A word from Flour - Italian Kitchen
Inspired by the rustic simplicity of Italian cuisine, Chef Paul Minnillo offers Italian food to his new culinary venture in Cleveland, Ohio. From Flour’s larder, he creates his own house-cured meats, hand-crafted artisanal cheeses, pastas, neopolitan wood-fired pizzas and rustic Italian specialities. Flour seeks the freshest locally raised and homegrown products harvested at their seasonal peak. We do offer first come first serve patio seating. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Enjoyed another good meal; unfortunately we were seated in the bar next to a table of four loud ladies (you know it's bad when the 8 and 10 year olds complain about the noise and when the server rolls her eyes; unfortunately they don't have a loud on the rating scale) so conversation was pretty non existent which was a bummer. Two of us enjoyed the pizzas, one had the John Dory fish special and another the steak (which I got to taste and was outstanding). I love the George Kozman paintings that are adorning the walls in the dining room."

  • "We recently went for a 3 generation dinner with family. The food was quite good if not inspired, the service was excellent. I don't love Flour however because even the children can't hear when it's busy. Noise bounces tremendously here. Props for carpeting the underside if the tables however, I think it helps!"

  • "The food was good, but not great. Love the 1/2 price bottles of wine on Tuesdays. Veal Parm with buffalo mozz was inspired."

  • "Our group had a great experience. We had salads, appetizers, and pizzas, and all were happy with their choice."

  • "Food was good, I had the veal parmesan, veal was very tender, sauce was good,my wife got the spaghetti and clam sauce, clams were good but she thought the sauce was greasy, My waitress was nice, but I asked the busgirl for a couple of small appetizer dishes and never got them."

  • "Flour is so reliable. The service is always excellent. The regularly updated menu delivers dishes that are just as delicious as described. The Grilled Kale Salad is my new summer favorite and the Chorizo Dates and Gnocchi are excellent. I highly recommend the COHO and Wild Hog for red wine lovers. Martinis are great and the cocktail list is very creative."

  • "The restaurant is very noisy but fun and the food is really very good, especially the pizzas."

  • "We went here for the first time for our Saturday night "date". Drinks are way too expensive. The service was prompt enough and attentive. I didn't like the wine I chose, so it was replaced with no questions asked. As an appetizer we had calamari - I wish I had it all to myself! Really light, crispy and delicious. The only thing they can improve on is give more of that marinara sauce - the amount it comes with is rather inadiquate. For entres we had a fungi pizza (fantastic!) and beef cheek stuffed pasta - not so good. Too much dough and not enough cheek - waste of calories. Bread comes from Pittsburgh(?!?!) and isn't good. But I would definitely go back to try some other stuff on the menu."

  • "We ordered date wrapped appetizers with marinara sauce. Was beyond awesome!!! Then ordered flat bread pizza which was great as well. Then, we topped it off with Pestachio cake. Restaurant did great job to accommodate my food allergies and I felt special and enjoyed every minute of it. Great birthday night."

  • "I enjoyed lunch at Flour. I had the soup and salad combo (which by the way is a great value at $10!) with the Italian Wedding Soup and Cesar Salad. The soup was delicious, but a bit too salty for my taste. The salad was good - they used to serve it with a poached egg on top but have eliminated that."

  • "Dinner Saturday night was delicious...We were so fortunate to have Matthew and Michael as our servers..Terrific service and they truly made the evening very enjoyable from start to finish...My one and only complaint of this lovely restaurant is the noise level....We tried the back room which is carpeted and it wasn't any quieter...Very hard to hear in this restaurant on busy evenings...so beware. Highly recommend the Short Ribs and the Salmon Entrees!"

  • "I love going to Flour for lunch. I asked my high school girl friends to have lunch there because the food is great & it is a cool venue. They loved their meal & thought the pizza was the best they've had! I love the fresh salad & bread. The desert (pistachio cakes) was amazing. I recommended Flour because you aren't rushed there it is a perfect place for lunch & visiting!"

  • "Anyone who tries Flour for Sunday Brunch will leave completely satisfied! Great menu, great service and overall a great dining experience! There was not one menu item that we ordered that we didn't love. The breakfast pizza and the eggs benedict were two of our favorites!"

