  • "A great experience- one I look forward to having again. I had the Octopus- never had it but the server suggested it and I am glad I did. It was different than anticipated but very nicely done!"

  • "It is rare that a hotel restaurant can reach the superb category. On a Saturday evening during tourist season we still had outstanding food, service and ambience. As one who travels throughout Eastern Europe, when a Mediterranean restaurant serves grilled octopus on a plank that has been tenderized to and grilled to perfection, one knows that care has been taken in the food selection and preparation. Likewise, the plentiful seafood salad, the bollonaise as well as the seafood and asparagus risotto made us feel as if we were dining in the café in Florence or Rome. Despite being busy, the service was professional and attentive, and every request was promptly filled."

  • "The Fontana is a beautifullllllll restaurant, with truly great service. The wine was great, and I am not sure if we had bad luck with the entree, but they were not great (raviolis and papardella). The dessert was good, but nothing special on the menu (chocolate volcano with vanilla ice cream). I would recommend the restaurant based on the place, the ambience is great and the service too."

  • "Always the best food and service! We love the place and the people~ Terrific, fresh, healthly, and authentic."

  • "The food was basically decent. Our entrees were delivered moments after they delivered our salad which turned me off totally. The wine list is overly expensive. The ambience was very good but that is about all. I won't go back."

  • "My daughter and I dined in the outside courtyard by the fountain. The surroundings were exquisite. We both had a drink from their specialty cocktail menu and they were delicious . We shared the calamari appetizer which was perfectly prepared and we each had a pasta dish. The food was very good as was the service. I plan to return the next time I'm in town."

  • "The overall experience was fantastic, but the service was a bit slow. It took a longer than expected time for our waiter to attend to us. We have dined here before and have always had a warm reception, excellent meal and experience."

  • "The setting is magical but the food is really uninspired, tasteless and way too expensive for second rate food. We wanted to love it but out of a party of 6 people, out for a birthday, in great moods, there was not one of us who enjoyed their food! Would never go back."

  • "Everything was very nice except for the music that came from rooms they rent for weddings upstairs ,there were 3 or 4 of them,it was impossible even to talk, big disappointment."

  • "Our second time at Fontana was not as good as the first, but still was a nice experience. The setting on a warm Florida evening can't be beat for a soothing, enjoyable evening. Tuna tartara was very good, traditional style. The porchetta salad was a disappointment and changes requested did not come. GF pasta is a plus."

  • "Always great good and equally superb service! One of Miami's culinary gems!"

  • "Outdoor dining in a courtyard with a beautiful central fountain. Delicious ricotta cheese stuffed squash blossoma & very good homemade pastas.Wide variety of Italian food. The price fixed dinner is a good value.I would recommend the restaurant for the atmosphere alone but the food is good as well Give it a try."

  • "The setting is pretty but the service was awful from the staff that we asked to bring the heat lamp over to our table to the head waiter! It took 40 minutes to actually receive our appetizers and 1 hour to get he heat lamps to our table! Another 40 minutes to receive our main course thereafter with nobody coming around to see if we needed anything! We had to call someone else over to actually order more wine! Food is good but the service made it impossible to recommend this restaurant!"

  • "The food at Fontana was very good- I had the special menu which included appetizer, entree and dessert and it was really tasty. The stuffed zucchini blossoms were amazing! The ricotta just melted in your mouth. My entree was tuna steak on brussel sprouts- another melt in your mouth delight. By the time I got to the blood orange sorbet, I was stuffed, but it was still a taste treat. My Pinot noir was also very good. I can't wait to go back. The server was very attentive too!"

  • "I took my fiancee here for Valentine's Day lunch and we had an amazing meal. Everything from the appetizers to dessert were completely amazing. I had the parpardelle with the bolognese sauce and it was the best I've ever had by leaps and bounds. She had the tortellini with homemade cream sauce. Then for dessert, we split the profiteroles. I must say that this was as close to a perfect lunch as you can get. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "While normal hotel food and ambiance may be out of the ordinary, Fontana at the Biltmore is beyond any institutional normalcy. The food and surroundings are one of a kind and are the epidome of South Florida hospitality. To enjoy fine Italian cuising in the most unique suroundings is aral treat."

