Diner Reviews
  • "Limited menu of starters, entrees, and desserts. Extra courses provided by the chef, free of charge. Everything was excellent, though it was rather expensive."

  • "The chef made some amazing simple dishes with some of the best produce I've ever had. The waitstaff was knowledgable and you could tell they cared about the restaurant and the client. Our waiter helped a couple of amateurs navigate the wine list and found us the perfect bottle."

  • "We had heard great things about Flyte, and it did not disappoint! From the extensive wine list, to the unbelievable food to the best service, flyte is the best restaurant we have tried in nashville. We HIGHLY recommend it!!!"

  • "From start to finish Flyte was top notch! From the time we walked thru the entrance until the time we walked out, it was an excellent experience. I would highly recommend this place and I will definitely come back."

  • "Our party of four had a wonderful experience at Flyte. The staff was personable and knowledgeable. They offered great insight on the impressive wine list and entree options. Every starter and entree I tried was wonderful. We will be back!"

  • "Carrot soup was very good but extremely skimpy portion for $8. Want a slie of bread? That'll be $6. Waited OVER an hour and a half for entrees to arrive. Fortunately 3 out of 9 in our group hadn't seen anything that enticed them on the extremely limited menu options!"
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "Because previous experiences, we looked forward to visiting Flyte. However, the service was indifferent and the portions both small and uneven in quality. Though the carrot soup was good and the grilled beans excellent, the tomato salad was only average and the trout that we ordered for the main dish was inferior not only to Tin Angel, but even to Cracker Barrel. All in all, we have had better fine dining experiences."

  • "Service was excellent, with very knowledgeable staff. Food pricey but tasty. Music better when it was turned down, though prefer "dinner music" to R&R. Exceptional wine list."

  • "Wow this place has changed Had not been there in about 2 years. The prices have gone way up! The service last Friday was terrible. I guess the waiter did not want to be bothered with us as we did not order a bottle of wine. The menu had 5 items none of them were appealing to us so we ordered 3 appetizers. The soup was 8.00 dollars and they gave us about 3 to 4 oz. I will NOT be back."

  • "Everything about Flyte was fantastic - great food, too many fabulous choices, fresh, fresh, fresh ingredients (I even ordered dessert, I generally don't like desserts, these were more savory than sweet). Great wine list, well organized, easy to follow. Amazing service, I usually don't care to know my server's name but in this case my wife and I were very impressed with Todd and so, remember his name. He was extremely knowledgeable, knew every aspect of the menu, right down to spices, flavors, tastes, etc., which was most helpful. He knew the wine list and, even though I know wines, his knowledge and recommendation was right-on. Rarely have my wife and I been so impressed with a restaurant. Despite not living in Nashville, we will be back."

  • "We adored everything we ate at Flyte - sourdough bread, the fried egg appetizer, the vegetable risotto, and the trout. This is careful, meticulous cooking. Great wine selection and attentive service, although I could have done without having the menu read to us almost verbatim and it took quite a while to receive our appetizers."

  • "With trained sommeliers, they make a massive wine list easy to understand and enjoy. Good food and atmosphere as well!"

  • "From the moment we entered we were cared for by an enthusiastic and extremely well versed group of servers and were ecstatic to be personally greeted by Chef Lackey who took time from his very busy kitchen to select and present the excellent and complex fare. I am only sorry we could not have eaten more but everything we tried showed the vision of a young chef who is very partial to sustainable food production and religious about using very local ingredients. Will absolutely recommend Flyte for those who care about the food which nourishes them."

  • "Really great fresh ,delicious food. Small menu that changes often and unique. We loved that the food is from local farms. Presentation of food was wonderful. We had the trout and Rabbit for our main course. Both very delicious. For starters we had the cheese plate and Fried egg. Both were wonderful. The Chocolate & Cardamom Semifreddo and Black & Blue Financier were great but for $10 per dessert it's a bit much for the small size you get. Lastly, the staff and service was amazing. Def. a great place for a nice and unique dining experience."

