Fog Harbor Fish HouseExcellent experience!Made a reservation on Open Table a few weeks before going to this restaurant and for doing that they brought over a delicious amuse bouche! The service was excellent even though the restaurant was packed. All our courses were delicious, too.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful view and great foodMy boyfriend and I had a great dinner here! I requested a table with a view prior to arriving in San Francisco and when we were shown our table it was nothing less than an amazing view of the harbor and Alcatraz. Great food! I had the mixed grill which was great while my boyfriend had the chowder in the sourdough bread bowl which he loved. We had great service and a great dinner!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA surprise in tourist area ...For being in the tourist area of Fisherman's Wharf, I was very pleased with the quality of service and food. Had low expectations and was surprised. I had out of state guests that wanted to go to Fisherman's Wharf, so I was happy they had a wonderful experience, too. Appreciated that they use sustainable fish sources.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThere's a reason this placeThere's a reason this place is packed with tourists! Great San Francisco experience with hot sour dough bread, a large and varied menu and great harbor view. Fireplace lobby is a cozy place to linger after your meal. Our server, Tim, was absolutely excellent. Party of 9 and he didn't miss a thing. He provided a cheerful hello when we arrived and kicked right into "go" mode all the way through the 2 1/2 hours we were there. Even made sure our 3 kids (who were seated at the end of the table) were happy and he met all their needs personally too! He spoke clearly and loud enough for everyone to hear, had a great personality and sense of humor. They seat larger parties together in a semi-private room, also with a view. Food is wonderful.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food & serviceThe food was great and the location is ideal. You get a beautiful view!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat way to end the day in SFWe finished our tour ahead of schedule and were able to get in earlier than our reserved time. Our server was delightful and attentive, the food was fabulous, and the dessert was over the top! I will definitely recommend this restaurant and will be returning the next time I visit SF.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dinnerWe weren't sure what type of restaurant we were getting right on Pier 39 --- other restaurants looked a little cheesy --- but this place was terrific. Food was great. The dining room and view was spectacular. With a reservation, we got right in. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great San Francisco experience.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service and foodLove this place - the staff are always so helpful and willing to make the visit there a special one - will be back!
Amazing fresh food - every time!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic San FranciscoAfter a brief but pleasant wait at the bar for our table, we were seated in a comfortable banquette with a lovely view of the setting sun. Attentive but not intrusive service and very well-prepared food made for a wonderful evening in the city. Very generous portion of bass was served. Appetizers were wonderful, too.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMjust greatThe food was very good and the service one of the best i ever had. Pier 39 has a serious pearl here where you forget all this disneyland stuff outside.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food but priceyThe food was average seafood, but location is prime tourist area at Pier 39. The view was great overlooking the harbor and you can also see the seals in certain locations. I thought it was good enough to go back.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMChef knows how to cook fishChef knows how to cook fish - very tender, minimal spices, so that the flavor of the fish comes through. Excellent clam chowder. Great ocean views. Drinks: cucumber gimlet (yum) and ginger lemonade were very refreshing. Sustainable fish and wine to pair. They do fried well, too (lemon calamari, sweet potato fries were also excellent). Good service with a complimentary amuse bouche for reserving using Open Table.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMescaped from Alcatraz to hereman was this good. All the reviews that say, ignore the fact that you're on a tourist trap and enjoy are correct. Fresh, warm, sourdough and fresh seafood and attentive staff6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was greatWe asked for a nice table with a view since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Despite that the place was full and with a long waiting list the table was ready on time. Flood and service were great!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMI have had a rule of thumbI have had a rule of thumb about eating in San Francisco -- don't eat on Pier 39, it can't be good because it is too touristy and kitschy.
My rule has now changed, this place offers good food in a decent, classy environment.
Fog Harbor is the real deal in the middle of Pier 39. Well done!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food at Fog HouseMy wife and I ate at Fog House on 5/31/2013. She had a crab dish, and I had the cioppino. We were both very satisfied. The portions are good, the quality of the food was excellent. Our waiter was superb, and took care of our every need with courtesy and efficiency. Overall it was a very good experience!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFog Harbor Great for LocalsDon't let the tourists hold you back from fine dining. I'm a native San Franciscan but my latest secret is to dine at Pier 39. Fog Harbor serves fresh sustainable seafood and ideal SF sourdough. The views are expansive. Excellent service, ambiance, quality menu. As a kid, we'd go to Ghirardelli Square to dine but now we go to Pier 39 for a San Francisco treat.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food with a ViewThe food was great..The fish dishes were cooked perfectly......cooked but still moist. The portions were large and seems to be priced well. The restaurant is situated with a great view of the bay and alcatraz. The service was great and very helpful and responsive to our needs and special requests. will definitely return.....5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe views of San FranciscoThe views of San Francisco and the bay are outstanding, the food and service are very good, and this Pier 39 restaurant, while located at one of the most touristy sites in the country is a great choice for lunch or dinner. Our calamari appetizer, Caesar salad, clam chowder breadbowl, and house salad were all terrific starters. Main courses included salmon, trout, sea scallops, and pasta/chicken...each was delicious.
