forageDelicious and Healthy!Great menu, really enjoyed every item we tried, and service was attentive and pleasant. I would certainly come back again or recommend it to friends. Loved the squash pierogies!12/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeWent for Sunday brunch. I had a classic eggs/sausage breakfast which was good but the coffee and jam were amazing.
The hostess seemed irritated and grumpy which made us laugh. A stern critic might fault this. The waiters are very attentive and have good attention to detail. They're personable. They aren't just kids with a summer job, but grown men who take pride in the menu and their jobs.
I'll be back, absolutely.7/4/2013 12:00:00 AMForage Fit For Foodies!!!For anyone deliberating on whether or not to eat here.... Do it!! We tried hard to find a bite we didn't like - it was impossible! Love the concept, love the tastes, love the service! The only (minor) downside is that because it is located in a hotel we were mistaken for tourists. Other than that you do not feel like you are in a hotel restaurant - in fact, if it were a standalone they would probably charge more!! Service was wonderful, great recommendations and follow up.
Local eating is getting increasingly popular and these guys are ahead of the curve! I've already recommended this place to strangers outside looking in as well as great friends - and I'm planning on returning soon!!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat eveningI went to Forage for the first time on the weekend and had a great experience. The staff was superb and the food was delicious. It is exciting to have such a great spot in the West End. I will be going back again to try brunch very soon.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMdining on Robson StreetMy party of six really enjoyed our birthday dinner at the Forage the mushrooms with goat cheese was incredibly good and the popcorn was to die for...wine list was interesting but I do think they should offer some French wines...spot prawns where a tiny bit over cooked but the perogies where the best I have ever had. Service was outstanding you could tell that the staff enjoying working in this restaurant....I will gladly return to dine at Forage in the near future6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTwo meals in a row!My husband and I greatly looked forward to dining at Forgae when we traveled to Vancouver from Los Angeles. We were not disappointed and enjoyed a phenomenal dinner, excellent wines and beers and decided to return for breakfast the next morning. The design is beautiful and we lived the little touches incorporating nature and natural elements. The food was delicious. I had the pork cutlet which was tasty and filling. My husband had the tuna and loved it. Both were booked to reflection, however the appetizer of pan bread with gruyere and spicy honey rocked our world!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMInnovative, fresh, flavorfulInnovative, fresh, flavorful food, nicely presented. The small-plates approach allows you to try a variety of dishes.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service withGreat food and service with a very nice relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely come back to try more dishes.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was different and veryFood was different and very tasty. Some reviews said we would not have enough to eat, but I totally disagree. Service was excellent.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my greatest exlerienceThis was my greatest exlerience over last few months looking for a great healthy food thats made from scratch with freshest ingredients!
Staffs were extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
More than anything food was extraordinary and delicious!
Highly recommended! Will return for sure!!^^6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMDining ExperienceThe food was amazing and the wait staff were very knowledgeable on both the food and pairings with wine. It was fun to eat somewhere that only cooks with local ingredients.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFound ForagingA real treat. Lots of original BC dishes, great for sharing and tasting. All of us loved the prawn chowder. Notable beer list — not everyone's an oenophile. Very relaxed friendly atmosphere for all ages. Even at 10:00 on a Sunday night, lots of people gathered at the bar snacking and chatting. Not at all rowdy. Saw a few women dining alone. Locals? Tourists? Don't know but obviously a comfortable place to dine alone.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEating localWe enjoyed the fresh and limited menu and tried most of things it included. All very nicely prepared - loved the creamy nettle pesto risotto with just the right amount of brie.
Will return in a different season to see how the menu shifts.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA unique experienceWe had been to O'Doul's -- the restaurant Forage replaced -- several times and really liked it. But while O'Doul's was good, Forage is unique because of the menu. We will go back, and suggest you try it, too.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time Forage voyage...Met some girlfriends as Forage for brunch on Sunday. What a change from O'Douls! The space is a lot smaller but with windows lining the length of the restauant, helped make it seem bigger than what it was. The new decor was a nice simple modern change from the old, dark restaurant that was there before. Our waiter was fantastic, easy going and very accommodating.
Now the food! Even before we tasted our meals we already decided we had to return. Their burger was delivered to a customer at the bar and we all looked at each other with regret of what we ordered. The size of the meals were perfect. The quality and price, you couldn't beat it.
We, especially I, will return very soon.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMHelpfulAs a Celiac, I found they the waitress very helpful in my selection of meal. She brought me GF toast for the tasty mushroom starter, and modified a delicious burger for the main course. My daughter enjoyed "lick your plate clean" halibut cheeks, and our Japanese guest was given a plate in order to be able to politely handle his un-modified burger.
I would be happy to return!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentReally unique high quality food. Exceptional service.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst Forage Foray! If you're like me and you have a hard time deciding what to order, Forage is perfect for you. All their dishes are made to share which allows for a wonderfully social dining experience. The atmosphere was a very clean and modern spin on an earthy rustic feel. From the wood furniture, the moss "candles", and even the little stone placed on the cheque at the end of the night, you will definitely get the natural connection to their principle of local, sustainable food. However, I felt the "Top 40" music took away from the atmosphere. The service from our waiter was fabulous, but the other woman who brought some of our dishes over was too quiet and spoke too fast for us to hear the explaination of their unique creations.
Check Forage out!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBusy for BrunchI went to forage for Mother's Day Brunch, and while the food was very good, I could tell that it was much busier than they were used to, and as such, the service suffered a little. We had to wait a bit to be seated and a few more minutes to be greeted by our server. The food was delivered very quickly, but we had to ask at the bar for salt and pepper and jam for toast as our server wasn't visible. But seriously, the food was really good! I loved the artisan feel and the emphasis on local ingredients. I would definitely come back on a day that isn't a holiday-type event.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat brunch better serviceThis place was lovely. Went for brunch on mother's day and will be back again for sure. Best service I had ever.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEgg-zactly What We Needed! My Turkey Sausage Hash with root vegetables was delicious! My brother's Benny was decent but a little small. My Mother had the Pumpkin Brioche French Toast which was just ok. We thought the broiche was actually pumpkin but it wasn't, not that we could taste anyway.. there was merely a smear of pumpkin puree on the plate. It was still yummy but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall the experience was great. Service was good, staff were friendly and the food was tasty. We will be back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AM2 Thumbs Up: Sustainability & LocalI was impressed and inspired ( and comfortably full! ) after dining at the Forage for dinner with friends the other evening. We were welcomed and accommodated even though we were over an hour early for our reservations. The concept of sharing provided the opportunity to try unique dishes and the belief in sustainability and local ingredients align with my beliefs. I appreciated the beverage options and felt good about the 100% charitable donation of the filtered water served.
Lastly, the service was outstanding! Forage is my new favourite restaurant!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNot to be missed.Simply a great place. Fantastic, interesting food, attentive service, excellent beer and wine v5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMy Husband and I come to VancouverMy Husband and I come to Vancouver pretty much once a month. We both love this restaurant and have come there with clients, friends, kids, and now family. I recently came to Vancouver with my sister in laws and mother in law to celebrate her 70th birthday. I really wanted to bring the family to our "favourite" restaurant. It was amazing and the ladies are still talking about the dinner experience. Thank you so much for the awesome food, service and consistency.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came with a group of friends. We came with a group of friends. We all loved it! Food was great for sharing, everything was delicious. Have already recommended it to a few other people.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal. This restaurant is what's been missing from the Vancouver dining scene. Phenomenal food and service, without any pretension and with a very reasonable pricetag. I couldn't have had a better experience. Will be back!2/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
