Diner Reviews
  • "My husband and I loved Flyte. The food was interesting, unusual, and fantastic!! My husband thought his steak dinner was the best meal he had ever had. The fried grit cake was amazing too. I had the beet salad (done 3 ways with cheese and pistachios) and it was fantastic! I ordered a cauliflower and brussel sprouts dish for an entre. Never would have thought that would be so tasty. The chef is very creative and knows how to put together amazing flavors. Not to be missed in Nashville!"

  • "The staff was nice. Disappointed in the food and ambiance. Server kept with the new tradition of over explaining every item on the menu. Every entree seemed to be offered in a trio. Pork prepared three ways. Lamb prepared three ways. Ordered one of each and couldn't really distinguish between the three preparations in the lamb offering. My amuse bouche tasted like creme cheese and fruit spread. Cauliflower soup was good though. Ordered the chocolate brioche for dessert. Texture was off-putting. Disappointed and will not be back."

  • "The food was delicious and the wine selection is unique. We were dining before going to an event at 8:00pm. We arrived at 6pm and ordered our wine, app, and meal. The service was very friendly but the kitchen was a bit slow. When we arrived the restaurant was not very full. By the time we left it was hopping. Only issue we had was that when ordering our meal we advised we wanted to depart at 7:15p. At 6:50pm our server said meal may not be out by then since the kitchen was hit "all at once". That would not be ok and I advised our server. Our food arrived about 7:00p and we did enjoy it, though perhaps a bit rushed. We were able to pay and be out the door by 7:20p. All in all, the food was great and the service kind. Try em out."

  • "This past weekend, a friend and I chose the restaurant because of its proximity to downtown. We were attending an event that began at 8 and reservation was at 6. Promptly seated. When server visited us, explained that we needed to be out in 1.25 hours and place our order. After a few minutes we were told that due to time constraint that we would be unable to have our first course. I thought this a bit unusual since it was soup, but was ok with it. A few minutes later she arrived with the soup and continued to give us top notch service through the end of the meal. Everything was great. The food was wonderful, but the star of the meal for me was our server who made sure we were well provided."

  • "This was my birthday dinner choice and my husband was a little concerned being a traditional meat and potatoes type but he admitted to being pleasantly surprised. Both our apps and entrees were delicious and despite some prior reviews, we both felt the portions were satisfying. Our waiter was very helpful explaining the menu and I really enjoy and appreciate a restaurant and chef that try to use local ingredients to support our Tennessee farms! I had the lamb and he had the pork. Both were cooked well and flavored nicely and we hope to return soon!"

  • "A great restaurant that supports local farmers and their produce (vegetables and meat). The wait staff was very friendly and very knowledgable of the chef's offerings. The menu was only one page, but there is something for everyone. Your taste buds won't be disappointed! The wine list is very extensive. Although Flyte is off the beaten path, is is a hidden gem in Nashville. I highly recommend this restaurant. Enjoy!"

  • "Everything was in place for a great evening, but the menu choices were limited. I applaud them for farm to table and trying to keep it within 50 miles, but in very early spring the choices were very limited. I am sure it is much better in the summer and fall. The service was good and the cocktails were great."

  • "The food and service was great. We tried the winter menu and really enjoyed it. The server was very outgoing and interactive with us. The parking is a bit odd but we found we a spot just fine. I would recommend the restaurant for special occasions or special date nights. Overall it was a great experience."

  • "One of the best dinners my wife and I have ever had. The manager gave us a ride to another club when the cab service was late. Unreal."

  • "Service was intitially very slow with some confusion over which wait staff would serve table. Once that was worked out, Todd did an amazing job in explaining each item on menu in detail and his wine recommendations were very good. Califlower soup and Grit Cake were very good. Trout was excellent and Lamb was only ok as not served hot. Panna Cotta was shared over coffee and also very good. A very nice evening!"

  • "The servers were friendly, attentive and knowledgable. The wine, cocktails, food and dessert were absolutely amazing. This was, without a doubt, the best meal we have ever had. You owe it to yourself to eat at Flyte World!"

  • "If you agree with the title and would like to experience food in different tastes and textures, this is the place for you. You'll have an excellent eclectic dining experience. If you're in more of a meat and potatoes comfort food mood, I would put this off for a special occasion. Although I didn't opt for it, there is also a 6 course and nine course wine pairing where you can get what the superior chef wants to send you. There is also an opportunity to watch the kitchen and chef in action with kitchen side tables. We spied a peek of those tables. A little to noisy for my spouse, but I kinda enjoy the hustle and bustle of pro's at work! NEXT TIME!"

  • "A great dining experience. Excellent food unusual selection"

  • "The food was good but not worth the price paid. If I'm paying $50 for steak and some broccoli, I expect it to blow my mind. This was good but not amazing. App (foccacia bread) was delicious but was just bread. Overpriced for what you get."

  • "The food is simply fabulous. The plates are creative and delicious. Everything was fresh. The sunchokes with parsnip puree small plate was outstanding and the filet cooked perfectly. Our wait staff was fun and answered all of our questions, but never interrupted when our mouths were full. I can't wait to get back for another dining adventure. If I could give 6 stars, I would."