  • "First time at Flour, did not find the dinner menu particularly inspiring. Service was just right, not pushy or rushed. Was disappointed in the pizza I ordered - sauce was not flavorful and basil was just charred leaves."

  • "Great evening at Flour with a party of 6...we had outstanding service and the everyone LOVED their meals...My husband said it was the BEST salmon he's had!...He loved the way it was prepared and served...Other's had the braised short ribs and sod shell crab....Outstanding was the unanimous opinion by all"

  • "So I had a friend over for lunch at Flour and we settled down to have a light soup and sandwich affair. The white bean soup - while elegantly constructed - with tomato and chard and white beans disappointed in the extreme - every single bean I bit into was either undercooked or not cooked through. I realize you may think beans are like pasta and they can be al dente but I disagree - not really nice to have the bean skin peel off in your mouth because it is not cooked properly. I distinctly remember (and my companion confirmed) that I ordered a grilled veggie Panini. Only after I bit into it twice and separated the bread - did I discover that I was served a P.L.T. with bacon - seeing how I am a vegetarian - there was no excuse for it!"

  • "Flour is just OK. Paul Minnillo is an amazing chef but the concept doesn't allow him to exercise his immense talents. The food is good but not great like it was at the Baricelli."

  • "The food and service were top shelf. The only drawback was the noise level was high due to high ceilings and bare floors."

  • "To celebrate a special occasion this is the place!!! We enjoyed a pizza to start, and the entrée that was listed on Yelp, was perfect... the short ribs!!! The gnocchi was also a hit and would highly recommend. We will be back - one of the top spots in the CLE food scene. "

  • "This was our second time at Flour. As with the first time we had a server who was excellent, providing wonderful feedback and suggestions about the menu. She was attentive to our needs. The food came swiftly from the kitchen, and was very good. Prices are not cheap, but the portion size was quite acceptable, and the quality of the food was very good. Let's put it this way... we enjoyed it enough the first time to come back, and we enjoyed our meal and service equally the second time-- we will be back to enjoy more. Suggestion: if you're there as a couple, split two smaller portions of the pasta, entitling you to a chance to try more delectables off the menu."

  • "My wife and I both orderd the braised beef ribs and they were awesome! Seasoned to perfection. Our waitress was fun and very knowlegdeable about the menu. After she was done explaining how the beef ribs were prepared, we had to order them. Awesome experience! Would definitely go back!"

  • "Very little sound absorbing material and lots of diners in a big space makes for uncomfortable noise. The food though, has returned to the better level of the old days when Flour first opened. Great pizza, inventive specials...beef cheek tortellini, a good wine list (priced on the high side), make Flour a place you need to try. Service though can be uneven. There are several restaurants with great wine lists and inventive menus at better prices and more professional staff in the area."

  • "There is a lot so sausage, chorizo, salami on the menu which limits choice. "

  • "I never like to leave negative reviews but I felt compelled to share my expirence. I dined in for lunch and the problems started almost immediately. It took at least ten minutes from the the time I was seated until any waitstaff came by. The waitress was completely unattentive. It also probably took almost thirty minutes to get a Caesar salad and an appetizer. Both dishes were completely underwhelming. And expensive. I don't mind paying more for a quality dish, but I would've been more satisfied with a grocery store salad bar. It was one of the worst all-around expirence I've ever had at an opentable restaurant. I highly doubt I will ever give it another chance, and I certainly will never take a client there."

  • "This was our second visit to Flour, and it was no better or worse. The Caesar chicken salad had the smallest amount of chicken breast I'd ever seen, thought the salad was fresh and well-dressed. There was not much on the menu that appealed to us, but that could just be our tastes. With all the lunch options in the area, I'd choose another restaurant before returning here. "

  • "With the exception of the Veal Chop (needs a lot more quality control) the rest of the meal was excellent and the service was above average."

  • "Why make a reservation when its not honored? arrived to a 30 minute wait along with others. Food arrived after a long wait cold. Food was average but moderately priced and ample portions. Will not return on weekends or peak time."
