Diner Reviews
  • "$25 Restaurant Wk lunch. Rodizio had 12 meats. Buffet bar had shiitake mushrooms, feojada, prosciutto, salami, smoked salmon-- all salad items including no fat bacon and a wonderful basil dressing. Meats were rare to well done, salted liberally. All meats tender & moist, not dried out or tough. 3 sides: mashed, fried bananas, and polenta. Dessert: chocolate mousse cake, key lime pie or cheesecake. Coffee extra. Drinks $14+. Service- attentive not intrusive. Waiters-friendly and efficient. Plates removed timely, water promptly refilled. Bathrooms clean and on dining level. On occasion wait for skewers was long, no seafood, long winding stairs down to dining area--only complaints."

  • "Overall, I was a bit dissappointed with Fogo's New York location... I mean, you are in the heart of one of the biggest steakhouse cities in the world and the food was okay but the servers and ambiance has a long way to go. Food: The meats were good but I strongly believe that Chima's Grill in Philadelphia has officially set the standard for highest quality Brazillian Rodizio. Service: It was blatantly obvious the servers were not trained or experienced. When the manager came by to our table to ask us how we were doing, I was a bit irritated considering the servers didnt pass by for 10minutes as we were starting our meal!!... I was very dissappointed at the service level. Ambiance: It was nice, but nothing too extraordinary."

  • "Everything was amazing. If you want an expensive but enjoyable dinner, then this is the place. Just don't stack up on the open salad bar. Have the steaks"

  • "Having dined at various Fogo de Chao locations throughout the US, the "new" NY restaurant did not disappoint us. Food was excellent; service was outstanding. They always pay special attention to our daughter (now 8yo) who loves the "red/green" action. We will be back!"

  • "We had a great meal here. The setting is very comfortable. The servers were almost too good, as 3 different people asked if we needed more drinks while the first person who asked was getting them. Every meat we tried we liked and whenever we wanted more of something, all we had to do was ask and someone quickly appeared with our request. Perhaps the salad bar could have some more choices but, then again, that's not really why we were there."

  • "The service unfortunately is not very good, no all but some of them are too slow and not friendly, If the restaurant will not let their clients to use the Wi-Fi, they should name the 3 Wi-Fi signals they have in a different way, today, when you are going out, and you might be on vacation Wi-Fi signal is a must for a restaurant, and the excuse that "is only for the office" is very stupid, this little thing, and the way the waiter tell it that make my visit to this restaurant not pleasant"

  • "Unless you sit at a noticible table you hardly get the gauchos to come by the table. I had my drink removed before it was finished. The waiters seemed lost while we were being served. Extremely pricey for what you actually get."

  • "While waiting for a table, I ordered a soda at the bar. I always tip when ordering a wine, beer or mixed drink. I specifically asked this particular bartender for a diet coke from the fountain dispenser and he insisted on serving me a 6.5oz bottle and charging me $4 for the experience. When I didn't leave him a tip for a) not serving me what I ordered and b) this ridiculously overpriced soda, he had the nerve to say out loud "I guess I'm working for free". I told him his remark was incredibly inappropriate, to which he said "Whatever" and fled to the back of the restaurant. I spoke with a manager about the bartender's behavior and got a very dismissive apology/brush off in response. Not the kind of service I expect for a $600 meal."

  • "Short walk from Hilton Midtown. Consistent with other Fogo's. Beautiful dining room and bar. Superb service. Like most of Manhattan, tables are close and it was loud. Had group of drunk sales guys at adjacent table, but not the restaurant's fault on that. Excellent meal."

  • "First time there. Interesting and unique eating experience. No menu. Waiters bring around various cuts of meat that are carved at your table to suit your individual preferences (slze, degree of cooking, etc). They keep on coming to you until you flip a card at your place setting. Salad and vegetable table for self serve. So the entire experience allows you to eat as much as you want. Tasty rolls. This is only a place for meat lovers. The various meat cuts were tasty and well prepared. There is really nothing for non-meat eaters. Also, for the pricing asked, the salad and vegetable table should offer better choices. Limited draught beer choices which is strange for a meat oriented restaurant. An overall enjoyable experience."

  • "We went to Fogo de Chao on a Wednesday night, before the theatre. The whole experience was wonderful. The meats were perfection, carved exactly as requested as to doneness; the service was friendly and efficient and observant. There was so much food that we couldn't even try some of the salad bar offerings."

  • "First time at a churrascaria. Loved it! Newly opened location looks very modern - ambience was great. Lots of small groups dining, and the wait staff was very responsive and helpful without being imposing. The meats kept coming! Salad bar is literally salad fixings and a small selection of cheeses - but I would advise limiting salad bar selections and focus on the main course. Favorites: bacon wrapped filet and the pork sausage. Tres Leches cake was absolutely phenomenal, probably best I have had yet! Would definitely go back, worth it!"

