  • "This was our first visit to Forbes Mill. We were celebrating my birthday and we were pleased with our choice. The food and service were first rate. My wife is a filet mignon lover, so she was impressed that they have multiple types of filet mignon on their menu. She ordered a pair of medallions, one grass fed and one corn fed. She enjoyed them both, and it was interesting to compare the difference in taste. My New York steak was also excellent. Our waiter was very attentive throughout the meal. He brought me a complimentary dessert (so, he knew which of us was having the birthday, a nice touch)."

  • "My wife and I have been rot Forbes Mill in Danville numerous times. It is always the place we go for great steaks and a nice time alone. The food is fantastic, always meticulously prepared and the wait staff perfect. Chef is excellent in prep and presentation. Few places can prepare a delicate dish like calamari, often over cooking but Forbes Mill's is excellent -- as is everything they prepare."

  • "I eat here once a month and always get the same thing, the 20oz prime rib. Yummy! This is a 4" thick slab of the best prime rib ever! Not exactly sure cut I think they salt crust it when roasting then break off the crust after. Slightly herbacious and seriously juicy. It comes with broccolini and mashed potatoes. Only $28 and at that it's a bargain. That's a pound and a quarter my. carnivore buddies! I can finish it and I'm a 6'3" 240 pound dude. Service is EXCELLENT and the tables are spaced nicely so you're not packed in like Piatti or other venues. That helps the noise level immensely."

  • "We've been to their other location in Los Gatos and we love that place, so we wanted to try their location here in Danville when we were in the area. Great choice! Awesome prime filet. And I had it with the augrautin potatoes that were the best. These guys do them right. Perfect! If you're looking for the best, look no further. They are what dreams are made of. We finished with a delightful chocolate lava cake, which my wife and I place in our top two we've ever had. Pretty outstanding!"

  • "It took 15 minutes just to get a glass of water. Bread was never served, even though we asked. Water glass was never refilled, server walked by several times with water pitcher. Candle on the table burned out, nobody cared. Dessert menus were delivered to the table and picked up without server asking if we wanted the order one. We felt like the invisible couple!"

  • "We went to celebrate two birthdays. It was a Monday night - so not too busy. We've been there a few times and this past time was particularly enjoyable I think in part because we were not being rushed to turn our table over to the next diners. All courses were served with just the right amount of spacing in between. Appetizers were excellent, salads not too big, and the steaks were excellent and cooked to perfection."

  • "I have been here too many times for the service delivered today - maybe 30 times. I requested a large booth, (seats 4) for the 3 of us and while one in our party arrived 20 minutes early she was told the booths were all taken. She was also told I had not requested a booth when I made the reservation? We had only marginal service until at one point, the manager came over and told us one of the salads we had ordered could not be made until the chef that knew how to make it returned to the premisis so it would be a bit longer. We ended up changing the order to something more managable for the kitchen. In/out, 2 hrs for a lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Not good for those of us who work. I like it but really can't find a good excuse for today."

  • "If you want a good lunch try Forbes Mill. The food is very good ( especially the rib eye sandwich ) and always more that one can eat. So you also get nibbles later. They are most willing to sub out an item for another ( like veggies or salad for fries ) For a group they are willing to give separate checks. I recommend this restaurant for a pleasant lunch."

I did ask for more as it was apparent that I was slighted compared to the other diners with me. Lastly, the happy hour prices are only in effect in the bar area, even though we ate at 5:30. We had to look around for our waiter from the start to get service."

  • "We had been to Forbes Mills before, and go there from time to time for special occasions. I was actually surprised to get a reservation on Valentine's night, but thanks to open table we did. We went early and hung out at the bar until our table was ready. They were backed up on reservations, but still managed to get us seated even a little earlier than our reservation time. Our waitress and all the wait staff were very attentive. The food came out in an acceptable time frame and was excellent as usual. The only ding was I had ordered my steak medium rare and got it well done, it was still very delicious. Will definitely return to Forbes Mills. It was all in all a great Valentine's night for my wife and I."

The salads we had were the wedge another WOW, my wife had the beet salad double WOW, I had the new york steak and my wife the filet,the steaks were hands down the best we have ever eaten and we have been to all the steak houses around and in the city including Mortons The service was spot on timing of courses perfect,I cannot wait to bring my family back so they can enjoy the place as we have..."

  • "We had high hopes for this highly recommended restaurant but left disappointed. The service was excellent, probably the highlight of the evening. The food was sub par; an utter disappointment. The ceasar salad I ordered was a plate full of chopped yellow/white romaine base stalk saturated in dressing; not a speck of green. I sent it back. The bread was noticeably stale. I ordered the Pre Fixe Trio for my entrée. The steak was cooked beautifully. The pasta was overcooked (mushy) and drenched in sauce. The pork chop was overdone and extremely tough. We did not dare order dessert. The bill came with a hefty balance adding insult to injury. It's one thing to have a poor restaurant experience. Yet quite another to pay nearly $200 for it."

  • "Forbes Mill was SO LOUD that we could barely hear each other talk and often throughout the meal had to ask to have things repeated. The 'wine list' was handed to us on an ipad, with no explanation as to how we should be ordering it...as tech savvy as we are, we found it difficult to navigate, and hard to find what we wanted. The waiter was really not much help in that regard. The steak was very good however...but I doubt we would want to go back. Also, for the prices, to have TV's on in the bar seemed really out of place, and distracting as my seat was facing that direction."
