Diner Reviews
  • "Like always, Fogo was a delight to be at. While it was slightly loud, the noise died down after the usual dinner crowd left. Food just kept coming! WILL BE BACK!"

  • "An incredible experience for meat eaters. Service was excellent. The variety and quality of the meats could not be rivaled. The only caution, as expressed by our "gaucho" was to refrain from eating too much at the sumptuous salad bar so as to have insufficient room for the meats. The three side dishes of mashed potatoes, fried bananas, and a corn-cheese bread-like mixture were replenished and were delicious."

  • "I took my co-worker here for her birthday and she absolutely LOVED IT! She is EXTREMELY particular about food and often makes changes to ANYTHING she orders. She was so taken by the wide variety of the salad bar and drink list. When the meats began to arrive and the server provided her with how the system worked, she was absolutely FLOORED by the service she received. We have already talked of having a group there again soon!"

  • "Great place to take friends - IF they like meat! Although there is a delicious salad bar as well"

  • "We had a great time sampling all the meats at first, and then the Filet came out and it was like butter. The servers cut off generouse helpings and just kept on coming! Great night, well worth the price but be prepared for a meat coma followed by a beef hangover, also still wirth it."

  • "We went on lunch with a group of friends to celebrate a sport achievement. Excellent as always: food, waiters, ambiance. We paid around $60 each (we do not ask wine), but it was worthwhile."

  • "Went to Fogo de Chao twice this month. The first time was for my anniversary, and the second one was with a large group of friends. When I went there for my anniversary, I noted that it was my anniversary. Normally, a restaurant would bring out 2 glasses of champagne or give a dessert that says "happy anniversary" on it - they do something... a small gesture. Fogo de Chao did nothing. The second time, one of the servers spilled blood (meat juice) on my jacket. Another server washed it and removed the stain (thankfully!). However, Fogo de Chao did not offer anything. I feel like another restaurant would have... The bottom line is, while the meat is good, the service is very lacking."

  • "Open table reservation was not registrated Food is Great, saladbar is perfect and the meat is juicy. The fillers (mashed potato baked banana etc ) is To simple and unnecessary."

  • "One of the best salad bars and THE best selection of meat --- beef, lamb, pork, chicken --- cooked and served gaucho style. Outstanding service. Be sure to try the papaya cream dessert, which is delicious and also eases digestion."

  • "Having an anniversary dinner with my wife, but there was a slight mix-up; our daughter contacted the restaurant via e-mail and requested that they deliver a bottle of wine to our table. The message was viewed by the staff as we were getting ready to depart, so they were most apologetic and provided us with a complementary gift card for dinner for two and a bottle of wine. This is service at the highest level! The dining experience was excellent"

  • "Great food and great service. The location is wonderful and occupies the former Planet Hollywood Restaurant space on Pennsylvania Ave. NW with a view of the U.S. Capitol building and convenient to Metro Center (red/blue/orange lines)."

  • "It seems anytime I put a note w/my reservation about asking for a quiet tables due to one of my party's guests hearing disability, we get put in the noisiest of areas like it's some kind of joke. Service was great, food was what you'd expect but we were seated right at the beginning of the line for the salad bar and it got loud and not private at all. If the place was packed I'd understand but there were open tables all over the place. Other than that, it was a good experience from affordable valet, nice greeting by the hostess to the food and the team oriented service. The guy with the drink cart is pretty tricky about saying he thought we ordered 4 of the drinks when we only ordered one. He had made 3 by the time we stopped him."

  • "Any time my family comes into town, i'll take them here. While it specializes in meats, the "salad" bar is amazing! Excellent food, excellent service, and for all that you eat, the price isn't so bad. Highly recommend it!"

  • "Have not been here in a few years. Quality not as high as before. Salad bar not as impressive. Unfortunately, they are now using NZ lamb, so the lamb chops, which used to be the best in town, are not the same. We enjoyed our evening, but not quite as much as before."

  • "If you love beef without sauces and gravies and just want it to keep coming until you're completely satisfied this is the place to go! I love that it's simple but cooked so well. It's just flat out good. One side note besides just the meat I'm in love with the scalloped potatoes on the hot bar. If I wasn't saving room for all of the meat I would have definitely had more of them :-)"

  • "Great service, was a different experience being able to try all the meat, and got a complimentary piece of cake for a birthday which my date enjoyed."

  • "The variety and quality of the meat make the visit a special occasion to be fully satisfied for the "All you can eat" Rodizio. Get there hungry and measure the speed of your meat acceptance to make it a long enjoyable experience. My family of five got charged for four as the 6 years old was decided by them to be "courtesy" even though he ate a lot for his age. It balances the check much better as it's costly per person. Very nice salad bar."

  • "I've been to Brazilian steakhouses before, but this was my first time at this particular chain. It was a very good experience. The salad bar was good (although not as extensive as the other Brazilian steakhouses I've been to, but that's not the real reason that you go to a Brazilian steakhouse anyway!). The selection of meat was great. When our server saw that we were waiting for some time for a particular meat choice, he asked us what we were waiting for, and it appeared in a few minutes. Overall, an excellent experience."

  • "We had a great time. The food was very good. The service was outstanding. The only thing negative was the location of our table. It was against a pole and kind of stuck out in the aisle but even that isn't that big of a deal. Will definitely go back."

