  • "My wife and I were lucky to get a table for Saturday evening at the end of restaurant week. Ambiance was very nice. Fluke has dining on the second and third floors with views over the Harbor. Even with a busy evening, service was impeccable, staff was helpful and friendly. They have great and creative cocktails. We both chose to try the restaurant week three course meal. Lots of oohs and ahhs as we traded plates back and forth. Loved it!! Will definitely return our next visit tomNewport and would definitely recommend to friends."

  • "I've never had it and it was delicious!!! Atmosphere was great! As locals we loved it!!"

  • "Located near the water with a great view of the harbor, Fluke has a very nice wine list, unique and tasty menu items and very friendly and helpful staff. The Restaurant Week menu was creative and each choice sounded delicious, and our group of 3 chose different items, all of which were flavorful and beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the Empanaditas of Asparagus, Caramelized Onions, Feta Cheese, Roasted Tomato Chutney, and the Meyer Lemon Creme Brule. Large windows and fresh flowers created a feeling of being outdoors, while the view of the pier and harbor reminded us that we were in Newport. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We look forward to another visit."

  • "The tables are a bit close together. It's hard to have any sort of private conversation with your dinner date and be prepared to hear everything your neighbor has to say. Not as relaxing or as comfortable as I would like. Drinks and food were outstanding."

  • "Dined at fluke recently, food and service were top notch. From the first sip of my cocktail to the last bite of bread pudding everything was fantastic. Cant wait to go back and sit at the bar for a cheese plate!!"

  • "We were there for restaurant week. The food presentations and choice were wonderful. Easily accommodated my gluten free diet and added cucumber slices for a bread substitute. Would go there again and have recommended it to friends."

  • "We dinned during restaurant week and loved the selection which highlighted the fresh menu Fluke offers. In particular we enjoyed the sweet pea soup and the local Fluke dish. I also have to note that they have a few fresh mocktails. Love restaurants that offer something fun for those of us not partaking in the wine list. Which was a great collection of wines."

  • "The overall experience was very good. The cleanness and quality of the food was great. The waitress was the only issue as she was not friendly and attentive. The owner was nice and asked how are meal was. The food was a little pricey but worth it."

  • "Nice place. Great service. Expected a little more fir a 30 plus dollar entree"

  • "My husband and I thought the food delicious and well presented., the ambiance relaxed and the room welcoming. I would say the service is relaxed but efficient. We will definitely be going back."

  • "This restaurant was wonderful. The menu was diverse and interesting; I had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded so good. I ordered the pheasant (I have never had pheasant before) after asking the server about the dish. Her description was spot-on and the meal was delicious. We will be back!"

  • "Went for a special benefit dinner for the Norman Bird Sanctuary. The food was such a pleasure! The three-course menu offered quite different selections. I chose veggie empanadas, which were transformed from bistro food into an elegant and beautifully presented appetizers. The crust was as light and flaky as a pastry, and the filling equally easy on the palate, as it was not gooey and cheesy, but intriguing and complex. I had the fluke entree, which was delicious, tasty and tender, served with Israeli couscous, colorful veggie cubes and a light seafood broth with minced parsley. The chef put a lot of thought and imagination into each dish."

  • "A spectacular view over the wharf area and Newport Harbor is a great way to begin the evening. Fluke's unique menu made the decision difficult - what to order, it all looked so tempting! The appetizer was absolutely delicious, as was the entree, both with such wonderful flavor you want to savor every bite. Creme Brulee is a favorite, but Fluke made it extra special with a hint of lemon and toasted pistachios. Dining at Fluke ensures a delightful, relaxing evening with a memorable menu and atmosphere. Be sure to have a drink upstairs at the bar - even better views and a cozy atmosphere to share a drink with a friend."

  • "Would have received a five star rating, however the service was a little lacking. The food was outstanding and especially recommend the bacon wrapped dates! Would definitely go back."

  • "Great menu with variety. We had several small plates in lieu of entree. Either way can be great. Our server Dennis was superb."

  • "Food is good, but you can get much better in quality and quantity somewhere else for the price you pay. You pay for the ambience and the service. The place is best to have a couple of drinks and maybe an appetizer."

  • "The food and drinks are amazing. The fresh squeezed juice makes such a difference. The service is great and the food is wonderful! Definitely try here when you visit Newport!"

  • "Fluke was recommended by the Inn we stayed at in Newport and it did not disappoint. It was husband's birthday and they gave him just the right amount of care and attention. The food was excellent. I had the endive and radicchio salad to start, a prefect starter course. I followed with the seared scallops which were divine! I overheard the table next to us carrying on about the scallops as well. I have to say they rank as one of the top three scallop dishes of my life. I would plan a return visit here without hesitation and bring my friends. The staff handled the post St. Patrick's day parade crowd with grace and good nature."

  • "Best dining experience I have had in quite some time. The food was magnificent! Every bite of everything I tried was its own amazing little dining experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to friends."

  • "Plentiful, delicious and enjoyable. Our family of four (two adult children, my wife and me) sampled 10 different small plates and snacks and we were pleasantly full. From scrumptious Brussels sprouts to awesome quail, oysters and salads. We had fun sharing stories and food. The staff was fun and available without hovering. We've never been disappointed since our first visit in 2007. We plan to return when we come back to Newport."

