Diner Reviews
  • "I usually have dinner here with my wife when we are celebrating a special day or a special occasion. The service is remarkable and the food is very good. Wine list is very notable with a great selection and variety of prices."

  • "First, our server was excellent. Attentive but not suffocating. One steak was a little more rare than medium rare but they took care of it promptly (better to be undercooked than over poked!) We will return for another special occasion."

  • "We visited on Friday night to celebrate our anniversary. We had a reservation and I recommend it because this is a busy place. There's a huge wine selection in all different price points. The menu descriptions are incomplete meaning none of the steak descriptions state the number of ounces .Steak prices are $45 or more. Side dishes are expensive ($9-$11) for baked potato, asparagus, French fries, sautéed mushrooms. Just can't fathom paying $10 for a baked potato or any side for that matter. Our waitress was average at best and seemed rushed to handle other tables, not very personable either. For the money, I think there's better choices."

  • "My 93-year old mother lives in a nearby retirement community and about once a month she enjoys dinner at Fleming's. Our favorite server is Ricky who was excellent as always. His new assistant was also unusually good. One touch that I noticed this time which I thought was special: the young ladies at the front desk always make a point of using everyone's name on arrival, but what pleasantly surprised me was when they used my name as I was leaving."

  • "Not crowded and I am sure that is why it was quiet. I rated it as good in comparison to other restaurants in its class. did not care at all for the iPad device they gave us to select our wine."

  • "Food is always good here. We had the calamari in chilly sauce for appetizer, it was very good. Sautéed spinach, asparagus, petite filet mignon and Prime ribeye were excellent. It was a bit noisy for us to have a conversation sitting across each other."

  • "Typical steak-house fare done well. We went to the bar for happy hour before dinner, which was a great way to get a round of drinks and try some appetizers at a good price."

  • "I varied from my usual steak this time and opted for the Lobster Tails. They were wonderful."

  • "My husband and I had an amazing time. The staff was friendly and always right there when we needed them to refill our drinks or finished with a plate. We will go back...and we will tell others of our experience."

  • "After impulsively deciding on a Saturday afternoon that we would go out on a "date," we decided on Fleming's - neither of us had been there. Great choice! The waiter was informative, he knew the menu, and was not overly attentive. The bone-in rib eye was outstanding - grilled exactly the way I wanted. Great wine list; found some choices that will not break the bank."

  • "I have eaten here many times, mostly because it's close to my house. Average high-end steakhouse food, with below average service - but easy to park! Just another steakhouse clone. They start to blur together after a while. So if you want a decent steak served by amateurs, this is your place. If you are looking for something special or are expecting the level of service that should come with this price tag, skip it."

  • "Given the average income in San Antonio and the fact that there are many many cheaper excellent restaurants in the city and nearby I think we will be passing on everything except their happy hour; which is especially reasonable in it's timing of 5-7pm. Cocktails were excellent, but also slightly expensive at around $10.00 per. The salads are about the same. I have visited several other high priced excellent restaurants around San Antonio (not chains) and the Fleming's prices were still high. My steak was slightly overcooked. It was still tender due to the quality of the cut, but I expect more out of a steakhouse and even more out of one that charges so much. The beef isn't wagyu, but is priced like it is."

  • "Our party included a Birthday Boy, and the folks at Fleming's treated him very well. Our waitress and the Manager wished him a Happy Birthday, and the Manager brought him a gift box full of hand made chocolate truffles along with a Gift Card. Of course we enjoyed the truffles right away!"

  • "We went on a Monday night to celebrate our son, daughter-in-law and new (4 month) granddaughter were visiting San Antonio. The Valet was wonderful in getting us all through the rain and safely inside. We seated in a wonderful spot to accommodate the baby and the sling for the infant carrier was already set-up. John, our waiter, and the entire staff was great! We disagree on what entree or desert was best - but they were were all wonderful. The beef was flavorful, tender and prepared just right. The wine list was extensive - across all price ranges. Al in all a GREAT time! Thank-you, Flemings."

  • "Second time to the place and it is just as I remembered, alright. Service was very good as well as the atmosphere in our dining room. Ordered the 20 oz. bone-in ribeye, normally get my steaks med-well but had a couple of bad experiences with my last couple of steaks(not here). Explained to my waiter and he mentioned they had med-plus, I have to be honest I had never heard of med-plus but after he explained it, I gave it a try. When my steak arrived it looked great, the first few bites were tender and flavorful. Then came the next bite, I will just say on the verge of being "rare". Asked our waiter what he thought and he immediately offered to fix the issue, he said it must have "slipped" thru. Really? Not at a place known for steaks!"

  • "Had to return wife's entrée twice for being lukewarm. Service was very slow and not all that attentive. Management did comp the entrée, but did not really seem apologetic nor interested in talking with us about their failure to meet dining expectations. This was a Sunday, and they were crowded but not overflowing. Would not recommend for the value. For fine dining pick somewhere else in San Antonio."

