killed the meal. Had the caviar meatballs, brussel sprouts and skirt steak special entrée. "

  • "I cannot rave about this place enough. We loved it so much we went back for brunch the next day. They combined two row houses and put together a great eclectic style. The ambiance is great. Our server Chuck was fantastic. He talked us through the whole menu and steered each of the party to exactly what we always knew we wanted. The food was outstanding - here's a rundown of what the table had: The kale salad, brussel sprouts and escargot steamed bun for starters. Entrees were the octopus, the fried chicken, the lamb pasta, and the meat stew. Again, all was heaven on earth. Not to mention the bread."

  • "Had a fantastic dinner at F&W last Saturday. Everything was spectacular, particularly the marrow appetizer which was a special but apparently going to be a regular menu item soon. FYI I've used Open Table for years and never wrote a review - this place was really special."
