Diner Reviews
  • "This was an absolutely wonderful experience! The ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful. Before the meal came, the bread and sea salt-topped butter tasted delicious and even incorporate cheddar in the bread. The fried chicken dish was phenomenal and some of the best fried chicken I have ever eaten! The main dish of cheese and mushroom pasta was good as well (except perhaps for the black-eyed pea topping). But the dessert... wow! The dessert was a hot cheesecake, a dish I had never eaten before. The interior was hot and light like a souffle, and as I ate the dish its texture changed as it cooled slightly. But this was still one of the best desserts I have ever eaten and one of the best meals I have ever had in Raleigh. Wow!"

  • "Food was great, the service for only having 3 tables total sat out of the entire dining room was terrible. Waiter was knowledgeable but nothing more, not attentive, rushed, pushy to order... but I love good food so I would try it again for the food and hope for better service. I normally don't write reviews but I felt the need to voice my experience since it was memorable in a negative way. $150 for two with drinks apps and main course."

  • "The service was incredible. We were first delighted by a complimentary amuse bouche of pita with chevre and candied duck bacon. The asiago bread and butter were also wonderful. We ordered two appetizers - the Fois Gras French Toast which was absolutely amazing with a perfect layering of flavors, and then the Scallop Fritters which couldn't be beat. I had the Pork Belly special with a mushroom ragu and goat cheese mashed potatoes. I was already full but couldn't put my fork down! My dining partner had the beef short rib with smoked macaroni and cheese. It was rich and delicious. All in all we had a fabulous time."

  • "Our first dining experience at Flights was wonderful. The décor is very upscale and calming. The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable, making great recommendations. The NC Corn Bisque was absolutely amazing. I could have eaten many bowls of it!!! Both of our entrees were delicious. I opted for the grilled whole branzino (sp?) and it was perfectly grilled and seasoned. We tried, on our waiter's recommendation, the chef's specialty dessert, Hot Cheesecake, and were not disappointed. Highly recommend Flights."

  • "our waiter was fantastic, although the food was a bit slow given the restaurant was nearly empty. overall great food & service."

  • "Excellent service; excellent food; limited menu; very cold in the restaurant and my view was overlooking a parking lot"

  • "The menu is small but 'fancy'. Despite this, my husband, who prefers more traditional foods, did not have a hard time finding something to order. We started with the seared scallops, which were truly incredible!! Our fantastic waiter, Travis, brought out some bread as well. I'm picky about dinner bread- this was perfect. Light, crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and the butter alongside it wasn't rock hard. Next was the corn chowder with crab. Superb! We both ordered the Low Country Boil, which was also fantastic, but beware- it's NOT your typical boil. This was served in some sort of beef base and was heavy on the sausage flavor. Dessert of hot cheesecake knocked our socks off. Absolutely delicious!"

  • "I went here for dinner while driving through Raleigh; it's conveniently located off of the Beltline. I ordered a beet salad, a pork loin special entree, and a souffle-like cheesecake dessert. The salad was fine and the cheesecake creation was quite good. But the entree was very disappointing. I won't be back; the quality-price-ratio is too low."

  • "We were the only ones (besides one couple) in the restaurant on a Saturday evening. The staff were nice, the few tables that were set were nice. Food was okay. Best part was the dessert. I would not go here again."

  • "I Googled"Father's Day Brunch" and Flights came up! Took a chance and loved it. The brunch buffet was wonderful and the price was very reasonable. Wait staff was personable and the complimentary valet parking was nice too. We will definitely be back!"

  • "Had a wonderful dinner last Friday. Every dish was top notch! The scallops appetizer was fantastic. Entrees of Swordfish and Pork Porterhouse were perfect! And the hot cheesecake sealed the deal!"

  • "From the attentive service to the amazing food, Flights was impressive. The highlight was the NC Corn Bisque which blossomed w fresh crab and was a great surprise. The chicken thigh and waffle appetizer was nearly as good. It was Resturant week so they had special deserts as well and we were blown away by the carrot cake blondie with cream cheese ice cream. Main courses consisted of the Brunswick Chicken and the pork porterhouse. The chicken was just a tad dry but the flavor was over the top good. No complaints on the porterhouse. All in all a definite repeat for us!"

  • "We decided to try this restaurant during Triangle Restaurant Week - I was looking through the available menus for lunch, and the Flights menu really stood out - so many original sounding dishes. Or dishes with an original spin on them. We were certainly not disappointed - the food was presented very well, and was delicious. The service was wonderful, and the restaurant was charming. We will definitely be visiting again."

  • "Our experience was very positive. We were greeted with a smile and quickly seated. Our server, Travis was very knowledgeable and explained the entrees, discussed preferences and made suggestions. Food was excellent--beautifully prepared and presented. My husband had a pork dish and I had monkfish--we enjoyed both. Pur appetizer of scallops was outstanding! Nice hot bread too. Their signature dessert is a warm cheesecake which has a lovely presentation. "

  • "Wonderful spread with just the right balance of old favorites and more foodie oriented buffet offerings. All fresh and hot - and delicious. Service was attentive but not over-bearing; ambience was alive and bright but conversation-freindly. All-in-all a great Mother's Day experience for me and my 79 year old very selective mother."