The molten chocolate cake and ice cream cookie were excellent choices to end the meal, and everyone in our party had an enjoyable meal.
Make sure to have your parking ticket validated, as it cuts down on this cost of this somewhat pricey excursion.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food and great viewWe would return to this restaurant. It was very good and had a very nice experience. If you book it on open table you get a little extra treat and a nice window seat.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Seafood RestaurantWe ate here after reading the good rating on Trip Advisor. We were given a table with a view of the ocean just because I had reserved on Open Table. The service was outstanding as was the food.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent first time experienceWe arrived on tome and were immediately seated. The service was prompt and the waiter wad very attentive. The food was delicious snd we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Overall an experience worth repeating. Oh, and the cocktails were amazing.s5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAll around greatSuper cute restauraunt, beautiful view, awesome service .5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, nice restaurantWe took our family members from Wisconsin on a visit to Alcatraz so we stopped at Harbor Fish House for lunch before our excursion. The salmon and bacon sandwich was excellent, the hamburger that was excellent, a crab cake sandwich that was also excellent and then crab cakes. Everyone was happy with their meal except the person who ordered the Caesar salad said it was a little "tired." The service was above average and the hostess was not only beautiful but very pleasant and happy. We would return to this restaurant!!!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view and good foodDespite being in touristy area the restaurant was quite the opposite. The food was great with beautiful view of the bay.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGood ExperienceVisiting from Denver and wanted seafood. A friend of mine had recommended Fog Harbour if we were going to be in the Fisherman's wharf area. The cocktail I ordered was extremely tasty (ginger coconut) and the shrimp dish I ordered was very good but superb. The ambiance was fun and the service was good.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, too noisyI had a lovely dinner, prices were reasobable. Service was ok - the server had too many tables, forgot to offer me dessert. There was a couple that brought in small children and their baby kept screaming. Nothing was done about it although it clearly disrupted all of the diners around that table. Tables really close together. The view was excellent!! I would NOT recommend for a romantic dinner but a night out with friends would be OK.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprised at Great Restau on WharfWe had heard that food on the Wharf would be mediocre ~ we found the Fog Harbor Fish House and excellent find! Wait staff very professional and attentive and the food was excellent and plentiful. We will visit there again on our next trip!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA nice dinner and view inA nice dinner and view in the midst of many tourist traps.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceBusy restaurant as you might imagine, overlooking the bay and the seals. Sat by the window and experiences sunset over the bay. Swordfish and filet mignon wonderful, and friendly staff even under pressure5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMArrived on time & table byArrived on time & table by window set for us with wonderful Pier 39 harbor views. Very good waiter, prompt service despite being Maother's Day & very busy. Food excellent. Nice portions & good flavors. Loved the calamari rings. Should serve a better California champagne by the glass eg Gloria Ferrar. Second time using Open Table & very pleased.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent choice for Mother's DayWe had a reservation for 10 people and were seated promptly with a nice window table with a view. Service was excellent. The food was great and the prices were reasonable for a touristy location. They were very busy because it was Mother's Day but we never waited for anything. We're going to make Fob Harbor Fish House our new Mother's Day tradition.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother dayFirst time here will return soon food is good here5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food at Fog Harbor Fish HouseWe had out of town guests and had to make reservations with only 24 hours notice. Our guests had not been to San Francisco before so I called the restaurant and asked for a window table. It was a wonderful evening, food was great, and the service was friendly. Be sure to get the crab cakes as an appetizer, you won't be disappointed.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest WaiterOur waiter was very attentive to our needs and made our anniversary celebration very special. The food was very good but the waiter was even better.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely ViewThis place is a great option in the Fisherman's Wharf area. Special kudos to their bartenders, who are amazing mixologists and so friendly! The food itself is also quite good. I had the mixed grill, which was lovely, as the fish was cooked perfectly. The salmon was a little bland, but I'd prefer that to overseasoned! I would absolutely recommend this place to folks in the area who want a lovely view of the harbor, including the infamous sea lions and Alcatraz.