  • "Flemings is OK for a low end 'upscale' steakhouse. Service is OK and the food itself is also just OK. We had steaks as mains and oysters (not the best, not fresh tasting); ceasar salad-mediocre. Wine list is pretty good and offers a nice variety. Fresh berries for dessert was as expected top notch. Overall there are better high end steakhouses."

  • "Our waiter was awesome. He knew the menu, knew the wine list, and took the time to interact with those at his tables. The manager stopped by twice to speak to us and once when I was away from the table. I saw him do the same with a number of the other customers. We were celebrating our anniversary and they brought us each a complimentary glass of champagne. They also comp-ed our deserts since we are both active duty military. I have been to this Flemings many times since its opening and I am NEVER disappointed with the experience. Go and enjoy!!!"

  • "The service was impeccable as well as the ambience. The porcini rubbed steak was excellent while the steak with Fleming potatoes, the steak was tough and potatoes were to die for. The Caesar salad had brown leaved lettuce throughout. The bread was perfect as well as the butters which accompanied it. Thanks!"

  • "Less than impressed after spending nearly $100 per person for our party of four, hence only 3 stars. While there were many positive aspects (i.e., nice table ready upon arrival, attentive wait staff, excellent wines, tasty fare, etc.), the handling of my overdone filet was far from meriting a 5 or even 4 star rating. A lot of time passed after dishes were delivered till the wait staff checked on our meals. They did take back the filet but again it was a while for another small filet to be correctly grilled to med rare and returned (i.e., the rest of my party was long done with their meals). At most, offered a mere "sorry for the inconvenience". As such, I say "Sorry but there seems to be other (higher?) quality steak places in the area"."

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience. Mike was our server and he was very helpful and attentive. The onion soup was the best I have ever had. I could have easily made a meal of the soup alone. The fillet and lobster were both prepared well but nothing spectacular about it. Don't get me wrong. It was delicious but it wasn't any different from any of the other steak houses I've been too. We will definitely come back next time we're in town."

  • "The sliced filet small plate and Newport Filet were cooked to perfection. The meat was deliciously tender. The offering of peppercorn, Madeira, and Bernaise sauce was an added bonus. A salad and the 4 oz. Newport filet accompanied by a square of Fleming's scalloped potatoes was just the right amount of food for me. Every mouthful was a treat. The sliced filet topped scrumptious wild mushroom rissotto was a hit also."

  • "The food here is on par with every other Flemings we have visited meaning it was excellent. We had the main filet mignon with king crab and herb butter and a side of scallops and asparagus. It was just the two of us so we were splitting everything. We told the server that but everything came out on one plate and they gave her a spare empty plate that must have been fresh out of the oven as she burned her fingers pretty bad. The restaurant itself was about half the size of what we are used too and they were turning people away at 9pm as they we getting ready to close, on a Sunday! Beside these few quirks everything was good. The steak and wine being the highlights"

  • "We were long time fans of The Palm in San Diego, but it closed 12/31/2013. We were checking out other fine dining options like Flemings. It compares well to our beloved Palm except in price; Flemings is even more expensive. Had we know the Chef's Special (filet mignon & ahi tuna) was so huge, we could've split it. The waiter didn't offer any help in that area, so we ended up taking food home with 2 orders instead of 1 that would have sufficed. The wine portions were very small (<6 oz.?) so we had 2 glasses of wine ($$$$). For 2 people sharing 1 dessert, total bill was $225.00 - outrageous!"

  • "My wife and I came here the day after Valentine's Day. We had the seafood tower as an appetizer which not only looked scrumptious, but tasted scrumptious too. I has the dry age New York strip, and my wife the filet mignon. We shared the asparagus, mashed potatoes, and a bottle of wine. All were mouth watering delicious. Their desserts also were very, very good washed down with an Irish coffee. The service was impeccable. The gentleman who came around to refill water even remembered I asked for no ice. It was a fantastic dining experience. It was quite expensive, but mostly by our choices of appetizer to dessert. It could have been cheaper for us, and probably just as good."

  • "I am a steak-a-holic! I love good steak. I have eaten 140.00 Kobe steaks just because I live steak. San Diego is my home and I have eaten at all of the steakhouses here. Let me be clear, Fleming's is the best. Since my first visit, I have returned many times and consistently my steak has come to me the exact perfect way. Same every time! It is never too salted, always super hot. My wife always orders a petite filet and it is tender enough to cut with her fork. I prefer the bone in ribeye and I can cut it with a butter knife. It's flavoring is perfect. Never bland and never over saturated with stuff. We also order the sautéed spinach and it goes perfect. It is no more pricey than any other steak place but head and shoulders above them."

  • "Flemings in the Gaslamp area is a wonderful place to get a great steak, great side dishes, wonderful wine selection - they have an iPad where you can select their wine. Our waiter was excellent. He was funny and personable and told us his favorites. We were there for Restaurant Week so of course we got a deal. I had the lamb chops which was wonderfully seasoned. It was slightly over cooked (I had asked for medium). But because it tasted so good I didn't want to stop to get a new set. It came with three chops and a gremolata that was tasty underneath. The sides of creamed spinach and mashed potatoes was excellent. I also had the BBQ shrimp appetizer - very spicy. Desserts were okay. I"d definitely come again."

Side dishes of potatoes and spinich were also outstanding. Service was also excellent. We have been to other steak houses but not as good as Flemings. We will return for special occasions."

  • "My wife and I got what we expected: good steaks. A special note, the appetizer, crab cakes, were extremely delcious. As a person raised on crab, I think this is the best I ever tasted. For dessert, we had the berries and cream. A simple dessert made delicious. It is very good."
