  • "We usually go to the Flemings in La Jolla but decided to try the one in the Gaslamp because we were going to a play at Lamb's, a block away. It was a wonderful experience providing the food quality and service that we have come to expect from Flemings. The only qualification I would mention is that we were dining early, so it was quiet, which we prefer to permit easy conversation. However, this is in the Gaslamp and I would expect that as the evening goes on, it gets noisy, as does everyplace else in the Gaslamp."

  • "We frequent Fleming's about twice a year for special occasions. This time was a disappointment. We ordered 2 New York Peppercorn steaks, 1 Filet and 1 lobster. The New York steaks were small and somewhat overcooked. When I mentioned this to the waiter he said I should ordered a different steak! Unbelievable! This is supposed to be a high end steakhouse, comparable to Morton's or Ruth Chris. Their prices certainly are. I think I will take my special occasions elsewhere in the future."

Overpriced for small portions of food. The filet mignon was the worse I ever had. Completely disappointed with flemings."

From our greeting, to the service, to the food, this place has it. It has been a while since I have seen the total package in a restaurant but whatever it is going on behind the scenes their needs to be transcribed into a how-to restaurant book. Can't not say enough, but next time we come to San Diego, Fleming's will be on our list of things to do."

  • "The food was delicious but for the experience, food, and ambiance we feel it was not great value for money. Considering there are other high-end steak restaurants close-by in San Diego city, Flemmings didn't "wow" us like others have. We went this past Saturday night and it was very crowded (graduation and prom season) and we were stuck in the very back corner of the restaurant at a tiny table for two in what turned into a very loud restaurant. The steaks we ordered were wonderful, but given that we didn't order any sides and only had one glass of wine, our bill of over $100 for just two steaks and a glass of wine in a noisy, crowded restaurant.... I think we've had a better experiences at Ruth's Chris up the street. "

The ambience was elegant with a "casual is OK too" feel about it. The food was healthy and delicious with a good variety. The atmosphere was very nice."

  • "We went to Fleming's as a family of four adults for Mother's day brunch. Wanted to see how a steakhouse could transform for brunch. The choices were a bit limited and odd pairings, for example, I chose the french toast (quite good), but the sides included cooked vegetables as I would have had for dinner. The meal included an appetizer, entree and dessert. There was only one choice of appetizer for breakfast goers - fresh fruit (which was quite nice). My son had a hash (will filet mignon I think) and eggs. Good overall. Wife and daughter had eggs benedict which looked quite good. Service-felt a bit rushed. Cost was $40/pp basic. With three alcoholic drinks and cappuccino, the total cost for brunch went from $160 to $250 (including tip). "

  • "Simply the best steaks anywhere. Way better than Morton"s or Ruth Chris. I travel a lot, and been fortunate to have tried the best steak houses in Texas, Chicago, Seattle, etc. I must say that Fleming's is the best. Plus, the ambiance is very romantic and elegant, the i-pad enabled wine list is very helpful, the wine list very deep, and the desert was fabulous (lava cake !!). I took my wife for our 21st anniversary celebration, and she was very, very impressed, as was I !!"
