Unfortunately, Fleur de Lys, San Francisco, is going out of business after 28 years. Everything was wonderful. We met both the chef, Hubert Keller, and his wife, Chantal. They are lovely people. Best wishes to them for new adventures.

Traveled from MD & told this restaurant was a must visit. Turns out they were to close the night after we visied. The facility is lovely, private & quiet but the waiter we had seemed quite "green" & never came back to check on our level of satisfaction with the food. Plates arrived from a variety of staff with no explanation & no additional seasoning offered at any point. I could not cut my duck breast & had to shout at my server to get his attention as he served the table next to me & turned to leave. "Excuse Me" I bellowed, "may I please have a serrated knife, i cannot cut my duck." I was told that they do not have serrated knives but never asked if something was wrong with the food. I was left to tear the duck apart.

So we dined in the eve of the restaurant's final day in business . We could see why the restaurant is closing. They used to old leftover food/supplies/ingredients for their final days. I thought 1) they would go out w a Big Bang 2) or the food would t be great. It was the nastiest meal ever! I guess they have no pride or dignity left. what a sad way to go. I can see why now they went out of business.

When we heard that Fluer de Lys was closing their doors after 30 amazing years, we were so sad......we immediately made a reservation for the final week and planned a trip to San Francisco to enjoy one last amazing dinner.....Chef Keller and his staff are amazing and will be missed in the San Francisco dining scene. We always stopped by for dinner at FDL when in the area, even if it meant a long drive down from Napa and St Helena when traveling to the wine country. Thank you for all the great dinners, memories and celebrations.....all of you will be missed and we wish you all the best. Thank you Chef Keller for the time you spent with us on that busy Tuesday night and we will cherish the time you spent with us sharing a glass of wine

I made a reservation as soon as I read it was closing. I have wanted to try it for years but always just had something more important to do. I really wish I had gone before, because after this experience I want to do it again but can't now. I loved the food, from the amuse bouche to the petite fours.

The food was classic, cooked well, and really good. The ambiance was warm, romantic, and cozy. The noise level was really quiet at first, I almost felt like I had to whisper, but the restaurant started to fill up and the noise was at a more comfortable level. The chef was in and I caught a few glimpses of him in the kitchen. Our waiter was cheerful and friendly. Overall, really good experience and sad to hear the restaurant is closing.

The decor, food, and service are all dated. Clearly it was once a great restaurant, but at this point it's beyond stogy and stuffy. Dinner felt almost awkward, like we were on a cruise ship (no one there was under 60). Food was OK, but the service and atmosphere just felt very off to me. Everyone was very nice though, and we did get a little extra free dash of Pinot for free.

My family and friends have been dining here over the years celebrating Birthdays, Graduations, Anniversaries, family reunions. All now treasured memories as this beloved jewel closes her doors the end of this month. True to form our evening was sublime start to finish. We choose the 5 course menu option with the wine accompaniment. We all chose the Borsht as our appetizer as well as the scallops for our 1st course. We selected the filet with a lobster crown and truffled lobster macaroni and cheese and the New York Steak de Buffalo, Espresso de figue et vin rouge, Madeleine de Mais; Beef cheeks so tender; Cheese course a perfect plate. Souffle's and the Fleur Burger too A special dinner everything delicious. We will miss you all.

A serene, well=established restaurant in the heart of San Francisco, with outstanding food and service. The decor is looking a little dated, but once the food arrived, that didn't matter. All three courses were thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Also, I don't know if this is typical of restaurants or not, but we were taken back to the kitchen after a fantastic meal to meet the chef. We thought it would be a sous chef, but we were delighted to meet Hubert Keller himself. As avid foodies and Top Chef fans, this was the highlight of our trip to San Francisco!

