A word from Flour - Italian Kitchen
Inspired by the rustic simplicity of Italian cuisine, Chef Paul Minnillo offers Italian food to his new culinary venture in Cleveland, Ohio. From Flour’s larder, he creates his own house-cured meats, hand-crafted artisanal cheeses, pastas, neopolitan wood-fired pizzas and rustic Italian specialities. Flour seeks the freshest locally raised and homegrown products harvested at their seasonal peak. We do offer first come first serve patio seating. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "still the best overall restaurant in Cleveland in my view. something for everyone. rustic yet sophisticated food pairings."

  • "We are frequent diners here. First time for Sunday dinner. A lot of families, busy bar. Food didn't miss a beat. Chicken Parmigiana is served only on Sunday's and well worth the trip."

  • "Very enjoyable evening. The food and service were excellent."

  • "Stuffed peppers and truffle tater tots (a side with the 14 oz CAB strip) were outstanding. Everything else was very good. Would definitely recommend."

  • "Went back to Flour for an early dinner w/kids and had a great time. The bread was amazing. Dinner overall was great and the short rib went to top 2 in the city in my book (along w/Fahrenheit) The polenta was creamy and flavorful and all the pizzas were tasty as well with crunchy crusts. Looking forward to next trip back."

  • "The place bills itself as "Rustic Italian" but seems to have gone out of its way to be something else altogether - dishes were made overly complex for no reason, with ingredients that would not be used in a rustic Italian kitchen. The food was OK, but not memorable or as billed. Service was marginal, found myself looking for the waitress several times for simple stuff. Interior is modern with lots of hard surfaces that served to amplify screaming kids - kids (2) screaming are not the restaurants fault, but aoustics are."

  • "The think overall the restaurant is vibrant and has a great appeal. We were welcome both when we entered and left. Our server Danielle was also a bit pleasant who accommodated our every need especially our 2 girls. Our appetizers were great and our 2 girls pizza was pretty good. Our only issues lied with both Kim and my dinner which both were very bland and virtually flavorless. Stuff happens. What was notable was the manager Kevin coming up to say hello and he asked about our experience and we shared with him how terrible our dinners were but we were still going to come back. Kevin was empathetic and helped support our belief that we should go back and offered to help with menu selections next time around."

  • "The entire dining experience was great...the owner/chef even stopped by to say hello. I've been there quite often for lunch and as this being my first dinner here I was happy the menu only changed slightly for the nightime crowd. I will be back. On another note, I made my reservation thru Open Table about 8pm Tuesday, the night before, but I didn't get my email confirmation until Thursday at 9pm. You may want to fix that."

  • "I had heard rave reviews about Flour before my wife and I visited for dinner. Our reservation was for 7:15 and we were seated about 5 minutes or so afterwards. The service was a bit iffy, I'm not sure if they were short-staffed or not but it seemed to take a bit longer than I would have preferred. The service was very friendly and they started off filling my water glass very quickly but much less often as the meal progressed. The appetizer that we had was the calamari and it was excellent. My wife had the spaghetti and clams and she was raving about how delicious it was. I had the pepperoni piza and I consider myself quite the conousieur but I was not impressed by the pizza. I prefer NY style but the cheese was way too sharp & overcooked."

  • "One of the very best restaurants in Cleveland Pastas and pizzas are amazing; the eggplant "meatballs" are something you will want to try Great ambiance and service We will be back!"

  • "It seems all restaurants that sell wine triple the retail price. Here I'm guessing it's quadruple. Food prices are on the high side but not crazy. Food is good and kitchen is flexible. Waitstaff needs training and an interest in the customers. Hoping our server is the exception."

  • "I had a late evening reservation (10p) and was seated in the bar area. There were still a fair number of patrons at this hour. The basketball game was on (March Madness). I enjoyed watching it as I have yet to get cable hook-up since moving back from NC. This is my 2nd time dining here. The food is awesome. The menu is very limited but they do it all well. Food is fresh and well presented. I shall return here."

  • "Busy, vibrant bar scene, superb food, staff that gives their all . . . Something's happening here. Ordered funghi pizza, meat & cheese boards, fried olives, tagliatelle bolognese, short rib. Outstanding. Great wine list. Not first timers to Flour. They've proven themselves! And we will keep returning."

  • "The staff at this restaurant are exceptionally friendly and courteous. We ordered pizza, salmon and tenderloin and everything was delicious! Service, food, atmosphere were all extraordinary! Thank you!"

