I'm a very picky eater who sticks to beef and chicken but I tried the lamb and LOVED IT. We went to the Orpheum for my birthday and decided to try Flight. I had made reservations for 5:30. We were early, and they seated us immediately. The staff greeted us at the door, our waiter, John was very informative about the process, the menu, and had wonderful recommendations. Nate was also around often with offers of refills and to help with the clearing.This was truly the best dining experience I have had in years! (and I like to eat!) Bring a group so you can try more items. Everything we tried from the Green Apple Soup to the decadent Creme Brulee was incredible. The wine flights were excellent and a great way to chose which to have a full glass of.
For starters the Watermelon and Feta salad was a delightfully simple but refreshing start and my wife and daughter had the Chefs Special Crab Salad and Avocado and Lobster Bisque respectively. Again both were excellent.
We had an Entree flight each. The New Zealand Elk was superb and the only minor let down was that my wifes duck was slightly overcooked. We LOVED just about everything we tried. The creme brule' was heavenly and the Raspberry Sorbet was like putting a Raspberry cloud in your mouth! We were VERY impressed with the building, staff and I had never been somewhere that had Valet parking. It was just what we needed since my in-laws didn't need to walk two blocks to the restaurant.
It is on the priceyer side of a dinner, but the quality of food they served was WELL WORTH the price. A great combination of tapas style and traditional three course dining. The idea of a 'flight' of different food and drink really worked for us. Not only that, but each element of each dish was executed wonderfully. It was our wedding anniversary and Flight was perfect for that occasion. There are areas where the restaurant could improve to lift the four star score to a five star score, and these should be relatively simple. While the subdued lighting helps create a romantic and intimate atmosphere, it was perhaps a little too subdued to read the menu! We had to borrow the waiter's mini torch to do so. With a Flight, you choose three of something perfectly portioned for your enjoyment. Flights are offered for ever course of the meal as well as for wines. You can't go wrong utilizing their concept. Our server asked us if we were going to the musical that night so she can get us out of there in time to get our seats. We were not but to just ask out right she was very thoughtful.
