Foragers brings clean and ethical food of the highest quality to our customers by shortening the distance between farm and fork. We believe that it is worth going the extra mile to find foods that are healthy for human, animal, and land. We do so by bringing in many local products on our own distribution truck that delivers the best of the Hudson Valley weekly. We also grow our own vegetables and raise laying hens for eggs at our market garden in upstate New York. Since we opened in 2005, we have found many incredible people and products!   • "Quiet in a rainy Thursday night before the 4th of July weekend. Seated immediately next to the huge windows for 7:30 reservation. Service and food excellent, fresh and creative. Deviled eggs to die for, fabulous eggplant dip. Sea bass succulent, but crab appetizer disappointing only because it was so minuscule. Desserts superior. Will definitely return often."

Our food was delicious, it tasted so fresh and we were impressed that is was so healthy and we felt like we were eating sanely. One way we judge good quality is would we come back? In a heartbeat!"

  • "I've eaten here several times now and each time is memorable. The food is so fresh tasting and perfectly prepared and plated (although chasing a tempura soft shell crab around a steeply pitched bowl is a little more challenging that it needs to be). The wait staff is always helpful and enthusiastic. I always suggest Foragers when I want to be certain that my friends will be pleased."

  • "Work near here and have had dinner and drinks here quite a few times. Always good food and reliable service. Came for brunch and it was a different story. Not many brunch menu options, food wasn't great and the waiter was not interested on being a water. Definitely not worth repeating for brunch. Food in the market part is still reliable, so take-out may be a better option."

  • "did the tasting menu with my guest and we ordered starters as well. I loved the eggplant dip, he was less impressed with the deviled eggs, but i loved the salad i had and he enjoyed his nettle soup. both entrees, the salmon and chicken were quite flavorful and decent portion sizes. curious blend of flavors for the desserts but somehow it worked (even if my guest did complain that the brittle that accompanied his maple pot de creme dessert was too sticky), i quite enjoyed it."

  • "I've been several times now and it's always fantastic. The food, ambiance, staff are all top notch. Don't overlook the small bar in the dining area, the special cocktails are all marvelous and a great accompaniment to the meal. I always do wine by the glass to accompany each coarse and there are plenty of good selections. Sit at the chef's table, watch the magic and chat with the chef. Buy your next day's picnic supplies at the market attached to the restaurant. Delightful."

  • "This was delicious and fresh, which I consider "San Francisco quality". I had the pasta, husband had the King Crab salad, our daughter had a couple of salads. Drinks all good, service excellent. We arrived 15 minutes early for a 6:00 PM reservation and they refused to seat us until 15 minutes AFTER 6:00 and there is nowhere to sit down. So we browsed the grocery store. The grocery store reminded us (as frequently happens) how lucky we are to live in California and eat the produce there. Punctuality is not rewarded here. "

  • "Always have trouble finding great places to eat by where my son works in Chelsea. This was the perfect place. Laid back with a cool vibe and love the farm to table freshness of everything. They make very unusual choices of spices but it works well. They were super attentive and hospitable. Arrived early and my son was late so they made sure I was taken care of while I waited."

  • "Love the way this restaurant is attached to a fabulous market and has amazing take out options. If I lived nearby and cod afford it I would eat food from Foragers as often as possible. I may prefer it as takeaway as I don't care that much for the dining room. It seems nicest when empty but often it is busy and can feel crowded. Worth it for the Foragers Farm salad, simply perfection!"

  • "Took my wife here for Mother's Day. We were seated next to the wall-size plate glass window, which is nice on a sunny day. The restaurant was full, but service was friendly and quick. Food -- split an omelette and a wrap, both with DELICIOUS potatoes -- was very good. The one off note was finding a long hair in my Bloody Mary, though that drink was replaced quickly."

  • "The roast chicken entree consisted of two small pieces of chicken, one of which was so dry it was inedible. A thimbleful of veg accompanied it. Sauce was delicious but so what. So I sent it back and went hungry. They did nothing to address replacing my plate. They just took it off the bill. Wine pours were incredibly stingy. My guest had the veg plate and said there was also a thimble of quinoa on her plate. The appetizer special was excellent - all vegetarian- at $25, pretty steep for what is still a neighborhood restaurant. At that price we could have had foie gras somewhere else. I won't be back."

