Flying FishStill the bestFlying Fish has always been essentially the best most reliable seafood restaurant in Seattle, which I think really says something coming from a town teeming with seafood. I am someone who is mildly allergic to seafood and I'll go to flying fish any time, it's worth "the risk." Who knew that rhubarb would go well with Halibut? Where did they get asparagus the size of sequoias? Their deserts can be lacking from time to time, but who needs it when the main course is so great and the wine list never ends? If somehow you haven't been to Fly Fish or if you haven't been in a while, just do it.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMike's reviewI really like the place. ambiance is really nice, food is good and not expensive and the selections are varied enough for almost any palate. new location is nice.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat service; good foodThe best aspect of this place is the service. Our waiter was always very detail-oriented, but not intrusive. The food was good, though I would have liked to see move vegetables on the menu. That said, the roasted beet salad was outstanding. I had the king salmon for an entree, which was well cooked. Best of all is that the portions were sized well so that I had room for desert, which is well worthwhile. The rhubarb pie was outstanding, both crust and filling. The biggest downside for me was the seating, which to me was uncomfortable.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMfood good - service inconsistentThe food is always great - previous service was amazing, however the service was not crisp as usual.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinnerThis is a great place for fish. We have now been here at least six times. My wife's office is in the same building as this restaurant so we have free parking and like Flying Fish. Started with the beet salad (split) and then I had the albacore with black rice/coconut risotto with a mango salsa. My wife had some great halibut with an outstanding rhubarb compote (she let me try some). Finished up with an excellent strawberry-rhubarb pie with vanilla ice cream. Drinks were great as was the service. We did notice that the prices are sneaking up. Our favorite seafood place is Seastar which is about 3 blocks away. It used to be that Flying Fish was less expensive than Seastar but that is becoming less true. We may be switching.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMi'm an out-of-towner and tryi'm an out-of-towner and try to hit flying fish anytime i'm in town. this is the 4th time i've been here, but the 1st in their new location. i went on a sun night and the menu seemed to be pared down a bit from what i remember, but the food was still great as always.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server Roger was a proOur server Roger was a pro at managing the bar and our table - great food selection and wonderful evening.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways DeliciousAs always, the food and service at Flying Fish were excellent. My beet salad was fresh and delicious, with just the right amount of vinaigrette. The Albacore with risotto was out of this world and my husband loved his sea scallops. We are never disappointed with this restaurant!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFlying Fish is always a superbFlying Fish is always a superb dining experience and the seasonality of the menu is welcome by people who enjoy fresh, local food. They could use some improvements on the desserts though. The dessert menu was boring and unimpressive. Service was excellent and, I have to say, we were given a complimentary dessert as well, as we were celebrating a birthday. Flying fish is always my number 1 choice to celebrate special events.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FindHad dinner here on a Sunday evening and it was a treat. Food was creative and tasty. Great service.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had 9 for lunch and everyoneWe had 9 for lunch and everyone raved about the food. We shared the salt & pepper crab with noodles as an appetizer, and there was lots of mmmm, mmmm, mmms, as we ate. The calimari is some of the best in town -- light, flavorful breading, tender squid, sublime aioli. Pretty much everyone cleaned their plate for their entres, too.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat menu providing optionsGreat menu providing options for small or large plates-shared or not.
