Flour and Vine Restaurant & Wine BarWell doneWas impressed by the unique menu and good service. Drinks were unique and really good too. Well done.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FindI was pleasantly surprised with Flour and Vine. The wine selection and menu were both excellent and included slight twists on classic cuisines. It is a great place to try for something different.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFine Food-Fine Service-Good PricesVery, very impressed with this recent (spring 2013) and notable entry into Austin food scene. Quite well-prepared food, attractive plating, attentive service and reasonable prices. Fab location for pairing fine meal with Zach Theater, Saxon Pub or anything downtown right over Lamar Bridge. People in 'hood now have distinctive and quality alternative to usual suspects on B Springs Road. Pork chop entree with apple chutney was outstanding, grilled shrimp and grits a true winner. Substantial number wine offerings ask for further exploration. Very pleased with FNV, can't wait to go back.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOur group of ten loved diningOur group of ten loved dining at Flour and Vine. We liked the menu, our food selections and the service. Definitely will return!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a pretty nice diningWe had a pretty nice dining experience. The food was very good as was the service. Unfortunately, it was way too loud to carry on a normal conversation. Although the piano player and singer are a nice touch, the room is just too small to have that much added background noise. I would rather have some nice, soft music being piped into the room in the background. Another issue: The bench seats are in need of some cushioning. They are extremely hard and get uncomfortable VERY fast!
We will probably give this place another chance, but I truly hope they make these changes if they want us to become loyal customers.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a nice surprise rightWhat a nice surprise right here in the neighborhood. Lovely, understated ambiance, nice music, and wonderful food at a reasonable price. The dessert, Zeppoli, is not to be missed.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe chose this restaurant forWe chose this restaurant for dinner. The staff was attentive, and our waitress was knowledgable and helpful. The pacing of the meal was perfect. The presentation of the food was beautiful. We had trout and a steak, both were delicious. We also experienced dessert too, the chocolate cake was heavy but rich, and the orange tart was not so orangey, just an average tart. Both tasted good though.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe mac-n-cheese was yummy. The mac-n-cheese was yummy. The pork chop good though the chutney was a bit sweet. The music is nice but limits ability to chat.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe speakeasy theme pairedThe speakeasy theme paired with delicious food and cocktails made for a new, exciting, and enjoyable dining experience. The staff was very welcoming and attentive throughout our entire meal. I absolutely loved the music, and they have some very talented singers. The food was presented nicely, and I felt like the portions were adequate. I definitely recommend starting off with the Crayfish Mac and Cheese. Delicious!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEat Here.EAT HERE.
Food: I had the Grilled Vegetable Lasagna and it was delicious. Other people in my party had the Pecan Crusted Ruby Trout, the Bone-In Short Ribs and the the Drum In Parchment. They each said it was fantastic. I could tell they were not just being polite, because I suggested we eat here. No one had any food left on their plate. There was one exception... the Grilled Shrimp & Grits were pretty dry as grits go.
Service/Ambiance: Darn good, very attentive. The waitresses take tuns singing and they were all pretty good. Also, we were at this restaurant for about 3 hours and the piano player never took a break.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu is slanted towardThe menu is slanted toward Italian/mediterranean but they do have some other style dishes. I rolled the dice and tried the drum in parchment with mushrooms and bok choy with a soy glaze and...It was excellent! The Lamb Bolognese was very good as well. They have flatbread appetizers and we enjoyed the namesake 'Flour and Vine' version. The wine list is not overwhelming and they had some very nice, reasonably priced selections by the glass and bottle. I think the real bonus to the place is that they have a house piano and entertainment will be a part of what they offer, from solo piano to small groups. Three of the waitresses are actually singers and a few even sang the night we were there.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSplendid new establishment!Everything was perfect for this place. We sat out on the patio, which was very clean and stylish. The service was impeccable too, they really wanted to ensure you were well looked after. Even when they didn't have something on the menu that I asked for, they offered (without my asking them to) to have the chef prepare it special...and it was still delicious despite being an off menu item. This place is certainly recommended. Its a fun atmosphere and great for glass of wine after work or a wonderful lunch or dinner.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
