A word from Florio
Florio offers a variety of bistro classics; a "greatest hits" of rustic cafe food- including Steak Frites and pan-roasted air-chilled Chicken.
We feature a market-to-table local fish offering daily (as available).
Simple dishes such as pan roasted King Salmon and house-made Squid Ink Tagliolini round out the comforting menu.
Veal, Pork & Ricotta meatballs are a Sunday favorite with our regulars!
Florio even makes its own gelato and sorbetto en casa!
The menu changes daily to make the most of local, seasonal, organic meat, fish, and produce.
A small but savvy wine list of exceptional Napa producers, Italian specialties, and French vintners competes at the amiable bar with an admirable selection of pastis, select eau de vie and traditional spirits from around the world.

Food was not bad but it took over an hour from sitting down to get it, could have been a bit warmer too. Took a long time to get my first drink order in and also took a long time to order food; still took 45 minutes after ordering to actually get the food. I guess they were understaffed or something as it looked like our server was working the whole room. Not sure what the reasons were (rush they weren't expecting, absent staff), but we didn't get an explanation or apology - it would have been cheap to comp our drinks or something. This is the second mediocre experience here, I don't think we'll be coming back.

I went to Florio with my parents and we had a great meal. I had the prosciutto and figs which was great and then the fish stew which was amazing then tarte tatin to finish. The waitress was very attentive and the carafe of wine was very good and reasonable for $19. My parents had the duck confit which was great and the fig pudding. The only down points was the country pate which was very fatty (more so than usual) and the smoked salmon crostini which was ok. Really good atmosphere and we got a table seat which gave a good view to people watch on Fillmore street. We'll definitely be back.

I made a reservation for a Sunday for 4 with the intention of having their "Duck Confit". When I got to the restaurant on that Sunday the Duck Confit was not on the menu (sad face) and the waiter told me it's not always on the menu and "hit or miss". Needless to say I ordered the Wild Salmon and my 2 friends both ordered the Tuna Confit. We were all pleased with our meals, but the salmon wasn't the best I've had, but was pretty good. Our waiter was friendly and helped us order a great bottle of wine. My two friends also ordered an appetizer -some salad with tangerines-great. Why are diners STILL paying for SF Healthy Taxes? I thought Obama Care covered this??? I've heard of some SF restaurants pocking this money. I hope Florio is not!

I've been several times in the past and sat in the front of the restaurant or at the bar. My most recent visit, we (party of 2...my mother for her birthday) were seated in the back. The particular location was right in the path of where the wait staff goes to fetch food from the kitchen and take dirty plates. I was bumped on at least 10 occasions because the nears table made the pathway too close. The food was fine, but the above soured the experience for me.

The menu had some solid dishes. Was a little disappointed in their $31 Steak Frites. I'm not used to having my meat pre-cut for me in a steak frites and the beef portion was a little meager for the price.

We have been to Florio before and have always found their food delicious enough to return. We took our out of town guests there and unfortunately two of our Ahi Tuna confit dishes were overly cooked and returned. Our waiter agreed that it was overly cooked but the chef said that it would be the same if another was prepared. I was not happy with that response. As much as I always enjoy the service we will not be returning because there are many other restaurants in SF to go to.

Florio is fun with good food and a great ambiance. I always enjoy going there. I especially appreciate that the restaurant was able to take us a little early, as I'd requested in an email. Florio's is the perfect spot for an after-movie dinner; year after year, we keep going back -- gratefully. I would like to note that the portions had gotten smaller (with no price change) since I was there three months ago.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2005

We loved our meal and enjoyed the neighborhood feel of this restaurant. The decor was charming and the waitstaff attentive. Our only criticism was the noise level. I had to lean close to my guest to be heard. Sadly OpenTable only offers: Quiet, Moderate, Energetic. There should be another option: Uncomfortable. Too often the implication is that if a customer considers it to be "too loud" then they must be "too old". Too many mistakenly confuse LOUD with energetic. Sure, energetic is desirable, but LOUD is not. Sound levels can be measured. "Too loud" is not subjective. There are standards of what is safe for hearing. Please do something about Florio. I would love to come back, but I will definitely hesitate before doing so.

The food here is excellent. It's quality bistro food with a French twist. The chef knows what he's doing, and any of the pates is good when one is on the menu. The service is by career wait staff who are friendly and competent, and the ambiance is classic San Francisco bistro. And with a full bar, what's not to like?! :o)

We have eaten at Florio a number of times, and have never been disappointed. The food is consistently excellent, the service is great and the overall ambience & atmosphere are welcoming. It is also a very versatile spot, in that we've been there with our kids, with friends, and just my wife and I have had a quiet meal there. The hanger steak frites is a signature dish - highly recommended! - and Florio's constantly changing specials always offer something appealing. Can't say enough about it - two thumbs way up!

We really enjoy going to Florio's. It is one of our favorite Pacific Heights neighborhood restaurants and a good bar as well. It has a cozy, warm bistro atmosphere. There is something for everyone on the menu. Some of our favorites are the roast almonds, the soup of the day(always delicious!), the Mary's roast chicken with french fries, the meatballs and spaghetti on Sundays, and the fish of the day. It always taste fresh and well prepared. But what we enjoy the most are the people who work there - they are friendly, warm and responsive. It feels like family whenever we go there...just what a neighborhood gem should feel like! Now if the prices were just a little lower, we'd be there even more frequently!

I've had good meals in the past, but this was not a great experience. The wine prices seem high for what they're offering. Salad clearly needed salt. My main (seafood stew) was pretty good... At my table, we had some fine food and some not so great food including the super overcooked halibut. At this price point, it should be better than just meh ($100 / person all in).

This is a little gem on Fillmore, just a short walk from San Francisco's Japantown Center. Housed in a wonderful Victorian and looking like a warm a cheery pub, you're not surprised upon entering that it's pretty much that. Having made a reservation previously, even arriving a few minutes late (7pm) on a Friday night, there was no waiting. There were one or two parties waiting for a table, for the place was quite busy. The food was wonderful, my friend and I both had the salmon, the camembert salad, and gelato (with fennel) for dessert. And the pommes frites were killer. The meal was moderately priced and well worth it. The service was excellent, I could not have been more pleased. A bit crowded and noisy, as expected for a Friday night.

Florio's is warm and welcoming. Our group of five was lucky enough to have the small room curtained off from the main dining room so that we could have an easy conversation while eating delicious dishes. The food was well prepared and presented -- a poached egg on asparagus was perfectly cooked, while the roasted asparagus was smoky (in an utterly delicious way) with warm prosciutto underneath it. Our waitress was especially helpful, observant, and accommodating. Our experience at Florio's was outstanding.

Good location for a dinner before Yoshi's. However, the food was either bland or too acidic. Obviously the chef is following the trend of trying something different, current and eclectic. We noted that most diners were trying to find something on the menu that wasn't there. This place needs an identity. What kind of food are they serving? We will not be back.