  • "My boyfriend and I love to try new restaurants. It was his birthday night and we couldn't have beenore pleased with our server Travis. He was attentive, checked back after our two bites and was always there to make sure everything was good. He was very knowledgeable about the menu."

  • "We deciced to go to Flights for our 28th wedding anniversary. The filet and condiments were the best I`ve had in the triangle.! The highlight was the dessert.....YOU MUST HAVE THE HOT CHEESECAKE!!!!! I have been all over the world and this is without a doubt, the BEST cheesecake I have ever had, hands down, game over!"

  • "One of Raleigh's gems. Chef Dean Thompson has knocked it out of the park. Sourcing local menu items is a huge plus in my book. The flavors are exquisite and well balanced. I mean ranjit ravioli with a truffle cream sauce?! Amazing. We cannot wait to return and partake in more of the epic goodness that exists at Flights. There's a reason he won Fire in the Triangle last year."

  • "My husband and I tried new cuisine from the Restaurant Week menu which was recommended by the server. I had the Chicken Papperdelle which was very tasty plus it was served hot because I hate receiving warm or cold entrees. The Frisee salad was different but very good. My husband and I always try different foods when we eat out and the meal was different but excellent."

  • "The food, overall, was just not very good. The hot cheesecake for dessert was excellent, though. Plates were very "artistic" and the service was generally good. I doubt I'd go back."

  • "The wine list needs some work. It seems as though they are mailing it in - picking wines every chain restaurant offers. The food was unbalanced - good flavors, just not consistent throughout the dish. The same can be said for the service. Our second course arrived as we were still enjoying our first course. I would have rather enjoyed each course individually. Overall, this seems to be a restaurant that could be very good with some fine-tuning."

  • "Food was excellent and was great value during restaurant week. Tomato bisque soup was outstanding, delicious pastrami sandwich and desserts were ridiculously good. Very pleasant lunch for $15."

  • "This was a special occassion celebrating a anniversary. There were special arrangments made from friends who took care of our dinner and had extra things waiting for my Mom. Attention to detail, the presentation, the food and the wonderful service from being checked in to the waitress was top notch! And wow, the food was outstanding!"

  • "The Christmas dinner, family style, would have been better with a few more additions, such as: cranberry sauce, relishes, etc. The server was clueless about the entrees. She knew nothing about how the dishes were prepared, other terms used (dressing vs. stuffing), and that rib roast is not pot roast. We would have preferred a buffet. The meal was over priced for what was served."

  • "My wife and I went to Flights for our fourth wedding anniversary. The menu changes frequently so you need to check online before making plans. We had the ribs with green beans and mac & cheese and the low country boil. Excellent. To top the dinner off, you must try the baked cheese cake. It is like eating air!"

  • "We were there for lunch this week. I had the fish tacos which consisted of a very small amount of fish, lettuce, and a bit of mayonaisse (I'm guessing). I noticed one jalapeño slice. No seasoning of any kind or any other ingredients. It was terrible, the most boring taco I've ever had. My companion had a chicken salad sandwich. The chicken filling was watery and weirdly flavored, he couldn't finish it. On the plus side the staff was very pleasant and welcoming, but it can't make up for the failures of the kitchen. They need some decent recipes and a commitment to fresh ingredients."

  • "stayed at the Renaissance, so we went to the bar. Peter, the bartender, was wonderful! Helpful with drink selection and efficient even when he got busy. Big kudos to him. Hostess La'Kell was very accommodating and friendly). Our server was very sweet, but VERY chatty with other tables, which made him ignore us and take longer than usual for everything. The food was excellent, the staff was hit or miss so overall I would come here again, but I would be more outspoken about the service. I got Tomato bisque (excellent!) and the chicken pappardelle (creamy. smooth and flavorful). Got apple pie ala mode for dessert (they were out of hot cheesecake:o( and it was good. Check it out!"

  • "I was expecting more. My wife's club was extra toasty, as if the bread was stale before hand. Served crinkle cut fries?!? (This is a high end location) They were the same fry as BK. Food was salty. Last, server was wearing a blue band-aid on her finger, without a latex finger sock/cover to prevent the spread of possible body fluid."

  • "We went as a group to Flights on Thanksgiving for the first time. They managed to take a pretty predictable meal and make it into something fantastic!!"
    Dined on 11/28/2013
  • "Although our Thanksgiving meal was delicious and more than you could eat, I was really disappointed in where they seated my family of 5 people. Instead of seating us in the beautiful dining room, they chose to walk us through there and into a 'meeting room' type setting. They should advise people at time that we would not be seated in regular dining room. I probably would not have chosen this particular restaurant for Thanksgiving."