  • "I have liked Flyte for years. Initially loved it . Then less so, and I found myself going elsewhere. Well a new chief and the food is outstanding. The menus is small but the dishes are well though out and are simply superb. I cannot wait to go back. The waitstaff is top notch. The atmosphere is different and fun. Love this place."

  • "We celebrated our 16th anniversary here and were, once again, dazzled with amazing food and service. Thanks to Joe and Sarah for taking such EXCELLENT care of us and for the great recommendations on the food. Wife had the lamb and I had the vegitarian dish; both were out of this world delicious and the veggie dish has inspired my wife to come up with her own version."

  • "My friend and I were in town on vacation and came here for dinner for my birthday. The food was delicious, and the Red Bell Pepper cocktail in particular stood out. The only thing I could mention is our entrees were a bit slow to come out, but I think this is atypical as our server acknowledged and apologized severalntimes that it was a wait. We weren't in any rush though, so that was ok! The food was definitely worth the wait!"

  • "The food was well prepared and the service was excellent . It was really nice when the food came that the waiter always explained the ingredients to us . Can't wait to return to nashvilke and to see what is on the "farm""

  • "We have dined at Flyte multiple times and each visit has been consistently excellent. Wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive. Food is inventive, creatively presented, and well-prepared. From the initial amuse bouche to the crowning bite of sweet at the end, we know that our experience will always please us."

  • "Excellent as always. Our server, Will, was great. They actually back up the farm to table claim. Great spot for a business dinner."

  • "Was in town for the weekend with a plan to hit some of the top restaurants. Our original reservation at another spot fell through, luckily for us. We ended going to Flyte instead. Everything was excellent from the wine list, starters and main course. They have an extensive wine list, which almost all can be had by the glass. The Cauliflower Soup was incredible. The pork special was outstanding as was the local trout. The one area that was a drawback was the dessert. We had the bread pudding with Rye ice cream. While unique and tasty it was not a match for my tastes. I'm sure that others would love it. Overall, I would say don't miss out on Flyte if your in Nashville."

  • "Flyte should certainly be on your list of places to visit in the Gultch. Portions are small, exceedingly flavorful, and expensive. Service is top notch and it's easy to get to, unlike some other restaurants that are in a really crowded part of town."

  • "Our group of four had four different entrees - beef, lamb, trout, and pasta. Each was prepared perfectly, and the freshness of all the ingredients was apparent and outstanding. Add in the outstanding wines and excellent cocktails (the Whisky Smash especially) and great service - we wanted to make it a leisurely dinner and the staff picked up on that and timed things beautifully - and everything made for a terrific evening."

  • "My boyfriend and I went because we had a Nashville Originals coupon to use, but I'd never heard of the restaurant otherwise. I love wine and was happy to see that Nashville has a legit wine bar. I can't say enough about how great and fresh the food was, and I love that the menu lists all of the farms (and farmer) that provide the meat and produce. It's an all-encomassing experience. I wish they advertised more! They would be right up there with City House, Husk, or rolf and daughters in my book!! Definitely get the Lyonnaise for a unique and delicious small plate!"

  • "Friday my son (Alex) and I went to the Internet as we are doing monthly now an asked for "the Best Wine Bar & Restaurant in Nashville" of course Flyte was in the top ten! Alex exclaimed "hey of heard good thinks about Flyte, let's try it". As we came in we met Wil he wisely sat us at the spacious bar in the lounge area. There we gazed at all of the fantastic wines on tap, a review of the significant and very detailed wine list! The bar tender guided us though the list and Alex ordered what turned out to be a fabulous glass of wine. I selected a local craft cocktail called Nashvegas it used a home grown bourbon called Belle Meade It too was great! We enjoyed a wonderful appetizer, Alex had the pork and I had the trout, fabulous, great job!!"

  • "We returned for another anniversary dinner. Todd timed the service perfectly and his wine suggestion was spot on. A truly farm to table, seasonal menu was prepared well with layers of flavors and textures, and very pleasing presentations. The Oolong panna cotta is a diminutive dessert including tart surprises, just the right finishing touch with coffee to end a wonderful evening."

  • "Far and above the best restaurant I have eaten at in Nashville (coming from a foodie who has lived in NYC and currently in Miami) I was blown away by the wine list, the food, the presentation and the service. You just cant get honest attentive and friendly service like that outside of the South. The wine flights (flytes) are a really fun complement to the meal and very reasonably priced. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! (try the fried pork livers = heaven)"

  • "Food and service are exceptional. The stander offerings are great but I really think the magic is to ask your server what it the best thing that day from Chef Lackey. I have never been disappointed and the prices for most things are very reasonable."

  • "My wife and I had a unplanned date night for the kids went to friends for the evening. We looked at several choices in the Nashville dining scene and chose Flyte. We had wanted to try flyte for a few years and never made the time. We enjoyed Flyte very much. The service was exceptional, knowledgable and confident. As for the food, the concept of local ingredients is very popular across the US but not always well executed. Flyte executes this concept very well. You could immediately identify the freshness and quality of the food product. Every detail feels thought out very well. My wife enjoyed the grit cake and the tagalini. Both were excellent dishes. I enjoyed the roasted cauliflower soup and beef dish."