  • "My husband and I dine out quite frequently and often drive to Newport for Mass. This has become one of out favorites. We have sat at the bar both times; the bartenders were great!!!! Our food was simply delicious."

  • "Our party of 4 was quickly accommodated at a lovely table by the windows overlooking the bay. The waiter was always present without being disruptive. He was very knowledgeable about the dishes and made recommendations based on our gluten free needs. The stuffed dates were very good for starters. We tried the monkfish, scallops, and risotto main courses. All were very nicely done, perfectly cooked and presented. Overall a wonderful evening. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "It was by chance that we found this hidden gem! The service is by far, outstanding! They are extremely attentive, but not in your face. We ordered a few of the "small plates", veal meatballs, shrimp, french fries and the candied nuts & marinated olives. Everything was delicious! The best meatballs ever! They have a great, fully stocked bar upstairs, with really friendly people! We'll definitely be back!"

  • "One of the best chefs in Newport.... Food is always excellent. The owners, the Callaghans, will bend over backwards to make your visit a pleasant one. It's a little out of sight (up some stairs) from a very busy, popular area, and should not be overlooked, because it's a hidden gem."

  • "We braved a blizzard to get to our reservation, it was well worth it let me tell ya. From the fire dancer martinis to small plates of mainemussels and mushroom tart, to main courses of pheasant and beef tenderloin cooked to perfection to blood orange creme brule., this place was FANTASTIC. Ambience was extraordinary, staff was amazing and they also capped our meal off with complimentary glasses of dessert moscato.....couldnt have asked for a better anniversary dinner..."

  • "Visited Fluke for NYE dinner, our group was 6 people. Decor is simple, very light and nautical in feel (the water view doesn't hurt either!). The menu was diverse and creative. Although our party included some vegetarians, there were options for everyone. All to say, the food was wonderful! We had read good things about the restaurant, but it exceeded expectations. The cuisine was fresh and local, with wonderful flavor. Portion sizes are good. Some dishes we sampled: rabbit linguine; yellow beet and goat cheese gratin (side); crispy wellington,ma oysters on the 1/2 shell (appetizer), quail; and venison. Excellent cocktails and wine, too. The entire staff was helpful and friendly. Would make a great spot for a date/romantic evening."

  • "The nice way to give an overview of our visit was that the service was too attentive which resulted in too many table visits and a lot of unneeded interruptions. It also made me feel quite rushed and unable to enjoy my food and drink. I'm glad we went and had a chance to check it out. It is, after all, a very lovely place. However, I am unsure if we will go back. I know for certain that if we do, I will be very clear from the onset that we do not want the constant plate clearing and other interruptions. The hovering was the most memorable part of our visit and left a negative imprint on our minds. The food was fine but the constant interruptions were abominable."

  • "As always, we had a wonderful experience at Fluke. From the Fire Dancer cocktail to the coffee and dessert, the entire experience was delicious in every way. We had the Short Ribs and Fluke entrees which were cooked to perfection. The owners are so obliging and genuinely kind, making our visits there special every time. Consistently excellent."

  • "Quail was amazing, pheasant good, scallops beyond compare! The drinks and desserts were exquisite. Since the menu changes all the time, you are guaranteed at least one amazing dish."

  • "Since we discovered it shortly after they opened, Fluke has become one of our favorite places to eat out. The food is largely local, very fresh, and prepared expertly. They change up the menu frequently, so you can never get bored. They also do an excellent job of catering to my gluten intolerance. They actually took to marking the items on the menu that contain gluten, as opposed to the other way round, for most places. Most dishes they will prepare in an alternate way to remove the glutinous item and it is always fantastic."

  • "My wife and I decided to check this place out after a couple years of passing by without stopping in. It was fantastic. Great wine list, food was excellent, and a good scene. We'll look forward to going back sometime."

  • "First discovered Fluke (by accident) back in 2010. Loved it then, so we had to revisit upon returning to Newport three years later. And we were not disappointed! The food is still excellent and the service superb. A meal at Fluke will be a part of any future trips to Newport!"

  • "Fluke is one of the best restaurant recommendations we've received. We dined there this past summer while staying in Newport and then revisited this past weekend. Wonderful on every level."
    Dined on 12/7/2013
  • "Fluke is a gem. While one might expect Bowen's Wharf to be completely touristy, this retreat from the wharf feels private and exclusive -- but make your reservation in advance! Creative cocktails and an edited, ever-changing menu means it may be impossible to eat the same meal here twice. Warm, elegantly minimalist dining room, with quirky corners, angles and windows overlooking the waterfront. Excellent unobstrusive service. For foodies, it is possible to eat your way through the menu ordering an app, small plate and a main dish and maybe share dessert too. We'll be back. Remains high on our list after a second visit."

  • "Driving in from Boston proved to be a nightmare; encountering 3 accidents and 3 hours later had us 90 minutes late for our reservation. Jeff the owner told us that we would not lose our reservation and he’d have a drink ready for our arrival. He was true to his word. His wife Geremie and staff couldn't have been more affable and accommodating. The crispy oysters were out of this world and the roasted chicken and pan seared scallops made our night. The cocktail and wine list was plentiful as well as affordable. Great place to relax and be comfortable. The owners are hands on and the staff is the best."