  • "Always looking for new restaurants for our annual trip weekend to New York. Foragers City Table was the best discovery in a long time. Had brunch on a Saturday. Everything we had was great, especially the pancakes. Each item had something special about it, separating it from other restaurants. Definitely going back. We're interested in trying dinner there. Make sure you have a reservation."

  • "It was our third time there with our family. Quality and presentation of the food is . We took the tasting menu and we were very pleased by the quality of the ingredients and the food presentation. Portions are not huge but you don't feel hungry after leaving the restaurant. The salmon was perfectly cooked and quinoa and kale were tasty. So were the chicken with the creamy polenta. The wine list is fair and prices are not disproportionate. Very good quality price ratio ! Service was very good without being too intrusive. We'll come back ! "

  • "I made a reservation for 6 at 2:15. My group was taken to a table right away, but the server was rude and seemingly only interested in ending his shift. We were rushed to place our order. The server seemed upset that two women in the group chose to drink water after being informed that there was no more green juice available. We were presented with the check before we were finished eating and informed that the kitchen closed 5 minutes after we arrived. The food was good, but if the kitchen closes at 2:20, perhaps the last reservation allowed should be earlier. "

  • "I had brunch at Foragers and all I can say is WOW!! The eggs were the freshest I've ever had in my life!! They were so good, I didn't put salt or pepper on them, and I ALWAYS put salt and pepper on my eggs. The rosemary potatoes were delicious and the bacon was outstanding.   • "Perfunctory service mars the experience. The food is good, not great, overpriced compared to other comparable spots. The waiter asked if we had any questions about the menu. We asked and he didn't know the answer. Coming back later, he asked again, but had completely forgotten our original question. Don't ask if we have questions unless you are prepared to answer them or at least return with an answer."

  • "I enjoyed dining here and the food was lovely but the portions were way too small for the prices. My husband got the duck breast entree that only came with 4 tiny slices of duck breast. I had the steak special which was really delicious but for $38 would have expected a much larger cut and the cauliflower soup was also on the small side. On the other hand, another person in our party got the salad and chicken entree both of which were of a nice size, so it depends on what you order I guess."

  • "This restaurant is a real find. It's attached to a grocery store with the most beautiful produce and groceries, so you know the ingredients are going to be good. All the dishes we tried made the best use of what was available from the local farms. The ingredients are allowed to shine, while being handled with just enough skill and craft to make the best of them. This restaurant was the only one we ate in in an entire week that came close to what we're accustomed to in San Francisco. "

The service people are knowledgable, helpful, friendly and attentive. Just go there when it is emptier--if it every is. "

  • "The food made us forget the initially off putting noise and crowdedness -- vibrant flavors drawn from ingredients like quinoa, kale, etc., plus proteins including duck, pork, and fish. Greens were perfectly dressed so a to leave them crisp and fresh-tasting and a cauliflower soup was richly satisfying."

  • "We were, as far as I know, some of the first to eat at this neighborhood restaurant, when it first began serving dinner. The first few week it was open we went almost each evening. The food was and is outstanding! The only complaint I would venture is that a few of the waitresses seem unfocused--friendly and polite but definitely not tuned in! Overall we think this is the best restaurant in our neighborhood. "

  • "A cute spot - but i expected more after write ups in NYT and NYer. The salmon main course was scraps of salmon instead of one piece, so all were cooked to different doneness - most overcooked. A $27 appetizer of asparagus, prosciutto and poached egg had blobs of barely cooked whites instead of a runny perfectly poached egg and there was so much going on on the plate in the dim light you couldn't tell what was what. A morel mushroom looked like a dollop of whole grain mustard. The hamachi in the appetizer was coated in a soy sauce mixture which masked the clean taste of perfectly fresh sushi. Overall the dishes tasted good, but not as pure and fresh as expected from "farm to table" where ingredients should shine."
