  • "Really, this was the best thing we ate. My friend and I ate here for out last night in Florida and it was a perfectly fine meal. We are both very food oriented and somewhat picky and were a little disappointed about some of our choices but overall the food is better than most we had in Miami beach. I agree with others that it costs a lot for the quality but I think that's about the location rather than the food itself. Our waiter was very attentive, the pool area is actually quite nice and we had a great time."

  • "The adventure started off by trying to find the rest. When we called the rest, they said it was located on 15th street so we went up & down 15th street to find it, turns out they were on Collins. Once we went inside, someone asked us to go upstairs which we did. When we went up, there was no one. Finally went inside the kitchen. The waiter told us that lunch is served downstairs. So, we walked down. The waiter took our order on time and the food came out fairly quickly. After we were done eating, the waiter disappeared and the plates weren't taken off the table nor did anyone come to ask us if we needed any more drinks or dessert. No one came for the check either. After we asked for the check, it came about an hour later. Won't go back."

  • "I really enjoyed Florida Cookery, outside patio seating is nice. I think for lunch or brunch would be nice as well. We did have dinner and i was really surprised and excited to try the different appetizers. We had the three different meat empanadas which included alligator, AMAZING! We also had the pork cheek with plantains...all very good. Service was also very good, Joel was attentive and enjoyed chatting with him."

  • "Looking for a good place to dine (food is the most important criteria for us), and this was recommended by NYTimes but did not appear on any top ten lists for Miami. For a $200 dinner + wine for two, you can do much better than this in Miami (if not in Miami Beach). The ingredients are good. But, the food is underwhelming. The grouper appetizer had ingredients that didn't appear to be going well together. The Ceviche was the most yummy of all dishes. The 2012 Wind Gap pinot was not preserved well (a bit sour). The main waiter was friendly and we had a great time talking to him, but didn't not know much about the food or wine. We were served also by multiple people (at least three) which was odd."

  • "The evening was dreadful. I requested a regular menu on New Year's Eve when I made the reservations and again when I confirmed, but was seated with the set menu. The menu was blasé and not very Florida with some black-eyed peas thrown on a plate and 1/2 bite of lobster claw on the surf and turf. (The filet was good.) The waiter had difficulty understanding what we wanted as well as explaining what the restaurant offered, so it was not until I returned to write this review that I understood that the $30.00 beverage package included all premium drinks and not just house wines. The restaurant was loud and the service inconsistent. One minute plates coming too fast, the next, water glasses not filled. We left early to go elsewhere."

  • "This is was by far some of the worst service I ever had in Miami (despite the manager apologizing!) .. We basically had to stop servers as they were walking by to order as no one ever came to our table. When we finally ordered drinks, my friends ordered strawberry mojitos and 20 minutes later (after asking about our drinks) the manager finally delivered the raspberry mojitos our waiter ordered. We had to wait for everything despite the place only being moderately filled. It felt like no one had any control of when food would come out of the kitchen or what would show up. Overall the food was good (except the paella) but didn't make up for poor service and really long waits for everything!"

  • "We were very disapointed. The Lobster was Cola and we got no Instrument to Open it. The Paella was dry, the mussels were all closed. For 58 Dollar we had o only Rice ."

  • "While I gave one stars across the board because you must check something the truth is stranger than fiction. Never got to eat at Florida Cookery because even though reservation for 8:45 pm was confirmed at 4:30 pm The resturant bumped all reservations for a last minute art basel event. So I could sit in the breezeway and order from their menu Or go to their other resturant called the Catch. While everyone was polite when our menus flew away even when weighed down with plates we opted for the other restaurant. So, usual south beach silliness masquerading as a service business"

  • "we had reservations weeks in advance for Thursday night during Art Basel. When we arrived for our 8:45 reservation they told us the restaurant had been rented out for a private party, but they had devised makeshift seating on an outdoor walkway in a second floor wind tunnel between two buildings. Tables were awful, there was no atmosphere, and they expected us to pay their $40+ for entrees. An apology was offered, but that was it. There had been no advance warning, even though they called us that morning to confirm our reservation. We left."

  • "I left a review yesterday but it was removed??!! We had a very expensive (for 3 @$140 plus tip) lunch that was lacking in all areas. The empanadas arrived clearly with different fillings from menu and servers description. It took asking 4 times to get what was in them. The food was NOT fresh, VERY salty, heavy and not the quality that the prices indicate. The server was clueless and while we did not harshly complain - the table behind us did. If you are going to charge high prices in S Beach then you should work to serve good food. One of the most disappointing meals I've had in S. Beach. Good service could have helped bad food a bit but bad service made it all worse. Think before dining here and peruse the menu w/ open eyes."

  • "Found this restaurant via the Slow Food Miami links and loved it ! The menu is interesting, the food very tasty, the products used of great quality. The staff was warm, enthusiastic and helpful but not over-bearing and seemed genuinely concerned by the quality of the food which was being served. The athmosphere is pleasant but relaxed, the decoration and lighting really nice and - most important - the noise level was kept to a minimum: which allowed for a normal dinner conversation without lip-reading or shouting. Quite unusual and welcome for a Miami / S. Beach restaurant."

  • "There are some natives to South Florida that really don't like to go deep into south beach because of the tourist attraction it has even though there happens to be some of the best chiefs in the world. I recommend you the Florida Cookery as on the fringe of an attraction with its flare for the natives without the noise of tourist and certainly excellence in it menu. What the Florida Cookery definitely has is substance in it's menu and most of a fantastic taste across the world combined into a presentation that is very hard to duplicate anywhere. Its majestic scenery just adds an element of elegance with a feel of comfort which does always goes well together but, the exception will be the Florida Cookery."

  • "The restaurant is located in the stunning James Hotel, worth a visit alone for the beautiful renovation of this Deco landmark. For lunch on a Saturday, the inside restaurant was closed, so we ate on the patio. The service was very friendly and attentive(especially by SoBe standards!). The menu is an imaginative mix of updated Florida favorites. The creamy, almost ricotta-like burrata mozzarella on fried green tomatoes was a standout, as were the BBQ ribs appetizer. The key lime tart for dessert was tiny, but delicious. As to be expected for a South Beach hotel restaurant, prices weren't cheap, but not outrageous either. I wouldn't go for lunch on a Tuesday, but for special occasions when in the area, I'd definitely go back."

  • "I went here by recommendation of a friend who I consider a foodie. She said it was great for dinner and wanted to try brunch. That was a bad idea. From her omelette that was just a tasteless egg white slab with the veggies thrown on top to them trying to charge us individually for the unlimited mimosas it was a horror show. We were the last to leave since we had so many issues... Never again"
