We had a lovely brunch with excellent service once we were seated. We arrived about ten minutes before our reservation and before 3 other members of our party. It was clear that a particular table was set for 5 and that was for us, but they would not seat us until the rest of our party arrived. Although that was annoying and seemed ridiculous to us, I would highly recommend Fonda.

I was a little disappointed. The Brooklyn location is simply not anywhere near as good as the lower east side location, which is excellent. Our margaritas were awful (too strong and too sweet - not enought lime juice), and the food was so-so. They need to get the staff from the LES location to come show them how to mix drinks and cook.

The only reason I am only giving 3 stars for food is that I must have ordered the wrong thing for brunch. I don't know Spanish, so maybe one of the ingredients was "hottest peppers in the world." Probably my fault, but it should have come with a warning. If I had taken any spice sensitive folks here, I would never be able to get them to step foot in a Mexican joint again. Probably a good place for what I'm guessing is "authentic" food? BF enjoyed his meal and we cooled off my mouth with tres leches...

Maybe my expectations were too high, but the food didn't bowl be over like I wanted it to. This is my second time dining at this restaurant, and I was hoping to be more impressed than the previous visit. I want to like it, but the quality of the food at that price point leaves much to be desired. On top of that, the layout is extremely cramped (I imagine it's due to Park Slope overhead costs - which is understandable - and the high demand - which is not understandable), resulting in a loud dining area. To their credit, they manage to keep it cozy rather than uncomfortably tight.

We came here for a dual birthday brunch and had a fabulous meal! The service was great, all five of us really enjoyed our food, and we each got a complementary mimosa! My only gripe is that it was a little warm in the restaurant, but otherwise we had a great experience. They even played Happy Birthday over the house stereo and brought us a birthday tres leches cake with 2 candles. Love Fonda!
