Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the views are great. The wait staff is very professional. The food however was nothing above average. We had the crabcake appetizer which did not have any large chuncks of crab meat and tasted on more breading that crab. The lemon calamari was very good, fried lightly not over done. We had crab avocado salad which was good and they split the salad into two. The entrees of the garlic crab and fish and chips were just average, not much sweetness to the crab and the fish was very thin and quite greasy even for fish and chips. We go tsome much better Fish and Chips from a food truck the next day! I would try a different restaurant on a visit to San Fran as this was just not a very memorable meal."

  • "It was a first time we dining here and we did not expect the food was so great, better than our expectation. We are dining in the city quite often and we were so happy and satisfy with the whole time we were there. Our waitress was a little slow but we understand that she was so busy. We are definitely will come back and will our friends and family there."

  • "My wife and I stopped here while on vacation. Honestly, we chose the resturant because we got a discount from another touristty place we went to that day, but we were very happy with the choice. The staff were very friendly, we even got upgraded after we sat down, as another reservation that had a window seat cancelled and we got moved to the better seats. The wine and food were excellent, my wife had the ciopinno and I had swordfish, we would reccommend both. The ambiance is great for couples, and the view can't be beat."

  • "In town from Los Angeles to visit my cousin, who's a SF local, and my brother, in SF on a business trip, I persuaded them to have dinner @ this spot on Pier 39. What?!? Isn't that a tourist joint? Recent reviews on Yelp from locals persuaded them to see things my way, thankfully. The calamari appetizer was tender, the ahi appetizer was very fresh and jazzed up with bits of mango and avocado. Fish and chips were moist, not greasy. I'd definitely return! (Oh, not to mention the lovely view of the pre-sunset sky!)"

  • "Excellent service , great food . The waitress skillfully worked with our large group . We enjoyed everything we ordered: fresh and delectable! The kids loved it too!"

  • "Recommended by a local, we had the best meal of our trip here. Would definitely come back when we are in the area."

  • "The food was good, but not great. My wife and I had a seafood medley, which was OK - kind of bland. My daughter had a pasta dish that was flavorful. The views of the harbor are great. You can see Alcatraz, parts of GG Bridge, and some resting sea lions. The total was $150, which was a bit much for the meal."

  • "We are locals and rarely go to Pier 39, but we had a gift certificate through a school auction. I really loved this restaurant. Everything was really good from drinks, to food, to service, to ambiance. The portions were large - we split a very generous beet salad, and I took home half of my entrée (lobster mac and cheese which was excellent). No room for dessert, but would go back - they looked amazing. We will go back, for sure."

  • "We made reservations for dinner, and had a table w/ a view waiting for us. Our order was taken and we asked if the promotions we had for Fog Harbor Fish House were applicable. Our server indicated she was new but got back to us that we could! Score! We ordered entrees from the daily specials menu, and everything was very tasty. My only issues with this place: the special cod seafood dish they had on the daily menu was no longer available and we weren't told until after I ordered it. Our server also didn't offer water to us - we had to ask for it. Make sure you go to the Visitor's Center for a 2-hour parking validation and pick up the coupon for the restaurant. You should also check in via Yelp for a free appetizer."

  • "Fish and chips were not good in my opinion. Fish had little to no flavor, the tartar sauce was weak and the cole slaw also tasted funny. The Chips portion was fine ;) My girlfriend liked her meal so maybe I just got a bad batch. The drinks were good, so I would definitely go for their cocktails. Reasonably priced restaurant."

  • "I was able to get a reservation a few hours before I wanted to eat. When I arrived, they promptly got me seated. The food was not spectacular by any means, but they do have quite a few options. I did like the ginger lemonade. I had oysters on the half-shell and they were not great. I have had much better oysters at other restaurants. I had the swordfish, salmon and shrimp with rice as a main course. Not amazing either, but definitely a healthy option. The sourdough bread on the table was quite nice. There is a nice view of the water from the restaurant. I just wish the food was better for the price."

  • "We had a group of 7, my relatives rom the east coast wanted seafood. My wife and I enjoy taking guests to Fog Harbor. Great views and seafood is fresh. We had Calamari, Clam Chowder and the garlic cheese bread for appetizers. For mains, Crab Louie, Combo Fish platter, Clam Linguini, Crab cakes, Soup and Salad. The Calamari was really fresh and tasty. Plenty of crab on the Crab Louie. My sister in law enjoyed her chowder but wasn't too impressed with the crab cakes but other than that, everyone was happy with their meals."