  • "This is one of the most beautiful locations in Coral Gables to have dinner. We were celebrating my Mom's birthday. We did suffer some small glitches. My sister's roasted chicken was mixed up and she got chicken parmesan. It took a long while before she got her entree. We requested another bread basket and that also dropped out of the radar until almost the end of the meal. But the staff did redeem themselves by offering a glass of wine for my sister to enjoy and presented my Mom with a lovely bowl of gelato lit with candles and a handmade birthday card. No place is perfect but it was those little touches that we appreciated and we will return."

  • "Our guests from the north enjoyed the opportunity to dine outdoor. The heaters kept us quite warm. Sicilian 3-course special menu provide lots of new choices for regular diners. Stuffed zucchini blossoms was a great starter."

  • "The architecture of the Biltmore alone is something that should be seen....traditional Mediterranean at its best. The food was very good but salad which was described as having Gorgonzola and pears at first came without. We told the waiter, who said the kitchen said this description was from an old menu and the sliced pears and freshly sliced gongonzola--- an excellent one, were promptly served, making for a very good salad. I had the Osso Bucco, which was very good, and my wife had short ribs and she was also pleased. Ambience for dinner is romantic, but courtyard area could use a few extra touches. Great place for outdoor dining although we did so in 61 degree weather. Propane heaters helped a great deal. We'd definitely like to return."

  • "A bad bottle of wine, pasta undercooked, these are the things that can ruin a meal. What makes the difference is service. When we tasted the wine, the bottle was plainly bad. The staff, without hesitation whisked it away and gave us another which was very good. (No questions asked). The pasta (we thought) was undercooked. Again, without hesitation, it was replaced quietly and efficiently and the difference was noticeable. Sometimes diners like things differently than the way they're prepared. The remainder of the meal was wonderful. The staff of Fontana has learned that what makes the difference is S-E-R-V-I-C-E. Congratulations, Fontana, I'll be back."

  • "Great place! The fountain, in the middle of the patio, gives a romantic ambiance, unique in Miami. The dimmed lights, almost all from candles, also contribute to the romantic atmosphere."

  • "We are visiting from UK. I had visited the Biltmore Hotel before and wanted my family to see the beautiful setting. I booked the Fontana for a New Years Day dinner. We were celebrating the engagement of our two sons to their respective fiancées. Everyone was impressed immediately by the ambience. Our waiters were attentive without being obtrusive. We were given as much time as we required, yet never felt we needed to wait for service. The food was superb. Whilst basically Italian themed, the menu was imaginative and fresh. The portions were large without being over facing. The wine list was extensive and had good affordable wines as well as very special wines. We left with a determination to return on another trip to Miami."

  • "Fixe-price menu was a total rip off at $95.00 per person. Choice of course was inadequate for the price. Dessert was ordinary. Pastas just okay. Sorry that we took our doctor there!"

  • "My Fiance and I dined at Fontana on a beautiful full-moon evening. We had been there before and loved the outdoor atmosphere and the service and the food. This time, however, the food was well below par. We ordered from the Taste of Italy price fixed menu at $39.00 per person without wine charges. While the menu offerings sounded delectible it seemed to us that they were pre-prepared and reheated and simply BLAH. This is a great place to order a bottle of wine, a dessert, a coffee and sit in a very romantic atmosphere...Cannot be beat for this purpose but stay away from the food!"

  • "Reservation was at 8:30pm Thanksgiving evening. Walking in the courtyard was the highlight of the evening, it was downhill from there. Waiter was awful, could not get the drink orders correct so I walked to the bar and got the right drinks. Strike one. Next we ordered off the menu…salad was good but then the turkey entree was horrific. It was processed turkey breast. To make matters worse there was a hardboiled egg on the center of the Publix brand processed turkey! Why? No idea…strike 2. Manager brings replacement entree, its COLD. Thanskgiving officially cancelled. Ended up eating a salad, good salad but come on. Last was dessert…they ran out, strike 8! Will have two Thanksgiving meals next year, just not here. Worst meal ever."

  • "Courtyard has no traffic nearby, no pedestrians walking near your table. There is some music noise from parties in the hotel that may not be your taste of music. Portions are generous. We greatly enjoyed the dining experience."