  • "My husband and I went to Flyte for first time this week. It was absolutely outstanding. Service was impeccable as well. The wine list was unusual and fabulous. Also had option of having a wine"flyte", allowing option of trying 4 different wines. The ambiance is chic and casual. We'll definitely be back!"

  • "The first two courses were decent. The dessert was so weird. Not sweet and the flavors did not work. They served something called cardamom ash with the lemon puff. It was awful if you mistook that item for something edible. Why even put it on the plate? The pastry chef is trying way too hard and is likely responsible for several bad reviews given dessert is the last thing you remember."

  • "As a vegetarian, it can be hard to find good spots to celebrate special occasions. I was surprised to find that almost half the appetizers and at least two entrees were vegan or vegetarian. In addition the wine list was incredible. Highly recommend. The deserts, unfortunately, all contained eggs but they do have daily sorbets off the menu."

  • "My party of 14 was seated in the private room that's call 'the kitchen coliseum' because of the view right into the kitchen. It was really neat to watch the food prepared and plated. Having eaten at Flyte years ago with a different chef at the helm, I expected a good dining experience, but Chef Matt really hit the ball out of the park. For appetizers, a combination of squash salad, fried egg, pickled egg, cheese plate, and charcuterie were ordered. All were good, but the squash salad and charcuterie were the stars. The trout and chicken won out with the group entree wise and every raved about them. I for one will be back for the trout! The only thing I'd suggest is to ask the server about portion size. Some items are too small to share."

  • "Another memorable dinner at Flyte. Four of us pretty much ate through the entire menu... the new charcuterie is maybe one of the best things I've ever eaten. It was all fantastic, with the exception of one overly-salty lamb-sausage dish which they quickly replaced. Had a fantastic bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir recommended by our server. Finished with one of each dessert (the chocolate one was crazy good.. super rich and creamy) and french-press coffee. Service was impeccable. Flyte stands out among the best in Nashville."

  • "Moved to the city of Nashville only a year ago, so had no idea this place was a thing. Co-worker suggested it for my wife's birthday, and what a suggestion that turned out to be! Long story short, the service was exceptional (at least our waiter was), the wine list was exceptional, and even though it was my wife's birthday, the moment they were out of the beef and substituted for rabbit (RABBIT!!), I thought it was my birthday. The cheese plate and turnip starters were delicious, and the entrees were even better than that (wife had the rainbow trout). Dessert was one of the most unique cheesecake offerings I've ever had, and that too was....I think you know where I'm going with this."

  • "Noise level rises so that it requires shouting across the table to be heard. As to service, it was excellent. Absolutely no criticisms at all. Great creative wine list with something for everyone. The starters were the best part of the meal. We shared asparagus with homemade ricotta, a charcuterie board and squash salad. All delicious. The squash salad with squash purée , warm goat cheese and ribbons of squash was a revelation. It was light, tasty and totally unexpected. We also ordered the focaccia with homemade butter. The usual bread and butter do not come to the table here. Entrees were not as successful . The beef was tough and the dish just missed somehow. The rainbow trout was deemed good. Desserts inventive and very good."

  • "My go-to spot for a business dinner to impress friends from out of town, Flyte never disappoints. This time, I stayed to the vegetarian side of the menu, and was blown away by freshness and flavor. From the squash salad through to the sorbet trio, and the perfect rosé, the entire meal said, simply, summer. The service is as three-star professional as the cuisine is inventive. A gem."

  • "We've eaten at a number of great restaurants in our lifetime, but this has to be about the best, freshest, most scrumptious farm-to-table cuisine we've ever tasted. Each dish was unique and prepared exquisitely. If we ever go back to Nashville, we might eat there every night."

  • "This is a wonderful restaurant--great food and great ambiance. This restaurant operates at a very high level."

  • "While the space is beautiful and the service very good, the creative menu is what will bring me back. I love the idea of 'farm to table' but what the chef did with the local produce was unusual and delicious. The charred radish salad made me rethink radishes. The allium soup featured perfectly fresh spring onions. The pickled egg salad was unexpected and so good. I know this phrase is overused but it was like theatre."

