Diner Reviews
  • "The food is great and of high quality. The variety and quality of the side dishes are terrific. We were fortunate to have Maria again serve us at our table. She is a professional and joy to deal with."

  • "Another outstanding dinner at a Fleming's (as always). Nation wide, I have been to 5 or 6 Fleming's and everyone has been excellent. San Diego was no different. Great service and a very good wine list to boot."

  • "We usually go to the Flemings in La Jolla but decided to try the one in the Gaslamp because we were going to a play at Lamb's, a block away. It was a wonderful experience providing the food quality and service that we have come to expect from Flemings. The only qualification I would mention is that we were dining early, so it was quiet, which we prefer to permit easy conversation. However, this is in the Gaslamp and I would expect that as the evening goes on, it gets noisy, as does everyplace else in the Gaslamp."

  • "Great food and price for the 3 course prime rib dinner. Service was exceptionable. Love the Chantilly cream on top of desert. Prime rib was tender and not fatty, grilled asparagus was great."

  • "Haven't dined at a Flemings for awhile but was very disappointed with the quality of the steak. Didn't seem like prime beef to me. Even fries seemed over done. Restaurant was beautiful and service was wonderful though."

  • "Aged ribeye was perfectly cooked with a great flavor"

  • "As well as having the best prime rib special on Sundays, there are great steaks and fish. The wine list is very good and the staff are very attentive."

  • "Great service and great food. The waiter, upon learning we had been recently married, brought out complimentary champagne and finished it off with a small box of truffles. This was so unexpected. We had a wonderful time."

  • "Food quality was disappointing. My chicken was overcooked, gravy/sauce quite dreadful. My wife's steak was under-cooked. They comped the steak, overall good service. Ruth Chris wins, hands down."

  • "Great food and atmosphere . Good wine list for all tastes. We have always been treated excellent. Very convenient to down town hotels and convention center. Excellent service. Very good for special occasions . I never feel rushed to eat and leave even when they are busy."

  • "We frequent Fleming's about twice a year for special occasions. This time was a disappointment. We ordered 2 New York Peppercorn steaks, 1 Filet and 1 lobster. The New York steaks were small and somewhat overcooked. When I mentioned this to the waiter he said I should ordered a different steak! Unbelievable! This is supposed to be a high end steakhouse, comparable to Morton's or Ruth Chris. Their prices certainly are. I think I will take my special occasions elsewhere in the future."

  • "The steak was really good. The onion rings were big thick rings w some breading type of coating. Not very good. I also had the sautéed spinach which was reasonably good."

  • "Flemings did not live up to there expectations. Our waitress Maria was less than helpful. I found a hair in my my lobster bisque. She never apologized just took the soup away from the table. Overpriced for small portions of food. The filet mignon was the worse I ever had. Completely disappointed with flemings."

  • "Flemings has a 'small plate' menu and that was just excellent in my eyes. my husband likes a nice big dinner and I really enjoy a smaller one and the small plate menu was very broad and my lamb chops could not have been better. Patrick was a great waiter. very helpful."

  • "It never fails. Always amazing. Staff are very friendly, profesionnal, well informed. Place is clean. Ambience is perfect. Awesome steak choices & wine. Cooked to perfection. The fillet mignon melted in my mouth. Can't wait to celebrate our anniversary again. "

  • "We came in from out of town for our anniversary and happened upon this place. As an avid dinning out enthusiast it takes a lot to impress me, but that is exactly what they did. From our greeting, to the service, to the food, this place has it. It has been a while since I have seen the total package in a restaurant but whatever it is going on behind the scenes their needs to be transcribed into a how-to restaurant book. Can't not say enough, but next time we come to San Diego, Fleming's will be on our list of things to do."

  • "Food and wine was excellent. Love the grilled asparagus and can't get enough of the Chantilly cream on my crème Brule The prime rib was great, can really taste the rosemary seasoning on the outside. The French fries were great and crispy. Recommend this restaurant if you love great food."

  • "The food was delicious but for the experience, food, and ambiance we feel it was not great value for money. Considering there are other high-end steak restaurants close-by in San Diego city, Flemmings didn't "wow" us like others have. We went this past Saturday night and it was very crowded (graduation and prom season) and we were stuck in the very back corner of the restaurant at a tiny table for two in what turned into a very loud restaurant. The steaks we ordered were wonderful, but given that we didn't order any sides and only had one glass of wine, our bill of over $100 for just two steaks and a glass of wine in a noisy, crowded restaurant.... I think we've had a better experiences at Ruth's Chris up the street. "

  • "My sons took my husband and me to dinner at Fleming's Steakhouse for Mother's Day. We had a group of 9. The seating was more than adequate and comfortable. The ambience was elegant with a "casual is OK too" feel about it. The food was healthy and delicious with a good variety. The atmosphere was very nice."

  • "We went to Fleming's as a family of four adults for Mother's day brunch. Wanted to see how a steakhouse could transform for brunch. The choices were a bit limited and odd pairings, for example, I chose the french toast (quite good), but the sides included cooked vegetables as I would have had for dinner. The meal included an appetizer, entree and dessert. There was only one choice of appetizer for breakfast goers - fresh fruit (which was quite nice). My son had a hash (will filet mignon I think) and eggs. Good overall. Wife and daughter had eggs benedict which looked quite good. Service-felt a bit rushed. Cost was $40/pp basic. With three alcoholic drinks and cappuccino, the total cost for brunch went from $160 to $250 (including tip). "

  • "Simply the best steaks anywhere. Way better than Morton"s or Ruth Chris. I travel a lot, and been fortunate to have tried the best steak houses in Texas, Chicago, Seattle, etc. I must say that Fleming's is the best. Plus, the ambiance is very romantic and elegant, the i-pad enabled wine list is very helpful, the wine list very deep, and the desert was fabulous (lava cake !!). I took my wife for our 21st anniversary celebration, and she was very, very impressed, as was I !!"

He was engaging, offered fabulous suggestions and was attentive without intrusion. Just wonderful!!! We were too full for dessert this night. We will be going back soon for a dessert and cocktails night!!!"

  • "The food and service at Fleming's won't disappoint you, as long as you go in knowing that it's a 4-$ restaurant. I took 3 deserving employees while in town for a meeting, and we had a wonderful meal. "

  • "From the moment we sat down the dinner was fantastic. A great waiter, an extensive wine list and wonderful food. We tried many of he small plates so that we could sample different things. That was the way to go. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and plan on returning."

  • "We had the $39 three course prime rib special which is only available on Sundays. We brought our own wine. The total bill with tip, tax and $20 corkage was $130. We used two $50 gift cards that we bought at Costco for $79 so we were out of pocket $110 plus the cost of our own wine. The Fleming salad was excellent and the prime rib was done perfectly. We shared the chocolate tower and took home a carmel carrot cake. Both were yummy. If you want a pre-dinner cocktail, you can save even more if you go to their bar during Happy Hour (5 - 7) but arrive early as their HH is very popular and for good reason."

  • "My husband and I have been to Fleming's Steakhouse several times and enjoy it every time. We had the Sunday Prime Rib 3 course Special. The prime rib was a huge portion filling 1/3 of the plate; creamed spinach was fabulous and enough to share; the bread and two spreads were wonderful-one a dried tomato and the other bleu cheese mixture; the house salad had cranberries and nuts & the onion soup was loaded with cheese; the asparagus was amazing. We enjoyed carrot cake for the third course/dessert and it was very delicious. There was so much food, we took half of it home to eat the next day. Sam, our waiter, was very helpful and met our every need. "