  • "Re-visited this restaurant because we had received gift cards for the holidays. Our experience was not as enjoyable as previous times due to inattentive service and average food. We realize that it was Valentine's weekend, but hoped that we beat the busiest time since it was the day after the holiday. I ordered from the pre-set menu, which included an appetizer, salad and entree. When my appetizer was delivered to my table, much to my surprise, it was one scallop on top of a dallop of polenta. Seriously! Needless-to-say, we don't plan to return to this restaurant."

  • "Went for Valentine's dinner, even though the restaurant was very busy we still managed to receive great service. The food is very good. Would definitely recommend."

  • "Outstanding food and very good service considering it was very busy for valentine's. It was our first time here but we will be back !!"

  • "Valentine's Day at Fleming's was pitiful! Arrived at 8:00, Reservations for 8:15, got seated at 9:15, received our soup and salad at 10:15. Once food did start coming it was good (or I was just famished), but they were out of bread! Should have known there were problems when we were turned away at Valet parking and had to park about three blocks away! To make matters worse, they seated walk-ins with and ahead of those with reservations. It was Valentine's Day but they should have been better prepared, managed their flow, limited their seating reservations and given preference to those who planned ahead. When you lay a few Franklins down for a quality meal, you expect more, even on a busy night, and Fleming's clearly FAILED to deliver!!!"

  • "Large ribeye was too thick and not tender/marbled enough, especially for the price. But everything else was great. We love the wedge salad."

  • "We have been to Fleming's many occastions but this time was not impressed with the food. Salad and sides have all been reduced and also the entree. Service was still great but price for price it left us short."

  • "The overall experience was good, but we had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Management did apologize and make up for it with a cocktail while we waited and an appetizer after we were seated. Other than the wait, the rest of the experience was good. Great wine selection, and the food was excellent."

  • "Having dinner at Fleming's is always a nice event. After the servers great you by name, the level of service is unparalleled. The food is always delicious and the Operating Partner always stops by to ensure expectations are met. Jenn was our server - very personable professional server who took great care of us! The Prime Rib special on Sunday nights is terrific!"

  • "Great Sunday night prime rib special for the price, but….the dining room was very dark. Had to ask the waiter twice for more sugar and a drink refill. Returned the first prime rib because it was full of fat (no problem). The special Fleming potatoes were cold and not very tasty. The asparagus was watery and the sauce was bland. The desserts were good, but not outstanding. If I had paid the everyday menu price I would have been very unhappy. There is a lot of competition out there. David, the manager, was extremely friendly and really worked the room, which is very important. Nice dinner, but nothing that really said "special.""

  • "Food is good. Does not leave me saying to myself I can't wait to go back for more. Service was good. The ambience of this place I really feel sets the tone. This maybe the least romantic of the restaurants I have visited lately. Disappointing for a higher tier restaurant."

  • "My wife and I frequent Fleming's quite often and have always had great food and service. On this visit, my steak was cooked perfectly and my wife's crab cakes were excellent. Our waiter did a very nice job of being attentive without being annoying. Overall we had a great experience. I highly recommend happy hour in the bar. Get there early because if fills up quickly. The cheeseburger is outstanding and the best value on the bar menu."

  • "This is my second time for the Sunday Prime Rib special. The first experience was very good. This time my meat was so tough that I sent it back. The replacement had little taste. My wife had a nice piece of meat. Management seemed unconcerned. Waiter called my wife "young lady" (often) and she is old enough to be his mother."

  • "Totally satisfied after a great dinner that exceeded expectations. Outstanding service by Elizabeth at the bar. Entire staff makes sure you feel like their only guest even though the place is packed with patrons. Steaks cooked perfectly and well seasoned. Great steakhouse in San Antonio. I highly recommend a visit to Fleming's!"

  • "We decided to splurge on NYE. We never go out to an expensive dinner. It was well worth the cost. My Filet was perfectly cooked and fork tender. The chicken breast was moist and flavorful. I highly suggest the blue cheese mashed potatoes and the grilled asparagus. The blue cheese butter and the sun dries tomato basil butter are to die for and our strawberry basil cocktails we delicious. If you want a nice romantic night out this is the place."

  • "This is my second trip to this Fleming's location and both times the food was Ok but expensive. I have tried the ribeye and the NY strip and both were chewy...on the tough side. For the money, I believe there are better steak restaurants than Fleming's. While I like the atmosphere it is just a little too pricey."

  • "Had a great dinner service was good steak was great , little disappointed that they were out of the age ribeye , but the New York strip didn't disappoint !!!"

  • "The service, as usual, was outstanding - always a consistent delight at Fleming's. The crab cakes were excellent. Waiter made a fantastic wine choice for us. As for the actual dinner course - 3 of the 4 of us there gave their steaks (all variations of fillets) 4 out of 4. I had the special New York Strip, which was far from ideal - not exactly tender to start with, and overcooked (I had asked for medium, this was medium well to well). But the sides were great, and the dessert (chocolate pecan whiskey tart) was excellent. Overall a great night, but I will say that based on previous experiences the steaks can (surprisingly) be the weak spot in that they are inconsistent - sometimes outstanding, other times disappointing."
