A word from Fondue Cowboy
Located in San Francisco's SOMA district Fondue Cowboy is where you will find the non traditional fondue experience. They keep things untamed and wild with their fondue offerings. It's a great place to enjoy something new and unique. Come lounge in a cozy inviting space and watch Western movies
while you indulge.

WOW, I must say - this is one of
the best local SoMA establishments [or perhaps even all of SF? Scratch that. It's the best in California] for a unique, personalized dining experience. Unique doesn't come cheap but it's worth it - this is by far one of our fav's - every fondue house in unique, but this one takes it to another level. The mixture of a cowboy themed fondue place may not seem like the best combo when it first comes to mind but believe it or not it's probably the best fondue outside of Switzerland herself. Harder to get in during evening hours so I recommend openTable is the best way to get a seat."

The waitress was extremely
friendly. The food is really really (...) really good. The place is convenient for small party. Otherwise make a reservation! If you want to take a date there, don't hesitate, the atmosphere is great!"

Great food and who can deny the
fun of fondue? Great selection of veggie items to dip come standard, and were more than enough for our party of three. We will be back."

I love going here. The Buckeroo is
amazing and I would go and just eat dessert! I definitely recommend this place to anyone who desires a fun, but still classy restaurant!"

Don'teave without trying the milk

Actually, we WERE rushed. I
totally get that this place is small and we were a big party. As soon as we paid, they literally kicked us out. The bar was empty, so the smart thing to do was to offer the bar to us -- they could have made more money on drinks! That said, the fondue options are decent -- we tried them all. The steak pieces are a disappointing. They look like chipotle diced meat!! I dislike reviews that are just one sided and negative, so let me end my review by saying if you plan to go, go as a pair or as a group of 4 max. Make sure you get the chili chocolate fondue for dessert. Overall, you will enjoy the options and you will leave the place with a full stomach. :-)"

We had reservations for a Tuesday
night which was totally unnecessary. The vibe was laid back with a touch of modern cowboy. Service was good and suggestions that were made seemed genuine. Traditional and Cowboy fondues were awesome! The dark chocolate dessert fondue was also a nice way to finish off the meal. Happy bellies were had all around."

We were visiting San Francisco
from LA, and our foodie friends recommended Fondue Cowboy. So glad they did! It was romantic, delicious, and super-friendly staff. It was a bit of a dodgy walk to get to this place from our hotel, so we ended up taking a cab home. However, once inside, you feel a million miles away from the "transitional" neighborhood that surrounds it. We definitely plan to go back the next time we are in town."

If you're looking for Cowboy looks
and Swiss delights then look no further. This cowboy themed cutie delivers just what the Rodeo ordered. The portions aren't cowboy in size but you'll leave full without emptying your wallet. The restaurant is small so I'd suggest getting a reservation (hence.. why you're here) but they aren't small on service. There are only a few negatives if you're looking for your standard darkly lit Fondue joint with plenty of privacy this might not be the place for you but if you love great fondue, great service and a unique spin on cheese and chocolate then you'll need to book your next date here."

The portion of the fondues are SO
small !!! We usually count between 0.44 to 0.66 pounds per person for the cheese. The chocolate fondue could be bigger too, even if it is a desert. However, both taste very good !"

Went for a bday celebration. Food
was ok but was told after 1 hour that we needs to hurry up and finish because they had other reservations. We had planned to have a long meal and hang out because we had all driven a long way to meet and don't get to see each other often. They were rude To us and would not accommodate our request to sit and leisurely enjoy our meal. Then they wound up not having people show up for the reservations and there was plenty if room in the restaurant when we left. Overall I thought there were better ways to handle the service. The food was not memorable and the ambiance was ok. I would not I back to this restaurant."

This place has really good fondue
and salads. I can't do fondue all the time, but when I'm in the mood, this place is perfect!"

Group of 6 for dinner. Loved the
restaurant. Awesome atmosphere. The owner was our waiter and he was so gracious and personable. Dinner was amazing and dessert… Wow! Loved it!"

Very enjoyable. I chose the
restaurant for an interactive meal with my teenage kids, they found it engaging and hip. We selected a more basic meal that they offered as our foundation for my picky eater then added sides that my more adventurous eater requested. It was not overly priced, for the quantity and we found our hunger more then satisfied. If you enjoy small bites, small flavor tasting and sharing, I would recommend this restaurant."

What a find! This place is a
smartly designed to make use of a small space. The decor is subtle, effective and clever. The star of the night had to be a combination of the service and excellent fondue choices. Always thoughtful and attentive to your needs, the staff provides unsurpassed customer service. We tried two different savory cheese fondues. The traditional and one that was Gorgonzola-based - WINNER! So good! I have had fondue many times before but these guys truly had the perfect consistency and taste down. I must get. We finished our experience with the milk chocolate and walnuts fondue. Truly, we had to fight each other for the last bit. We will be back many times to come. Enjoy!"

My husband & I have been here
twice and both times we have had a good experience. The food is good. We always get a glass of wine on tap and a sausage plate to go with the fondue. Both times there was a large group and the restaurant was lively."

Fondue Cowboy is a great spot for
a couple people or a large group. We celebrated a birthday here with a party of 12. Fondue w/a big group was festive & fun. The fondue was delicious (I love the Rawhide) and the salads were great too. Very fun ambiance. I highly recommend Fondue Cowboy!"

Waaaayyy to expensive for small
sized average fondue The restaurant would be fine at half the price"

Great place to relax for dinner.
The tenderloin was melt in your mouth good."

