Fog Harbor Fish HouseGreat view and good foodDespite being in touristy area the restaurant was quite the opposite. The food was great with beautiful view of the bay.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA nice dinner and view inA nice dinner and view in the midst of many tourist traps.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceBusy restaurant as you might imagine, overlooking the bay and the seals. Sat by the window and experiences sunset over the bay. Swordfish and filet mignon wonderful, and friendly staff even under pressure5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMArrived on time & table byArrived on time & table by window set for us with wonderful Pier 39 harbor views. Very good waiter, prompt service despite being Maother's Day & very busy. Food excellent. Nice portions & good flavors. Loved the calamari rings. Should serve a better California champagne by the glass eg Gloria Ferrar. Second time using Open Table & very pleased.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent choice for Mother's DayWe had a reservation for 10 people and were seated promptly with a nice window table with a view. Service was excellent. The food was great and the prices were reasonable for a touristy location. They were very busy because it was Mother's Day but we never waited for anything. We're going to make Fob Harbor Fish House our new Mother's Day tradition.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food at Fog Harbor Fish HouseWe had out of town guests and had to make reservations with only 24 hours notice. Our guests had not been to San Francisco before so I called the restaurant and asked for a window table. It was a wonderful evening, food was great, and the service was friendly. Be sure to get the crab cakes as an appetizer, you won't be disappointed.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest WaiterOur waiter was very attentive to our needs and made our anniversary celebration very special. The food was very good but the waiter was even better.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely ViewThis place is a great option in the Fisherman's Wharf area. Special kudos to their bartenders, who are amazing mixologists and so friendly! The food itself is also quite good. I had the mixed grill, which was lovely, as the fish was cooked perfectly. The salmon was a little bland, but I'd prefer that to overseasoned! I would absolutely recommend this place to folks in the area who want a lovely view of the harbor, including the infamous sea lions and Alcatraz.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service & ambianceThis restaurant will not disappoint!!! The freshest fish, the politest and most attentive service and an awesome bar menu. We dine here every time we visit the city and have never once had a bad experience. The appetizers are perfect for sharing and the seafood is caught fresh daily....it's a win win,5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Location and StaffWe celebrated my parents 53 anniversary, and had the best table in the place! Corner table with rounded windows with views from every angle. Mom and Dad just loved it. The weather was perfect in the city, and the views across to the Golden Gate and Alcatraz were spectaluar. Not to mention the food was large portions and just so delicious. We will definitely dine here again, and Open Table was perfect for making reservations.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent. TheThe food was excellent. The service was a little slow, but still very good. I couldn't complain too much about it since it was crowded. The view was great. The cost was a little pricey, but it's what should be expected for a location like this. For appetizers, we had oysters on the half shell, steamed clams, ahi poke, and the garlic bread. Since I had the ahi for my main course, I should have skipped this for an app. All else was good. We had the Ahi, which is always one of my favorites. The Clams Pennie, I don't care for clams, but my wife said it was very good. The fillet mignon, was tasty. And last was a burger, for my younger daughter, also very tasty.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect eveningFrom reservation to to Check all was great. Salmon was very good. Fried shrimp plain but good, was expecting a bit higher quality shrimp, but was not disappointed. Great view at sunset and reasonably priced.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBay view diningWe enjoyed our visit to Fog Harbour Fish House. The atmosphere was good, with a view of the bay. The food was good but not superb. Wait staff was very friendly and provided good service.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGleaming Pearl on Fisherman's WharfThis is the best restaurant in the Fisherman's Wharf area. Both tourists and locals alike are greeted and treated with personable and friendly service, and fine food. The menu is a very nice mix of main dishes and appetizers, with an obvious emphasis on fresh and tasty sea food. Views of the pier area and of SF Bay are lovely, and the table layout is designed to maximize the patrons' view of the water. The food is consistently very good and reasonably priced. In particular, the fresh raw oysters, crsipy fried calamari and chili-sauteéd shrimp appetizers are well-prepared and tasty. The fish and shellfish main dishes are built around sustainable species, and are consistently prepared to be moist and tasty.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceI was visiting San Francisco for business - first time out there. The first night, my client made a horrible dinner recommendation, so the next night I turned to Open Table. This restaurant was perfection. The view of the harbor at sunset was beautiful. The dinner was superb. Jon, our waiter, made excellent recommendations, was friendly, and made it a great experience for us.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view with solid service matchThis restaurant has a beautiful view of San Francisco Bay with very good service and food to match it. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and is open and expansive. Good value for the location.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant was very niceThe restaurant was very nice and had wonderful views of the bay. The food was Devine and would recommend the restaurant to anyone who likes seafood.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fabulous -- whatThe food was fabulous -- what you hope for in San Francisco (fabulous fresh fish, featuring crab in particular and freshly baked sourdough) and surprising without being weird. Waitress couldn't be better. Superb view of the bay, sea lions, Alcatraz. My only drawback: Pier 39 is Disneyland on the harbor. But the parking is free (validated) and once in the restaurant, the hub bub outside is only a memory.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious fish, great viewWhen my parents came to visit from Boston, I wanted to take them to a good seafood restaurant in SF. The view is great, the food was delicious and well-presented, and we appreciate the fact that the restaurant serves sustainably fished seafood. It's pretty loud in the dining room, so be prepared for that. Most of the staff were very professional, although not across the board. Overall it was a lovely lunch, and I would definitely recommend Fog Harbor if you are touring the Fisherman's Wharf area.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is always one ofThis place is always one of my SF faves. Great food, good service, amazing view, convenient location, and not over priced. Score!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExtremely welcoming and friendlyExtremely welcoming and friendly staff with great food and views.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother wonderful meal!I often lead groups to theatre in San Francisco and we always end the day at Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf so everyone can eat dinner. When asked, I always recommend Fog Harbor Fish House for the best seafood on the Pier. This trip 43 of the 57 people on the bus dined at Fog Harbor. My biggest complaint has been that the wines were served too warm. Pinot Noir should be poured at 61˚ and the last trip my bottle was closer to 78˚. Turns out when I complained they discovered the wine chiller was running but not chilling. This trip wine temperature was spot on and the food, as usual was delicious. Had calamari earlier in the day at the walk-up on Fisherman's Wharf that was rubbery and tasteless, exactly the opposite of what we got at Fog Harbor.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI got the lobster tail andI got the lobster tail and it was very good and it went well with white wine. We got tiramisu for dessert and it was excellent! The nose level was very loud and we had to practically yell across the table to be heard. Overall it was a great place to eat. I will recommend it and go back!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMa little expensive but you know whyservice was very nice, we ate a lot of good food , and presentation of the plates was great! thank you so much!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond great dinner with CatherineSecond great dinner with Catherine and Tony doing a magnificent job serving a fantastic dinner.
