Flex Mussels - 82nd StreetFood was delish!!! HighlyFood was delish!!! Highly recommend the bisque mussels.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDelishWe arrived five minutes before our reservation time and was immediately seated. We ordered the San Danielle, Little Neck, and the Fra Diavolo. All three were delicious. The winner though was the San Danielle. Noise level was high, but we had no problem hearing each other. Would definitely go back.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mussels !!!!!Second visit to flex mussels enjoyed it so much. Great job will be back5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat time and wonderful foodI LOVE Flex Mussels! I always have a great meal here- it is a little pricey, but nothing over the top. When I told my waiter that the lobster on my Bruschetta Mussels was a bit chewy and overdone, they immediately without me asking brought me a brand new serving of lobster. This place knows good customer service is the key to staying afloat in NYC and I will continue to come back here for as long as they are open.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food and Service! The mussels we amazing and the Flex Donuts are to die for!!! We will definitely be back!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a fantastic placeThis was a fantastic place with great food. I went with a friend and the immediate reaction was this would be great for a date! The service was impeccable. My friend and I ordered two varieties of mussels, one Fra Diavlo and the daily special to share. The daily special had calarmari, shrimp, scallops and linguine in a wonderful chowder broth. We supplemented the dish with the truffle fries which we felt the need to order an additional order. I'm am really looking forward to returning.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPrices are typical for UES,Prices are typical for UES, but drinks are out of order. $17 per drink!!!!!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThai musselsVery generous portions. The donuts Are a great dessert to share5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent as alwaysWe love to dine at FLEXMUSSELS , mussels are so good and bread too not to mention their French fries!
wine list is also great.
The downside is that .... Is difficult to decide "last minute" tongo there as it is always VERY busy...so think three/four days in advance!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEven when you are not into musselsThey offer delicious food even for those who are not into mussels or seafood in general. A little curiosity on seafood is recommended tho. Enjoy!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place. Always goLove this place. Always go here when my Mom is in town. Save room for the fresh baked donuts!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. However, youGreat food. However, you never know how much you are going to pay for the same drink on different nights. Watch your tab!!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great experience!Mussels are delicious every time. Had a fantastic server who was very knowledge about gluten free options for a Celiac guest. Will definitely be going back soon.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMTheir specialty is musselsTheir specialty is mussels served in a variety of sauce bases. Mine was in a bisque. The sauce was flavorful and full of ingredients, particularly large chunks of lobster. The mussels, said to be from Prince Edward Island, were sweet and plump, cooked to perfection.
Service was friendly and very attentive. If you are not a seafoodie this is not for you. If you are a seafoodie and bored with salmon and snapper, this is a unique opportunity to savor a very singular food in a very special way.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to the other locationI've been to the other location and wanted to try this one for a change. The other, 13th street location, is much prettier. This one is much more austere though I wasnt seated in the back which has more color. But the food was at the same high standard, and the wait staff was very attentive. I always get mussels when Im there and my friend got the seafood special, the whole branzino, and I took a bite. Absolutely amazing. I had the mussels bisque which was absolutely delicious. And the lemon meringue pie in a cup. Wow. My eyes rolled back in my head after the first bite.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVE ITMUSSELS ARE AMAZING. DESSERT IS TO DIE FOR. IVE BEEN TWICE AND HAVE BEEN BLOWN AWAY BY THE WONDERFUL SERVICE BOTH TIMES.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMussel ManiaMy husband & I met our 20-something kids here for a b-day celebration for my daughter. Maitre'd was warm & welcoming and held our table while we sipped our Cosmos & caught up with one another. Our table was perfect- round and in the back, just as requested. the atmosphere is relaxed with an energetic , city vibe. the menu is mostly mussels, but in so many interesting varieties. We also had the healthy, yet delicious kale salad, the crabcakes , and the AMAZING Boston roll. Chunks of lobster on a warm buttery bun- to die for!!! All our mussel orders pleased the palate- I recommend the thai & lobster chowder variety. Dessert was their trademark Whoopie pie- liked the main course more. Will return!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in NYCWe were in NYC for one week and tried different restaurants every singe day. This was BY FAR the very best we had. The WORST, by far, was Bond 45! But flex muscles was WONDERFUL!!!!!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely amazingI took my wife here for her birthday after visiting the Met and this restaurant absolutely blew us away. The service was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food was out of this world good!! I've always loved mussels but we had no idea that they could be this good. I got the Parma mussels and I'm salivating just typing about them. Can't wait to come back to try another flavor. Also the atmosphere was very modern, trendy, and colorful and also very comfortable and inviting. This has instantly become one of our favorite restaurants from top to bottom. I have been recommending this place every chance I can since going. Everyone needs to try these mussels!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place has an A+ personalityThis place has an A+ personality and crazy good food! Fun! Fun! Fun!
