  • "Great food.Comfortable seating, open layout. We went early 6:30. Easy parking.Perfect option to avoid the downtown crazy"

  • "We enjoyed our evening out at Flour & Vine! They have a nice wine list and cocktail menu. They have many small plates to choose from, and a nice selection of 'big' plate dinners. I had the black drum in parchment, and it was perfect! My husband had the hangar steak, and it was delicious as well. There was a woman singing and playing the piano, which was nice. It wasn't too loud or too quiet- just right. We ate inside, but they have a nice large patio with many tables."

  • "Flour and Vine is a must. Great food, great atmosphere, fantastic service - we really couldn't fault it at all. We arrived a little late for our reservation but it was no trouble, there was none of the snooty attitude you get at some places. The food was fantastic. There were 4 of us in our party and we all had different main courses. We each tried each others, each one was an amazing burst of flavor with nothing too over powering. The wine was great and reasonably priced. This was a great night out. Thank you!"

  • "I went to Flour and Vine with two other ladies for a happy hour. They had a good selection of cocktails and wine on the happy hour menu, and all of the food was delicious. We had enough just from the happy hour menu to make up a meal, and it was all well priced."

  • "The food was excellent. Service was good with the exception that the salad and entree arrived at the same time; the wait did apologize. The entree cooled before we finished the salad. The wine was excellent and affordable. Overall the dining experience was very good, and we'll return to the restaurant."

  • "we found this restaurant through OpenTable and it did not disappoint. I suggest the shrimp appetizer and the snapper entre. Both were unique and flavorful."

  • "I've been to Flour and Vice a couple times now and have REALLY enjoyed the food both times. I got the pork chop this time and it was excellent. The prefect amount of spices without over powering the natural taste of the food."

  • "Finally, a really good new restaurant in Foodie Crazed Austin that serves great food for a fair price without pretension. And the wine list is even reasonable, setting it even further above the rest of the crowd. It's a new favorite place."

  • "Kudos to the chef and wait staff for a very pleasant experience. The fried green tomatoes are excellent as well as the crispy skin striped bass. The bread pudding left something to be desired, perhaps a bit dry."

  • "Googled restaurants in the area we were staying in. Chose this little gem. Drinks were great. Food was tasty and unique! Goat cheese tart was so yummy! Service was great! Highly recommend."

  • "My partner scheduled my 60th birthday party with 25 friends at Flour and Vine. The service was amazing. They took such good care of us and made the event so special. Great cocktails and good wine list. You will enjoy this place."

  • "Was a very good dinner for the wife and I. Service was excellent, was quiet enough to have a conversation, was a good find."

  • "Most of our food was tasty and cooked well. Fried green tomatoes were so good and generous portions and flatbread very good. My main dish was the best by far, the pork chop. Cooked to perfection, moist, tender and great chard and sweet potato sides. We shared the bread pudding, which was excellent! This was some of the best we had ever had, and served differently, but really enjoyed. Also, if it is hard for you to hear, you will have trouble visiting with your table guests. It was very noisy for us to talk and hear each other, until three tables left. You can tell they have had noise issues, as there were ceiling acoustics, but has not solved the noise level yet!"

  • "The small plates and the larger ones offer a nice and eclectic selection as does the wine list. The service is very attentive. The seats by the windows offer a good view of urban life. The singer and piano player has a very nice voice and I like her selection of tunes. It also has a nice bar area. You need to be prepared though that it is hard to have a conversation. With the neighborhood and Zac near by I would think this resturant will survive."

  • "We love Flour and Vine as a place we can depend on a delicious dinner and nice glass of wine before taking in a performance at the Zach. We always find a nice variety of small and large plates on the menu and everything we have tried has been tasty and served with attention to presentation. Service is friendly and helpful."

  • "My husband and I rarely are able to go out without kids so we decided to try a new place the day after Valentine's Day. We got parking right out front and were seated promptly at our reservation time. Unfortunately it was right in between 2 couples. I could extend my arms and almost touch the person next to me. I do not mind family style seating, but I'd like to know beforehand. Seems like a table could be removed to give couples extra room. The food was very good (pork chop), but my husband's fish portion was very small. Maybe we aren't use to the portions at higher end restaurants, but we ended up going somewhere else for dessert and more dinner because we left hungry. They had a WHOLE fish on their menu for $6 more than F&V's."

  • "We took advantage of the restaurant's location to add a nice dinner to the matinee theatre performance we caught at the Zach. Our waiter/host's service was friendly and welcoming. We greatly enjoyed the macaroni & cheese small plate and the intriguing chicken canoli. My only complaint about the latter is that it would benefit from a bit more marinara. I had the snapper this time, which was great. My companion had the spinach lamb-ragout linguini, and especially enjoyed the lamb ragout in the dish. Our show at the Zach ran longer than expected, so we had to cut our dinner short of dessert, but we hope to try that next time."

  • "My boyfriend took me here for Valentine's Day this year. We were the last reservation of the evening (we booked a week beforehand, but we knew that was too late!). Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I only have two complaints: First, one of the courses ran out of an item that I really was looking forward to trying. The other issue was the dessert. It consisted of chocolate mousse and red velvet cake. The cake tasted like it had been out all night. It was dry and becoming a bit stale. The mousse, however, was fabulous... as was the rest of the meal. I realize we were the last reservation of the evening, but the kitchen should care down to every last dish that is served. The front of house service, on the up side, was perfect."

  • "I loved the romantic setting of the restaurant. The service was timely and very good. I enjoyed the piano playing during the dinner, not too loud, just the right touch, with different genres. The presentation of the courses was outstanding. The portion sizes were right on. The Beef Wellington was beautifully done but tough. The Red Snapper was tasty. I definitely will return to try other dishes and give this little jewel another try!"