  • "Ate at their Denver location several years ago. For a chain restaurant they consistently put out a good product. A unique dining experience and must try if you are looking for a place to eat on an empty stomach; literally! You can definitely eat a lot of food here!"

  • "Our visit to Fogo de Chao was thoroughly enjoyable. This time we were with another couple from Arizona. We had first experienced Fogo de Chao at a meeting in Sao Paulo, Brazil a few years ago and ever since that time, I have wanted to enjoy the terrific meat selection again. The extensive Salad Bar could be a meal all by itself; it had an amazing selection of different types of salad offerings as well as deli items. My husband and I are loved the different cuts of meat (beef, chicken, lamb and also sausage). When we return to New York City again, we will return for another delicious meal at Fogo de Chao!"

  • "Not the best Brazilian place in the City. Food is not authentic, and not be tasteful either- they should improve as it is not representative of what Brazilian cuisine is. "

  • "This is the third city I've tried this restaurant and the third time the experience fell short. The evening started out well, the service manager named Lily provided exceptional service. However, as the night wore on and the restaurant filled up, it was hard to get a waiters attention. The salad bar was ok and I could get over the fact that rice and beans, vinaigrette and farofa were not brought to the table. You had to get up to bring it back after your plate was filled with meats. Meat quality was ok."

  • "With multiple events occurring on the same day, Fogo de Chao proved to be the perfect place to celebrate with family and dear friends and make each event special. It is a large grand dining hall with lots of tables, but somehow you feel each table is personal. With a child in our group, it was not restrictive. The salad bar has a very good variety and the meats, truly fabulous. You get lots of attention from your server but had to make several requests to have a certain selection of meat be stopped and offered at our table. That was minor and we sampled several other selections in the meanwhile. The Mojito-style drink, Capri--, is a must. We stayed for several hours and everyone left happy and very very satisfied! We all want to return. "

  • "Come with an empty stomach. Start with the salad bar, but don't fill up there because the fun of Fogo De Chao begins when you turn your disk to green. The servers are excellent and attentive. Quality of the food is very good. "

  • "I reserved a table to surprise my spouse and everything worked out great. The food was fantastic they worked with me to help accommodate my requests. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal the meat was cooked to perfection and seasoned magnificently. The drinks from the bar were executed flawlessly and the desserts were fantastic. The only hiccup was the hostess not paying attention to her screen and letting the cat out of the bag however I quickly covered her flub and proceeded to the bar all was not lost. I would repeat, the bar was great and the food great. The decor was nice and the 3 levels were cool."

  • "I have been a regular visitor at the Chicago branch and always loved it. When I heard they opened a restaurant in NY I had to try it out and it completely stood to my expectations! With a salad bar that is very reach and tasty, excellent meat cuts, Caipirinha and the Papaya Cream desert- you really don't need anything else! "

  • "I have done several Brazilian steakhouses before and the was the worst. The meat was average, which should not be the case in a steakhouse, with parts being cold. Service was rushed and unattentive. We were unimpressed. "

  • "The Charascharia idea of food is very appealing. A huge salad bar with great choices followed by freshly made meats, even some chicken for those who do not want just meat. One can't go often because the menu is often the same, but for a few times a year or for entertaining out of town guests it is ideal. The service is truly outstanding. If something is not immediately available and you request it they will go and order it up. On this our fourth visit, they had leg of lamb but no lamb chops and I recalled really liking the lamb chops on our last visit. I asked and very soon perfectly done lamb chops arrived. They are also very accommodating about allergies and seasoning. It is definitely a great addition to NYC dining."

  • "No so good for late night dining. We began dining at 9:30pm, and at 10pm (one hour before closing) the service went down. There where only a few staff members, and we needed to wait a while to get mor food."

  • "Service at this restaurant was better than any of the Fogo de Chaos I've been to in other parts of the US. The ambiance/decor is also the nicest I've seen among the Fogo de Chaos. The meats were well laid out on a "reference menu" and the place was very clean. I'd return again."

  • "Excellent service from the minute you sit down. Well prepared delicious buffet! Excellent selections of meat entrees and sliced to your personal requests. Need to turn your disk over to red just so that you can take a little breather between entrees. Great restaurant!"

  • "My favorite Brazlian style steakhouse is Zed 451. Fogo is expensively priced but more like a Ponderosa or Denny's quality of meat. If you don't mind eating lots of fat and gristle mixed in with your meat, then this place is fine."

  • "But this time the lights above our table were out. I've been here a couple times and had a good experience. So decided to take my friends here for dinner. It was very disappointing this time... The lights above our table were out so we couldn't even see how the meat were cooked and they didn't ofer to change table until we were half way through dinner. We got a bottle of wine and then tried switching to half a bottle but 3 of the wine we selected (recommended by server) were no longer available. Servers (w the meat) most of the time were really nice but the one taking care of our table was not very friendly unil they sent someone else but towards end. Overall the food was good But the custumer service was very disappointing. Regret taking m"