  • "Food was extremely over priced and not that broad. Im a foodie through and through, but I was not about to spend $13 (or around that) for a plate of asparagus! We didn't want to be rude because our server was fantastic, so my husband and I each got a glass of wine and the cheese plate appetizer, which was very unique and delicious. I understand everything is local, and I applaud that, but have more than 6 entrees and don't charge $26 for a plate of veggies. We actually, made reservations through open table for another restaurant that night. The atmosphere was very cool and modern. The service was great. The food selection was nothing to be excited about..."

  • "I went with a party of 5 and we each ordered a different entree (there are only 5 entrees in total so we sampled everything), and we were all disappointed in our food. It was definitely a let down. We also ordered 3 appetizers, one of which was "milk" bread. It was 2 1/2 rolls (I'm not kidding, they cut one in half) thrown on a plate for about $8. There is no bread served with the meal, so you have to buy it. Almost laughable. Given the entrees range in price from about $30 to $35, I expected a better meal. Whenever you walk into a restaurant at prime time and it is more than half empty, it is not a good sign."

  • "The staff was fantastic, the food devine, and the wine perfect. Truly the best meal of my life. I work at the front desk of a hotel in Midtown and will definitely be referring guests there."

  • "This really is a dining experience, not just a great place for dinner! Our waiter expertly paired wines with our appetizer, entree and dessert. They were all wines I probably would never have chosen on my own, and perfect compliments to everything we ate. The food and service both were impeccable, as has been my experience every time I've dined here. One of the best restaurants both my colleague and I have been to in a long time, and we dine out a lot all over the country."

  • "We came here during a weekend trip to Nashville and heard this is one of the top 10 in the city. When Flyte called to confirm our reservation they asked if we were celebrating anything and I told them yes, actually, our anniversary! The table was ready upon arrival and we were seated in the back corner booth, the most intimate table in the restaurant. Our server arrived shortly after and greeted us with 2 glasses of champagne, saying he heard we were celebrating. We were very pleasantly surprised! The service was beyond our expectations the entire night- we told him we'd like a long dinner and he was happy to oblige. Everything we ate was incredibly fresh, and the pastry chef made a very nice not-too-sweet dessert. We'll definitely return!!"

  • "The restaurant is an industrial part of town and the surrounding area is not much to look at. Inside the restaurant is spacious. The hostess and wait staff friendly. The waitress knew the menus inside-out. The menu selection is all organic. The dish I had had good presentation and was delicious. The price is mid to upper tiered. For adventurous foodies this is a good spot."

  • "First visit to this notable restaurant with an acclaimed chef! Our party of 9 was seated in a private room with kitchen viewing which made a fantastic food and service experience even more special. The food is fresh, perfectly prepared, inventive, and professionally presented. The wine list is the best I've seen in Nashville. Notable food items: Sourdough - made in-house; Beef Heart; Lamb Nduja, Kohlrabi Soup, Rainbow Trout & Pork entres. Will Weisiger led the service team and was outstanding."

  • "I celebrated my birthday at Flyte with a friend, and our server Todd was amazing. He was so knowledgeable about the menu and was eager to share his favorites with us. His enthusiasm and positive attitude for the food and drinks on the menu was vibrant and my friend and I adored him! He even brought out a birthday surprise and paid for my drink! Honestly, the food was great but our dinner experience was made by Todd!"

  • "We enjoyed being there, wine was great, so was much of the food, but the main pork course should never have made it to the table. Tough, dried out, clearly prepared previously and ready for the recycler and not the table. "

  • "every time we visit our daughter in Nashville from NY she's wanted to dine here. Out 1st experience (yes it was an experience, not just dinner) was outstanding! The food is farm to table. We sat in the "chef's room" which gives you a view of the kitchen and what goes on behind the scenes. It was fun, fascinating, enlightening, humbling, and allowed us to have different conversation other than what's on the front page of the news. our meal consisted of cold spring onion(?) soup, grilled asparagus w/ ricotta, & red been pancakes with a pimento cheese. All beyond delicious and nothing like I've had previously. Main course s, 1/2 of a roasted chicken, spring vegetable plate w/ pureed carrot, & bass. All also tremendous. running out of room-GO"
