Diner Reviews
  • "In town for a convention. I have been to the one in Houston and took 2 colleagues there who have never been to a FOGO before. They loved it!! excellent staff and outstanding manager!! Definitely better price at lunchtime so I would suggest going then if you have never been before."

  • "Situated on the Riverwalk, between two Marriott (San Antonio's downtown has four Marriotts) hotels and a block from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center - they compete with at least one nearby world-class steak house in the impressive Little Rhein (and the national chains - Morton's, Ruth's; and the expanding regional Saltgrass) - and they lay waste to the North Central's Chama Gaucha on all fronts - protein, wine, and the Brazilian salad & hot starch buffet. Service was outstanding. The wine list is stocked with some excellent vintages - we elected a Tikal blend over one of their fine Malbecs (and, a great selection of California, Oregon, French, and Australian reds - all priced for their market) & all of their beef is outstanding!"

  • "It was our first time visiting the restaurant and I must say it was amazing! I really loved how when our server introduced himself he was sure to mention that at this restaurant they all work as a team so therefore, we shouldn't hesitate to ask anyone we see around us for help. I had never heard a server say that before and it was GREAT to hear because as a customer, it's awesome to know you don't have to wait around until you see your server to ask questions. Great place, amazing food, and outstanding service! Will definitely return."

  • "Good for large groups! Great food and even it's rodizio style you can choose the meat level of cook."

  • "We have been here on two occasions. The first was better. The problem was the better cuts of meat were scarce and took a long while to make it to our table. The ribs made it only twice- even upon special request. Some cuts of meat were very tough and some were very rare."

  • "This was my second time to eat here and both times the service and food was really good. I ordered a slice of just about every meat and was pleasantly surprised that I liked them all. The manager made her rounds to ensure the customers were happy. We ordered cocktails and I left like the bartender knew who we were. I did not like all the side dishes but you cannot please everyone. Overall I like the experience of dining her and would bring a group of friends."

  • "I had never been, and there was very little help in inderstanding how things worked. Staff was nice, but had no idea that the "salad" bar was included. My son and I walked over to the salad bar anyway, hoping it wasn't an extra charge. The 16 types of meat were okay, most lacked seasoning, and ended up being meat overload. The only starchy vegetable were some sub-par mashed potatoes. Not worth the $50 per person price tag (doesn't include drinks or dessert)."

  • "It was really a good experience, a meat lovers paradise! The service was nice and the steaks melt in your mouth. I love the bread too. We would definitely go back there again."

  • "A bit pricey if you are a light eater, the sitting price is fixed, but everything was very good. We are avid wine drinkers, and the inventory was huge but the markup was excessive."

  • "Their location in Rio was fantastic. This location was the exact opposite. Salad bar was very limited, lamb was very gamey, some meats were lacking flavor. Service was polite "

  • "Slow down, meat guys. Give the table a chance to decide and react before running off. Also c'mon with those prices. This isn't Disneyworld."

  • "Food was excellent, wine list was extensive, salad bar had many options and servers we very knowledgeable. "

  • "Very disappointed after looking forward to eating here. The meats serves did not have as much flavor and most of the beef was done or well done which I don't prefer. I did request medium rare on a couple of meats and got that. The best meat was the Parmesan pork. Texas de Brazil is much better on the taste and quality of their beefs that they serve. "

  • "We started right away with the meat and only went to the salad bar when we thought we might have a little extra room. Left stuffed and satisfied. Only complaint was a table behind us talking very loudly about politics and their opinion on the government. Put a damper on the close if our evening only because we couldn't tune them out if we tried! "

  • "My family liked the Brazilian steakhouse style of service with the meat carved at table side. The meat itself was average in flavor but the meal itself was more about the experience rather than the quality"

  • "What a great time at Fogo! Came with an appetite and left in need of strechy pants. The meats were amazing as always. Highly recommend the Lumbo (parmesan pork) and filet mignon in bacon...yummy! Great dinner, not cheap, but what a great way to sample a bunch of different cuts and meats. Awesome salad bar, but rookie mistake is to fill up there (easily done)."

  • "service a little offf and no grilled pineapple at end which was a bummer"

  • "This was my first visit and I will go again. There is a tremendous amount of food that was overall tasty and cooked to requested tempatures. A bit on the pricey side but the service and quantity of food make it close to justifiable. This was an enjoyable evening."

  • "We had a great time at Fogo. Prime cuts of meats were delicious. The service was outstanding. It's high priced, but good value for the money."

  • "We were not in the main area of the restaurant but in one of the secluded rooms around the main area. As a result the waiter forgot to bring the side dishes and also some of the waiters that serve the meat forgot to stop by frequently so we didn't get to try all the meats. The food was good though and so was the wine. Better value for money than Morton's - The Steakhouse"

  • "Three of us on a business trip to San Antonio decided to give this a try. Great food and incredible service. Very nice staff. We really had a wonderful evening"

  • "The idea of trying a bunch of different cuts of meat instead of settling on only one is really intruiging, and Fogo de Chao pulled it off spectacularly. The staff is very friendly, the wine list overwhelming (in a good way), and the salad bar comprehensive. Unfortunately, the steaks, while good, weren't mind blowing, and my "medium" cuts were quite well done. That said, the leg of lamb was the best I've ever had—an absolute must. I would highly recommend this place, if not for the great food, then at least for the experience."

  • "We went to Fogo de Chao for my husband's birthday. The food was amazing as always and they didn't charge for our dessert. The staff is so attentive. I love Fogo de Chao!"

  • "I have been to several Fogos and am always pleased with the quality of service and food, something that has not been the case with restaurants like The Palm. Fogo is always a treat, and this location is so convenient to the Riverwalk! I'll be back in San Antonio for another conference later this year and will definitely eat at Fogo again."

  • "This is modestly better than an Old Country Buffett. One cavernous room with a view of the mall. Staff and customers rushing by to reach the buffett. Flip you card over and the skewer comes fast; but you must wave off several to get what cut you are looking for. This place has the ambiance of a Nascar pit lane. The only situation I would see this concept working is for large informal business groups - all the same price and loud. If you are thinking about an evening for two or four this is NOT the place. Service was terrible from reception to obtaining the bill."

  • "Our reservation was for 9:30pm on Valentine's day. We had dinner with a couple we knew. Everything was wonderful. The food, the drinks, the cappuccino, the Brazilian lemonade. I couldn't have chosen a better restaurant for our date."