  • "I have dined at many fine dining establishments. Flour rates at the very top of them. The staff and management is well trained and knowledgeable in the service and culinary arts. You become the most important guest they have the instant you arrive. The food is beyond description. Perfectly planned, prepaired and executed. Very likely the most well blended flavors available in Ohio. The relaxed and no rush atmosphere invites the guest to properly enjoy their experience and settle into their dining, generally only available in the finest European reasturants. For those who desire world class dining, and flawless attention to the guest experience, Then Flour should NOT be missed."

  • "Fresh ingredients seasoned just right. An enjoyable meal. Staff doesn't rush you. Plenty of time to eat and conduct a meeting."

  • "The service was attentive but not rushed. The charcuterie board was delicious, with 3 meats, each a distinctly different flavor and accompanied with a card naming and describing each meat and cheese. The pasta bolognese was cooked to perfection and the scallops tender and flavorful. We would return for sure."

  • "Our second time at Flour was somewhat disappointing. The appetizer, chorizo-stuffed medjool dates, was the highlight, followed by the bread, an excellent and fresh sourdough. The rest of the meal was too salty and the noise level gave me a headache. With one glass of wine and no dessert, the bill was over $60, which seemed high for such an average evening out. Sorry, Flour, but we won't be in a hurry to come back."

  • "Once you get over the odd location for Flour, the interior is welcome and comfortable, if a bit loud. The menu has a nice variety of food, all of it inventive and executed very well. The only quibbles were what seemed to be an artificially slowed service and a lackluster slate of dessert offerings. Overall, a very good experience and one I'd try again."

  • "Prompt service, creative, unusual and tasty menu selections and a nice wine list. I had noted in advance that this was my wedding anniversary dinner, and we were greeted at our table by complimentary flutes of champagne...a nice touch !"

  • "Flour is a cool place - with an eclectic group of diners. The bar was hopping. The wait staff was fantastic. In our party of 5, 4 of us had the same dinner - the short ribs. While they were delicious, 2 of us had pieces with a lot of fat. You had to pick through it to try to find the meat. We decided we should have all tried a different meal, and regret that we didn't to get a better point of view on the offerings."

  • "My wife and I had heard consistently great things so decided to try it out. The food was outstanding...I had the mussels appetizer and the were very flavorable and done perfectly. My wife had the kale salad and raved about it. Main courses were equally well done. Will definitely go back!"

  • "We were celebrating a birthday. Three generations were represented and everyone found an item on the menu which they enjoyed. Waitress was attentive to our needs and her recommendations were good. Timing of food service was good. Food was tasty with thoughtful added touches and flavors."

  • "It's a true accomplishment when a restaurant provides great food and excellent service. I have yet to be disappointed in any of the foodI have had thus far. As a party of 8 we sampled an assortment of dishes; calamari, Prosciutto stuffed dates, goat cheese stuffed olives for appetizers - which were all very good. Their Caesar salad is amazing. The dressing is the perfect blend of ingredients (which most restaurants miss the mark). For those who ordered the linguine and clams, it was a bit dry this time round. Notably delicious was the Pork Agnolotti. The only mistake was we didn't order the full portion. I cannot say enough about our server Jenna. She was simply perfect. She was pleasant, helpful and on top of everything. Bravo to Flour!"

  • "The short ribs were fine once I found them under the mound of green garnish. The polenta was very soft and overcooked with no flavor."

  • "Flour is consistently serving authentic Italian Food and one of the few places in town that makes thin crust Italian pizzas that taste just like in Italy. Their main meat dishes have always been very tasty. I have been disappointed with the risottos in general - they lack seasoning and are kind of bland. The pasta specials are a hit or miss but the regular pasta dishes are always yummy (although their vongole is not the best I have eaten and I daresay I make it better myself). Their lunch squash soup in the fall was one of the best I ever had. Flour will always be a place where we will enjoy going for dinner because it is closeby and the food very predictable. The wine menu is diverse, the service always impeccable and the bathrooms clean."

  • "everything was great. I took my sister's mother-in-law out to dinner - she is 87 - and the staff were all very helpful and attentive. Great food, great martini - and we weren't rushed. Thank you!"

  • "When Flour first started, the place was the rage of the East Side. We wen often for pizza, the rustic dishes, calamari, pork belly, "homemade" pastas. Then something happened - service went south, food was cold, the place was crowded, noisy. There were better places to go nearby. After almost a year we tried again. Great! Caesar salad was traditional as was the Italian Wedding soup. The spare ribs were perfectly seasoned and the polenta was creamy. The one pizza was..."Italian?" Fantastic. Hope they keep it up."