our waiters from the night before even came by and said hello.
The best grilled fish at the wharf4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWas a great dinner!!! EverythingWas a great dinner!!! Everything was delicious...all the seafood dishes were great!! The desserts were yummy! The only disappointment was the blue cheese garlic bread :( I read rave reviews about it and couldn't wait to ordered it. Ours was very dry and plain. We actually had to add butter from the table to give it some flavor. We will definitely be going back :)4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, great experience.Overall, great experience. The food, service, scenery was fantastic. No complaints and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGo-To Place for SeafoodSan Francisco and seafood naturally go together and Fog Harbor has become my go-to place for fresh seafood. The staff is attentive, the managers personable, and Stephanie on the front desk is quick to make you welcome. Use OpenTable as reservations are often needed, and there is a little special treat for those reserving online. If it is on the special menu, don't miss the crab stuffed steelhead trout!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAWESOME!!!Wonderful experience overall. AMAZING food, with AWESOME views. The place was packed and wild so the service was a wee bit slow, but our waiter still did a great job. The manager is outstanding - very personable and professional. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to our family and friends.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great. Service wasFood was great. Service was great. Overall just really enjoyed our evening they definitely helped to make the evening special. Really glad I chose this place for my girlfriend's birthday. Only downside was there was 2 of us at a giant table, but can't fault them for that (getting us a good table would have been a cherry on top)4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly good for a touristSurprisingly good for a tourist oriented venue; waiter made a snide comment when we used a Pier 39 discount coupon.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's hard to believe you canIt's hard to believe you can find a very good quality, white-tablecloth restaurant at Pier 39, a very tourist-y place, but you can. We stopped there for lunch after going to the nearby aquarium and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the seafood and the excellent service. In fact, we went back for dinner a few days later even though we had no reason to go to the pier. Tip: make a reservation and say that you are a returning customer. That got us an amuse bouche. We can easily recommend the crab cakes and the sole, and the specials that we had were also very good. The restaurant claims to be committed to using seafood caught in a sustainable manner.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWas an excellent Birthday-Dinner,Was an excellent Birthday-Dinner, very friendly stuff. Our servant was able to answer our questions about the food and wine, without hesitation, and give suggestions, this was great4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMImpeccable Service!I absolutely loved our dinner at the Fog House! My husband and I were in town from Seattle, having dinner with local friends from Santa Cruz. We were delighted with the food, and our server was fantastic. They ran out of one of the specials right as we ordered, but the manager went above and beyond to make it up to us. We will definitely be back!!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVery quick and friendly service;Very quick and friendly service; great, high quality local seafood and very tempting-looking desserts (didn't venture into trying any after a the quite filling variety platter I had, but they did show us the options).
The touristy stigma of Pier 39 and rumors of "touristy" (inferior implied) quality of food is a pure product of the SF hipsterdom and their inflamed snobbery. I am a local and I can say that it is one of the nicer seafood restaurants in the city.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI enjoy my meal greatly, theI enjoy my meal greatly, the service was very cordial and pleasant. A busy night, but the general atmosphere was relaxing.
Good wine selection. I had the Ahi Tuna, it was ok, cold in the center, would have liked it at least warm. All in all, very nice outing3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe atmosphere was great,The atmosphere was great, the food was phenomenal, and the server(s) went out of their way to make our dining experience outstanding! I not only highly recommend Fog Harbor Fish House but will definitely return there myself!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBest service ever from theBest service ever from the receptionist, waitstaff and manager. Great food.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodies Consider This RestaurantThe restaurant exceeded our expectations for food, service and ambience in the midst of this "tourist" location of San Francisco. We highly recommend it for fellow travelers who look for restaurants that care about their food preparation. And the view thru the windows offers a quiet overlook of all that the harbor offers.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were in San Francisco recentlyWe were in San Francisco recently and had the opportunity to dine at Fog Harbour. We had the caesar salad (whole dressed romaine leaves). the evening special (salmon stuffed with seafood). and the tuna, along with sourdough bread and a Franciscan wine, and virgin mohito. The portions were hearty, the view was lovely, our waiter was personable and efficient, and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend this restaurant!3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMthe quality of this restaurantthe quality of this restaurant has stayed consistent over the years. Considering it is on Pier 39 quite a compliment.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AM