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service & ambianceThis restaurant will not disappoint!!! The freshest fish, the politest and most attentive service and an awesome bar menu. We dine here every time we visit the city and have never once had a bad experience. The appetizers are perfect for sharing and the seafood is caught fresh daily....it's a win win,5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Location and StaffWe celebrated my parents 53 anniversary, and had the best table in the place! Corner table with rounded windows with views from every angle. Mom and Dad just loved it. The weather was perfect in the city, and the views across to the Golden Gate and Alcatraz were spectaluar. Not to mention the food was large portions and just so delicious. We will definitely dine here again, and Open Table was perfect for making reservations.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent. TheThe food was excellent. The service was a little slow, but still very good. I couldn't complain too much about it since it was crowded. The view was great. The cost was a little pricey, but it's what should be expected for a location like this. For appetizers, we had oysters on the half shell, steamed clams, ahi poke, and the garlic bread. Since I had the ahi for my main course, I should have skipped this for an app. All else was good. We had the Ahi, which is always one of my favorites. The Clams Pennie, I don't care for clams, but my wife said it was very good. The fillet mignon, was tasty. And last was a burger, for my younger daughter, also very tasty.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect eveningFrom reservation to to Check all was great. Salmon was very good. Fried shrimp plain but good, was expecting a bit higher quality shrimp, but was not disappointed. Great view at sunset and reasonably priced.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBay view diningWe enjoyed our visit to Fog Harbour Fish House. The atmosphere was good, with a view of the bay. The food was good but not superb. Wait staff was very friendly and provided good service.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGleaming Pearl on Fisherman's WharfThis is the best restaurant in the Fisherman's Wharf area. Both tourists and locals alike are greeted and treated with personable and friendly service, and fine food. The menu is a very nice mix of main dishes and appetizers, with an obvious emphasis on fresh and tasty sea food. Views of the pier area and of SF Bay are lovely, and the table layout is designed to maximize the patrons' view of the water. The food is consistently very good and reasonably priced. In particular, the fresh raw oysters, crsipy fried calamari and chili-sauteéd shrimp appetizers are well-prepared and tasty. The fish and shellfish main dishes are built around sustainable species, and are consistently prepared to be moist and tasty.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view with solid service matchThis restaurant has a beautiful view of San Francisco Bay with very good service and food to match it. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and is open and expansive. Good value for the location.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceI was visiting San Francisco for business - first time out there. The first night, my client made a horrible dinner recommendation, so the next night I turned to Open Table. This restaurant was perfection. The view of the harbor at sunset was beautiful. The dinner was superb. Jon, our waiter, made excellent recommendations, was friendly, and made it a great experience for us.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant was very niceThe restaurant was very nice and had wonderful views of the bay. The food was Devine and would recommend the restaurant to anyone who likes seafood.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fabulous -- whatThe food was fabulous -- what you hope for in San Francisco (fabulous fresh fish, featuring crab in particular and freshly baked sourdough) and surprising without being weird. Waitress couldn't be better. Superb view of the bay, sea lions, Alcatraz. My only drawback: Pier 39 is Disneyland on the harbor. But the parking is free (validated) and once in the restaurant, the hub bub outside is only a memory.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious fish, great viewWhen my parents came to visit from Boston, I wanted to take them to a good seafood restaurant in SF. The view is great, the food was delicious and well-presented, and we appreciate the fact that the restaurant serves sustainably fished seafood. It's pretty loud in the dining room, so be prepared for that. Most of the staff were very professional, although not across the board. Overall it was a lovely lunch, and I would definitely recommend Fog Harbor if you are touring the Fisherman's Wharf area.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is always one ofThis place is always one of my SF faves. Great food, good service, amazing view, convenient location, and not over priced. Score!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExtremely welcoming and friendlyExtremely welcoming and friendly staff with great food and views.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother wonderful meal!I often lead groups to theatre in San Francisco and we always end the day at Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf so everyone can eat dinner. When asked, I always recommend Fog Harbor Fish House for the best seafood on the Pier. This trip 43 of the 57 people on the bus dined at Fog Harbor. My biggest complaint has been that the wines were served too warm. Pinot Noir should be poured at 61˚ and the last trip my bottle was closer to 78˚. Turns out when I complained they discovered the wine chiller was running but not chilling. This trip wine temperature was spot on and the food, as usual was delicious. Had calamari earlier in the day at the walk-up on Fisherman's Wharf that was rubbery and tasteless, exactly the opposite of what we got at Fog Harbor.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AM