Love the upside down shell pails that hang from the ceiling as bar lighting.
The wait staff was so friendly we wished they could sit down and join us!
Order a variety of muscles and share amongst your company... the crusty bread
dipped in the delicious broths was the ultimate piece de resistance... until the
salty carmel donut with vanilla bean dipping sauce was served that gave the
incredible meal a run for its money.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you like mussels, thisIf you like mussels, this is it! Categories of sauces (& prices) are broken out on the menu. Classic dijon sauce was excellent, and 'Bisque' with lobster and brandy was, too (although other 'lower tier' choices would be just as good; fungi is another favorite). Be sure to hold on to the spoon (or some extra bread) to get the sauce once the shells are all empty... Fish & Chips (in the 'non mussels' category) were also crunchy and tasty. Flex fries were a little disappointing: not hot or crunchy; would probably skip them next time. Iceberg wedge is expensive (considering) but smothered in blue cheese and sinfully yummy. The baby donuts with choice of fillings are also a guilty pleasure - but hey, as long as you're here already.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI always have a great timeI always have a great time at Flex Mussels. The food is always excellent and the service never disappoints. Cant wait to go again.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI usually don't like musselsI usually don't like mussels but this place changed my mind. It's prepped in many ways so you can basically choose whatever flavor that fits your taste bud. The waiters there are very professional and attentive. The only complaint i have about it is that it's too dark and a bit noisy (like all other NYC restaurants). The table space is also quite small if you have a big party.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food but extremelyExcellent food but extremely noisy. I had to yell across the table for my husband to hear me and vice versa. Yet I could hear the other people's conversations sitting on either side of us very clearly since they were almost screaming at each other. This is not a romantic dining experience, but if one is looking for night life-bar-scene-dance club noise and good mussels, then this is the place.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAll members of our group hadAll members of our group had perfectly cooked mussels. The bread is fantastic and even better used to mop up the sauce! New favourite place to eat in the city!
Seemed to be mid redecorating when we were there but other than there being a few pictures missing and some masking tape on the walls you wouldn't have noticed!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was amazing. EverythingThe food was amazing. Everything I had: the lobster roll, the mussels (Bombay) and the crab cake. EVERYTHING.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMussels and oysters are awesome.Mussels and oysters are awesome. Price point is very reason given quality and quantity. Waitress was attentive but not over bearing. Will return again soon.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Upper East Side spotGreat Upper East Side spot especially if you're looking for fresh, creative seafood. Mussels are an outstanding choice no matter how you have them prepared. Plentiful servings, very flavorful and satisfying. Old Bay fries are great and the Flex Donuts are a must-try. One of my favorite places to eat in the city! Can be hard to snag an early reservation on the weekends.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you love mussels, thisIf you love mussels, this is the place to be. If you don't, the choices are pretty limited.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh mussels directly fromFresh mussels directly from PEI prepared 25 different ways as well as wonderful appetizers and salads. It's one of our favorites and we're never disappointed. If you're a happy hour person go early for a deal that can't be beat in the bar area. We like to share, so we eat in the main dining room and have fun with the appetizers (salmon tartare is wonderful) and the Thai mussels can't be beat.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you love Mussels.....My 3rd visit and consistently great food and just all round cool place to go on the UES, including the waiter and his Mussel Tov T shirt. Although we ordered 3 different types of mussels and planned on sharing, each was so good - none of us gave up our bowl of mussels to share. We debated on fries due to the calorie addition but decided if we were going to go for it - might as well order the truffle fries. Well worth the extra calories. I love this place not only for the food but it is just a cool spot and the service is excellent. Choose the back room if you can, quieter but still lively.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely amazing P.E.I mussels!Absolutely amazing P.E.I mussels! Food is amazing, energetic and noisy they turn the tables quick and the service is excellent. My server was excellent with recommendations for both food and wine. For the upper east side location, the crowd was surprisingly very mixed, which was refreshing. And the food was wonderful, so all will leave us wanting to return soon.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMPEI Mussels at their best!PEI mussels at their best! As an Islander I was proud of the food. The mussels were delicious and there is a great variety of flavour choices to fit any palate. Food is consistently delicious. If you can put up with a bit of crowding and noise, and just enjoy the energy, you will have a wonderful dining experience.3/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed this restaurantWe enjoyed this restaurant after a short, but cold walk from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They were waiting for us, seated us quickly and the service was attentive, but not overbearing. Many choices from which to choose, our two were quite good. Would recommend to anyone who likes mussels. Will go back again.2/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