  • "We were attending a Wednesday night show at the ZACH theater and due to I-35 traffic (no surprise there), were running very late for our reservation and the show. We called in to let them know and they said no problem. Upon arrival, they sat us quickly and our waitress was VERY quick about getting us fed and out the door once she knew our situation. I'm only sad we could not linger and try more of their dishes because what we were able to "hork down" was delicious! The interior was modern and lit just right for a very romantic dinner if we were not in a huge rush. We will be going back as soon as we can!"

  • "Service was decent, but onions in salad were so pungent the flair stayed in my mouth until I got home and bridged my teeth. I ordered the beet salad, but where were the beets? Not what I expected. The bass wad pretty good, but the drum fish was overcooked and tasted like chicken. Not what I wanted on a date night with my wife."

  • "I have been to Flour and Wine several times before, and I think the food is very tasty with ingredients and flavors that are very successfully combined This was the first time I went to the restaurant before a performance (specifically this past week's opera at the Long Center). Customers at other tables seemed to be there for the same occasion. That said, the service was exquisite: the food came out really fast, much faster than other times I have been there. It seemed as if they had doubled their staff to attend to the needs of this specific crowd."

  • "I took my boss, who loves fine restaurants, and three others to Flour & Vine on Wednesday night. Everyone was quite happy. Three of us got the black drum in parchment. It was lovely, if a little peppery for me. The jasmine rice with it was excellent. Our guest from D.C. raved about the lamb ragu linguini dish and the old fashioned cocktail the bartender made for her. The pork chop and mac & cheese were also excellent. A very nice time for all. The seating is a bit hard and dining room a bit spare, but the food outshines them. Our server was also very friendly, which is always welcome. I want to try the pan seared snapper next time, and take my husband for dinner before a show at the Zach theater, which is across the street."

  • "My wife means the world to me, and after 11 years of marriage and nearly 20 years of being together, it's not easy for us to share new dining experiences. When we moved from New York -- one of the worldwide food meccas -- to Austin, our choices became a bit more limited. However, as anyone who watches the Food Network knows, Austin has become a bit of a mini-Mecca, as well. We have a plethora of creative chefs, and good restaurants abound. This year for her birthday, my lovely bride chose a place we'd never been -- Flour and Vine -- in the South Lamar neighborhood. Great food and good art on the walls. Try the pork chops served on a sweet potato cake. For a starter, the fried brie with habanero honey was outstanding. Bread pudding!"

  • "Our reserved table wasn't ready so we were asked to wait at the bar where we were not asked if we wanted a drink at all. Once seated, the server was very attentive and no one's glass was ever empty. The honey brie was fantastic and my beef wellington was perfectly done, but my friend did not enjoy her snapper. no room was saved for dessert. I will try it again, perhaps for happy hour or lunch and try some of the small plates."

  • "My best friend and I went here on a Thursday night. I did that really annoying thing where I told the server to choose a red wine for me because I was being indecisive. He asked a bit about what I did and did not like, and proceeded to bring a tasting of one he chose. I was familiar with this and it is one I really enjoy, but he wanted me to try something new. He brought another tasting of a nice smokey blend that went very well with the chicken Marsala I ordered. The fried green tomatoes were a perfect starter, but the star of the meal was the bread pudding for dessert. It was one of the best desserts I have ever had!"

  • "went to the restaurant before a show at the long center. We got some apps and entrees and they were quite tasty. A nice simple menu with a long list of wines. Happy Hour menu was only available at the bar, not at the main restaurant."

  • "First time at Flour & Vine checking out a reasonably priced pre fixe New Year's Eve menu. Right off the bat we were disappointed to be told the wine we chose from their nicely put together (but not extensive) list wasn't available. Our server was young and friendly but inexperienced. Whether it was her inexperience or a bored kitchen staff (there were only two other tables of diners at the time) the courses came out way too quickly and we felt as though we were being rushed to finish, until we said something. The food was innovative and really well-presented, not to mention quite delicious. A nice dinner but we'll give F&V a while longer to work out the service kinks."

  • "This place is awesome! They have a great looking outside seating area; however, it was cold when we went so that was not an option, but I would definitely want to try it when the weather is better. The host (who was also our waitress) was very nice and seated us quickly. We all started off with the brie and one of their signature drinks and loved all of them. The Moscow Mule was our favorite drink. My brother ordered the Beef Wellington and I had the Crispy Skinned Striped Bass. Both were AMAZING! My sister had the halibut which was delicious in its own right but not as much as the others in my opinion. We also had a very decent priced bottle of great wine. Overall, I loved this place and will undoubtedly be back for more."

  • "I was expecting great, so was a little disappointed. The shrimp appetizer was fine, but not very flavorful. fried green tomato appetizer was better, and made better by the interesting sauce. Our entrees were mixed. In general portions were small for the price, and tasted fine, but not good enough to want to go back there. The space is lovely, the wine list extensive, and the waitress was knowledgeable but a little intrusive."

  • "As my Xmas gift, my friend wanted us to dress up and she'd ditch the hubby and kids and take me out to dinner. She talks fast and soft so my number one requirement was the restaurant had to be quiet. Our reservation was early enough that the beginning of our meal was blissfully calm and quiet, but once the Saturday night crowd rolled in, forget it, all communication became a challenge. I had nearly lost my voice by the time we left. So, you can guess this was the one element that didn't meet my needs. The other two, food and service, were beyond reproach. The butternut squash bisque was to die for, and our server's cheerful willingness to keep asking about food allergens for me made the experience an A+. Great food & service, but loud."