  • "My guest and I had a reservation on a Friday night, so you can imagine, it was VERY crowded, but nonetheless a wonderful experience! The food was delicious, but the service was a tad slow, but again, it was only because it was a very busy Friday night. In comparing this to Texas de Brazil, the meats are a bit more on the bland side, but they do have salt & pepper on the tables for you to add your own desired amount. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to everyone I know!"

  • "We went here with our kids and had a great time. The salad bar is wonderful, but don't eat too much. The grilled meat selection is huge and there are many wonderful choices. Only down-side is be prepared for a calorie splurge because you will eat too much."

  • "This is my 14 year old's fav restaurant. We introduced it to him when he was promoted to 6th grade and now he graduated to 9. He loves steak so it is no surprise that he requested this place for his present. His younger brother ate ⅓ as much and they chared him1/2! A great surprise on the bill."

  • "If you love MEAT, then this is your place. The all you can eat salad bar is outstanding with high end fixings. But don't load up on the salad as once you turn over your red card, it's a full onslaught of all you can eat high quality cuts of MEAT. You also get all you can eat mash potatoes, polenta, sweet plantain bananas, and bread. If you haven't filled your gullet after trying the 16 different varieties of MEAT, a hunk of phenomenal New York style cheesecake will finish you off. The Xingu beer is as tasty as the MEAT. The price may appear to be high, but it's totally worth it if you love MEAT!"

  • "I took my husband here for Father's Day and we really enjoyed it. The food was great and well presented. Most of all, they are very accommodating. I have food allergies and did not accept must of the meats provided. The staff was very attentive and noticed this. The servers return shortly with several meats made to accommodate me. Everyone was so professional."

  • "We went for special occasion; Father's Day. Had heard wonderful things, and it certainly lived up to its reference. The preparations and choices of meats were varied, and all were excellent. Too often there are tempting things on a menur that you never get to try - here, everything is available for tasting, or targeted indulgence!! The meats were all superb, and the salad bar alone is worth a trip. Price is a bit high to make this a regular place to come, but certainly we will return."

  • "... is not only the quality of the food but also the cordiality and symphony of the waiters. Always with a smile and not for the tip: they work as a team and give you a friend feeling! If you add to that that the food was very good you get the perfect dinner ;o)"

  • "We've been here a few times now, and every time the food is absolutely wonderful (and there's a lot of it). Our server was a little grumpy, but overall very attentive (as was the rest of the staff). We didn't realize that refills for soda are *not* free - it would have been nice if that were clear (or if there were any indication of pricing anywhere at all). The food made up for it, though. Overall, we had a great time!"

  • "First time at the restaurant and will definitely go back. We arrived about 30 min early for a reservation and were seated right away. Huge variety of good food. Drinks are a little pricey, but it's DC. "

  • "Apparently my husband has made it his goal to eat at Fogo De Chao any time we visit a city where one is located; thus the reason for our visit. As always the food was great, the staff learned quickly that our family loved the leg of lamb and lamb chops and made sure to bring them to our table quickly."

  • "I am a person who is not a huge fan of meat, so you're probably wondering what I'm doing at a Brazilian steakhouse. Well lets just say that I have been converted to a meat lover! This place is amazing. The meat is cooked to perfection and I found myself grabbing slices after slices. Even their salad bar is phenomenal! We came here for lunch because you literally need hours to digest what amazing meats you'll be eating here. Absolutely loved the food, the service (all the service folk are all about making sure you're well taken care of), and the general ambiance. I highly recommend this for a luxury dinner or a splurged lunch. "

  • "I just recently took my girlfriend there for her birthday and everything was on point. The staff was friendly and the hostess was great at verifying it was my girlfriends birthday without her noticing. The drinks were great along with the food. This is my favorite spot in DC and Baltimore. All of the food is amazing but my fav was the lamb!"

  • "Tremendous. The first item I had was the sausage. It was hot, juicy and seasoned perfectly. After that, nothing disappointed. The lamb was the tastiest I've had in a long time. Each cut of beef was wonderful. When I asked for rare it was rare. When I wanted a crusty piece, I got it. The sides were delicious. The salad bar was high quality. The greens, mushrooms, quinoa, and another grain with lots of parsley and a lemony flavor was super. Service was right on, friendly, and very accommodating. Rather than wait for what came up next, the waiter would look for the lamb chop if that's what I wanted. Good atmosphere. Loud, lively, families, couples, large groups. Fun place. A festival of high quality meat. Highly recommended"

  • "I've had better experiences at other Brazilian steakhouse chains. The food here was great and the servers who brought the meats around are wonderful. However, the hostesses were rude. I made our reservation through open table for 2 people and commented that we would have an infant with us- he doesn't take up a seat and obviously is not eating. When we arrived, they were surprised to see "3 people". Consequently, we had to wait for about 15 minutes and we were placed at the table closest to the kitchen- which in this case is not all bad as we got the meat fresh out from the kitchen. Our waiter was pushy when it came to ordering drinks and dessert, and seemed rather put off that we were taking our time looking at the wine list. "

  • "A member of our party is gluten intolerant and she always has a problem finding anything on the menu. Not so at Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - Washington DC! The wait staff that was able to advise on what to, and what not to, select from the side bar, and spent a lot of time explaining the ingredients and preparation of the food with us. All of the food and service was outstanding! We can't wait for another occasion to visit again. Thank you Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse - Washington DC for a wonderful dining experience. It is one we won't soon forget."