A friend and I went to Fleur de Lys for our first true "fine dining" experience. Everything about the experience was simply perfect! The food was excellent and everything was thoroughly explained. The service was absolutely top notch and our server was very attentive and very friendly. We even received a complimentary desert! The ambiance was very classy, decorative, and definitely romantic. This is the a great place to treat that someone special in your life. We never felt rushed and had a truly remarkable dining experience both of us will never forget. Thinking back, the only thing I would change would be the addition of music. Having the right background music would be the icing on the cake. :)

I'm still here and can't wait to write how terrible the food is. I don't know what everyone is raving about? We were so excited to try this place out and the food is very very very disappointing. I'm sorry but who ever reviewed that "every bite is like an explosion of flavors in your mouth" must have just come out of a long stint in prison. The place looks great! The service is amazing! But at the end if the day, a restaurant has to have good food. Everything taste bland. The best way to describe the food is the taste and quality of food on a cruise ship or country club wedding party. For these prices, I feel cheated big time ! After spending $260 at this place, we are still hungry and now going to eat somewhere else.

I had a really good time and great food at Fleur De Lys. It was my first time there, and I wasn't disappointed. The 4 course tasting menu was just the right amount of food, and gave a lot of options to mix up different foods. Finishing up with the Braised Kobe Beef Cheeks before a Chocolate Souffle wasn't even the highlight of the night. We were fortunate enough to have Hubert Keller himself there that evening, and he took time out to come to our table and have some pictures taken. All around a fantastic evening, and can't wait to go again!

We selected this restaurant while on vacation because of seeing Chef Hebert Keller on Top Chef and Top Chef Masters. We went in with high expectations and the evening exceeded them. Be sure one of the people in your party order the Fleurburger, it was whimsically fantastic. If you are a fan of Chef Keller, be sure to read his book "Souvenirs: Memories, Stories, and Recipes from My Life". It is a very good book, I'm glad I read it before visiting the restaurant. It made for a perfect evening, wish we lived in the area so we could go there again.

They were VERY clear about the $50.00 per person charge for missing the reservation. 3 course prix fixe for $79.00 each with one wine pairing $56.00. Baguette perfect, nice crisp crust & chewy crumb. Appetizers = Toasted duck ham & mozzarella slider with French potato salad "cold mashed potatoes"? with Faux Gras which did NOT taste anything like Foie Gras, and Salmon Paul Haeberlin ? came raw in the middle. Brought to the servers attention, took it to the kitchen, he returned saying that the chef agreed that it was too rare and said that the chef said "thank you" ??. No offer of another appetizer, no offer of a bill credit, nothing. Beautiful presentations but lacking in taste. Wine pairings so/so. Second baguette serving=crushed flat.

We continue to come here year after year for the past 20 years, for the best overall dining experience. The romantic, classy, ambience, hospitality, and impeccable service, package the fine food into a great evening of enjoyment. We usually combine several occasions into one, to justify the cost, even though relative to many places in the Bay Area these days, a dinner at the Fleur de Lys is quite reasonable. We look forward to the next time.

We enjoyed our meal, but honestly it's a bit too expensive for my taste. The restaurant is beautiful and the service is great, but the food, other than the dessert (cheesecake was superb), left us disappointed in what we got for the price we paid. Our server was great, but the table next to us was given all the attention by the manager who never even looked at us. Made us feel less than important.

Their Air Conditioning was not working so we had to sit through a baking oven for 3+ hours. I would have thought that they would have called us earlier during the day offering to cancel our reservation as their AC had broken down during the day and hadn't been fixed. I had a work/client dinner and i would not recommend Fleur de Lys - the food is sub par, service is mediocre and the ambience is very dated.

I recently became addicted to cooking shows and immediately recognized the name Hubert Keller from Top Chef Masters. I am always looking for new and different places to try new and different foods. Now that I have found Flour de Lys, I will never return to San Francisco without first, making a reservation there. It was the most beaudutifully stunning restaurant in which I have ever eaten. That was just the beginning. After placing their orders for a three course meal, we were pleasantly surprised by a complimentary amuse bouche. I don't even know where to begin in describing the multitude of yousensational flavors my palate was so lucky to experience. From the sauerkraut soup with spaetzle to the perfection of the souffle, I have no words.
