  • "As lovers of Italian food, my family wanted to love our first dinner at Floriana. The homemade bread with olive oil was excellent. My winter greens salad was delicious, as was my daughter's Caesar salad. The fried calamari portion was generous, although heavy and a bit spicy for my tastes. My short ribs ravioli was nicely flavored, but too salty. My husband and daughter enjoyed their pork chop and lasagne. My other daughter ordered the NY strip medium-well and it arrived medium-rare. The chef kindly prepared a new steak for her, but when it arrived, the rest of the family was finished eating. There was a long lull before the waiter took our dessert order, but the tiramisu and ice cream were very good. Lovely atmosphere but too noisy."

  • "Had some delicious pasta dishes--a-one gnocchi and a ridiculously good shrimp&scallop risotto. Apparently the chef was away tonight, so it's good to know he's got some great lieutenants behind him. A rather bland, uninspired caesar salad was the only miss, but a starter of calamari was solid. Good penetration on the wine list, and really stellar service points. A lot of attention to detail. Also good to learn that they make every single bit of pasta from scratch--the level of care shows through."

  • "I'd heard that this old standby of mine had brought on a new chef who had considerably upgraded what was already fine cuisine, and he has obviously delivered in spades--staggeringly great new menu! My old favorite, their classic lasagna was as brilliant as I remembered, but the new arrival of lamb gnocchi could easily make the '20 Best Eats DC' list. As starters, we enjoyed arancini--packed with more exotic flavor combinations than I've ever seen in that standard and a pork belly that rivalled anything I'd tasted at Cochon 555 this weekend. Service staff well-versed in describing these dishes, attentive w/o being overbearing, & spot on in delivery and the 'little things'. Kudos to this shop for not resting on it's laurels!"

  • "So glad they have brought brunch back! Floriana omelets are some of the best around, a couple more options for eggs would be great, but there's plenty I'm excited to taste. And HELLO...for $14 you can't beat the "bottomless" Bloody Mary / Mimosa, or that they were so nice they let me get a half-price bottle of wine since it was Sunday ( I guess its a thing they do at night). Our waitress even let me switch to mimosa after a couple Bloodies; that's service. Good food, tastes fresh, served hot, and I'm happy. Brunch is great, but lasagna for breakfast is the best. Yummy."

  • "I had the hazelnut chocolate french toast. When it arrived it looked more like deep friend wings. They were cold and difficult to cut with a knife. This was very disappointing since I had been here in the past and remembered relatively decent food, although even before the taste was nothing particularly special. My friend got the waffle, which had an exotic description, but ended up looking like just your average waffle."

My scallops were amazing but my husband gnocchi was very mediocre. In the past we've had amazing flawless dinners Not sure what is happening in the kitchen. The service was excellent. The seating is a little tight and awkward as we were seated right next to an unused door that led to busy hallway. However out waiter was exceptional and attentive. Will give Floriana another try next time we are in town."

We had a little snafu where they told us they were out of the wine we ordered, then recommended a different wine, then were out of that, the found what we wanted in the first place. But beyond that the service was great. The food was good. Not fantastic, but pretty darn good. The pasta was fresh and delicious, but a bit overcooked. The beet salad was fantastic. The vegetarian options were nice, but a bit too similar (a bunch of variations of pasta with butternut squash). Our biggest complaint was that they jammed too many tables in, so we kept bumping our neighbors."

Great drinks; great wine list; great personalities. On the menu tonight was duck breast which I had yet to try, it was delicious, juicy and flavorful. Enjoyed a new dessert; donuts warm and served with honey, the honey was boring, but the donuts were yummy. I'd always recommend Floriana."

The bacon in my shrimp and grits was rubbery.....and the sauce separated into a runny, soupy mess. Flavoring of all dishes were tasty....so this suggests potential."

  • "I have been to Floriana for drinks and desserts, so I was very excited to try it for a full meal. We each started with a salad (winter berries and Caesar), which were good, but not spectacular. I had the Zucca, which had been recommended to me by a friend. It came with about 6 ravioli, which were under-cooked and not very warm. I had to send it back to be reheated, which is something I rarely do. It was described as having a brown butter sage sauce. It came with one piece of sage and it tasted like the butter was microwaved and dumped on top. My fiancé had the roasted chicken, which was over-cooked and subpar. We did not even stay for dessert. Positives - great service and ambience."

  • "My wife and I had a romantic valentines day dinner here. We had never heard of this place before we chose it based on an urbanspoon search. The wait staff was accommodating and friendly. The food was awesome! They didn't have the glass of super Tuscan I asked for and instead of asking me to pick another, they upgraded the glass from a more expensive bottle of super Tuscan not usually sold by the glass. This was one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time and they have my highest recommendation."