I brought my new work team here
for dinner and it was a great place to bond and build relationships. We all enjoyed the food and interacted well together. Everyone felt so relaxed and happy I was able to convince them to go out to karaoke later."

I set up a reservation a month
ahead to celebrate our 1-year anniversary and requested a side-table. Of course, we got sat right smack in the middle. It was not intimate. The service was OK --- there were a few times where I stopped eating because I was thirsty. Fondue was OK (guess that's why it was not priced as high as other fondue spots). Not sure why there wasn't much variety. Overall OK experience... wish we went elsewhere to celebrate. Pass for now.. probably will never come back."

I have been to fondue cowboy twice
now, both times the food had been absolutely delicious! The waitstaff is super friendly and helpful if you have a question about the menu. Both times I have sat next to a large group so it has been quite noisy, but it's to be expected with a smaller spot like fondue cowboy. Overall I will definitely be going again and I would absolutely recommend it to a friend!"

We had a great group dinner for 14
on Sunday night. The venue is small, but if you are able to grab a larger reservation on a weekday night, it's a great place for a social group gathering. The fondue is excellent, particularly the chocolate dessert. Highly recommended!"

I went for my 2 year Anniversary
with my boyfriend and we had an amazing time! The Fondue was beyond good and we had an excellent. Our waitress was attentive and sweet and recommended a great bottle of Merlot to go with our dinner. I would absolutely go again. If you like classy, cozy dining and good food and drinks, the Fondue Cowboy is a must."

This is hands down my favorite
restaurant in San Francisco and I go whenever I have an excuse - most recently, my husband and I met my parents there for my 30th birthday. The food is delicious and the ambiance is great. My favorite fondue dish is the Outlaw. Great for vegetarians, but meatlovers can spring for the sirloin plate. Dark chocolate fondue dessert with a dash cayenne pepper - can't be beat."

I expected a nice restaurant after
I couldn't get a reservation for 2 days. We arrived and I saw a grungy bar type enviroment. Not appealing at all. Only one other party there. What happened to the no seats available baloney? The food was sparse, the prices high and overall I will never return. The seats were very uncomfortable. No backs to the seats. it made for a not so pleasant back experience. Upside was the waiter. Very friendly, very eager to make sure we were happy. Otherwise a forgetful experience."

We got in to San Francisco late
and were staying at the Intercontinental by the convention center and wanted a place close by. This was a pleasant surprise. The fondu, salad and cured meats were all delicious, and the wine matched perfectly. It was not crowded on a late Thursday night and we really enjoyed ourselves."

back with a group next time."

Great place ! Bring friends an
share a fondue pot !"
Dined on 8/30/2013
This place left me wanting more
with a name like Fondue Cowboy. It looked like your standard new modern restaurant with IKEA wear around. Nothing special here. The fondue came out in a simple pot with the top of the cheese already coagulated. The cowboy theme is only in the name. I wouldn't make a special trip here, but if you are in the neighborhood in the mood for some overpriced melted cheese, stop in."
Dined on 8/28/2013
We had an excellent meal here.
Most importantly, they were willing to adjust the fondue mixes to our taste. The cheese fondues were good and we liked the fact that they were not too thick. In addition to the bread, fruit and veggies that come with the cheese fondue, we ordered the grilled beef. The beef was very tender and flavorful, so it was a good addition. We also had salads, which come in personal or large (for sharing) size. My only complaint would be that the beet salad was a bit shy on beets. We finished with the dark chocolate fondue, which was excellent. This is a very small restaurant, six tables and a 12-person bar (at which food is served), so reservations are essential during busy periods. Service was good and friendly."

We had a wonderful time at Fondue
Cowboy! The fondue was great and all of the dipping options were fun. There was just two of us having a romantic-type dinner and off to our side was a group having a great time as well. I recommend it for any occasion. We had a cheese fondue, a delicious salad and the chocolate fondue for dessert--all accompanied by a great wine list."
Dined on 8/11/2013
All in all we enjoyed our
experience at Fondue Cowboy. The food was decent and the staff very good. The only negative thing that was mentioned with our group was the painful seating."
Dined on 8/10/2013
I would definitely come back. Nice
ambiance inside and attentive but not intrusive service. We went on a Wednesday night and the place was quiet. The cheddar based fondue was great, and with a side of hot links we had a filling meal. The restaurant has a small beer list, but they're all good. I would definitely go back."

Staff was very friendly, but the
food was not very impressive."
Dined on 7/27/2013
We went as a group of 10 and
shared fondues. We all agreed that they were delicious! The restaurant is small , so we pretty much took it over on a Tuesday night. Service was attentive and friendly."
Dined on 7/17/2013
Ohhhh yeah! I liked this place A
LOT. I am a big fan of fondue and this place did not disappoint. It should be noted that it's cheese and chocolate fondue only (no meat to dip in boiling oil) which is too bad, so the menu is very limited, but also very good. It should also be noted that it's extremely cheap. $25 for a cheese fondue plate (which is plenty of food for 2 people) $20 for chocolate fondue. I was there on a date. We got one of the cheese fondues, a side of sausage ($8 or $12 -- can't remember) and one of the chololate fondues for dessert. It was too much food -- we only got about halfway through dessert. $60 for a nice dinner for two.... can't beat that. 5 star overall score for value."

Great blends of fondue, many food
items for dipping (pickles, olives, broccoli, grapes, apples & bread)! -Guenevere"