  • "I was in San Francisco on business and decided I wanted some clam chowder. I went to Fog Harbor because I could make a reservation and I knew their clam chowder would be delicious. I had the deep fried scallops appetizer with lemon aioli instead of jalapeño aioli, a cup of clam chowder, and the lobster tail. Everything was delicious. It is kind of pricey though so be ready to spend at least $100 for a couple."

  • "Very poor service, the waiter was not friendly. He asked us to move table since we are just 2 at four ppl table, and 10 second later let another 2 sitting at that table (maybe his favorite customers) and then gave his name card to them and keep on serving them most of the time"

  • "This restaurant has exceptional views of SF bay, however the food was disappointing. The special Crab and Avocado Casear salad consisted of mostly tasteless romaine lettuce. The salad had very little crab, bacon and avocado. My dining companions commented that their choices were also mediocre. The bread was excellent! I would recommend going for a cocktail, but not for a meal."

  • "I bring out of town guest here because the view out of the bay is amazing, its walking distance to many other tourist type activities and the food is excellent. I was lucky enough to catch the end of crab season!! The steamed muscles in coconut broth is delightful, the clam shower is amazing, and of course the crab!! We also had the seared Tuna - prepared perfectly, which I would order again. This is a fine dining atmosphere and when we came in for lunch, we thought we might be under dressed. But many people touring the fisherman's wharf area came in very casual and it was quite comfortable. It may be dressier in the evening, but I have only been here during lunch. The service was friendly and attentive."

  • "We were really looking forward to our meal at the Fog Harbour Fish House, especially after viewing the menu and other reviews. Unfortunately we felt it was a bit of a let down. The service was slow and we found it hard to catch the waiter's attention or additional drinks and even the bill. The food was ok but not great. Overall we would not return."

  • "We ordered the 'grill mix' which was phenomenal. It came with broccoli, red bell peppers, wild rice, mashed potatoes, salmon, trout (i think) and shrimp. Our 4-yr old had a great time coloring with crayons they provided (they can color on the table too, its covered in white paper) Its very child-friendly. We also had a good view of the sea lions at the pier from our table. Overall, good food, and great service (our waitress was exceptional)"

  • "Although I would have loved to have a great Valentine's Day dinner here, my boyfriend and I decided to go with a Valentine's lunch, and we were not a bit disappointed! What wowed us the most was the view. Even though we didn't have a table by the windows, our table (or our booth, rather) was slightly elevated beside the tables by the windows. We had a great view of the Bay and it was magnificent to see the fog roll in and out, something you probably won't see during dinner. The food was absolutely delicious. Definitely get the clam chowder in a bread bowl! I got the grilled shrimp brochette, while my boyfriend got the seafood cioppino. Our experience here was fantastic, and we can't wait to come back again next time we're in San Francisco!"

  • "From the moment my significant other and I walked into the fog Harbour fish house, we felt that the restaurant was on a mission to take as much money from us as possible, as quickly as possible. Our server was constantly trying to upsell our drinks (Insisting that the $9 chardonnay is terrible, and we must try the $13 instead) recommending the most expensive items on the menu, and pushing us out of the restaurant. Our waiter even took my significant others soup away (without asking) before he was finished. The food was mediocre at best; everything was covered in a thick layer of salt. Overall this is one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had, even for a restaurant in a touristy area."

  • "We had great dinner at Fog Harbor Fish House. It is in Pier 39 so many tourists. Our food was great, the fish extremely fresh and prepared perfect. Great table by the window that we got because we had made reservations."

  • "Recommend reservations here most of the time, especially on the weekends. We showed up about 20 minutes early, on a 3 day weekend, on a Saturday, which was also Valentine's Day Weekend, they were able to get us in a little early, but even if we would have to have waited longer, the outdoor seating area next to beautiful fireplace and wall fountain was warming enough to keep us company. They were able to accomadate my request of a window seat overlooking the Bay. My only negative cristism is they changed their grilled salmon.Next time will definitely get the food separate and not on top ofone aanother, will replace corn with broccoli, as my date's was delicious and will ask for the salmon to be simply topped with the citrus butter."

  • "Clam chowder was to "die for." There were four of us celebrating a birthday. We were given a cozy semi-round booth over-looking SF bay. Waiters were attentive and personal. They have a waiting area with comfy sofas and a fireplace - nice touch. Would definitely go again."

  • "I made a reservation at 5 and came right on time. Even though it was Valentine's Day and it was suppose to be busy for the city, I got into a seat right at 5 with my special request which was by the window looking at the view if it was possible. John, the waiter, was really great too. Food is delicious also! I will definitely be coming back soon to try different types of food on their menu."
